Mega One Triton Shipwreck - Tourist attraction in Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos Islands
Stunning! Worth the 25 minute walk from port to Governers beach. Only about 20 sunbeds that were taken already but our towels were fine. Bring your own drinks as theres nothing here but toilets. The sand is beautiful and the sea water nice and refreshingUpdated February 2020 - Shipwreck is almost gone during big excavation project. BUT this does mean the beautiful Governers beach will be restored to its full spectacular glory. We took a 20 minute walk and as always, well worth getting away from the busy port and enjoy the spectacular white sand and warm clear sea. No lifeguards here but there are now a few tuck shops including Ruth who has cold drinks and snacks for a good price, including sun beds. Taxi also available
Interesting old shipwreck, when we were there last week there was a Salvage barge with a heavy crane and crew working on cutting up this wreck...
Was an eye sore it now being cut up and moved
When we came in Carnival Breeze today our beach time was right next to this wreck and there was a Salvage crew working on cutting it up to haul it away....Today, 02/20/2020 they were working on torching off a substantial portion of the bow structure. I will try to post some pictures of this operationslater.
This is an amazing beach to go to dont tell anyone but you can jump off the boat
Very cool
The beach there is beautiful and clean
Beautiful beach. Huge conch shells great food
Nice little place to relax
Easy walk from the Cruise terminals along the road. There is a beach bar right there and a volleyball court to keep you entertained. Always cool to have a shipwreck for a backdrop.
Great little get away. Quiet beach without a lot of other tourists.
I was so glad to be able to visit Amber Cove, just so we could take photos of this shipwreck on Governors Beach. Its about a 1 mile walk from the ship, but a partial section of your walk needs to be on the road.
Good site
Very nice beach! Would go back!
Beautiful site to see
It serves as a nice backdrop for photos, but watch out for broken glass along the beach. I kept my water shoes on while in the water.
one of the most scenic beaches Ive ever visited. Clear blue waters, lots of fish swimming around, relatively secluded. A very cool experience.
I think this is also known as Govenors beach. Its beautiful and a nice contrast from the usual tourist beach. My cousin and I were the first ones there that day and had the beach to ourselves for about 30 minutes. Its not crowded at all. There were free roaming horses and donkeys. I wish I would have packed my beach bag with apples and carrots to feed them.
Beautiful water and beach! Loved this area. Great place to find sea glass.
Loved the beach here and the party bud was lit!!!!
Very little tourist traffic to the area which makes it a huge plus. Governors Beach is all right. Facilities are very low but it was fun for the family to spend 30 minutes there.
Close to the cruise terminal very nice beach, few people. You can also find some shade. To reach it you can go left from the terminal on the beach all the way to the end then go out on the main road, continue left and then at the next intersection left. The beach there is very nice and empty
I arrived by sailboat and it has the clearest of water right next to the Shipwreck and some amazing diving
It was so cool And amazing and that ship was from the haricain 2 years ago
I understand theyre trying to figure out ways to clean it up and that its unsafe, but it does look pretty darn cool.
Nice beach, ship and the rocks are great for snorkeling
The most peaceful & beautiful place Ive ever been.
It was absolutely beautiful place to relax with the family....
Awesome place to explore, great snorkeling under the ship, ands also nearby at a rock outcropping.
The beach is phenomenal
Consider this an eye sore on the otherwise beautiful Governors beach, Grand Turk. An unfortunate situation and an example of how we unintentionally harm our environment.
Beautiful beach around the shipwreck. Amazing clear water at this beach.
A must see when you are at the Governors beach.
Have your tetanus shots updated if youre thinking about climbing it.
Grand Turk is beautiful. Rent a golf cart and you can travel the whole island. Safe for just you and your family. Best port on our cruise.
Pretty cool sight. Walked from port not too far. Nice beach with chairs and shade for rent. Area to rinse or wash. Not much else during our visit. No place to get food or drinks on this beach.
Quiet beautiful beach. It looked a little rocky but, its the only beach where there was signage you could easily find!
Very clean beach!
Governors Beach is a little run down but cleaner than most others we visited. It was a week after a hurricane so everything on the island was in slight disrepair.
This place was amazing but dont go & try to swim on the side to climb up with waves & no shoes! PURE RUST
must visit !sandy beach and clear water
A beautiful island with some of the best beaches in the Caribbean especially Governors beach
Great vibez, great memories, great weather
Cool place to visit. Nice beach and picturesque location, perfect for photographers.
Fun, its right on the beach and lots of ppl dive off it and swim around it.
Its a very cool site, but looking at it is the only thing you can do.
Not much to see here. Just a ship wreck on the Beach.
Loved it! Outstanding view of the cruise terminal too. Water is very clear also. You can climb in it, but I dont recommend it because its super rusted, has sharp barnacles all over the place, and the metal is very thin. But the views are amazing!! :)
Excellent place to snorkel. The water is really clear, the beach is clean, and the water isnt too choppy. You wont see a huge variety of fish, but what you do see is really beautiful. They mostly hang out around the ship itself.
This was my second time going there. And i feel in love with it like it was my first time there.
