McMenamins Crystal Hotel in Portland
Description
I adore this hotel. The location is perfect and the staff are the best! We had an issue with the smell of our room and due to my allergies they quickly and happily set up another room for us. They also accommodated early check in which was so stellar of them. The themed rooms are cool too, and the shared bathroom was immaculate.
MoreRoom was clean. Staff was pleasant. It was a little more expensive than I wouldve liked. There was no TV but free wifi for my tablet. The biggest draw back was the bathroom situation. They were shared bathrooms. They were very clean, there were four of them on each floor and you dont have to use the bathroom at the same time as someone else. Its one toilet and one stand up shower but its just like a bathroom in a house. Made for one person at a time.
MoreThe service was good, there seemed to be more than a couple new staff, so there was some confusion on the order but nothing serious, and they were happy to take care of it. The food was good, and the place has a nice atmosphere, so definitely one I would visit again 😀
MoreLots of character, small rooms and shared bathrooms though. The location was pretty good lots of places to walk to. The staff was kind enough to help us find parking and the guy who was working the evening we arrived was really helpful. Now the not so great… in the morning we were getting ready to check out and I discovered a capsule just under the foot of the bed, the capsule contained a off white powered. This is concerning because clearly the cleaning was not the greatest that this was missed, secondly when I brought it to the attention of the front desk the guy did really seem to care. So all in all night shift guy was great, morning guy not so good, cleaning not great either. Kind of disappointing way to end the stay
MoreIt’s so quirky, clean, and the staff is absolutely amazing . They’re all so sweet and knowledgeable of the area. The quirky rooms are such a trippy little experience, and the pool is the best part of it. Warm, salty, relaxing. Definitely coming back next time I’m in Portland:)
MoreGreat location, awesome staff, cool pool in the basement. If you bring your car dont forget they dont have parking you will need to pay for a lot. But you shouldnt need your car it is right downtown and next to Powells book store.
MoreAbsolutely fun experience for a creative being like myself! We got the Werewolf room and the quote around the room though dizzying to follow is the greatest thing I have seen. The art in the room and halls (and I am sure the other rooms as wellgives me a through the looking glass feel. The bed is comfortable and clean and the staff/personell are helpful and friendly.
MoreComfortable and fun place to stay. Every room has a different rock and roll theme based on a song. Eclectic and quirky with a hot springs pool in the basement.
MoreRooms are super cool. Staff is very friendly. Very clean facilities and accommodations. Loved the big hot tub. Very affordable rates and great food options on the property. We will definitely be staying again!
MoreWhen we got to our room, there was a strong smell of cleaning chemicals. Were sensitive to stuff like that so asked if they could move us and they found us another room with no hassle, no questions. The new room was a little smaller but didnt face Burnside, so quiet and a nicer view. I felt like they really took care of us and were very gracious about doing so. It was refreshing to get such nice service and really made our stay fantastic. The staff were all friendly and eager to help. Really enjoyed our stay.
MoreDefinitely not earning a 5 star from me. It was one person but enough to absolutely repel me. A rude bartender with a bad attitude who helped 3 other people before even acknowledging me, brought me my check without asking if I wanted food with my glass of wine or asking if I needed anything else, then when I commented that I was offended I got no response. So I left no tip for my single glass of wine. Lo and behold, 3 days later when my card company processed the transaction. It was updated to include a 2 dollar tip. Thats entitlement beyond words and also credit card fraud. Lucky I didnt press charges. Wouldnt bother going here if I were you.
MoreThis place is all about attitude and convenience. Tiny rooms and shared bathrooms arent for everyone. But the rooms are clean, the bathrooms (single occupancy, not dorm style!are kept clean as well. Provided robes are comfortable and voluminous. Typical of McMenamins, everything is funky and stylish. Great place to stay if youre seeing a show just up the block at the Crystal Ballroom. Zeus Cafe in the lobby makes a great brunch.
