342 Caledonian Rd, Islington, London N1 1BB, Grand Island
Bar dedicated to electronic gamers, with consoles to play and eSports on the big screen.
The staff were massively welcoming and accomodating. Back in July, I had been searching all over the city for a gaming cafe to participate in a tournament, and got to them late in the day.Not only did they allow me to stay after the lockup to complete my games, they even cheered me on as my team and I went down to a spirited defeat! A blonde girl and a dark haired fella were on the bar, thanks for putting up with me even at the end of a long day! All the best
Fun, wish they played Tekken instead of GG tho
Great staff, great drinks and awesome atmosphere.
wow if you like games and havent been here, youre doing something wrong. The consoles are free, and cocktails like Garrosh and Zoras domain are well priced (2-4-1and are lovely too!My last friday was spent geeking out with some strangers talking about final fantasy and then losing on streetfighter. everyone there is a lovely quirky kind, and are very welcoming to new people.
Fantastic venue for Smash Bros, great variety of cocktails, what more can you want?!
Best place for drinks, fun, games and amazing staff
Range of games, even board games. Themed cocktails which were well priced - deals for 2 of the same one. No food but had bar snacks. Friendly atmosphere
Meltdown did a fantastic job with its latest Hearthstone event. The staff went above and beyond in making you feel welcome, and the decoration of the venue was superb. I will be returning!
Went here for a friends birthday and the atmosphere was great. Friendly bar staff, loved the shots and their names (The Kirby shot was delicious and the Leeroy Jenkins shot tasted like ChristmasThe games on offer (the ones I saw included League, sonic racers, Tekken, Smash and Soul Calibrewere good for casual and serious gamers alike.
The bar is great, if your feeling to play anything from league or valorant, to smash or street fighter or even just a casual board game and drinks, then this is the spot to go to.
Meltdown London was a great place to play online games and arcade games. Very good drink selection at the bar and an amazing cyberpunk ambiance in the bar. I also found the staff to be very helpful and friendly which made it a very enjoyable experience for my friends and I.
Simply the best place for drinks, games and a good time!
Friendly place with no big egos. Amazing vibe and my new favourite bar! 🎮
Great gaming bar. Buzzing atmosphere.
Amazing bar! Thanks for everything <3
Friendly staff, good range of beers to help concentrate whilst youre gaming.
literally love this bar so much. perfect place to meet like minded individuals who like gaming, and the drinks are delicious. definitely a must try if you like fighting games, or games to play with others. would recommend a friday or saturday night as other nights can be a bit empty
Great place to sit back and mash buttons
Free games, awesome drinks, friendly staff... the perfect place to hang out!The video was shot during a major esports event: dont worry, regular days are not that crowded! But no matter the event and whether or not youre a gamer, you wont find a better atmosphere than at Meltdown London.
Really great bar with friendly, personable staff. The cocktail menu is amazing, frequently updated and refreshed. They continue to do their best even with all the challenges they face in light of Covid restrictions. I can only recommend it. The prices are great for London, too!
Small and dingy venue. Drinks are alright but if you want to come here for gaming I wouldnt bother unless you show up right when they open because the "queueing system" is scuffed. Felt very cramped, ended up staying for a few drinks because of my friends but I wouldnt come again.
Great pub, good range of games to play. I had a really great time with my friends and we had plenty of room so felt safe. The staff were really friendly and knowledgeable too :)
Got there before opening only for a group of guys to push in front of me and my friends and take the PCs. Staff said nothing, avoid at all costs.Edit: Thanks for your response, just goes to show that all the staff are rude and could clearly care less about customers. There are far better gaming venues in London that look out for their customers and value the time theyve been waiting in line.
Came in yesterday for the first time with a few friends. A Massive thank you to Imran who was bartending that night. He was very welcoming and attentive all night and even though it was quiet he still managed to smile throughout. Great bar/concept, will definitely be back!
Met some truly awesome friends and people at this place. Great selection of drinks, great gaming setup and the staff are awesome. Its reopening was last night and it was great to have the place back and see old faces and new ones. The new people I saw behind the bar were friendly and worked hard to make the night great. Great work by the one called Sam, who always brings in the good vibes to bar.Definitely coming back.
E-sports bar with streaming competitions on the big screen and local gaming on consoles like PS4, Gamecube, Wii U and more. PC games like DotA and LoL available too. Buy a drink to get free access to games. Cocktail menu is inspired by games characters. Freindly and helpful staff.
Meltdown is a cool place in London where you can enjoy your night with a drink and couple of games on the computers or on various gaming consoles waiting for you. The place is located in Caledonian street. You can find places to buy tobacco or snacks just in front of the Meltdown. They have very good gaming equipment event if some of them are getting old. But I liked it and I definitely do recommend this place.
Very laid back bar with board games, video games, and free to play PCs. Decent beer selection, and a lot of themed cocktails (I had a Nunu with vodka instead of whiskey. Delicious). Prices arent bad, and theres free WiFi. Toilets are a bit scary but theyre clean and regularly maintained.
Really cool place and the staff are lovely. I came on a Friday night with a few friends and we had some drinks and played Mario kart/Smash Bros on the consoles. The staff were really helpful setting things up and the drinks were cheap (by London standards). The atmosphere was also friendly and Ill definitely come back.
Great pub. Consoles and pcs around for you to play on. They have great themed nights also, some fun quizzes and Jack in the box nights where everyone can join in. Fun gaming themes cocktails and board games also. Staff are always friendly and approachable and are open for suggestions for specific streams you would like on the tvs, we asked if it was okay to watch a particular ESL game while we were there and were happy to help. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone if they want a bit of a different pub experience, especially people into gaming!
I really liked the Meltdown bar, a nice welcoming vibe for Esports fans. You can request for any live tournament broadcasts to be put on the TVs, and a decent selection of drinks.I think tournaments are also run by the bar too, so thats a nice addition.
Friendly bar with a very young crowd. Good seating and various tabletop games to browse.Drinks are average, a bit expensive. Bathrooms are as clean as London pub can be.PCs are well kept and used mostly by the frequent patrons.
A gaming bar with character. Ive been going to this bar since its opening over 5 years ago. You can play PC games and a number of consoles, all you have to do is buy a drink. Drinks are very reasonably priced with a few gaming themed drinks. Occasionally tournaments and events are held. You can check for these on their website. The venue can be dirty at times but the staff are friendly and helpful.
Came here on a whim with some friends a few years back. Never stopped coming. We live 45 minutes away but its still our local. Great games, great prices, great friends. Best cocktails for a non cocktail bar. Even the security are great (shout out to Ray)Come here if u like games or alcohol, loads of computers and consoles. Best bar in London.
Great place, nice cocktail, lot of games and gamers, the best place for electronic game and drinking time ;)
I couldnt recommend Meltdown enough. Its a great place for a few games on their PCs, a little tournament, to watch a stream or simply hang out at the bar or book a table with some friends. When playing its a good idea to stick to the PC rules to keep the system running smoothly and have everybody happy. Everyone that works there is polite, easy-going, welcoming and they do a great job running the place. What a cool venue!
A wide variety of games, all free-to-play. Tournaments are held daily here on rotation. Selection of board games are also available here. There is also an open bar should you wish to order any drinks. Staff here are great. Would definitely recommend giving this place a try.
Fantastic venue. Came here for a surprise birthday treat and had a great game-filled evening. The bar man was so friendly and the locals were very welcoming. Id like to see a better range of beers but still a great venue, we will be returning.
Friendly staff and place, fun activities, drinks are not overly expensive and you can bring your own food! Great for a night out with mates having a few drinks and playing some games with all the PCs and PlayStations available!
Two stars only for the staff, very nice and kind, and for the style of the place. For the rest the experience was quite bad; after couple of games playing League of Legends (so an average of 1h and halfone person next to me literally order to me to get the ... away (same wordsand leave the computers to the other. After that, I finished my drink seeing them playing without any actual care about the people waiting behind them. I think it is nice to go once just for the feeling, but otherwise there are not enough PCs for everyone and the people are a bit too much pretentious.
Beer was off. Minimum card payment is £5 but most drinks are less which means you need cash. The main draw is the gaming aspect but its mostly Overwatch and Super Smash Bros. If thats your thing then fine but a bit of variety wouldnt go amiss. Some more interesting and varied events would be cool to.
Not a local? Forget about playing. The place is quite spartan and the seating is scarce. Not a lot of drinks, they mostly have beer and a little hard liquor. They offer gaming PCs but there isn’t a proper queueing system - you write your name on a whiteboard and hope that the locals are in a generous mood, because otherwise they’ll claim they were there before and that their names were erased. PC sessions are supposed to last only 40 minutes, but these rules don’t apply to locals. Most infuriating is that after more than 2 hours of waiting for our turn, the place suddenly decided that only Overwatch games were to be played, effective immediately - thus canceling our turn and wasting our time.Owners of this place, if you’re reading this: The concept of the place is good, but the execution falls flat. Have a look at how tourists experience this place, how out of place and unwelcome it makes them feel. See how the interaction between locals and visitors goes. Then decide if that’s how you want this place to run, and advertise accordingly: private club, visitors not welcome. Otherwise, make the rules clear, enforce them, let visitors know how the place works.
Some of the best staff, and great drinks. If you want food, you can bring your own, or order food to be delivered (most of the places know the pub, just ask the bar tender for the address)Good events, good people, and good atmosphereAll around a gamers version of a football mad pub for a footie fanatic. I think it is a great place to bring new people, and old gamers alike.
Great concept of "gamer bar", but it looks to be in dire need of a refurbishment. The whole place was booked out by fowl smelling nerds, so we couldnt actually make use of the attraction of the pub. Instead we had to tolerate being around loud, socially inept people who smelled with little else to do but finish our pints and put the dump behind us.
Awesome little bar with a unique theme around esports and computer gaming. Fun and themed cocktails, regular tournament nights and generally a friendly crowd. I wish there were more bars like this around town!
Very chill gaming bar. I didnt find cleanliness as big a concern as other people; the torn sofa and somewhat rough looks add to the atmosphere and the beer is cheap (3.50 for a pint of Carlsberg). There arent very many PCs (5and consoles but we didnt have to wait long on a Sunday night. Hardware and seats were fine as well.
Its a bit on the small side (space wise). But the idea is sound and the atmosphere is really chilled. Staff are helpful and friendly, the service is good and the drinks menu is fun and varied. Layout could be a better as can get a little packed at times.
Great atmosphere, staff and bar. Gaming stations setup free to play as long as you buy a drink. Play for 40min then you can put your name on the waiting queue again if you like. It worked out very well even at peak time. Great PCs with comfortable chairs. Live DJ playing, big screens for watching eSports. Wide range of games and consoles.
Im not a gamer by any means, but one of my friends is so a few of us joined him here. Theyve got stations for people to game - and drink - and if you arent playing you can watch other people playing on the big screens streaming their activity. I felt quite out of place as a non-gamer (who also wasnt too interested in watching the screens), so the few of us who werent gaming hung around the tables outside to enjoy our drinks and chat. Regardless, if youre a gamer I imagine this would be a great spot to hang out with gaming friends and meet like-minded people.I gave it 4* because I love the concept, the bartenders seemed super friendly and accommodating, and the drinks are reasonably priced.
The worlds first pub geared towards gamers, what more do you want?. Its a great venue, a sort of clash between old man pub and e-sports bar.Friendly staff and very willing to accommodate. Also reasonable drink prices! Its still early, and I think theyve got a little growing to do in terms of working the space and pulling in the punters, but really looking forward to seeing it evolve. One negative would be that they dont have any AC... it was HOT!
