Wax museum housing galleries of life-size statues playing musical instruments from around the world.
Its average nothing to be hyped about. As half of the instruments were beyond my knowledge. But one thing I would like to mention is that the artist did a great job. Creating each instrument and human models need a lot of hard work. So, you can give a visit if you want.
Instruments was only there,no other wax statues was there...Just fooling the peoples...Ticket was very expensive...but nicely maintained...after all just ok for one time to visit... government should give some money to maintain them...plz keep tickets for lower cost...no maharashtrian music instruments was there...
The museum has over 1200 instruments from around the world and claims to have the largest collection in India. There’s a horror show that is not worth the visit, and a ‘vortex’ which was actually cool. As a foreigner the 200 rupee fee was reasonable to see everything, much more and i would have been disappointed. If I returned it would just be the music part for only 60 rupees. Now, if melody world sees this review I have a few comments… and please know these are suggestions from a musican who enjoyed the museum, not complaints.First take better care of those precious instruments! Some are obviously in disrepair, and everything is dusty. What you have is special and hopefully will be preserved for future generations but not in the state I saw them in today. Maybe visitation is low because of Covid, but I urge you to take better care. Also there are some items mislabeled either with the wrong name or wrong place of origin (like Cuban bongos are with the middle eastern area but should be with the Latin America area), and many items are not labeled. To further your mission of inspiring kids to learn music please update signage so they know the right name and origin of the instrument. What about having some recorded music along with the presentations so people can hear what these instruments sound like? Your Indian visitors may not be familiar with the styles of music from other countries, and your foreign visitors may not be familiar with the different Indian styles.Maybe a hands on section so people can make some noise and really be inspired? I would love to try the pump organs you have.Lastly your categorization could use an update. It would be fascinating for instance to see a timeline of drums, or stringed instruments rather than have them all scattered about.Maybe close the horror show altogether and focus on the music cause you have a wonderful collection and the horror show was a complete waste of space. 🙏🏽
Nice experience going through the museum and seeing the variety of age old books musical instrumentsWonderful collectionGreatly Appreciate the efforts of the founder of the museumSalutes to their great interest 🙏If the museum is kept clean it would be the best - very much required, pls do at the earliest
Very good.. The music instruments were awesome. My daughter took some data for her school assignment
Nice place... They have a wide range of musical instruments...
You can visit this place if youre interested in knowing vivid musical instruments around India and world... Good collection.. Hoping government/corporation may provide help in building infrastructure and maintenance so it can be a prominent musical museum in India..
It is a nice museum for music enthusiasts. Since it is self maintained, cleanliness is on the low side.
Not worthy. The place is very old and dusty without any maintenance. Its kind of spooky as there were literally no one when we went there. No one to guide and we just felt like running out of the place due to its desserted and spooky look
If you have an eye of musical instruments then you can visit this place.
This place is awesome. They also claim to have the largest collection of ancient musical instruments. And it may well be true. The wax works are very good.
Different types of statues are made up of wax. Many types of cultures in India are represented by wax statues. Also one horror home are there and I wish you should visit this also. The ticket price is only 60(museum+ 60(horror homefor one adult. Overall experience is good.
Its a small musium, not a big collection of wax sculptures but a good collection of old instruments
Again, its NOT a museum. Similar to any exhibition camp you might have come across. There are many wax figurines and stuff. It has record of having a collection of wax counterpart of all musical instruments of the world.Just that they arent displayed properly neither with their names nor any information. They have just been stored like in a storehouse. There are also many mini games available to play after paying for each.
Nice place to visit. You could find many old and new instruments over here. The wax statues are especially good.
Personally I dont like it. I expected much more.
The place has got awesome collection of western and Indian musical instruments. Music lovers will find it enthralling. The wax statues are watchable. The rating is mainly for the instruments.
This museum has India.s largest collection of musical instruments.Privately managed this museum is not recognized or supported by the Government.Entry fee of Rs.60 appears too steep. It needs to have much brighter lighting and ambiance.Music lover can travel to history and see gramophone and old radios stacked up.This needs huge improvement if it expects good footfall.
Unique place to visit. Must visit with kids and ensure them to know the musical instruments which is used in past,Wax made statue are very niceEasily accessible to Travel and visible from the road. limited car parking facility
Indias Largest collection of musical instruments (Over 1500 musical instruments+ over 100 life-size wax statues. Fun place along with a Horror House, VR Virtual Reality & plenty of games. Museum established in October 2010 is World Recognized. A unique experience for family and groups. Ticket rates are Rs.60 per head and open on all days from 9.30am ~ 7,30pm
This is the typical wax museum you see anywhere. To be fair, they had more instruments then wax statues. The staff are a bit impolite as they keep on giving you weird looks and always say "go buy extra ticket" even if you just walk into the play zone. Very boring and unpleasant experience.
It was Beautiful✨You have got to take your kids here! This place is an inspiration to all, kids and adults! All the instruments are so well maintained. The concept of the museum is so sweet!Loved every minute of it.Its a must visit when you go to mysore!
Visited this place in 2017. Still recognise it. This place is good to bring young kids. But you can visit this place if you have more time in your tour. This place dont have so much exciting. But its a good to place to timepass here by seeing wax statues and historic items
Amazing place with historical music art collection and with some games as well
If you are a music lover, this is a good place. This museum has a huge collection of musical instruments. I saw many musical instruments here, which I have not seen anywhere else or even heard of. There are many life size wax statues. But, the museum is not maintained well. Even lighting needs to be improved. There is a shop too where you can buy small wax candles and showpieces. Worth to visit one time.
Cost is 50rs .but it worth for money.we can see wax for dhoni, modi, bahubali,Abdul Kalam...etc they almost covered all celebrities.
Its a musical wax museum.inside there is only things that are related to music and music instruments . Those who are interested in music and musical instruments may like the place .
Although they highlighted it as Wax- museum, but here collection of musical instruments is very nice. You can see tribal, traditional to modern musical instruments here in good condition.
With a theme of music, Melody World Wax Museum is one of the popular sightseeing places of the city. A heritage building of Mysore, the building of this museum is said to be more than 90 years old. It also boasts of having the largest collection of musical instruments in Karnataka. Varied kinds of musical instruments belonging to different parts of the country and ages have been displayed here.Life-size wax statues in native attires are a few of the major attractions at this museum. Display of a wide array of musical instruments, life size statues of musicians playing various instruments in out of the ordinary sets make this museum a place worth visiting.Apart from museum there is Horror World for entertainment but its not that scary and not worth for the ticket fee.The ticket charge for entering the museum is Rs.60 and if you wish to see horror world its another Rs.60.There is gender separate washroom but its not clean. They could improve on that aspect too.Apart from that it is good place for a one time visit.🧾 Cash only payment🅿️✅ Parking area available♿✅ No wheelchair accessible entrance🚻✅ Gender separate washroom available
Never ever plan to visit this place, its a waste of both time and money. Looks like someone is paying huge money to promote it as a tourist place and earn money from tourists. 60 rs entry ticket for museum and 60 rs for horror world... I would not visit this place even if someone provided free entry. Its just some wax statues holding various musical instruments and not at all maintained, it was dust everywhere like the statues have not been cleaned for ages.
Very good musium having more than 2000 musical instruments from old age to recent time
A quaint little place in the heart of the city. This non government funded museum has rhe largest collection of musical instruments in the country. At 60rs a head its a bargain. Definitely worth a visit atleast once. Needs a bit of uplifting but still not bad the way it is.
If you are a music folklore, its the right place to pitch in. Though the place looks like an antique home, it hosts world wide musical instruments and its usage from the beginning of the era. Continental wise, the music and its legacy has been showcased. As of Feb 2022, the entry fee is INR 60.
If you are intrigued about music and instruments across the world, this is your place.Entry fee as on 12/21 -₹60/- per person.Along with Wax museum its also got some fun activities and a horror world (typical scary house setup).Kindly do not expect Madame Tussauds experience. This is more of a musical experience rather than a wax museum experience. There are 100s of musical instruments on display and some antiques too. Overall a good place if you would like to kill some time in Mysore.Cons - The place could do with a bit of dusting and some use of air fresheners.Hit like if this review was helpful 😊
Poorly maintained museum. No proper tidiness inside. Staff are simply sitting, eating, chit-chatting. They do not have any interest in visitors nor try and maintain proper museum decorum. In each show item you will find display card begging for money as they do not have aid from outside. Nevertheless this is one of the sadest museum I visited. Sorry, but those items deserve much higher value and appreciation rather than eating junk here.
If you are a music enthusiast as want to know the history and background of how the modern musical instruments evolved , this is the place. You can get a knowledge of tribal musical instruments as well as instruments from all over the world.
Have a wide variety of musical instruments across world, Good for kids above 5 years of age as there are few games which only they can play. Suggested for one time visit only.
A place with abundant musical instruments and wax statues of musicians holding instruments.Looks like they need support to enhance the way it is displayed. Heaps of instruments seem to have dumped in different rooms without any details mentioned anywhere.Worth a visit anyhow!
It is a good museum which has lots of collection of instruments from within India and from abroad also. But the museum is too dusty and not maintained. I wish they can maintain the place and preserve the collections in better way
This is an amazing place if you want to know the different musical instruments used across the world. The place displays more than 1000 instruments and everything made from wax. The place is not funded by the government so they need contributions to help maintain the place. A must visit place if you are an enthusiast for musical instruments or history of them.
Recently visited this place. This place is not government founded. These place has largest collection of muscial instruments in the India. Showcasing of the models is attractive. Young ones will really enjoy this place among the cartoon statues etc. Place is well maintained by the care takes. Has washroom facility, parking facility. Ticket for mesusem is 50 and for horror show its 50 (Traded and might be subjective to availability). This place need some upgradation though like light presence interactions and fluence of information. Nobody was to explain the museum nor the writings were not clear.
If nothing goes by the paln then you can visit this place to spend an hr of quality time. Good thing about this place is.. you can come with any age group. You can visit the wax meusium if you are interested, or you can play games like archery, golf etc. There is a scary room also. Overall good experience
Amazing experience...Loved visiting here.. Indias largest and one of the best museum for musical instruments.. all type of musical instruments displayed there.. inidan europian, African, arabian, and from all other contries..The fantastic thing is this muse is run by thier own. They dont have any funding from government..Well managed..But dont go for horror meusimum.. its not that much good.. feels fake..
With a theme of music, Melody World Wax Museum is one of the popular sightseeing places of the city. Located only 3 km away from Mysore Maharaja Palace, it is easily accessible too. A heritage building of Mysore, the building of this museum is said to be more than 90 years old. It also boasts of having the largest collection of musical instruments (about 300in Karnataka. About 110 life-size wax statues in native attires are a few of the major attractions at this museum. Nice place with collection of numerous old musical instruments with wax statues. It had good collection of various kinds was statues displaying various styles of music band.Few might feel bored to keep seeing the statues but let’s give respite to to their art and collections of instruments.Premises 4/5: Was museum is renovated house which as an horror world along with it. There is a good collection of musical instruments, starting from stone age and also those used in various countries and wax statues.Needs maintenance, but heard it was well maintained before corona and they would maintain it hereafter as there are more people visting. There are some games as well for the children, which is of course paid but good place for hanging out during evening. There is a horror world, which is not scary compared to that at other places.
This place has lots of vintage musical instruments, which we have never seen anywhere in the world. Music lovers and instrument lovers will definitely love this place. It will take 25 mins to cover all the instruments to see.. Entry Fee is 50₹ per head.If u love instruments then it is a good place to see it, otherwise you can just see the pics in Google and go to some other places. checkout the pics which I have uploaded..
this Museum is in very old building entry fee is rupees 50 timing of Museum is 9:30 /7Inside there is 1200 musical instruments and 100 wax model that holding that instruments15 minutes is enough to see.Very different concept but if you r taking fees than must be present them very nice way and try to make audio sounds of that musical instruments.Light is not proper.Collection is good but presentations is badNot worth paying
This museum shows various musical instruments across the globe. One can observe their dressing style, gestures, learn about their history via information boards. It was setup in a cool environment but some rooms are little bit creepy to see.
See this Wax museum is not exactly proper wax museum this you can say original musical instrument museum because here you see more then 1200 musical instruments . Different type of countries and there musical instruments and they are original. Great to see. You can come here and enjoy to see lots of instruments. This museum is walking distance from see Shel museum and from sand museum. Here you can enjoy horror museum also like Scarry house. Ticket for wax museum is 50 rupees and 40 rupees for horror museum.
