I love this store. Except for a rude thing that happen when I bought a water heater the other day. I had one overnight.And my husband tore into the box. But we never plugged it in.Or even tried but we decided to get a larger water heater from the same place, so we tried to return it. Ace would not return it. They said the company who they bought it from would have to do it. After I called that company and then they talked to ace and told them to return it! But ace would not honor that request. And Im a long time customer. I was really shock.in no where in the store nor on the receipt did it say once u take a water heater home, u cant return it to us.

Ive been to a lot of Ace hardware stores the one on McKinleyville seems to have a lot of product in stock so far I been able to find everything that I need from plumbing to electrical to kitchen small appliances paint you name it friendly and helpful they even have a small nursery good place to go

Every employee at this ACE are super helpful. You can’t walk around the store for two minutes without being offered some friendly assistance; making your next trip to ACE a convenient breeze!

Have had a few special orders at McK store over the years. Won’t be giving them my business again - consistently don’t contact when order is in. Rude customer service. Used to walk me to location in store where something is. Now only give instructions which turn out to be for a similar product but not the one asked about. They require masks to be worn before entering the store and if you don’t comply you will be told to leave (not me but witnessed it). One of the employees is very rude and he seems to be the one or one of them in charge, young heavyset man. For sale items they don’t have an example pre-set up and they refuse to let you open a poorly labeled box to even look inside.

I came in after calling multiple times to confirm that a yeti product was in stock AND confirmed the sale price of $39.59…i spoke with an associate, Tia, TWICE to confirm the price and the correct item. When I arrived for some reason the item was now $199.99 and it was like i never called to confirm these things…after another associate called Tia it was determined that she was quoted the wrong price, I guess twice somehow, even tho i was calling to specifically confirm the cost of the item. This was a waste of time, a waste of gas and money, and very rude NO “customer service.”There are other ace stores you can support, they have the same products…

I have shopped at McKinleyville Ace Hardware for 20+ years. Their prices have generally been well above other hardware stores, but I continued shopping there because they are local. Today, as I entered the store, I was greeted by a sign that read, "due to government handouts, we are unable to find enough employees to staff our store." Give me a break. Your customer service has been quite poor all these years, so this lame political excuse is just that--lame. Offer a living wage and you will find enough willing, competent employees to staff your store properly. Not long ago, I asked for assistance in the plumbing department. The assistant that responded had no knowledge of plumbing beyond how to turn on a faucet. I could go on with your incompetence. You used to have a man in the paint department who knew what he was talking about. I have not found that to be the case in your other departments. Shame on the owners. I will not be back.

Laura and Kai super helpful in the paint department in deciphering a Cabot deck base tint when not listed in my account. Next day Kimberly did an excellent job of pulling up the formula.

Not very helpful unlike the last location. If you put the two local hardware stores together you might have one good one here.

Helfull hardware man! Nonsense, they are Not Helpful, sure they can guide you to your purchase! But try to get them to help you find color stain match....Forget it! They dont even let you open the can to try it on the wood sample you need to find a match for! Plus they hire rude workers who barge past you in the isles!Piersons in Eureka is also an Ace hardware.... Employees at PIERSONS are soooo helpful, I wish McKinleyville Ace could be like them!

I brought in a gallon of paint that the McKinleyville Ace had made for me 2 months ago. I needed three more of the same color. Since their colorants have changed, they told me they were unable to guarantee an exact match, but also if I allowed them to attempt it I would have to pay for the gallon whether or not it matched. Took them almost an hour to tell me this. This is completely ridiculous. Please hire some competent employees and teach them how to properly match paint. I have purchased a lot of paint from them, and I will have to buy my paint elsewhere.

Great store with great service. Ive been a customer of the "Mac Town Ace" since their doors first opened. A few years later their still my first choice...

Quick & efficient. I didnt know my way around the store, first timer. I asked for help ... he knew exactly where it was. Cashing out was quick also. Beautiful store front. Large store

Asked the lady to help me pick the right color for the walls. Even brought the sample I had to compare shades. She just told me I had e to choose from the wall. I dont know anything about paint. No help at all.

I would definitely change their screen shot if I were them, two sheriff vehicles parked on the street in front probably isnt that good for business LOL! 😂

The employees appear to be working hard they are always busy finding something to do other than greet a customer and make the customer have to chase them down for assistance but once you do catch an employee they will get you what you need or find a good substitute. They are all very knowledgeable and if they arent sure they verify and make you feel confident about your purchase.

Love this store but my boyfriend and I were harassed and followed around the store the entire time and we bought everything in our basket and always do. Very insulting.

Some helpful staff and also lots of idiots working + managing the place. I’d recommend Thomas home center Or mill yard any day over ace in McKinleyville.

They have just about everything I need, items are easy to find, and if I need assistance there is always a sales associate available to help out.

Management is really bad. Bought a quart of paint and talked with Linda (the HR personafter I was unhappy with the color. She didn’t seen coherent and was unable to help due to something mentally going on with her. This was before Covid so I don’t know what gives. I’d pass on this place until new management

Ive never had a bad experience. Employees I dealt with seem to know there stuff. Only complaint is that I live across the street and traffic has pickup quite a bit, I would expect that, they are a great hardware store.

This is a big store. Staff is very helpful in finding what you need. Good paint at fair price too.👍

Typically they answer questions and then read the product label, reversing what they initially said.The paint manager sold me 5 gal of deck stain, after applying it I found out it was siding stain, not deck stain.THEY SOLD ME THE WRONG PRODUCT AND WOULDNT STAND BEHIND THEIR MISTAKE.Eventually the fellow that sold me the siding stain confessed to making a mistake.There is a huge turnover of employees. From month to month most of the staff changes. This tells me that most of their staff is inexperienced and discontented.

Everything you could want for home and yard maintenance. Newer store, plenty of quick help by well-trained, knowledgable crew. Fun to simply walk the aisles just looking at stuff you didnt even know you needed!

The staff here are always helpful. My only concern is the signs I’ve seen through town saying to ban mckinleyville ace. I don’t know what the deal is with the signs, but I’d be giving Ace 5 stars if it weren’t for the signs. Just noticed the box trailer parked next to ace the other day driving by that had the sign on it. I’d thought it had gotten taken down when I stopped seeing the truck parked by the Highschool on Murray

Great store. Good selection of products and services. A little over priced on some things. Very helpful but not necessarily the most knowledgeable staff around.

I specifically went it to get a stew and a hex drive that would match. I was sent home with not a single screw or hex that fit. Their staff didnt know any more than I did. I wish the staff was better trained.

Had what we needed, but many associates working and none really seemed to know what they were doing. Also, everyone seemed like they were grumpy as hell, no one smiled or said thank you, or had anything pleasant about them whatsoever.

One of the bigger Ace Hardwares Ive been to, but I dont usually visit Ace. Isles well organized, good labels and prices easy to find. Lots of variety. Easy to find from road.

Great staff, everyone at least knows a little bit about everything in there, then they have department specialists for more in-depth questions. Nice, wide selection of stock and options for almost all home improvement projects. Exactly what I look for in a hardware store.

This place is Horrible!! The owner not only violently (deaththreatened the neighbors in the area but also he destroyed land on neighboring properties and refuses to fix it or take responsibility. He is truly an angry psychopath filling the community with fear and it baffles me that ace will allow such horrible management to run this place.

Richard helped me with a carpet cleaner rental. Excellent service etiquette. He explained everything about the machine and how to use it. I had no issues with it.Upon returning the equipment, I spoke to a gentleman who answered my questions about gun permits and the process of acquiring the paperwork. All while training a fellow employee. My apologies to him because I cant remember his name. I do feel bad about not remembering his name, because he was great at giving me the answers I needed.

I go here several times a week. Very friendly staff always ready to help find what Im looking for.That cane sugar soda selection is worth stopping in by itself.

I can no longer shop here since they moved to the new building. They crammed all their items too close together, the aisles are so close together I cannot walk down them, let alone use my power wheelchair. It WILL NOT. fit. So now I have to order as all my hardware items online.

This is a decent hardware store mostly knowledgeable staff. I was needing a 1/2 inch cap and one younger guy tried to sell me a 6.50$ brass cap and did not offer me the 1.75 $ galvanized cap like they did in eureka in Henderson center. They sell reflectix but not reflectix tape and everyone is not sure what you would use it for when you ask for the tape. They dont tint oil based paint but Thomass does. Ace hardware mckMcKinleyvi is much better than Thomass homecenhome but Thomass Simpsons ties are 30% cheaper idk why probably forgot to change price from the year 1999 till now. I like their nice cooking area at Ace hardware but,18.99$ for a canopener! I got one for 1.99$ at Walmart that works great Im no it a Walmart fan but when there is a place difrediffe like that I cant afford the 18.99$ canopener.

This store has really changed, it is nothing like it was a few years ago. There are only a few of the original employees left at this store that I feel comfortable around and that seem really knowledgeable about products. Also, they no longer have a lumber department like they had in their previous location.

Customer service is really good and that makes a difference. We buy a lot of supplies here for a small hotel we run so Im in there a lot. Marisa, a clerk was one helpful employee although there a few others but I dont recall their names.

The staff at Ace are incredibly helpful and friendly. I teach in McKinleyville and about a year ago was working on a garden project with my kiddos. I went to Ace to get gloves for the class and asked if the business would be able to help with the cost of the gloves as a charitable donation to the local school. An employee stepped up (I believe his name was Matthewand voluntarily purchased the entire set of gloves! It was nice to see that the store’s employees really cared about helping the community hey serve. I go there regularly and am never disappointed.

Rented mini skid steer at 900am came back at 430pm told the guy that came out machine was overheating I took a call and when I went to handle return an hour later. i told I believe manager that the machine was overheating and asked for discount or something. I was told I should have called and gave them a chance to fix or replace machine. This was a 24 hour rental. I told the guy I have rented machine before and it did the same thing and they didnt charge me. I was told since I didnt call it was my fault and was charged full price no anything and was told if i didnt like that i could talk to owner not very nice ACE wont go back again ever

NEW BULDING, staff are very helpful. This Ace rents lifts, and no longer features the lumber yard. They carry clothes for the season. Good selection.

Horrible!!!!!!!!! I have spent a ton of money over the last 15 years, and will NEVER again go there. I tried to return an item I bought in December, in the Christmas section, next to all the other Christmas lights. They refused and said it was a Halloween item. The lights never said anything about Halloween, and were identical to the same ones for Christmas. After standing in a long line, and told they wouldnt take it back, a floor manager (Ryanrudely said they wouldnt return it. It was still in the unopened box and only purchased a week earlier. I told him that I own a retail business in town, and would never let a customer leave upset over such a small issue. I said it was a poor managerial decision. He then told me to leave. I never raised my voice, used foul language, or said his name. I cannot for the life of me understand why they would throw away a long time customer over such an little issue. All I wanted was an exchange or refund on an unused item. This would have cost them nothing, but instead Ryan caused the business to loose dozens of future sales, hundreds of future dollars, and leave a customer telling everybody about the horrible service he received at ACE Mckinleyville. That was truly a HORRIBLE managerial decision.

I just wanted to leave a quick note regarding my experiences at Ace Hardware in McKinleyville, CA.I am Wild for the Floral department. These people bend over backwards to help you and always send out Beautiful arraignments. I have also called at 12:40 and they took my order and would have it delivered before 5:00. WOW you dont find that service anymore in our Country.I will not go anywhere else. Believe me, I Love to call and then relax knowing that my arraignment will make it there on time and look absolutely Beautiful.....Mollie ô¿ô
