Artful sushi & other Japanese fare presented in a dramatic, luxury setting at The Leela Palace.
Megu Restaurant in Delhi
Description
Privilege
After all we were at the Leela Palace and they wont compensate with the quality of food they serve. Food was very tasty. We had Veg Sushis out there and it was exactly what we had expected. As far as service is concerned, they also didnt give us any point to complain. And again its the Leela Palace bro, atmosphere has to be well standard and they have maintained it to the fullest.
MoreWent to celebrate our wedding anniversary at Meghu ... Had heard a lot about the place ... The drinks were very nice and done just right kudos to the mixologist ... The restaurant was kind enough to bake a cake for us which was a really nice gesture ... We ordered the crab salad, corn tempura and lobster sushi roll ... Unfortunately they were out of crab and were unable to serve the salad ... The corn and sushi was ok ... The lobster was not fresh and after deep frying there was nothing much to taste of the lobster... The corn tempura was also very average looked like some froze corn nuggets fried with a Mayo sauce... We were not overly impressed with the starters and decided to skip the dinner...
MoreMegu is meant to be one of the top 50 restaurants in Asia. I went with a friend for dinner and we ordered quite a few things : tuna ceviche, sushi platter, desserts and drinks. We were quite excited to go, and while it was nice, it was not mind-blowing. I was expecting a lot due to the reputation and the price but the fish and seafood was simply not as fresh as it shouldve been. Ambience is okay, nothing great either. Its quite and calm for a casual dinner. The miso ice cream was good and the drinks were just okay. I ordered a white wine sangria and it was honestly just low quality white wine with fruits. For the prices of these drinks to see them using cheaper alcohol was odd, they use beefeater in the cocktails and charge extra for anything higher. When a drink is inr 2500 that doesnt make any sense to me.
MoreMost authentic Japanese restaurant
Good vegetarian options, small cozy place. Informed servers.
So yesterday we decided and after reservation went to Megu , I gave been to this fine dining many times before the lockdown.Food is pathetic , pathetic starters to extent we couldnt finish a single dish. Chicken dish was overcooked and chewy n rubbery. Finally, we told the person looking after us and he called the chef but they were not considerate at all . They charged us for all the dishes even when we returned the chicken dish.Dont go to this place, it sucks.
MoreAmateur chef, overpriced for the level of skill
Our wedding anniversary dinner 2022 was at Megu since we both love Japanese cuisine. The sushi, etc. was authentic though one should be cautious while ordering from the menu (lest be charged more). For its setting, courtesy of staff, personal care and quality, Megu deserves our approbation.
MoreGood authentic japanese cusine. Service was great too
The clean cut serene ambience starts off your gastronomic journey. With the whole restaurant covered with depictions of old Japanese culture, our journey to the land of the rising sun had started already. There are old Kimono silks on the walls and origami decorations at the Sushi bar. Winters are a time of celebrations in Japan and the new winter menu showcases that. There are a plethora of root vegetables and cold water seafood on offer. The appetisers included Hokkaido King Crab with Ikura. The sweet flavours of the steamed crab combine with the Soya Salmon Roe. Each of the roe explodes with flavours of sea and nuttiness. Nanohana is the next appetiser and it consists of Japanese Rapeseed plant cooked in a broth. The pungent taste of the rapeseed plant is similar to that of mustard and is something that all Bengalis will enjoy.A glass of cold sake down, the Sushi and Sashimi platter looked too beautiful to disturb. The Blue Fin tuna stood out with its bright red colour while the Peony shrimp impresses with its sweet flavour. The Miso Chicken roll is the Chefs grandfathers old recipe. We combine it with some avocado and fresh ground Wasabi. One thing to notice is the seamless use of modern ingredients and cooking styles to the traditional Japanese food to twist it to mouth watering levels.Lets come to the Soup of Samurai now. The Zoni soup is derived out of vegetables along with yuzu, dashi and soy. It is further enriched with braised duck and a sticky, chewy mochi rice cake. Japanese soups are supposed to be slurped right from the bowl and this is what we do. The warm flavours on a cold wintery afternoon are a blessing. The mains consist of two fishes, one is a Chilean Sea Bass and the other is a Black Cod. The Chilean Bass is flavoured with a sweet soy sauce. The Daikon pickle and Ginger root add a few more layers of sweetness to it. The Black Cod on the other hand is cooked with a dashi sauce and tofu balancing out the sweet and salty.Well, the Bengali in me can never be too impressed by sweets of another area but this is where Megu surprises me again. The Black Sesame macaroon, the Yuzu lemon tart and Wasabi flavoured Red Velvet showcased the genius creativity of the team at Megu. Some green tea to wash off the effects of the Sake and we were set for the day. Do try out Megu for some premium quality Japanese.
MoreGreat place! An incredible experience! Food served was incredibly flavourful. The staff knows what they are upto, just a bit slow to react.
MoreExcellent food and service.
The best Japanese food ever!!!!!!Youll never get tired of it even if you come 20 times a year!!!!
MoreIts the most worst place to have japanese restaurant. If anybody has ever had authentic Japanese food then this is certainly not the right place to go to. If you are a first timer and have no idea what Japanese food tastes like then you may like it.I visited this ridiculous place on just a week back and had the most horrifying experience. the ambience is good but the food is pathetic. We ordered sushi which was raw in the middle, certainly sushi grade salmon or tuna was not used. I cannot believe the ignorance of these people that they run a restaurant and do not know the grade of fish to use. Now the Salmon steak was bitter probably because it was too old or because the chef put too much soy sauce and burnt it. The next day I fell sick due to food poisoning because of having raw fish and then the stale fish served as Salmon steak. Please do not serve Thukpa and call it Ramen. Both are different and both have a different taste and a different way of preparation. Putting noodles in water and serving it doesnt make it RAMEN.There is some problem with the menu too as they have not even listed the items properly. Salmon roll is available but they have not mentioned it on the menu. Are we supposed to guess what is available in your restaurant? Now the 2 Guards standing at the exit have some major issues with serving the guests leaving. They behave like they own the place, no humility at all. Horrible experience at Leela Palace and Megu restaurant. Will not be trying anything out here again.
MoreRoyal experience. A must visit place if u want to try some japanese food. Must try tempura and sushi...
MoreOutstanding food. Service done by Mr. Pawan was spotless
My overall experience was phenomenal, looking forward for the next visit.
Nice restaurant, food is delicious. Service was good thanks to Anowar ☺️
The food quality has fallen since I visited about 3 years back. Impeccable Service totally makes up for it.
MoreMegu Restaurant is signature Japanese Restaurant in Lela Hotel at Chanakyapuri New Delhi. Ambience is really good. Preparation and taste of Japanese food is also very good, plus it is authentic Japanese food. Staff is very friendly. It is a physically challenged person friendly place. Toilet is also very neat and clean. You can pay both by card or cash.
MoreSophisticated, crafted food, a genuine fine dining experience.
Always a fantastic experience . Best sushi in Delhi hands down
one of the best Japanese restaurant in the citybeautiful ambience , amazing decor, attentive staff , amazing service , scrumptious food
MoreWow! Went here on my birthday and what a good decision to do so!! The sushi was amazing!! The pork belly was a perfect roast and the edamame dumplings and prawn hargao were fab too! Was quite lovely. Staff took all covid precautions, and the service is excellent!
MoreOutdoor sitting is nice. Noodles and sushi very amazing. Fried rice can be a miss.
MoreA beautiful serene place for a special occasion. The food is lovely. I suppose its got some of the most authentic Japanese food in town (cant say for sure, having never been to Japan). Its steeply priced, but that is a given, considering its at the Leela. The lunch set menus are excellent.
MoreI received a dose of food poisoning thanks to the staff at Megu restaurant. Spent the night in the bathroom and a further 24hrs of discomfort. It ruined an otherwise delightful stay at hotel Leela.
MoreMegu was a lovely experience overall. The food was fabulous and the staff super friendly. It took my taste buds back on a journey of exquisite seafood that they had experienced during my brief stint in Gotham city. One of the few places in India where good seafood can be had without much caution.

MoreBest Japanese food in Delhi hands down.
Love the food and stories around them. Especially the Orashigane (Japanese graterfor the wasabi.
MoreOutstanding food with an innovative menu and highly responsive service.
Megu is the Japanese Speciality Restaurant located in The Leela Palace , New Delhi. Megu was one of the first Michelin Starred Restaurant to open its door in India ( New York Megu has a Michelin star). Once you enter the beautiful property , is when the experience starts . The courteous hotel staff greeted us and were willing to walk us down to the Restaurant. Megu is located in the right hand corner of the lobby area , just next to the library bar , giving it a nice secluded feel. It was Saturday night and we had our reservation , which helped us secure our table as after sometime the whole restaurant was packed. The wait staff took us to our table and greeted us wonderfully. The restaurant is divided into multiple sections - a main dining room, Sushi table next to the chef and another dining room. We luckily were given our seat in the Main Dining room , which is the place to be. The ambience is just amazing , dark in the colour tone but with more than enough light . The centre piece of attraction is the giant Buddha Statue Sculpted out of Glass and on top of it a giant Japanese Bell with red on the inside , just makes for a perfect look. We were attended by definitely the best Server or Manager in the place and his name was Pavan. He was just very warm and welcoming . He helped us in ordering and answering all questions we had. Before the menu was given to us we were given Wet Towels to clean our hands . That in itself is a great sign of service and its very rarely seen in restaurants. We had a glass of Red Wine along with our food which was very nice and was the Fratelli Sette. We ordered 3 starters , 2 Mains and a rice on his recommendation and honestly it was way more than what we could have , so at the end of the Meal we had to pack quite a bit of food. The food served here is Japanese but mostly Modern Japanese. And most of the things we ordered , actually just by our food choice and preference , were the signature dishes of the restaurant. For starters we ordered - Yellowtail Carpaccio , Dragon Sushi Roll and Chicken Yakitori Skewers. The Yellowtail Carpaccio and Dragon Rolls were Signature dishes. The first dish to arrive was the Yellowtail Carpaccio . Carpaccio inherently is an Italian Dish of very Thinly Slices Meat with a sauce or an oil . Japanese cuisine also incorporated this style of food but use japanese sauces and fish instead of meat . We ordered the Yellowtail Carpaccio which came with 7 pieces of Yellowtail , so thinly sliced that it was close to transparent. The Fish was topped with an Onion Jam , Daikon Oroshi Dressing , Crispy Garlic Chips and Mushrooms. Once the dish was placed , Pavan told us that all their Fish comes from the world famous Tsukiji Market of Japan . The dish was excellent , very beautiful and tasty . The fish was light and the Dressing really highlighted the fish very beautifully. The Garlic Chip just gave a great contrast to the light flavour and the mushrooms just added a great delicate mouth feel to the dish. Amazing dish and very well executed. Next dish to come to our table was the Dragon Sushi Roll , Another Signature Dish. They have traditional Nigiris , Sushi and Sushi Rolls . Sushi Rolls generally are 5-6 Pieces , but the Dragon roll is the only sushi roll which comes with 8 pieces . The Sushi comes along with Ginger and Wasabi , but they even brought out a fresh root of Wasabi which Pavan Grated in front of us to serve us Fresh Wasabi. The Fresh Wasabi was amazing , I am a fan of Wasabi but the fresh Wasabi was next level for sure. The Sushi was beautiful . The Dragon Roll consists of Avocado and Tempura Flakes on top , drizzled with Dragon sauce. The Seafood used in the Sushi is - Shrimp , Crab and Eel. The Sushi was stuffed with loads of seafood and the size of each Sushi was great . Flavour no doubt was the best I have had and really the combination of seafood with avocado and Tempura Flakes was great . The Dragon sauce was a bit sweet and spicy at the same time. Highly recommend this Sushi for first time goers as they will love it . Next was the Chicken Yakitori.
MoreMegu is known as superior Japanese fine-dining. This place is also well known as quite pricey restaurant among Japanese people. I understand its because this restaurant is situated in Leela Palace and they use high grade ingredient. But I heard a great news that Mr. Shimomura has appointed as a head chef in Megu from February. He used to work in Bangalore, all Japanese people who lives in Bangalore loved his food. I had no hesitation flying to Delhi to have his taste again. Now they offer new lunch set menu with reachable price. In addition to his stable great taste, presentation is also wonderful. As they have a separated rooms, I highly recommend to the Japanese expats and even to the ladies to use this place for a lunch meeting. For the local Indians, you can first try these lunch menu to taste authentic Japanese food. Good luck for new Megu, chef Shimomura, and all well trained attentive staff.
MoreHad a great time here. Made my day to have a lunch here at wonderful restuarant
Nice decor, courteous staff and good food. Overall good.
It has authentic flavours and great ambience with very polite and good staff
Wow. Hard to believe that such a place is in Delhi. Amazing Rock Shrimp and great flavor for Ramen. It is not cheap with the Chicken Ramen being almost $17USD and the Rock Shrimp is $28USD. Worth the price for a special occasion.
MoreThis statue of Buddha is made of optical glass. It has big value. Its kept in the centre of Megu restaurant. Its kept in the centre pond. Its a previous statue. It has healing properties. If someone has pain in any part of the body (say its knee, one has to pour water on knee (of statuethree times, its said that the person gets cured.
MoreIt is a fantastic place to have authentic Japanese good
Best japanese food across delhi
Very nice, pricey obviously but quite worth it.
Very high class dining. Service that excells in every way thinkable. I have dined in fine restaurants all over the world and last nights meal was one of the top, if not THE top meal and experience I have had.
MoreAmbience ExcellentService ExcelllentFood PoorWe asked for some starters and some main course. Chicken on skewers was burnt. Baby chicken was bad. No taste. Oriental curry was good. Fried rice was ok. California role was good. Mostly the food was mild without flavors. Best was salted caramel fondant. Value for money was unsatisfactory.I might go there for the ambience and with the hope of better food. Wouldn’t yet recommend it to my friends.Rajeev Gopal
MoreLiterally MEGU means "love" or "affection" which is apt to the name of the restaurant.Talk about the food and its worth going to have either lunch or dinner. This restaurant serves modern japanese cuisine in an authentic manner.Chefs are creative and are skilled. Service is just amazing and the staff is attentive as well as courteous.
MoreMaybe the best place for sushi in New Delhi! Quality of fish tasted fresh out of the water. I would definitely recommend visiting this place if you are nearby or staying at the Leela. Just a heads up, it is very expensive...but well worth it!The place itself has a beautiful atmosphere and decor, the photos do not justify reality! Service was brilliant too, I ended up having a wonderful conversation with the floor manager (cannot remember his namehe, and his staff were great and made our meal memorable!I will 100% make sure that I visit this place again, the menu had to much to try in one sitting! Oh well, its an excuse to come again!
MoreExcellent Japanese food. Especially for the Vegetarian Platter.
Megu left me enthralled by its sheer magnificence and excellent food. Those who can must experience this opportunity to enjoy Japanese food in an uber luxurious setting. The sashimi is the best Ive ever eaten, scallops from Hokkaido. The wine list is expansive and thoroughly researched.
MoreLove Megus bento - good value for a sampling of sashimi, miso soup, chawan mushi, two small portions of mains (I like the pork belly yakitori and lamb chop), picked veggies, and fruits. Good service.
MoreMegu is located inside the posh Leela boutique hotel. The classy interiors and luxuriant atmosphere created here will certainly leave one mesmerized. The service is quite excellent. this is the place to go for a fine dine Japanese food experience although on a costlier side. But totally worth spending the money. A visit is recommended!!
