Maya Mexican Restaurant - Mexican restaurant in Cebu City, Philippines
No guacamole which is sacrilege if youre eating mexican food. No sour cream. Refried beans are very bland. Steak for fajitas was rare and the seasoning was off.
My first visit to Maya last night, great atmosphere and very good service. A/c indoor and outdoor seating available. There was a live DJ playing music, with the volume set at a level low enough so as you could have a conversation with someone without having to shout.I tried the empanada which I thought was very good. After I finished my first beer, a Heineken, I ordered a second one but the waiter told me they dont have any more cold ones ready! I had to settle for a more expensive beer, a Corona. Maybe they need to organise the fridge/kitchen a bit better so as cold beer is ALWAYS ready for the customer! As other reviewers have noted, its a bit pricey, but in my opinion worth it. Fantastic decor, the restaurant has plenty of seating with a nice interior design and with very comfortable seating.
Wow havent been here for nearly 5 years and to be honest this is probably the best version Ive had at Maya! Awesome service, big serves and super tasty
BLUF: Expensive, wonderful ambiance, professional staff, uninspired bland food.PRO: wonderful ambiance, professional staffCON: Expensive, very small portions, uninspired food with little resemblance to anything Mexican.HINTS: Try “Puesto” (just around the cornerthe antithesis of this place: Inexpensive, basic outdoor seating, tasty food.Tacos (excluding fish and shrimpat “Puesto” are hands above better than the tiny bland, expensive ones served at “Maya Mexican Restaurant”.
This place is like a level up to Red Lizard, another Mexican streetfood brand under the Abaca Group. This place is cozy and more of the fine dining options. They serve great cocktails and quesadillas. This place had a varied size portions for their food. Some are meanth for sharing and three persons may not be ebough to finish if paired alongside other fares. Also, they appreciate reservations than walk ins and syarts to get crowded by 5:30 PM. Get their cocktails and tacos and just enjoy the night.
Best mexican restaurant in cebu city, great atmosphere and great team
Me: the Kalamansi juice was great!Them: what about the food?Me: the Kalamansi juice was great!
Good food, excellent staff and service. Enjoyed the cocktails, the DJ and the atmosphere. Well be going back there again.
Been here twice. The place is nice and the staff great. Most of their food tend to be on the spicy side of you are into that. Their burger was nice.
I am writing it in here once, and for all. Maya Mexican is the crown jewel of the Abaca Group. Among the restaurants we have dined under its umbrella, Maya Mexican definitely was, without a doubt able to leave us "the mark." We had the empanadas, soft tacos and enchiladas and all of them did not fail to scintillate our tastebuds. Weve also taken a liking with the bottled sauces which definitely gave the added kick to the dishes. We were hoping to purchase them in house but unfortunately they are not being sold anymore. I hope Mr. Hyatt and the management consider them for commercial production in the near future. I am not mistaken as well to order amaretto sour as our cocktail drink. We also commend the staff for being attentive to our needs and how they engagingly asked about our experience. I would complete this review by appreciating the ambiance of the restaurant which reminded me of the famed Disney film, Coco when it honored Día de los Muertos.
Cozy Modern Mexican ambiance with exceptional customer service by its attendants. Great dining experience.
Such a treasure this restaurant is for those craving authentic Mexican flavors and beverages. Consistently delicious with excellent service through the years. We keep finding our way back to Maya.
Always a good place to unwind.Have drinks with your friends. Their mojito is 👌
Great ambiance and food! Best Mexican cuisine Ive ever had so far. Although its a bit pricey but definitely worth it. Its good for couples who wanna have a dinner date.
Great interiors and good overall ambience. The drinks are just a bit too pricey for their actual tastes. Tequila sunrise was kinda watered down. The mango bacardi drink was pretty okay. I hope they improve the quality of these drinks.
This place was pretty classy for a Mexican restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious and the presentation was great. Staff was friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend anyone that is looking for Mexican food to try this place out.
The food and location is great. I really love the nacho.
Still the best Mexican restonin Cebu! As standard with any Abaca chain of restos, theyre consistent.
Mexican lovers will enjoy this place.Great service as well. 😊
The foods are fresh and great, smiling and accommodating staff.Highly recommended for the family.
This place has gone down hill. My friend ordered a drink twice, finally got it 20 minutes later. Super slow on the food service. It used to be an amazing place, now it’s a shadow of what it was. We’re an hour waiting on the food.
Very good food and decent drinks. I loved the atmosphere of the place too. I highly recommend.
Great to see Maya open again! Great Mexican style food! Super friendly staff!
The only good thing was the soda water… They charged for things even after we changed our order because they told us the meals weren’t available, service was really slow, drinks were bad, and food isn’t authentic Mexican. :(I was really excited to try but left very disappointed.
Very good Mexican restaurant with its own unique taste. We had the the carnitas tacos and the pork enchiladas, and they were both delicious, even though not like anything you get in the US. Service was good, atmosphere great.
Food is good but service is very slow. Waited for an hour for our food to arrive and its not even complete when we got them. The burrito on the photo was the one that they forgot and was served later.

I regularly come to this place. We enjoy their marvelous food while dancing the night away during Salsa Nights every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. This is the go-to place for a session of social dancing. They serve good food with generous portions that we usually share with friends. I have recommended this restaurant to many friends who also enjoyed the wonderful ambience and food choices. It is a terrific place to meet amazing people.
Excellent Cali/TexMex style restaurant with one of the biggest plates of nachos Ive ever seen. Everything we tried was great - the only reason for four stars is that the three taco set requires you get the same three tacos. Most places allow you to try three different fillings, so I found this a bit odd. But my brisket tacos were delicious!
Waiters and waitresses are very accomodating. Drinks, especially beverages are very cheap. For crafts beers they have mix. You can choose a not so strong, medium and very strong beer. The tacoo is very delicious but I wasnt able to take picture. I have been here twice already. I like their beer the most. Recommended.
Good food, not Mexican authentic but good for being in the Philippines. Really nice restrooms. Wish they had a spicier hot sauce.
Special on Wednesday.. good restaurant for group or either couple dinner would also wonderful.
authentic mexican food. big serving. nice interior and ambience.
A posh place to eat, dance and hang out to. Great mexican food, music and classy service. Only thing I didnt like about it is the parking space. The area caters 6-7 different establishments so imagine how hard it is to look for a spot.
Best Mexican in the Visayas. Terrific service, great ambience, lovely cocktails.
They have dance night where everyone can dance their heart out to rumba tunes.. Food is great, tadty and spicy...
Great spot to get a taste of Mexican food. Pretty good. The nachos are excellent and there is a nice, fully stocked bar. Can order mango shakes, piña coladas, calamansi juice. Burritos are available smothered or normal. There are enchiladas and empanadas, etc. If you have enough of an appetite, try the nachos before having your dish.
The food is very very close to Méxicos own southern style (Mexico City area). Their salsas and Guac do need some on-the-spot modification when served to make it taste just like it does in my homeland. Just add 5 pinches of salt and half of a yellow lemon and youre good to go. Enchiladas were just ok. Originally they are baked but these are not. Still very decent though. The taco set (3on corn tortilla were served as it is in Mexico City. The flavor is just barely off. These types of tacos are served with green salsa in México though they serve with red salsa here at Maya. Not sure if they have green salsa at all, Ill have to check my next time Im there cause I will definitly go back to try more of their Menu. My parents pride themselves on Mariscos owning three restaurants in the U.S. (Mexican style seafoodso I will definitly try their cocktail. What really made me rate this four stars is their great service. More to come as try their Menu.
Really quite good Mexican food for the Philippines. The enchiladas were good but a bit dry. The tacos are probably the most authentic thing here, but a bit small. Like if you get an order of 3 you wont be quite full. Mojitos are okay, nothing special. Chips are rather boring and dont seem to be homemade. The salsa tastes like it came from a jar. Would not order the chips and salsa again. They were out of guacamole on both my visits despite it being avocado season. The quesadilla was good but had way too much cheese. It needed some pico de gallo in there.Update: on my third visit, they finally had guacamole available. Pretty good. Could’ve used some more citrus + heat. I also asked for less cheese in the quesadilla and got it.Go on Wednesday and Sunday nights for drink discounts and salsa dancing.
Love their craft beer and nacho. Must try the guacamole
Calm atmosphere to have huge servings of mexican food. You could also order alcohlic drinks (They display it to show that they serve those types of drinks.).The servers could be better. It does get really pricey though, so I dont recommend this place if youre looking for a cheap mexican meal. But then again the servings are huge.
As a group of five, we had ordered only 4 items. We were only sharing. They serve large portions. We had 2 burritos with 2 different fillings, nachos, and a taquitos platter. It was sufficient for our group of 5. Some of us also had their mojito. We had stopped eating, and the servers thought to just take our plates away without asking which was very rude.Expensive Mexican fare. If youre on a budget, I suggest Red Lizard instead. Its owned by the same company.
Delicious, savory, authentic Mexican food. Very nice staff and indoor. Good choice also for those who dont eat meat.
Ambiance and service is awesome. The food is good but nothing out of this world they are just well prepared. Place is quite expensive. I will come back but not often since I feel that I am paying too much for what I am getting.
Food was ok . Its nothing over the top just like a texmex restaurant. If you want to stay inside it’s very cold, we had to move outside as we thought it was too much. Not the best Long Island ice tea but good mojitos. I liked it the decoration
So delicious I cleaned my plate! Prices are pretty reasonable for what you get. Super comfortable seating and great service. They also had a great deal on buy one get one margaritas when I was there, but it was a Sunday so that probably isnt a normal special.
Cozy place, tasty food, very professional and friendly staff. Quick service and moderate prices. Me and my girlfriend had really good dinner here.
Personally I felt that the place was expensive for what it offered. The food was good, but I didnt feel it was value for the money.
Love their beverages and Mexican dishes. Tethers on the pricey range, but good ambience for company meetings.. :)
I really like their food and I love this place too , I have a great time in there
