Mega Tom's Charbroiled Burgers in Barstow

Friendly staff. I got a chicken salad and was impressed. Fresh lettuce and the chicken was well marinated and had a great flavor. The only con is that the location is outdated and it almost gives you the creeps. There are not many of these traditional charbroiled burger joints in Barstow, it might be worth to give it a makeover to attract locals, visitors and people passing through town. The food is good.

I got the garden burger and threw it away! It was soggy with a ring around it.Others with me threw out their food too.

The ladies were very nice but the food wasn’t fresh, bacon was hard so BLT went to waste.

Hidden gem, clean dining room, great personalized service, took the time to go over the best menu options, good food and good portions, we had the pastrami burger and pastrami sandwich. Both very tasty, you will not go away hungry.

I ordered a chili cheese burger it was totally dry and onion rings and they were burnt i see y somebody came in after me and they got there food before me

I was ordering food and had to Cancel.I was watching the cook in the back and he was sweating ok no problem but not ok when he cleans hes sweet from his forehead with his bear hand and kept on cooking grabbing the food and we made eye contact hoping he go and wash his hands nope that didnt happen so thats why Had to Cancel order and walk out . Place not to clean either.

Passing through from Las Vegas to San Diego craving a burger. Nice, roomy restaurant with friendly staff and an extensive menu with something for everyone. Saw a taco plate and tried that instead. Fabulous! Bypass fast food and try this!

I often stop at Toms in Barstow on my way to and from Las Vegas. Ive been doing this since 1996, so you know its good!I downrated Toms one point because this time I experienced they need to fix the restrooms. The restroom is clean, but one of the urinals is not functioning.Great burgers, and my favorite juicy Pastrami sandwich combo. I add Swiss cheese to my order. The combo order comes with a very generous order of fries and free soda refills.

Recommend this as a dine or drive thru before road trips. My family and I always stop here for breakfast before our river trips. Breakfast is and dinner is great.

We stopped at Toms due to my husband wanting to reminisce about his childhood growing in LA and the food he would eat from this restaurant. I was extremely apprehensive because of how it looked from the outside. So, I will say official do not "always" judge things by how they look! So, when I got inside the restaurant it was really clean! It was mildly busy. When we finally got to the counter the cashier excused herself to help someone, but then someone else just showed up to help us. She was extremely professional going over the menu with us and talking about LA with my husband. After we ordered I realized she had left her break and meal to come over to assist us. Now that is great customer service! I had to thank her for taking time from her own break to assist us to take our order. From the front counter you can see into the kitchen area and it was clean. You could see the efficiency of the two gentlemen that were cooking that they knew their jobs and did it excellently. During our visit I also visited the restroom and again was surprised that it too was so clean by having papertowels, tissues, and floors were clean. Now I wish they had better hand soap, because it was watered down but at least they had something. Now the food! OMG!! THE SERVINGS ARE HUGE!! My husband and I had to share our pastrami burrito and it was delicious!!! I will not lie I wanted to go to sleep afterwards! In the end, the customer service and the food was awesome! But if you are trying to watch your figure 😏 this is not the place to go! However, if you are looking for a great cheat day/comfort food this is the place! Oh and the prices are great too!🤑😇

If your pregnant check your meat I got a cheese burger combo the meat was pink inside, I noticed when I got home not only did I have to drive all the way back I didnt get a full refund the manager looked at my food and said it was fine she would eat it like that I told her I am pregnant I cant eat raw meat she tried to convince me to just get it made fresh I said no just give me my money back all I got was part of the refund and she made it very difficult for me ... horrible customer service and the fries were drenched in oil and were mushy I know they were busy but at least take the time to actually cook the food right instead of potentially making your customers sick I will no longer be eating here.

Great Food, Nice Staff even as busy as they were..

First, the drive thru was confusing: theres no window, youre just supposed to drive to the end of the lane and wait there. But then nobody came out. I finally parked and went to go inside the restaurant but then the cashier came out to take my card, along with three others. Disconcerted by the disorganization, I told her Id bring it inside myself. Outside the entrance smelled like sewer gas. Inside, there were tables left full of half-eaten food and the restaurant looked dirty. I was a little concerned about eating my food. Did I eat my burger? Yes I did. And it wasnt bad, though I texted my final goodbyes to my wife just in case.Next time Ill wait in the crazy McDonalds line instead.

We ordered the pastrami sandwich.Seriously awful. If youve ever had real pastrami, this isnt it! It was chewy and stringy.We threw most of it away and just finished off the fries.Very disappointed. Save your money.Bathrooms were dirty, in ill repair and restaurant needed some serious updating. Oh yeah, and the air conditioning wasnt working properly.

Been eating here for years and after tonight Ill never eat here again. It was terrible, food was sloppy, cold, tasted old, service was bad, got the order wrong, the cup for the drinks were old like they have been wet or out of the trash or something. Go to foster freeze instead way better and cheaper.

I live this spot. Its way better option for buyers then i&o or mcds. I have always gotten a Tom’s famous burger. I’m have the other stuff which is decent but it’s really their burgers where they shine. Hidden gem.

The food here is delicious and we’ve been coming for years on our way back home from the river but this trip my Dad used the bathroom and came out disgusted!!! 🤮 the owner needs to invest in the men’s bathroom for his customers!!!

I got the steak and eggs 🥚, the cook did a good job. Order at the counter and the meal is brought to you. The pricing is reasonable.

I gave a 3 rating because of the bathrooms! The food was good but had I visited the bathroom first, I would have left! Poorly flushing toilets and the air hand dryers dont work.

Its so dirty and nasty. The mens bathroom smells and looks like they never clean it in years. Its also run down the owners need to replace a lot of things. First thing should be the bathrooms the same toilet has been broke for over a year now. The one in Apple valley is a lot nicer and really did a great job on the remodel.

Went when our greyhound stopped here, I got a chocolate milkshake and it was delicious. Bathrooms were clean.

Stopped in off the highway on a road trip. Great diner type atmosphere. Everyone was having a good time. I had their Charbroiled Burgers, and it was very good.

Its not the most glamorous place (think old school), but the food and service have never let us down heading back home from Lost Wages. Its better than dealing with the nonsense next door at the train McDonalds.

The food was 👍 but they need more people in the front desk.... I would go back the hamburgers are delicious and the fries are really good, didnt take any pictures but definitely recommend the place...

Pastrami, Pastrami, Pastrami is the best. Theyve been making their own for many years. Variety of choices on the menu will satisfy any craving.

All I can say is you have to stop here for whatever youre hungry for. The pastrami theyre famous for is in fact well earned 👏 . My pastrami burger was big and delicious 😋. What a wide variety of menu choices that will satisfy your craving. Definitely will be a must stop from now on. Looking forward to my next visit to try other things on the menu.

Good food, kind of expensive.......Negative was manager screaming at her employees in front of the entire restaurant.Very unprofessional to say the least. My personal suggestion is to Praise in Public and Criticize in Private.

Imagine Dennys ... As a mom n pop joint. Whalla you have Tom and his Mega Burgers. You also get the native feel as they cook your food blasting mariachi music. El Tomo es Chicano? The food was good. Really. And it was affordable. But honestly I forgot all about my visit here until I started going through my photos.

Found this place just driving by. Im a lover of burgers so I had to stop in. What a selection of food! I had a double cheese burger with pastrami and bacon. Now while the burger was not in my top ten ranking it was however not far behind. The fries were on point! They got those down to a science. I would recommend this place to others and eat here again.

Mega Tom’s Charbroiled Burgers is a very old outdated restaurant. It does dine in or takeout. The restaurant had a funny smell when eating inside. The burgers are ok tasting and did have a charbroiled taste but nothing special. The French fries were good. The staff is very nice and fast at getting the food out.

Id give it 3 stars except the pastrami sandwich is amazing. Service is good And which was amazing bathrooms nasty So if you have to go to the bathroom and sit down probably would avoid that. That being said you have to try the pastrami Its fantastic‼️

This place was an okay-ish food to eat. Alot of mixed foods from different cultures, what caught my eye was that the salsa looked a bit brown not even a red color. Ive got a burrito combo but all I got was just a burrito with a drink; service was okay too its just a family business but 2 little boys like 10 maybe working there? And doesnt know who ordered what.. the onions where bug chunks and the bathroom in the womens didnt even have soap at all.

Where to begin? Meat was freezer burnt and dry. And even it hadnt been freezer burnt, some spices would have been appreciated so that the meat didnt taste like meat.The food did not taste good. I hate throwing money away. And we ran from the place. We were starving when we walked in. Now cant get the bad taste our of my mouth.Menu should list ingredients. Pancakes should state cornmeal pancakes.Consciously, I understand cuisine varies by area.And I understand covid has affected businesses. But still...

If your on your way to Vegas and need a quick stop, but you dont want to wait in the long lines at McDonalds, stop here. They have bathrooms and the lines are not as long. However, the prices are a bit steeper than McDonalds. So, be aware of that. On the plus side, the amount of food you get is decently sized.

One of the best pastrami sandwiches in the west. Clean accommodations, very well managed and a delightful stop on the way to Las Vegas. We highly recommend this establishment, perfect for tour buses as they can accommodate large groups of people. Thumbs up. John

We needed to find somewhere to eat with lots of styles of food as we had a large group with a wide age range. We ordered at the counter and then located a large table to eat at. The food was brought out individually as made. The place has a very 80/90s diner feel.

The food was excellent! The service was fast and super friendly. Hubby loved the world famous pastrami sandwich and the cheese steak is the bomb !

The woman at the counter was really nice. She was quick to take my order and then prepare it for me. I got a Coke and a chocolate shake. The place was pretty quiet since it was about 7.45 at night. It was also very clean and organized. I hadnt been to this restaurant in awhile but its still good. Would for sure recommend if youre looking for a quick place to sit down and eat. Or if youre on the run and dont wanna get out of the car, they also have a drive through.

The worse ever, the dining area tables are full of plates where people have left their uneaten meals, trash blowing around outside. My wife ordered a chili Verde burrito, that only had beans in it, when I approached the cashier she gave me a small plate with some meat on it to put in the burrito......dont waste your time, go eat somewhere in victorville or hesperia if your on your way to vegas. Eat before barstow.

Fairly dirty but decent attempt at Americans charm. Would prefer not dining with the bin lid and if the chef wore his COVID mask over his mouth and nose rather than chin but food’s ok.I hate pickles.

Good size portions for the price. The overall cleanliness isn’t outstanding (no paper towels in the restroom or working hand dryer). Friendly staff and the service was quick.

This place never disappoints I love eating here when I’m in Barstow all the food is great a little pricey but so worth it!!!! Best chilli Frys everrrrr

Did not enjoy my chicken strips. I like honey mustard, not ranch. The aroma of an unflushed toilet and small yellow pond of urine below the urinal gives me a true understanding of a roadside gas station bathroom. I could not make up my mind which is worse the cleanliness of the restaurant or taste of the food. I ordered chicken strips only to find out they dont have honey mustard. Save yourself a trip to the emergency room and keep driving.
