Medrosa d'Alfama - Tapas bar in Lisbon, Portugal
Best sangria ever. Great friendly service. Delicious tapas. We had the sardine, codfish and pasta.
Very unfriendly. Lady was constantly rolling her eyes as we were asking for availability as we were bigger group ( 6 adults and 2 babiesshe said we can not put tabels together and looked annoyed all the time. We decided not to eat there... dissapointed
Good tapas, very nice sangriaStaff is friendly9 out of 10, would go again!
The waitress there can barely look me in the eyes or respond to me, hence I’d never go in
Great food, great wine, great host.Would definitely recommend!
This was our last dinner in Portugal and it was probably my favorite meal we had. It was an incredibly small space but the food and service were amazing. It is small plates so we were able to try a lot they had to offer and it was all superb. I will definitely be back the next time I am in Lisbon.
Very friendly and awesome happy hour!
Went there many evenings for happy hour and a snack. So great and located in the middle of Alfama action where you can hear Fado each night from the restaurant below. Thanks especially to Nunu for his fabulous hospitality and service! See you next time!
Great selection of Porto and other wines. Lovely staff. Plus the ambiance was very authentic and romantic.
Very nice and friendly! Great food, good prices!
A brilliant little spot. On a small square which is great to watch the world go by. Brilliant service and drinks. Our fav pastel de nata in Lisbon. Highly recommended
Great place for some drinks and tapas
The waiter was lovely, he recommended how many dishes to get. We got some bruschettas and a salad. The atmosphere outside was great
We were with 8 guys and really enjoyed our night here! Nuno helped us really good and even treated us because of the celebration of Jacob finishing his bachelor’s degree! Jacob congratulations and Nuno thank you for the amazing night!
Best little bar in Alfama. Great food. Lovely staff. Reasonably priced drinks. Charming location. Highly recommend!
Loved the food, excellent service, lovely atmosphere.
Cute little place where we got some drinks. There was happy hour from 17:00 till 19:00
The sangria was fantastic. Wide menu with great tapas. Offer a happy hour as well with deals on drinks. We also got to listen to the fado signers from the restaurant next door.
Nice, nice very nice diner. Thanks
Delicious food, you can eat outside beneath orange tree, but also nice interior + good prices. I had the Tiberias Bacalhau com cebola e alho (bruchetta style toast with canned codfish, onions and garlicwith a small salad and "Tango" (beer with gooseberry syrup).
Good hearty food and service was great.
Great place in a cute little square. Excellent food, service, and sangria! Highly recommend.
Perfect little place to relax. We came here two nights in a row thats how good it was. We had the cheese board, chorrizo and lots of sangria. the restaurant accross has live music and we could enjoy it from where we were sitting in more private setting. The staff was pleasant buy thats everywhere in Portugal. Never felt more valued as customer than here in Portugal.
Very nice place, with tasty toasts and excellent sangria. From the tables outside you can listen to Fado played in the restaurant on the same square.
This was such a nice experience. Very good atmosphere on the terrace. The white wine was great (they have a happy hour from 5pm). They have lots of toasts and sandwiches, we shared the toast with goat sandwich and sausage and it was delicious. Also very good bread. Fast service. You can pay with card. We even heard live fado concert from the bar below.
Very tasty, the sandwich with ham, honey and nuts was great. Grilled chorizo is also very tasty. Really good prices for the quality!
Very lovely owner. He gives lots of explanation and was really friendly. Would highly recommend going here if you want to enjoy nice tapas in Lissabon.
Very good food, tasty traditional portuguese bruschettas.Nice small town feeling when sitting in the street. Also quite smart to serve sangria in beer glasses ;)
Hidden gem in the winding streets of Alfama, under an orange tree with fantastic wines and snacks. The host as well as the music make for an ultimate experience of the true, honest and chilled night in Lisbon. We highly recommend this place. Little plus: check out the sortiments for canned fish and pottery!
Awesome find in the alleys of Lisbon. Not a big place, but it’s cozy to sit in one of their tables, have some sardines/fish and a glass of wine. Service was very nice and friendly.
great place for drinks, small, cozy, beautiful, and really affordable!
It is a nice cosy cafe in a bustling Alfama neighborhood with good terrace seating. I liked the sangria which was quite reasonably priced -330ml@3€, 500ml@4€. The sangria also has a tinge of soda which is quite unique and adds a refreshing change to the traditional sangria.
very nice sandwiches / hot dogs.. also pitcher sangria is very nice, and reasonably priced at 4€, while craft beer also priced around 4€
Amazing place for some sangria or just a beer to refresh from the summer. They also have amazing portuguese bruschetta, chouriço and salads. I recommend the salad with bacalhau and chickpea.
Delicious food, delicious sangria, beautiful area! Highly recommend! It really does taste as good as it looks! (pictured: Tábua Lusitana - Flame-roasted chorizo and serra cheese platter)
great tapas bar, and by far the best sangria. very chill and friendly owner(?)
Good wine, a craft beer, amazing Portuguese cheeses, ham and smoked sausage. Charming, friendly and delicious. Definitely come here.
Perfect stop for an early evening beer break down the hill from the castle. Just a few tables inside but also seating outside where you can enjoy your craft beer or giant glasses of wine while listening to fado from the neighboring restaurants. Lively area with a mix of tourists and locals. English spoken, and friendly service. Didn’t try the food.
This little restaurant is right next to a bigger one that seems more likely of a place to go eat. But don’t go to the big one go to this little family run restaurant serving a super tasty fire grilled chorizo and thirst quenching sangrias.
Excellent reception by the owners, friendly and informative. Although it was january the place was warm and the streets outside were a great place to overhear fado from the tight alleyways and small cafes all around... great sardines and beer. we stayed nearby so it was a local and perfect for reviving after a hard day of high culture... and my only complaint is that we didnt have time spend more time there!
I visited in February so may not be representative. The staff were nice, but the doors were wide open and it was chilly in the evening. I ordered a salad (bacalhauwhich was cold. It was certainly big but not very nice. The staff who served me didn’t speak Portuguese (or very littlewhich, as a non native Portuguese speaker myself, found a bit disappointing - wanted to practice but it also loses authenticity - this wasn’t the first place in Lisbon where I noted this though, seems to be a trend now...Overall I wouldn’t go back because I was disappointed with the food - but some of the other food looked nice, so it was likely bad luck
Lovely place in Alfama!Great service and really nice tapas for a small price. If you love cheese, try the goat/sheep cheese. And of course: SANGRIA!!
Good spot if you want to enjoy some of the Fado songs from the neighbours. The spot is in the middle of the old center and has some local beers and bites on the menu. In the late afternoon we had some flies visiting us...
I really enjoyed the Algarvia salad, which was simple and very mediterranean (almost like a Greek Salad but without the feta and peppers). The Chouriço Assado was very enjoyable and mildly charred by the flame, but beware that its quite salty, like most cured meats will be. The Tosta Medrosa, which is toasted bread with goat cheese and chouriço, was very good. I dont particularly like their brand of Guarana (they use Guarana Brasil, whereas I prefer Guarana Antarctica), however, they do make some tasty drinks with gooseberry syrup (I recommend you try the Groselha). One surprise on the menu was that this restaurant has an impressive craft beer selection, so if youre into craft beer, this is the place for you!The service was quite good when I went, and the prices are reasonable. I would definitely come back.
We went here after Sao raffael to improve bad taste left in our mouths and we succeeded. Sangria is wonderful, food also and the staff is very friendly... Thumbs up.
Excellent food and service with the perfect location in the heart of Alfama. The pickle steak dish and Portuguese salad were both delicious and unique!
This is a great little tapas and sandwich shop in Alfama. We have stopped in for wine and bites three or four times while staying in Alfama and this is definitely one of the best places to eat or just relax with a glass of wine midday. With the arrival of the cruise ships the quality of food has suffered in many places. This is one place that is still worth visiting.
Tourist trap. Right after seated the waiter brings you some fingergood and asks if it was you who ordered it. Before even looking at the menu. They did it to us and we saw him doing the same trick to other tables. Food is pricy and average. I ordered a stew of seafood and was quite sick for a day afterwards. Look around a bit more you find nicer places.
Quick and helpful service at peak evening time.Good Tapas food, Grilled octopus was really nice, 3 dishes with a bottle of wine and bread was very reasonably priced and suitably filling for 2 people sharing.
The food is pretty good - a bit overpriced compared to other places within a ten minute walk, but good. Just be careful -- they thrust things on your table that you may think come with the meal, like plates of ham / cheese / chorizo / bottled water, but you will find additional charges of €6 or so for each item on your bill at the end of the night. So if they do this and you dont want it, give them a firm NO before they put it down and leave you with it. They had fado singers throughout the evening / night. They have a nice large outdoor seating area which is very inviting, and which adds a bit of levity to the emotional quality of fado. All in all a good place, just be ready to both pay a bit more but also protect yourself from extra charges. Know this and nip this in the bud, and you will have have a very pleasant evening here.
