Interactive exhibits for young kids focusing on space, culture & technology in colorful environs.
My son absolutely loved it. Going at least once a week
Great place for kids to run off some energy and learn at the same time. Awesome staff and gift shop.
Got there shortly after opening and not crowded. Within an hour 2 private Birthday groups came in and then lots of kids running around unattended. When someplace says a child must be accompanied by an adult, it does not mean that an adult doesnt have to have control of their children! Very disappointed in the lack of control of many children.
Great place for hours of fun!
GREAT place to takeout young grandchildren. Friendly staff. Wouldve given 5, but some of the activity stations were in disrepair.
An exceptionally wonderful museum for children. They love it!!! Well worth bringing your children/grandchildren therer!
I took my granddaughters to the museum before school started back up. They enjoyed doing each individual place and the pirate scavenger hunt.
My son may only be a year old but he enjoys it pretty well! Im sure hell enjoy it more when he gets bigger. Ashley who works the gift shop/ticket both is great! She remembered my son.
Visited today and there was an overload of kids and parents/adults. Kids as tall as I am (5’3”seemingly unaccompanied and running all over the place. Many of the play stations were inoperable: grocery store - not working, plumbing pipes would not connect; space area overrun by large kids wearing the backpacks weren’t watching who they were knocking down behind them; fishes have lost their magnetism for fishing; only one staff noticed in the total play area doing minimum pickup of out-of-place items. Very disappointing. Difficult to navigate with SO MANY folks.
I 100% recommend this place. There are so many different themed rooms and activities for kids of most ages, Id say probably 6 or 7 max. I have a 3 yo and a 4 yo and 3 hours wasnt nearly enough time for them to do everything. We had an absolute blast.
Love this place we go often, last visit it was real busy but they had plenty of staff putting things in place for the next kid to enjoy! The outside water feature could use some scrubbing to get the build up off and restore the colors but the kids dont seem to mind as they love and play with everything there. It would be nice to get member discounts at the Cafe, but its great that you dont have to leave and come back to have lunch.
Totally worth the membership! My 4 & 5 year old boys spend 3 hours playing each time we go, which is about 2 times a week. Staff is always so friendly and welcoming. They keep the place so clean and neat.
Great place to enjoy some creative and educational time with your family, the kids are very interactive and its easy to participate with them to help them have a full positive experience.
Clean, cared for, cute, not too big and not too small. Outdoor area offers water play, which is helpful on a hot day. Craft area was well organized (and crafts were cute). Onsite cafe was delicious, with housemade soups.
My grandchildren love coming here! They have a variety of things for your kids to do for all ages. Its clean and bright and just a wonderful place to take your kids, let them roam and interact with other kids as well.
Wide varirty of activities for all ages. Indoor and outdoor plus crafts. Could use more sitting areas for tired grandparents but plenty to keep kids busy for a couple of hours.
Great place to take your kiddos! We have a great time each time we go. Plus we love going to grab lunch at their indoor restaurant. Great food and great service.
We love McKenna! My kiddos have been coming here since they could walk and they love it! They have multiple areas for imaginative play, a house, hospital, grocery store, camp site, space ship, and many more! They have arts and crafts that change every week. They have an amazing outdoor water table that the kids love. Its a beautiful museum sure to entertain!
We have been loyal visitors to the McKenna since my oldest was almost two. It’s the perfect place for toddlers to explore and play. If you’re local I would definitely suggest investing in the membership. It’s busiest in the morning, but it’s never crazy packed unless there is a field trip. In the spring I suggest avoiding the 10-12 window because there are usually field trips at that time. The staff is amazing and it’s always clean!
What a fun place! Embarrassed I didnt know it existed. This is a wonderful hands, arms, legs and feet interactive space! Warning: not surprisingly, it was very loud and busy. But you know what youre getting into!
I waited to come here until my kid was 18m old because I wasnt sure there was something for him to enjoy but now I know even kids who are still crawling would enjoy their time here and now my kid is almost 2 he loves this place they do charge for adults which to me does not make sense really which is the only reason for the 4 star review (I get that they also need to make enough to stay open for the community but with the membership and how often we go, it has saved us a lot of money so if you plan on going frequently I would look into that. There definitely could be more things to do for younger kids (1-3 but he has fun just the same and the outside portion with the water is definitely a plus for us
Fantastic little hidden gem of a Childrens Mueseum! Obviously very kid friendly, & the staff is great! My son loves coming here frequently as he has been brought by my wife alot but today I got to come aswell and found a great place for kids much bigger than I thought. I will definitely bring the kids back more especially once my 10 month old becomes more mobile aswell! We are also going to look into a membership since we are coming so frequently.
Awesome time! Thanks for hosting us! Elm Grove Elementary, Buda, Tx
Wonderful place to take our granddaughter! Wonderful learning experience for little ones for sure. Only downfall is the obvious lack of attention of other parents with larger children running around unsupervised. People should be more attentive and teaching to their children rather than sitting in a corner playing on their phones, because one day they will look up and it will be too late to capture the memories they ignored.
It was our first time going to this childrens museum and I loved our experience. I have 2 girls (3 and 5). I also recently took my eldest to Doseum this week. I feel I have more likes for this establishment it is just the right amount of activities for my kids age group. I liked that they had coloring and art activities area. I saw several employees tidying up. Which yes we want our kids to do but sometimes with all the excitement they rush on to the next area. I also liked that they opened at 9 since my girls tend to be up early. So we had fun for about 3 hours and still had time to go to Landa and eat lunch in my favorite town.
Got the membership after our 1st visit. My 2yo loves it and they have a variety of activities the kids can get involved in. I love how it displays a miniature of our everyday activities. Toys are tailored for kids and with kids in mind. Ive seen a lot of hither parties there as well. Cool place
Its a wonderful place for children of most ages-- younger, definitely, but Ive seen older, junior high aged children having fun there, too. Its bright, hands on, friendly, and theres always something fun to do! Theres a large, indoor area-- sometimes with special exhibits like a life-size dinosaur exhibit that was stunning-- with a space walk area, art room, hospital and ambulance, grocery store, bank, dress up room, camping area.... So much more than I can describe! But, theres also a semi-covered outdoor area with a water table playground, building area, animals to climb on, a musical garden, and a play structure. My children love it, we have the annual passes, and we go, weekly.
Great for toddlers. There were so many activities for them to do. We only got to explore half the museum. I enjoy that it was all on one level making it easier for me to watch my two kids under 3. The outdoor area has a lot of water tables and a giant climbing structure. Clean and wonderful environment for the kids.
A wonderful place to spend the day, learning and having fun.
My elementary aged son always has a blast at the McKenna Children’s Museum. This is a great, safe place for the kiddos to play and learn. The staff is always friendly and helpful.
Haven’t been in years, but it’s better than ever… so much to do and see.. clean and kept organized even with all the children playing.. your admission price is for the whole day so you can come and go… great for a cold rainy day outing or any day!!!
Both my 6 yr old granddaughter and 1 yr old grandson loved it. So much to interact with. We will definitely be back!
Such a great, fun place! We spent almost 4 hours there yesterday with a 7 yo and 10 month old. There werent a whole lot of kids so they got to play wherever they wanted without having to wait. There were a lot of really cool things to do and mess with. Lots of space to get out the wiggles. They even had a baby spot to crawl around in without getting trampled by older kids. We still didnt do everything but it was wonderful and if we didnt live so far away wed come all the time.
We were visiting from out of town and needed a place to go while cousins were in school. This is a fantastic little museum for a great price! My five year old spent three hours happily playing and still wasnt ready to leave. It seemed clean and well maintained. Highly recommend!
Tons of fun for my 2-1/2 year old girl. Her favorite area was the "clinic". My 9 month old boy stayed in the stroller most of the time, except for 15 minutes in the 0-3 area, but I wasnt even expecting there to be that much for him. We spent about 3 hours here and loved it.
A wonderful place for small children to expand their imaginations. The staff has plenty of fun activities as well to keep up the fun. Certainly worth bringing your small children if you need an activity to participate in.
Great place to throw a party! Age appropriate for tong kids including toddlers. My grandson turned three and he enjoyed his time there. He was engaged and played inside and out. The setup is practical and inviting with its own own theme. I brought older children and they also had fun. Adults in the party were able to come alongside their children and play. Looking forward to coming back, thanks!
So much fun and such a great selection of things to do, both indoors and out! The walk through space is super cool!
Oh my goodness this place was amazing. I genuinely wish I had spent the money and gotten a yearly pass because my kids have asked to go again every single day! There was SO MUCH to do! And I was really impressed with the staff! Even tho most or their day consists of tidying up after kids everyone was kind and friendly and didnt mind answering questions from the kids. I grabbed a monthly calendar on the way out as well and they offer so many fun things to do! Definitely getting a pass next time we go
Perfect place for littles!!! While they welcome most ages I personally feel that age cap is 5.5 years old. Super adorable sections, my kids favorite is the beautiful galaxy walk through, definitely walk it through with your kid the first time its super dark inside. Theres so many activities from painting, self face painting, imagination stations where they pretend to work at a bank, grocery store, hospital or building a house! Theres also a small playscape inside and larger one outside! The coolest aquatic station outside allows kids to splash their hands, go fishing or shoot water from their small cannons. Theres also foam building blocks to have a blast putting those ideas into realities.
My granddaughters birthday was held here. Such a nice place to celebrate and play. Kids had a great time. Learning and playing!!
Best Playspace for Young Kids (10 and younger).Yeah, this place is fantastic. Its completely designed for imaginative and interactive play as each space is filled with stuff to touch and toys to play with. They have a bank, campsite, NASA, grocery store, and house section for kids to play. Outside there is a water space and large playground with climbing space. I was especially grateful for their toddler section which is perfectly designed for under 3 to play without getting run over by bigger kids. I also think their art section is great but come ready for messy play there.
Never too crowded and always a great time! Perfect for younger tots. Theres a central area for babies where you can sit and watch your older children run around.
My kids love this childrens museum. It is small enough that they can manage the stations in their own and I dont have to sorry about getting separated from them. It uses imaginative play and keeps them occupied the entire day. My oldest girl (9still really enjoys it too!
This place is amazing for young kids. We have had a membership at the Thinkery in Austin for two years but traffic and the sheer business of it stops us from going as often as we would like so we decided to try out McKenna Childrens museum to see if it would be worth the switch. We have a 1.5 & 3 year old and in my opinion this museum takes the Cake for that age range. It has a bigger area for toddlers under 3 than the Thinkery and everything here is definitely geared towards imaginative play which is perfect! For now until our kids are a bit older were making the switch to the McKenna Museum. My only con/warning would be their outdoor water area, the floor is way to slippery and they dont currently have enough slip safe mats out there. Hold your kids hands, even walking slowly my little one biffed it hard.
Omg! My daughters brain was so stimulated during this field trip! Even I had fun playing pretend with her! The space walk is the coolest room of them all (a little spooky for the kids since its pitch black)after the 1st walk thru I couldnt keep her out of there! I cant wait to go back with my other kids 👍👍
Clean, fun and great for the kids to burn some energy!! They have some great stuff. Art room and space area was so fun for the kids
For a good time and learning you need tp go to this place . They have just about anything a child or grown up for that matter may learn about ... banking , groceries, outer space, painting, crafts, and my favorite water area ... cost is just right , gift shop a little pricey but all in all very enjoyable.. im sure you will like it ......
So many things to do. Clean and tidy. Perfect size... Not to big (so its easy to keep track of kidsand not too small (so kids stay busy). My preschool age kids love it.
I travel from San Antonio to bring my 2 year old here all the time! Its such a fun place where toddlers can run around. Weekends can get very busy and sadly they are closed on Sundays. My favorite time to go is around 3pm Mon-Fri. That gives my son 2 hours of uninterrupted play because it is usually very empty. His favorite part is definitely the grocery story. In there he can push around a basket thats perfectly his size. They also have a spaceship, bank, hospital and outside you can find water tables. Make sure to stop by the painting room! You can put an apron on your little one and let them get messy. Also, make sure you bring a change of clothes! If your child is anything like mine they will get soaked playing with the water tables.
