Mel's Diner - Diner in Universal City, United States
Ive always liked Mels Diner great food. Ive been to both locations 1 at Sunset Plaza and Hollywood and Highland
Good value, the food was tasty. I did not care for how they have the menu way past where you order. Missed several small items I would have ordered because I couldnt see it.
Food was blend, and took a while to get served
Understaffed it took 45 minutes to order food with only 1 cashier.
As yo be expected, overpriced for average food in a theme park.
Food was good, service was ok, very disappointed that the milkshake machine was broken.
Overpriced slop. I got the "brisket sandwich" it wasnt brisket, it appeared to be sliced roast beef. My stepdaughters tuna melt took an additional 30 minutes after our food came out to be ready. Wasnt a good experience.
Terrible restaurantLimited menuSlower than molasses in winter timeIf at universal find another place to eat
The food was bland but otherwise OK and the service was quick. The soda machines seemed to have issues. 2 were down and the others pushed out warm drinks. 1 had no ice.
What the heck. The burgers were terribly worst. No taste Patties. I should have checked the reviews first. Shut down this place. Overall the food options at Universal aren’t good. -1 star if I can give
Worst burger ever, total rip-off of your money for a tasteless burger. Wasted $70+ . Also took about an hour to get order and food. Deserve less than zero stars. Close it down please
Its a decent meal but very expensive. Plus, if you want a fountain drink refill, its gonna cost you another 5 dollars!!
We ordered 2 funnel cakes with strawberry sauce from the Universal Studios location. They were hard as a rock! The plastic knife wouldnt even cut them. The few bites I did eat tore up my gums. My mouth was still sore 2 days later. Very expensive garbage! Worst funnel cakes we ever had.
The food was fine..we were able to get water for free...which was a plus. The price for the kids meal was good.
Was an old fashioned diner!! Milkshakes are incredible!! The food was good! Service was great!
Wow. This place was terrible. I don’t even know how they’re still open. We order the spicy chicken sandwich and it was awful. Flavors terrible oily just all around a bad sandwich. It definitely wasn’t worth the $12. Shoot it wasn’t worth a dollar off of McDonald’s value meal. The burgers were burnt and dry. This may be the worst restaurant at a theme park I have ever tasted around the world.
Couldnt believe how inexpensive it was for the 4 of us to here. Especially for being inside Universal Studios! The burgers were not small and were very delicious, fresh and tasty. Ill warn you guys though, dont fall for that $18 souvenir refillable cup they try to sell you, you can only get a refill every 10 minutes and only that day. Any day after that its $11 to refill it again all day. I found it better to buy a character souvenir cup that comes with one free fill up and refill it for $1.50 any time. Its bigger and holds a lot more. Other than that definitely try Mels Diner!
I wait for more than 30 mm ins to place the order. Another 20 mins for the food. However, it tastes good.
Decent food, but they didn’t even have lettuce or any toppings.
The place is pretty busy but it worth the wait. The lemonade was perfect not too sweet not sour either. And their burgers are just amazing.
The Hot Chicken sandwich was far from hot... hell, it was cold, tough, oily. For $15 I expected a little better quality. Will not be eating here again.Order was sitting on the counter behind another order.. took almost 5 minutes for me to get my food.Kitchen Staff:If youre not ready to hand out a customers order leave it under the warmer.DO NOT EAT HERE!!
Food was ok, tasted like Dennys food or IHOP nothing special the salad was a joke..pictures never do it justice.......
Very overpriced for a hot dog or a hamburger got our order wrong very rushed poor customer service
Awesome food. Great and fast service. Really loved it. When I come back to California, I will most definitely get again.
The burgers didnt taste good, the patties didnt look like real beef patties, paid $80 bucks for 4 burgers that was wasted. My kids didnt like it.
Best burgers and fries in Universal Studios. Would of been 4 stars if the milkshake machine wasnt down.
Managed to get almost every detail of our order wrong and after they screwed everything up did very little to fix it. The guy taking our order could’ve just closed his eyes and pressed random buttons and it would’ve been the same amount of accuracy to our order. By far the worst food service I’ve ever gotten from an amusement park.
Horrible food and way over priced. The buns where stale and hard as rock , the meat was burnt and almost black. The chicken tenders I ordered for my son were so burnt that , that you couldn’t bite into them because they were rock solid & were almost dark brown. Waste of money. Horrible food taste. Everything tasted old and stale. Stay away from this one.
The food is greasy disgusting and way overpriced. Music is too loud so they cant hear your order, and automatically uprade $4 water to $5 no matter which you ask for. And you can only use the soda fountains if you pay $17 for a souvenir cup? Service is fast at least.
Terrible. This diner needs to be inspected. The food was awful. Idk why this is even in universal.
Good service. Our cashier, Avalon, was super nice! She made our lunch time meal to be great. All because of her great attitude and friendly spirit!!The food was good except for the burger buns. The buns were cold and seemed not to be as fresh as expected but... still... Mels was good.
I dont like to give low stars but this Mels in Universal was not up to their usual par. Meat was dry and not sure what. Service was order and hope to find a seat. Cashiers were quick and friendly.
Where do I even begin. You pay a ton of money to get in and honestly it was worth every penny! However you wait in line for Mel’s Diner for 35 min then you order. Your given a number you then wait for your number to be called then you start to wonder why your number has not been called when all the numbers after your number is being called. So you ask and the manager looks at you like your crazy. Chefs not wearing gloves over cooked meet in trays you ask and ask after waiting for another 30 min and only after being insistent you finally get your order. Oh but it’s cold and completely wrong! Is it worth complaining….no cause the manager whom can’t manage his way out of a paper bag won’t care anyways so you spend $80 on wrong cold food! Avoid this place at all cost! Don’t waste your time or money here! Go any where else in the park! Universal is full of great food just not this place! Stay away!
There were no milkshakes. As an adult you can only purchase 1 beer with your own ID. If you need to get one for your spouse, she must accompany you through line, and show her ID
Bad service, and expensive for the little plate of food. I buy a burger for me and my friend, the meat was a little cold, it had no flavor, the bread was cold to. It came just with fries. I had to pay $10 more for two small drinks.
I just cant rate the place very high. They gouged us hard. 3 plates of food, 3 hamburgers, fries, drinks for $80. Yeah no. Staff were night, might as well have been automated... Sad.
We ate at the one inside Universal studios. It was raining really hard; there was a long line and very limited seating inside. We ordered a basic cheeseburger meal and a drink. The patty was dry, and some of us were not given any lettuce, tomatoes with our meal. Im not sure why. It was too cold, wet, and we were hungry to complain.
Partner and I went here to eat while we were in the park for new years. Big mistake. We both ordered tuna melts. I found thick beard hair in my sandwich, and the next day my partner was throwing up and sick. Absolutely disgusting, especially for such expensive food.
Worst place to eat in universal studio. I got no way to describe the ordering process and waiting for food process beside calling it a $#it show. The manager needs to be fired. Food not coming out on the order the food was received. People getting the wrong food and no one is even apologizing. Just go eat somewhere else.
I tried the mels burger which had good flavor but there are 2 things that bugged me. #1 the onions rings in the burger are so small. The picture shows it being the size of the patty but these where like the size of a pickle, #2 the cheese on the burger wasnt melted it looks like they just cooked it waited a minute then smacked the cheese on it. Other than that its an OK burger will give them one more chance to redeem themselves. Also I should mention that if you like special sauce on burgers ask for extra since they kinda pit a dime size on my burger
Although $15 for a meal with no beverage was steeeeeep, the Chicken Sandwich was amazing, probablythe best Ive had in a very long time!! And they had my beloved crushed ice !!❤❤❤❤❤
I think its a shame to call this place Mels. Ive visited many Mels diners so I have an expectation. In no way did this live up to any expectation. But what did I expect from a theme park restaurant. TbH McDonalds milkshakes are better.
The food was great. It tasted so good and the portions were a pretty good size. There was an employee there, I believe his name was Chad, who went above and beyond to help us. Hes the best
Cannot more highly recommend Taste of Universal. Its a fun way to enjoy things and you get 5 free meal coupons. What could be better? Great way to relax and theyre taking care with social distancing during the pandemic.
It looks so awesome from the outside, but the food is not worth the time and money. There are a lot of much better restaurants within the park.
The burger was ok but the fries were cold and unsalted. They didnt serve fresh 100% concentrate juice only Natchan sugary junk.Overpriced at ¥1,600 for a set!I asked for no ice and they reduced the amount of drink in the cup! Stingy!I dont recommend this place!I want to give it 0 stars!!!!
Had the chicken burger with the tater tots, I was very disappointed to find out the chicken was dry. Price I payed for not worth it, defenetly dine somewhere else.
This price for this meal was a rip-off. To cut costs, it appears the restaurant didnt even offer fries. All orders had "tater tots?" What is the deal with that? I took a picture of the chocolate shake - tasty but so chintzy. These parks wonder why people bring food in! It is so expensive to eat and the food is poor. If the owners of Mels saw how poor and overpriced the food is Im sure they would move out of there!
When I was on my holidays I thought the food here was enjoyable and the atmosphere was nice! One of the touches that made it for me is the fact that we were seated in boots and they had a jukebox. I enjoyed playing the jukebox. It was also fun if you left it alone as when it would come on it would come on at random so it was interesting to hear what was coming up next. Overall I had a nice experience here.
I got a Vegan burger, was big and yummy.. it comes with fries. If there was other option IN THE PARK! i wouldve went. we did go to 2 other places but turned around because either they didnt offer what i saw online. Or the vegan pizza they could make would cost 50$ after so long of running around. Ended it here. Was good but i mean...really. For 12 $ I should have more fries then that. It looked like i got a kid potion. Even my son would eat more fries then that. Luckily i had snacks cause wow! Oh and it doesnt come with a drink. Not that its important but like i am saying. 12 plus tax. This half portion cost me almost 15$. At least fill the freaking basket! Not that it cost you much to make fries.
