McKoy's Smokehouse and Saloon in Charlotte

Not what I thought. The only thing that was great were the chi Ken wings and local draft beers. I ordered the platter with various meats and its was just ok. Nothing to rave about.

The service at McCoys was good, the staff is friendly. I didnt enjoy the food mucch. The sautéed stringbeans were great. Could have ate a whole plate of that. We had potato salad that was good. Also had the pulled BBQ chicken-it lacked flavor. Found myself pouring more sauce from the dispenser on the chicken, something I dont usually do. The cornbread was just bad! Not likely to eat there again.

Some of the best wings Ive had in anywhere! Pulled chicken sandwich was great as well, wonderful BBQ place with a nice outdoor patio.

The ribs werent thay great, others had wings which looked and smelled amazing.Buffalo shrimp were good.

I got the barbalo wings double grilled and they were great. The fried pickles and sweet tea are also very good. Good staff, and cool decor.

Nothing bad to say about this place. A bar that serves really good food, nothing over the top but really good food. I had the pulled pork burrito which was really good but for me just too much burrito shell for the filling. Not saying you didnt go enough filling just too much burrito shell from my likings. Fried okra was spot on and really really good.A colleague of mine says he brings people there all the time as his offices down the road and no ones ever had a bad meal including him. If I forgot to mention the bar, its got a bar, so if youre hankering for a beer or a mixed drink theyve got you covered. Well rounded appetizer list that should keep you full but not so full you cant keep drinking a beer!

Good flavor and atmosphere, be careful ordering the large should be called lynch for tomorrow. Pleasant service, well worth the trip.

Theres a really big menu to choose from. The service is friendly and the food was great. If you like okra, their fried okra has an impressive crunch to it without feeling over breaded. The serving sizes are very big so you shouldnt leave hungry either.

Went here for lunch before we caught a flight back home. Great food and service. The owner came out and really put everything over the top. Highly recommend

The LTD Has Never Let Me Down. The Ribs Are Delicious, The Pulled Pork Is Spot On, The Roast Is Good, But That Damn Mac N Cheese Is Something Serious! One Other Thing, The Smoked Wings Are Outstanding!

First let me give credit to the waitress she was very attentive. But I think that this place gets a lot hyped up for nothing but a major let down. Yes the food came out fast and was smelling like some good ole barbecued recipes little to know that the taste was bland and not at all juicy more to say that it was tasting like it sat in a pit for so long and just heated when time to serve. The sides were overcook and undercooked. Long story short won’t be returning took too long to get get the pit smell off our hands. Thanks but no thanks.

First time here last night. Excellent service. The food was outstanding! Huge portions. My wife got the “Living the Dream” plate and let me tell you,, it’s a lot of food!! Wings were delish! Really nice place overall. I highly recommend this place! Can’t wait to go back.

Th service was terrible. The young blonde server just halfway greets and walked to a highball area table, dropped off the menu6and walked away. First, that is extremely uncomfortable seatwitha wobbly bar stool to boot and second, there were at least 5 open tables and easy seating available. Second, she acted both surprised and indifferent when I stated that we would NOT be sitting there. She casually pointed to a cramed in the corner 2 person booth and said ok, you can sit there. I promptly informed her that we would be sitting outside. She came out to take a drink order and when she returned, I needed 1 more minute to decide. She then stayed inside and left us to wonder if she would ever return. 🤔 I eventually went inside to find her chatting up a coworker and rolling dinnerware/tableware. I gave her our order on the spot and handed her the menus. Finally, our food came out and it was ok, but the meat/pork was cold in the sandwiches. Overall, the quality of the food was decent but that lack of customer service and total disregard for whether or not the customer is happy leads to a big fat failure in my book. I seriously doubt that they care, but I wont be returning and spending my hard earned money to be treated that way and get average bbq at best.

Amazing BBQ. We had the BBQ half chicken and the pulled pork platter both were fantastic. Mac n cheese, collard greens and fried squash sides were also amazing. Weve been to Edleys in Nashville and this place blows them away.

I am new to the area and was shopping nearby when I searched “best food near me.” McKoys was the first to pop up and I’m so glad we chose to eat here! 10/10 recommend. The owner Brian is AWESOME and made us feel right at home!! We felt very welcomed. The food is 😋😋🤌 delicious all the way down to the desserts. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants so far and will absolutely be coming back.

You have to try to cornbread! The platter was so much food that was great! Really sweet waitress from my home state. One my list to always stop when in town!

I have never had a bad meal at McKoy’s. This place feels like home every time. The first time we came here the owner was so welcoming and every time we just feel so lovely here. The food is unbeatable. It is the best BBQ in town and the service is top notch. Every single thing we have ordered is good.

Generous portions and friendly staff- I wolfed down that bbq sandwich before I could blink even though it was huge. The pulled chicken and sides were DELICIOUS too. If I ever find myself in the area again I will 100% eat here again.

Came from Texas. Owner came and chatted with us. Real nice guy! Food was good!!!!!Gave 4 stars because the waitress acted like she didnt want to work and wasnt very attentive!!!! For example, we asked her twice for to-gos and still didnt get any. My mom got up and got some. Overall an ok experience.

This place is lucky to get two stars but our waitress was super nice so her politeness and professionalism will double the number stars they get. In short, the food at this place was average at best but the worst part was they have Newsmax tuned in on some of their TVs. Seriously?!?! Nothing screams hate, bigotry and ignorance more than that propaganda. People certainly shouldn’t have to suffer through that garbage while they’re trying to eat. Our waitress said she agreed with us and said severals staff have quit because the owner keeps tuning in to that harmful baloney. Some guy did change channels, but he gave us a snarky look while doing it. If you’re an open-minded, progressive looking for good bbq in Charlotte, McKoy’s isn’t worth the heaping side of hate you’ll get with your food.

I was staying in Charlotte overnight when the hotel staff suggested I could have dinner at this restaurant within walking distance. Right away the bartender, Regina, greeted me and took my drink order. Very welcoming! I ordered the BBQ pulled pork sandwich and it was super tasty. I recently visited Kansas city and learned a lot about pork sandwiches! This was good! Btw the potato salad was also good. Definitely recommend!

Went for the first time and let me tell you, the ribs, chicken, beef stew, corn bread and fried okra are super delicious! Corn bread has real corn pieces, the bread is sweet with cheese, the okra is crunchy, the chicken is smoked and suburb! Will go back often!

Start customer service was fair a little on the impatient side The award winning rack of ribs they paid of the judges it taste like boil ribs so sauce just 🏜️ dry the pot roast look and taste like to they added expired Campbells tomatoe can soup into the meat no flavor and the e burger was no better I can use that as weapon of mass destruction Ask God for good flavor 🤞 oh yeah I debone my ribs trust it falling of the 🦴 bone

Service was excellent. Our server was great and attentive.The food was...mediocre at best. My friends burger patties looked like hockey pucks. Flavorless beans. Mac was alright. I dont think the potato skins even had salt? Also pretty clear by the content on the TV that thisbplace is run by some pretty nutty right-wingers.Definitely wont be coming back. I have no idea how this place has almost 5 stars.

Smoked pot roast with fried okra and turnip greens and cornbread. Trust me, order the small portion. Out of sight!

Stayed here three times and was wonderful served. Food is delicious and tasty. Little chilly inside, but well this is normal when you come in from nearly 100 F.Cosy atmosphere felt very fell all the time. Will return.

Awesome service and food! We got the loaded fries, the quesadilla, and the Diablo burger! All great! We sat at the bar and the bartender (unfortunately we didnt get his namewas super fun and attentive! All of the staff had great attitudes and worked well together. Great atmosphere and experience all around!

Visiting from Florida - food was beyond what I expected. It was a Saturday evening - we were seated fairly quickly. Waitress was very attentive , quick and extra gorgeous. Food was amazing!! We ordered the baby back ribs, Mac n cheese, tenders and fries, potato salad and collard greens….. which I thought would just be ok or good, but no- they was made like that old lady from church with the top secret recipe cooked it all!! The top seller - the smoked chicken wings - lawddd top notch!!! They taste like they were straight outta heaven…… I highly recommend this place!!!

Busy Restaurant! Food was Delicious. Birthday Celebration for our Friend in the month of April 2022. Fried Shrimp meal, LTD meal, wings, and Pork platter.

The food is absolutely delicious! This visit I tried the smoked chicken quesadilla and a side of Mac and cheese...I couldnt even finish it all 🤤 mouth watering.

Ill get right into the food the three of us had. Good Barbeque Pulled Chicken which came on a plain burger bun. Excellent Garlic Green Beans. The Cole Slaw was good. Good Pulled Pork plate with tasty Mac N Cheese, average fries. Pulled Chicken Plate went over well with my husband and he liked the sauce and loved the Potato Salad. Brownie Sunday, tasty. Quick service with friendly staff. Ample seating with larger booths for groups. Bar looked well stocked and the atmosphere is relaxing with people talking, laughing and having fun. TVs for those who enjoy sports. Nice decor. We would go back. Note: Check out photos. I normally do not include any hands in the photo, however, my son could not wait to try the brownie.

The food is AMAZING! They have incredible BBQ and their collards are some of the best around for miles! Definitely go see what all the hype is about… you won’t be disappointed!

David displayed great customer service, but the 1/2 chicken tasted like it was baked with smoke flavor added. It was good just didnt have the smoked flavor I was looking for. Fries were over cooked and the mushrooms were ok. I would go back and try the other sides.

Amazing place! Food was outstanding! Service was second to none! I am going to have to make this my new favorite place. The atmosphere was exceptional too! Cant say enough about this place. We got the LTD. Probably all the best items in one meal. It was large enough for my wife and I to eat and be full. The sides were so good too. Best ever BBQ place!

First time eating there and they had great customer service all of the staff was very friendly & helpful. The food was very good as well. I had the sample platter & he had the pull chicken platter w/mac n cheese & fried squash. Everything was hot & cooked very well the fried food had just the right amount of crunch. We most definitely will be back.

So this place is smoking!!! Delicious, hot, home cooked southern cooking! If you have not been here you are missing out... they even have a bar! The server was amazing, she was on point the entire time.. my husband and I even met the owner "J" ... we ordered the fried chicken so crispy fresh and hot, the nachos were great and their stuffed jumbo tots!! Sides were collard greens, Mac n cheese aka the crackoroni n cheese, garlic string beans and mashed potatoes! I had no idea they had been on food network but I definitely see why, we will be back with friends!

The food here was good but the bbq chicken won’t recommend it was dark n dry the fried chicken breast and Mac cheese was good and fries ,cheeseburger everything else except the bbq chicken , the patio was filthy n tables were run down the patio people was smoking out there were people eat not sanitary which sucked won’t return here again just because of that .... no respect ✊🏽

The atmosphere was great. The food was bomb. They have the best smoke wings Ive ever had in my life. The mac and cheese and collard greens were good as well. The customer service was great as well. I will definitely visit again.

We had a large group and service was amazing. Food omg is so good. Home cooked mac and cheese, fried okra and squash. Pork nachos were great. I had pulled pork as my "vittle" and I was so juicy and flavorful. I tried a friends wings and I will go back to order my own. Yes that good. And they offer double cooked for those that like more crunchy wings. Overall Id give this place a 10 out of 10. I will definitely recommend and return myself.

Came here based on the reviews. It was nice that they allowed dogs as we sat outside. We were the only ones that were on the patio, but that did not stop the server from being attentive.We ordered a little bit of everything on the menu. We tried the wings, the mac n cheese, cheese fries, grilled chicken sandwich, plain burger, and a pulled pork sandwich.Overall the wings were smokey and spicy hot. I enjoyed being able to taste the smoke flavor, but the sauce was a smidge to hot for my liking. The mac n cheese that everyone raves about was ok. I have had mac n cheese from all over and I did not find it to be anything that was out of this world. The pulled pork was okay as were the cheese fries. They do offer a selection for mushrooms as a side. I am a big mushroom fan so I gave it a shot. I definately needed this mixed in with food and just not a side. I would not order that again as a side, but hey that is just me. To me the overall part of the food was typical BBQ/Smokehouse food.I did not hate the restaurant at all, but I was not overly oh my gosh this is the most amazing BBQ food ever either. If I happen to be in the area and was looking for BBQ I would come here, but I wouldnt driveway out of my way for it.

Not the best. Tried the LTD after reading reviews. Wont do that again. Mixed drinks was a let down. Roast was super dry. Pulled pork not much better. Cornbread was ok. Squash looked great, but no seasoning what so ever. Ill stick to Jim and Nicks

The food is good.... freshly cooked so it might take some time before you start eating. Nice place to have family or friends get together. The atmosphere are for those who love to talk and vibe.
