High-end, Modern French food with global influences, served in an understated dining room.
Came here for my girlfriends birthday. Delicious, interesting menu (crab raviolo and tuna starters were a highlight), warm and attentive service where they really made an effort, and a nice buzzy ambience. Thoroughly recommend!

Everything was Excellent. Wine and food top quality. Nice location and nice people
We went for a friends 40th birthday, the staff were faultless, the food was exceptional, I will definitely be returning soon.
Such a lovely restaurant! Everything was delicious will def come back!
Great food, one of my favourite places to eat because you get great quality at a reasonable price. Perfect place for a nice meal/celebration. Please dont change!
Upscale, modern European food. Corkage only £10 at lunch, which is an absolute bargain. The set menu is £50 for 3 courses, which is more than worth it.
Having been a regular visitor to Medlar for a while I recently had my wedding reception in the private dining room upstairs. Words cannot describe how good this restaurant is - the food has always been fantastic and incredibly consistent. I have never been bored of the menu which has a good mix of the stalwarts like the crab raviolo and underblade combined with changing seasonal accompaniments. The food on the day was perfect - precise, interesting and incredibly generous portions. The service here is incomparable, the team are fantastic - hugely attentive, welcoming and charming but also relaxed and you really feel as if they just want you to have the best time which we did - it was the best day of our lives and the meal was the main part of that. You cannot have a bad meal here and I dare you to try. The only downside is that it will ruin other restaurants and the whole process of eating out for you - everywhere else will fall short on the food, service, ambience…..the list goes on…..and will cost several times what the most gluttonous meal at Medlar will. My only hope is that they remain open for business!
It’s gone from being an ambitious young startup restaurant, cooking high end food, to being the standard every food and drink venue in London should aspire to.The food, the wine, the service, the ambience, the prices, the setting. Is it my favourite food in London, possibly no. Is it my favourite restaurant, possibly yes.
Not a place to bring your lactose intolerant friends, yet they will be missing out on a tour de force of marvellous cooking. The sommelier, Mark, is an absolute champion. BYO and let him match the food and even judge your guests selections if you dare! A bastion of Chelsea and I hope for a long time to come.
One of the most amazing meal I’ve had in a while and by far the best during my trip to London. The food was just perfect: I have been dreaming of the crab ravioli and the rump of Belted Galloway for the following two nights. On top of that, the service made the difference. Melania, is not just a knowledgeable Sommelier, but also special and brilliant. She literally boosted the quality of the whole experience understanding how to make us happy.Honestly, I cannot wait to go back!
A truly incredible meal and experience. Should easily have a michellin star.Crab ravioli and trout tartare were both immense. Although dish of the day was the beef and chips with bernaise. I could swim in the jus the steak was coated in and just do backstroke all day.Asked for wine reccomendations and all the bottles than came out were top notch.Services impeccable too. Lovely Italian chap had a long chat with us at the end of meal. All in all excellent value for money for quality, taste and flavour.
Medlar is the place for when the London food lover is in the mood neither for gimmicks and jarring novelties on the one hand, nor for pomposity on the other, but just for a mature cuisine of simply good ingredients, cooked with confidence and immaculate technique. There are the classics Ive had several times (such as my favourite, the crab raviolobut last time I eschewed them and tried some dishes new to me, all wonderful, such as a perfectly grilled calfs liver, coming with a wealth of aptly chosen garnishes: new season garlic, Tropea onion, chard, potato galette, all suffused in a very light vinegary sharpness.Service last time was super-efficient and polite yet discreet and not over-eager to please. Prices at lunch are very reasonable: currently 45 for 3 courses (small supplement for cheeses instead of dessert), but be prepared to pay a substantial premium for dinner. Reasonably priced wine list too. Beside quality, to note a sense of generosity, in portions and other details.
Lovely atmosphere, impecable presentation and fantastic taste!
Medlar is truly superb and its standard of brilliant cuisine has never dipped since its opening in 2011. David and his team in front of house could not make one more welcome. The menu has its signature dishes; for starters the Crab Ravioli and Duck Egg tart are a must. For the mains they are all exceptional. Its great value and a hidden gem in the heart of Chelsea.
Went for a works meal, lovely, super friendly and attentive staff, decor superb and food to die for. Wine menu was fantastic. Spirit menu also. Its expensive but its worth it.
So I have never written a review after having a corporate dinner somewhere, as those ordinarily fall on the scale somewhere between mediocre and inedible (as was in fact the case night before at another dinner at Hornsley Towers). Medlar is an exception to that rule, a bright shining star on corporate/private dining room horizon! Beautiful cosy upstairs private room, fantastic service and wonderful food. We had 3 choices each for entree, main and dessert, and cheese as optional extra. I had wonderful crab raviolo, stunning plate of guinea fowl with purple artichokes, green beans etc; delightful coconut sorbet with mini madelines warm on the plate. Their double cooked hand-cut chips and bernaise sauce alone are worth a visit here! Downstairs is the normal restaurant, again cosy, stylish, facilities super clean. Definitely coming back here for lunch or dinner, with friends. What a gem!
Excellent food, beautifully presented and top notch service. Friendly yet professional. Well be back
We had a fantastic lunch here for our anniversary. Stunning food, great service, and very good value for the quality. Highly recommended!
One of my favourite restaurants in London.Lunch menu is outstanding value. Food is amazing quality and so delicious. Every time I come it delivers. So consistent. Service is impeccable.P.s you must get the chips and the chocolate tart
Wonderful birthday meal in this beautifully decorated restaurant. Staff were welcoming, attentive, friendly and really knowledgable on every element of the menu. The menu was creative and the flavours were all well balanced. Plus a wine menu that any connoisseur would savour. Highly recommended and we will be going back.
Top top quality restaurant. Food is French influenced. Service impeccable.Set price menu which is excellent, chose from 1,2 or 3 courses. Quality never comes cheap but this is expectional cooking at a incredibly reasonable price for what youre getting. Enjoy.
I was introduced to this amazing Restaurant by my dear friend Aaron Armah. All I can say it met my every expectation. Ambiance, esquisite setting impeccable staff. The food was define. What a memorable birthday great for private parties too 🎂
Absolutely enjoyed my experience in this restaurant.Service was superb and helpful.Would definitely recommend it .
Medlar feels (in a very good waylike a blast from the past of the early 2000s - white table clothes, immaculate staff, beautiful food and a wine list the size of telephone directory. Service is slick and helpful, the atmosphere is one of quiet elegance. We had a highly enjoyable birthday dinner here and will be back when next in Chelsea.
What a fabulous restaurant. Food, wine and service were all excellent. Dined there recently with a friend for a long overdue catch-up and appreciated the staff’s unobtrusive attentiveness. Food flavours and portion sizes were just right, and the crème brûlée capped off a beautiful meal. Would thoroughly recommend it.
Small, cozy, inconspicuous to the point I had never noticed it until some local friends took us there for dinner the other night. Tremendous meal, most unexpectedly. Expensive (£150 per couple with corkage), but worth it. Discovered… rather late than never.
Ive just had a fantsstic pre wedding meal with my siblings at Medlar. The food was delicious, elegantly presented without being overly pretentious. Also a very nice touch that they included some extra bites to mark the occasion. The staff were exceptional Friendly, attentive and knowledgeable on all elements of the menu. Ive been lucky to eat at many Michellen restaurants over the years and this is certainly at at one star level in my opinion.
Amazing place, one of my favourite restaurants in London and would always recommend this place. The wine list is comprehensive, the service was great and the staff were very attentive to our needs and friendly. We went here on Valentine’s Day and the place was decorated very well. The food tasted great and portions were very generous for a high end restaurant.I had the crab raviolo as a starter, wild sea bass with risotto Nero, clams and baby squid for my main and buttermilk pan na cotta for dessert and would recommend all of them.
Youd expect high standards visiting any restaurant on the Kings road, but this place really excelled in everything. The food was incredible, but the staff were very attentive and friendly throughout without being too serious, it was a very relaxed environment. They added in loads of extras for my evening with it being my anniversary which was greatly appreciated. Would recommend and come back in a heartbeat. Dont give this a miss.
Loved the food very generous portions. Great wine at sensible prices have booked again. Pleased to see busy on a Tuesday.Staff friendly and efficient.Give this a try
Amazing meal with attentive staff, relaxed and friendly. And with the private dining room, we was able to bring along our children and still get to have our fine dining experience which is very difficult to find as not many places will accept children being around when fine dining. Thank you so much for a great evening, we will be back again one day.
I thoroughly enjoyed my every dish that I have ordered and so did my family. Modern British food with such thoughtful preparation. Love the food especially the complimentary marshmallow and truffles.
Where do I start?A warm welcome on entry, the staff were so friendly. Our drinks were kept full without fuss. It was clear they always had an eye out to see if we needed anything without being intrusive..Then the food..I can honestly say I dont think I can remember a better meal. I had the ravioli starter and the pigeon main it was sooo good. The portions were just right but the flavours out of this world..This Will definitely be a regular for me when I come to London..Did I mention the complimentary truffles at the end.. oooooo yum 😋 😍
Very good food and friendly attentive service. For London and the quality and sophistication of the cuisine it was reasonably priced. Crab raviolo was very tasty with a well balanced bisque and the chicken and duck breast dishes perfectly cooked and seasoned with well chosen and executed vegetable accompaniments. The raspberry cheesecake excellent but a wee bit stingy on the lemon curd and cake elements. Extensive wine list. Overall highly recommended if your budget covers this type of dining.Note unless you are really very hungry you only need one side of excellent triple cooked fries between two 😉
I wish I can give 10 stars instead of 5, such an amazing hospitality, foods exceed the expectations and it definitely value of the money, they do fix price for three course meals.
Never had a bad dish here - always fantastic?
This is my favourite restaurant. It is as close to a perfect dining experience as you will find in London. The ambience is intimate and relaxed. The food, better than restaurants which charge a lot more and are far more well-known.You owe it to yourself to give Medlar a try.
Medlar is the most fabulous place. With only a weeks notice they hosted our wedding celebration. It was intimate, the food completely incredible and delicious but most importantly all the staff were exceptional. Your wedding day is always going to be stressful especially in covid times, but nothing was to big or small for the Medlar team. Every staff member bent over backwards to accommodate each member of our intimate party in the most kind and courageous way. Our glasses were always full and every tiny detail thought of. Everything was simply perfect, especially the food and we cannot thank you enough. Rosie & Josh
Very nice little restaurant in the heart of Chelsea. Prices are more than fair for the quality and the quantity of food you get: £55 for a high quality 3 course meal. Cocktails are a bit more pricey but worth a try. Great recommendation on the types of wine to pair to your dishes. Strongly recommend giving it a try. Also very safe in times of covid, with separators between each table.
Great food and nice service. Quail legs and pork belly are superb!
One of the best value for money French restaurants in London! Gorgeous and tasty plates of food and fantastic wine selection. Highly recommend the duck heart and egg starter and snails and portobello and steak.
I was told that if I want to compare food to a high standard then I need to set a high benchmark...and this is one of the highest without breaking the bank. The person who gave me this advice....I owe them a very large drink!
Elegant dining in a cute hidden gem in Chelsea. Really enjoyed my meal, quite rare for me to rate a restaurant as 5 stars..but this one earned it. Very unique flavours and everything was cooked to perfection.
Amazing food. One of us was a vegetarian and they provided amazing and very innovative alternatives with a "no problem" attitude. Fabulous service great vine list. Why this restaurant doesnt have a Micheline Is anyones guess!
A great restaurant in Chelsea. Great food at surprisingly competitive prices given the quality of the ingredients and the great combination of tastes on offer.Even the desserts are of high quality. The service doesn’t disappoint, not overly formal, friendly.Nice interior too so you spend a comfortable time in classy surroundings.Highly recommended.
The first thing that strikes me as impressive is the interior design. Its beautiful and relaxing. We went there for brunch and dinner. The food is absolutely delicious. Very refreshing and beautifully presented. Id highly recommended this place for special occasions like a small friend gathering or a date.
We thoroughly enjoyed the tasting menu at Medlar. Everything was delicious and the service was wonderful. Would definitely recommend!
Surprised negatively by the place. Portions are fair but the food is not amazing and thus over priced. Service sucks, I took a saint Emilio grand cru (14£ glass), he poured it in my glass as if it was water without making me taste it nor showed the bottle. Con-decent staff. Very noisy in the front (quieter in the bag). Won’t go back.
Medlar might be the most underrated restaurant Ive been to in recent times. I walked into this wonderfully relaxed restaurant in one of Londons most uptight neighbourhoods and did not expect to be completely blown away by the quality of the food, extensive wine list (and generous corkage policyand attentive staff - excellent value for money all round. Go in December when apples are finally deemed worthy enough for the best tarte tatin Ive ever had paired with a delicious creme fraiche ice cream.
