Variety of Mediterranean dishes in an old-world setting with deep-yellow walls & an outdoor patio.
We were excited to try this place because their menu looked good, especially their paella. The seafood in the paella was cooked perfectly, but the overall taste was a bit salty. Another good item on their menu was the patatas bravas and I would recommend.Compared to paella, the pasta we had was lacking in flavor. I would not recommend. But the biggest suprise we got was when we got the bill. There was an item on the bill for a surcharge fee. When we asked about this the waitress told us it was a credit card fee that they are now automatically adding. I have never heard of a restaurant doing this before, especially because our bill was more than enough to cover the fee. Just beware of this if you go to this restaurant.
Ann Arbors best restaurant! I say this as a lifelong resident, former menu consultant to several restaurant owners, restaurant worker, caterer, bartender, and lifelong foodie. The menu is always astonishing in its creativeness. And the chef delivers on the menu descriptions. In some ways, a lot of food is similar from restaurant to restaurant in downtown Ann arbor. But not at Mediterrano. A word about service - you immediately think of big city dining, where the staff is about service, pleasing you, and not a hint of the kind of self-congratulatory attitude often found in restaurants here. GO!! But please try not to make it hard for me to get a reservation.
Had the spaghetti w/meat sauce - heard it was phenomenal. It was served lukewarm and a bit sticky. Caesar salad was quite good. Felt like for the money, they couldve done better.
Being Mediterraneans we are impressed with the quality of the fettuccine and the gnocchi. The mushrooms in the fettuccine was delicious and the sauce was good with the spices. The gnocchi was a cooking perfection.Although we didn’t like the desserts, we have been eating less sugar for the last months and that might have effected our taste buds because we found it to be too sweet. But hey, if you like sugar you will love the chocolate mousse and the portokalopita. One thing I should mention, the restrooms was shining and ultra clean. The hostess and the waitress was very friendly. We loved the vibe of the restaurant.
Great wine by the glass and the food was excellent too. The tzatsiki and chicken were great.
Sat outside and enjoyed a beautiful Friday meal with my family. Started with the patatas brava and the cold pookila. Gnocchi and duck and rabbit entrees were excellent. Service was great.
My husband made a reservation for me at MedIterrano for our 8th year anniversary, delicious dinner, great service & ambiance.
Menu looked good before we went but food didnt taste that good. Pasta dish we ordered was greasy, not much flavor and paid $7 extra for the grilled shrimp that came overcooked, chewy and only 4 pieces. The portion size was good and our waitress was good with service.
This is one of my favorite restaurants. The clams appetizer is a delicious meal by itself. The arugula salad with candied pears, nuts and a slice of gorgonzola is outstanding in flavor and size; and the cauliflower gnocchi are an unparalleled delicacy. Roasted Brussels sprouts are the best I ever had, and the "Quesillo Flan" and the "Torta de Santiago" are delicious desserts.
Amazing meal from start to finish. Our server was absolutely amazing (cannot remember his name for the life of me& all of our food came out perfectly!!
Its our second time here, and the food and service are always great. We took the veggie paella and ate only half, its huge!
Great and unique food! We really enjoyed our whole meal. While this is on the pricey side of dining, you can tell that the quality of ingredients is very high. Everything was cooked beautifully and truly delicious
Food was good service was not. Beer went empty for 5 mins each time. Warm glasses water. Took server 7 mins to get us our checks after we asked then my card was on the table for 6 more mins. 1 hour and 20 mins from the time i walked in to left..
Attentive staff, perfect timing and everything we ate was delicious!
Wow, everything we ordered was delicious. Bold flavors and beautifully plated. Its easy to order too much because everything looks so good.I would recommend getting a few tapas style plates to share with the group, cant go wrong.
Loved the atmosphere and the food. The bacon-wrapped dates were amazing!
Giving it a one star only because we arrived at 8 PM after looking online that they close at 9 PM with no notice online that apparently they stop seating people after 7:45 PM - hostess said they stopped seating half an hour ago. Hostess was very rude about it all.
Their food is so good.
Amazing food and excellent customer service, which are the most important things I look for in a restaurant. I would definitely recommend to others.
Read a great review online and it was correct. A note to business travelers, the great chef likes to shut down the kitchen 8p to 8:30p week days. Why? Because hes a great chef and he can.
First the place is kinda around a building. But a Dimond is not easy to find. Food was over the top. The crispy Brussel sprouts is a must and the pair Arugula salid was outstanding. Service was a little slow but with coming out of a pandemic it was understandable.A++ and a re Vista if ever in the area again.
Absolutely amazing! My husband and I went for our anniversary. We had the halloumi starter and the half a rack of lamb both AMAZING+ The flavors were all incredible. Worth the price for sure!
The restaurant has a good vibe and upscale materials, but if you plan to get dinner for two, you will be spending north of 100 dollars. The ingredients used in the meals are upscale and fine; however, the portions to price ratios are nowhere near attainable or acceptable. Also, the service there was not the best. The server never brought us oil with our bread (all other tables had got oneand I never got the dressing I requested for my salad. All in all, it was not a good experience for the price. Sorry Mediterrano, I wont be coming back nor recommending to friends and colleagues.
Favorite menu in all of Ann Arbor. Quality food, bit eclectic, easy parking. Brussel sprout appetizer was so massive it became my meal!
Exceptional Restaurant. Dining and bar area very clean, bright and tastefully decorated. Bar selection from beer to wine to spirits is extensive. Lunch menu also quite extensive. Item that stood out was the burger, which ended up proving to be of high quality and exceptional taste. Coupled with an Italian beer made for an exquisite lunch. I will return to try the dinner menu. Highly recommend a visit.
First time here. Great experience. Wonderful selection of small plates. Bacon wrapped dates were a big hit. Highly recommend.
Wife brought me for my birthday and was pleasantly surprised. Great food great service and Anita our server was a shining star for sure. Bravo and cant wait to come back
Hadnt been there in more than 10 years, but it was better than I remembered. Everything looked clean, fresh & new. Food was great. Service was great.
Nice place. Kind of overpriced. Food was somewhat disappointing except BrusselSprouts and salad. Linguini was too oily. Gnocchi was good but again, greasy. Spanish Paella was overly salty that I couldn’t even eat it. Service was good overall. Won’t go back again as it did not live up to a gourmet restaurant experience.
We ordered the take-out meal during Restaurant Week and were thoroughly impressed by the quality and quantity of the food. The wait staff was helpful and hopefully we can take advantage of the actual restaurant since it looks very nice.
The med-hatten was excellent. Crispy brussel sprouts with toasted pistachios was wonderful. The seafood paella 🥘 was sadly dry and overcooked. The flavor was wonderful but it might have been in the broiler or under the heat lamp too long. The chocolate mousse was AAAAA-MAZING!!!! Topping has nuts so check first if you have a nut allergy but if not, get it! Fresh berries, layered in, it was heavenly. Even with the paella issue, I would go back and try something else as it was still worth it. Waiter was very friendly and did a great job with a mostly full restaurant!
Nice place with good service. Sat at the bar for an early dinner and the restaurant was mostly empty. The black bean soup was quite good. The olives were all over the place in terms of flavor and texture. Bread was hot and bite sized. Desert "Portokalopita" was also very tasty. Took the bartenders advice on it.Wines by the glass selection was adequate. The duck cassoulet was not good at all, frankly bad. I was very disappointed. The smoked duck was so over cooked it was hard and dry. It also was so over marinated that it had a very acidic flavor I couldnt place. The beans were alright, but I was expecting better from a higher end restaurant. Very thin sauce and not the thick baked feel of what I expected. Ive had duck cassoulet a few times in France and Belgium and I dont think this is even close.Probably call this place more of a French/Italian restaurant. Found out that small plates are anything but small too.I would say that it is not worth the price. Maybe the more popular dishes are better.
Had the half rack of lamb, which was prepared perfectly, however the dijon mustard in the crust (not mentioned in the descriptionreally took away from the experience overpowering a very nice cut of lamb. Had it been listed Id had asked to hold it. The basil/pea puree was a wonderful complement to the root veggies. Finished off with the tiramisu and an espresso. Great atmosphere, my only real disappointment was the unlisted dijon mustard on the lamb.
One of the best restaurant in A2. First time being here and ordered 3 dishes. All of them are better than I thought.
Cozy environment!Paig our bartender was wonderful…Food was delicious and my Blankton’s bourbon was on point..
Delicious generously sized appetizers and very tasty food. I would highly highly recommend.
Second Visit: this time the dining experience is actually much much much better. The food is delicious. The service this time is timely and attentive. Our waitress Emily is extremely nice! Recommend!First Visit:It was first time for us to visit, but the service was so bad that we do not plan to revisit. Our waitress was particularly rude. She only showed up one time at our table after the plates were served. Most of time we dined with empty water bottle on table. (And the paella was so salty that it was impossible to eat without water at tableThe WORST part was that she cleaned our plates and throw trash into our paella plate before ask whether we were finished (WHICH WE WEREN’T). And we even found trashed shrimp shell in our to-go box! How ridiculous..What else, she never showed up with our requested balsamic vinegar. She has really bad attitude when we asked her to refill our water and refill our bread basket.
Nice atmosphere - the wasps. The staff was kind and attentive and the food was scrumptious. Rarely say this, but Im coming back with the family
Something wasn’t quite right. The polite gentleman host, probably manager, stated my name and another hostess escorted me to my table. Reservations for two. When I looked online, the service stated zero tables until 6pm. Well, that wasn’t going to do, so I called the phone number, someone answered put me on hold ( not long at allthen 4pm was settled on. Beforehand, I visited the World Market, bought a few things and walked to the restaurant. I wasn’t even ten minutes late. The person seating me didn’t exactly throw my menus, but I did take a picture of how they were placed. Our waitress was timid and spoke with a very high pitched voice. There was no mistaking her enunciation through the mask. Yes, she was nice. She received almost a 15% tip and above 10%. Tipping is polite, essential and demonstrates kindness and class.Wherever I dine, I draw in the atmosphere as well as the greetings by the staff. I am comforted at witnessing diversity of ethnicity with the wait staff, not just the cooks in the kitchen. I’ll never forget my surprise a decade ago when I went to pick up my Chinese food and I could understand the cooks in the kitchen, they were speaking Spanish!!My Italian is not even Duolingo worthy but I can state, “Grazzi” one or two Z’s let me check. My Expresso -coffee , (double), wasn’t warm temperature wise.We ordered salads. Presentation of my watermelon salad was above average. The second salad, some lettuce with a piece of salmon thrown on looked very unappetizing and sadly, I was told the salmon wasn’t well seasoned and was probably dumped out of its frozen package and put in the microwave. Mind you, even if you’ve lived in Boston, traveled repeatedly to Sicily, you will find the rare restaurant with a Chef that knows that level of culinary experience. We accept that, but as you’ll see in the pictures, the salad was sad. Of course, my BMI is 30.?? %, so I went home and had a meal. There really wasn’t much to walk off but we went back to the World Market and bought chocolate. Yes, we had dessert 🍮 & no we didn’t enjoy it nor did I take a picture of it. No it wasn’t Terre-Miso, I think people order that just because of the name and I probably spelled it incorrectly. As we strolled out, there was one other family of color and the tables were fairly full on the outside. We only live once. We are grateful for everything and we are just as concerned about world events as the next person. You must continue to put positive vibes out there. Treating yourself and being treated is a good thing.
Went for lunch. The crispy brussels sprouts plate was good. We had chicken kebab plate which was disappointing- it was salty and oily, the tzatziki and egg plant were burried under the bread. The salmon plate was usual, but nice presentation. I felt it was a little bit overpriced. Also wanted to try their paella but it is not on the lunch menu, seems it is only served after 3..
Alright so got sent here to do work. Help add cameras and the place is awesome. All the staff is really nice, owner is super cool and ended up buying me and other tech I was with lunch. I got something called Panzenalla being adventurous and oh my god was it good. Got some chicken as an add on to dip in the sauce. The cook is super cool and funny and really knows what he is doing. The wait staff is super nice and really speedy. You wont be asking for refills. This place is amazing I live in Grand Blanc and will definitely be coming here in future for dates.
Awesome overall experience!! We had a lunch for our team of 18 and were a bit tight on time but with a little advance planning, the staff kept us right on schedule. Great communication with Olsi and Stavro ahead of time. Everyone was so gracious to help make our experience a good one as this was the first time visiting for most of our team. And the food.....AMAZING! Excellent appetizers, entrees made to order and fabulous desserts! We were seated on the beautiful covered patio. Cant say enough good things about this restaurant. Will definitely be back!
Excellent food! Started with the cold poikilia as an appetizer, our main courses were the chicken kebab and lamb chops, all absolutely amazing with a bottle of the Ramos Reserva red blend. Will definitely be back next time in Ann Arbor.
This is the first time I’ve ever reviewed a restaurant and I have to say I am so surprised. My husband and I were planning on going to Olive Garden, but they had a long wait so we thought we would try this place. Everything was absolutely delicious. We had the spinach pie, I had lamb, he had the lobster risotto. We were full after but we wanted to try the desert. Our waiter was great. I can say this is my new favorite restaurant. We will definitely be coming back.
Amazing food and excellent service. Abigail was excellent, very attentive and patient with our birthday group!!! She was eager and willing to take pics for us and bring forks for the cupcakes we brought!
I was only in town 1 night and wanted something different. This was a very nice surprise and the lamb was melt in your mouth tender. In fact everything was great and you simply cant go wrong enjoying a meal here. Its not cheap but i totally felt like i got my moneys worth.
We chose this place during an overnight stop thru Ann Arbor. It was the best decision we made because the food was amazing! We have traveled the world chasing the best paellas and Mediterranos seafood paella was one of our favorites. The grilled octopus with beans and red peppers just transported me to somewhere in the Mediterranean coast. It was a lovely evening and we dined outside on the patio with great service. Definitely a repeat the next time we are in town.
Perfection! Food, atmosphere and service were amazing! Shelby was by far the best server ever, making my husbands birthday extra special. She was helpful in menu suggestions, friendly and made our night out enjoyable! We will certainly return!
Its everything that Olive Garden is not, i.e. food actually cooked after you ordered it. Veggies in soups feel cut and cooked in the last 15 minutes, not out of a can. Good ambience and reasonable $$
Amazing food and staff. The rack of lamb and brick chicken are highly recommended. And the Creme brulee was fantastic.
