Maximilien Restaurant in Seattle

This small restaurant overlooks the water and ferris wheel so it is scenic. The host seated us in the least desirable table even though we had a reservation and there were other tables and we asked for another. We asked the waiter a couple questions about the menu and he actually said he really couldnt help us. Well I help future guests... the tomahawk pork chop was wonderful the skin on salmon was not good. I wouldnt return there given the lack of attentive service and the mediocre salmon. Plus the location is not easy to find.

Absolutely a horrible experience. I ordered the mussels and they had no taste other then sea. The server forgot about us I had to ask a random worker for more water. At one point as we were waiting for our server to order dessert the maitre d came over and started rudely reaching across to take our napkins and silverware. One of our beers were on top of the napkin and he tugged trying to take the napkin without saying one single word I had to quickly take the beer out of the way.

Not enough good things can be said about this Seattle institution. The view. The cuisine. The excellent service. The Pike Place location. Hidden yet in the middle of it all.

Sitting outside getting to watch the sun go down while we had amazing food was a great experience.

This is an excellent upscale French Restaurant. You have your choice of being seated on a cozy outdoor patio with ocean views, or being seated in the lovely dining room with a relaxing and romantic atmosphere. The scallops are tender, juicy and well seasoned and they are served with flavorful green beans and a variety of fresh picked mushrooms. The bread is imported from France. This is truly a wonderful experience that I highly recommend.

Super Clean and wonderful ambience..When we first saw the sign for the restaurant, I wasnt really sure about it..the entrance looks a bit shabby..but once we got to our table, everything was perfect. We got a great table not right next to the windows but we still had a great view and we were out of the sun..our server was amazing..she was always around when we needed her and not when we didnt..I had the 1/2dozen oysters to start with and they were fresh and delicious. My wife had the halibut, beautiful presentation and yummy again. I had the scallops for lunch, again beautifully cooked..my vegetables were buttery but not greasy just perfect..To top it all off, we had the grand mariner souffle and OH My God..it takes 15 mins to make but worth every bite..this turned out to be one of the best lunches I had..and it was our first day vacationing in Seattle..it set the tone for a great day :)

Went here for a late lunch. The view is spectacular and setting is definitely warm and inviting. Our waiter was friendly and attentive in all the best ways. The food was delicious french faire and left us in a food induced flow for hours. I will definitely be coming back over and over again.

We asked to be seated for drinks and the host pointed out the bar, then we asked to be seated outside. We were put at a back table with limited view. We asked the server to be moved to a closer table to the view and were told there was a reservation. We ordered drinks and food, which was confusing to the server as he assumed we were having only a drink. Next time I will tell the host we are having food, maybe will receive better seating? However there will not be a next time! I visit Seattle regularly, Maximilian not on my list to visit again..

The bartender was fine and creative.The service was less than attentive. The food was mediocre. The pate did not come with bread, which is strange in a French restaurant. The onion soup was good. The seafood platter was horrible: the oysters were poorly shucked, the shrimps were tasteless as well as the lobster claws that were also very dry. We had our eyes on the dessert, profiteroles, but at this point, we called it a night and left. It is not a place that I would recommend if you are looking for decent food.

Just amazing food, had tomahawk pork chop and alaskan halibut. Also, amazing view of Elliot Bay! Really a nice place to dine, have a cocktail and enjoy the sunset.

Amazing restaurant that over looks the water. Started with some bread then pepper and tomato bisque. After that was (picturedan amazing salmon dish. And for dessert I had the cream puffs with vanilla ice cream. Amazing experience highly recommend.

My favorite French restaurant in Seattle. Kind of hard to find, but worth the search. I have been going here for many years, would go more, but the touristy location is a put off for locals. No doubt, this restaurant is a part of France but downtown Seattle. No fault, everything is excellent from the entrees to the desserts. Baguette is real French baguette, salt butter comes from Brittany (like the owners and the Chef). The pate is homemade (and delicious). The coquilles Saint Jacques and green beans are tasty and cooked perfectly. The duck leg is fantastic. All plates are well colored and presented and smell so good, nothing to add, nothing to remove. The crème brûlée and the chocolate cake are heavenly. Large choice of good wines (not only French). Great food served by excellent and friendly staff. Our best experience in Seattle so far. Maximilien would deserve a 6th star.

The first time I visited Pike Place I completely overlooked Maximilien. It is tucked away on the south side of the market behind Pike Place Fish Market where the crowd gathers. Do yourself the favor and wade through the crowd if youre in the mood for French cuisine.Admittedly, we stopped here for a cocktail with a view but when I saw the menu we ended up ordering the foie gras and baguette with beurre. I was classically trained in French kitchens and the menu was classic without adhering to strict traditions for the sake of tradition.The baguette was crisp on the outside and tender inside with excellent crumb; tasted like it was either made in house or by a local bakery. The butter was reminiscent of cheese. Letting it stand at room temperature wouldve made the flavor stand out more (my only critiquebut food safety is important I suppose.Ive had maybe 2-3 dishes in my life that took me to another world. Add their foie gras to the list. I was in heaven for the 15 minutes I slowly ate it. It was expertly seared with a caramelized exterior and a warm, melt in your mouth interior. Few things in this world can compare to foie gras prepared in this fashion. This level of execution is uncommon and speaks volumes to the rest of their menu.This may sound like a review of one dish -- and maybe I am judging this restaurant by their foie gras. But Ive had enough French food in my time to know when a place is worth eating at. Maximiliens food is as fantastic as their view. Ill surely be back next time Im in Seattle to indulge some more and update my review.

I really wanted to like this place. I love French food and was excited by the idea of finding a new place to go. I was very underwhelmed by my experience here. I gave them 4 stars because I feel it’s a decent place to see the view and I would go back for a drink on the patio or inside the dining room. The dining room may have a better view because the patio’s view was somewhat obstructed by the short wall. Also, I was there around 3 :30 and the menu was limited so maybe the dinner menu is better. Otherwise, the service was average at best. I felt like my server was phoning it in with flake smiles and lack luster conversation. I was by myself so maybe they thought I would not spend a lot. I ended up spending $88 for this meal and I don’t feel like it was worth the price. To begin, I had the escargot appetizer and it was just ok. Also, they charge you for the bread. I did really like the bread and butter. The bread tasted pretty fresh and the butter had a nice salty flavor. I also ordered the steak frites and a glass of wine. The steak came loaded with sauce and got on the fries and salad too. The flat iron steak was cooked ok but didn’t have any flavor even though it was covered In sauce. I ordered a glass of wine to see if I could make it taste better but it didn’t help. I ordered the Rhône wine which was just ok. No complexity at all. The fries were bland, tasted like oil and were on the soggy side. They included a salad but there really was no point to it. It was just lettuce with basically no flavor; it just took up space and offered no value. The only upside to this experience was it was a nice sunny day on the patio.

We had an absolutely lovely time for our wedding anniversary! During our reservation we noted that it was our anniversary and we were pleased to be greeted with two glasses of complimentary champagne. The food was cooked elegantly and the presentation was sublime. Our server was friendly informative and an absolute delight. The view was unreal and the overall ambiance of the restaurant was exactly what we were looking for. We cannot believe we havent been here before and we will absolutely be back! From the friendly greeting of the host to the comfortable pace of the dinner to the satisfied exit, our entire experience was extremely memorable. Thank you so much everyone at Maximilian!!

Just had an outstanding meal on the outside patio. Great food, great service and a great view of the Seattle waterfront. Our waiter treated us to desserts which put our already memorable experience over the top.

Excellent food and wait staff. View over the water is great. Had the mussels and salad. Really very reasonably priced. Lots of mussels and well seasoned. Would make this a to go place in Seattle.

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here last week. Phenomenal experience - the food was excellent and the views of the harbor at sunset were incredible. Our waiter, Joe, was fantastic and even brought us complimentary champagne. Overall it was a wonderful experience and somewhere wed love to visit again.

The food here was wonderful!! And since I am French I know good food! The view was spectacular of the waterfront and the servers were very kind and polite!! 👌

Absolute gem of a place. 10/10 recommended! Treated us amazing for our 3rd anniversary. Also had the best view in the house on the patio right on the ledge looking over the water.

Onion soup: 4/10. Barely any cheese, flavor was dull.Pate : 1/10. It was nearly frozen. It doesnt come with anything to spread it on. When asked, they said, "people eat it like that"... like, they just cut into it with a fork? Okayyyy...Bread: 3/10 bread cold, butter cold, meh.Scallops: 8/10. Very good. Large, could have been browned maybe for another 20 sec. But really good. The green beans/mushroom mix was good, but really greasy.Filet/lobster tail: filet 10/10 cooked perfectly. Lobster 0/10. It looked like a shrimp... and so rubbery and over cooked.8oz diet coke was $5.Overall, youre paying for a seat looking at the water.Nothing extraordinary. Nothing.

Amazing place with great service and food! If the weather is good, eat outside! Order the oysters, you wont regret it!

Unbelievably amazing food and one of the best views from a seattle restaurant i have ever seen. The waiter was extremely attentive and made a very meaningful compliment which is the reason i am writing this review. The drinks are also next level good. Loved my time here

We just had a fabulous meal at Maximiliens. I think I had the best pork chop I have ever tasted. At least I know it was the biggest and the sauce on top was devine! The service was friendly and efficient and the view is unbeatable. The restaurant hangs over the top of Pike Place Market with a view of the waterfront and Elliott Bay. You wont be dissappointed!

Although it’s important to know that this isn’t for your ‘cheap date’, the food, environment and more makes Maximilien worth every penny. The salmon special I had was amazing and the dessert was also to die for. This is definitely a top stop in my book; I recommend it for anyone in Seattle or anyone visiting and looking for a great restaurant.

French place nestled in Pike Place Market in Seattle. Great menu, lives upto the French standards, lovely and absolutely gorgeous view, excellent service. They were very helpful with wine selection, making the food as requested and supportive of our requests. Loved it here. A bit crammed though, but that gives off the cosy vibes and has a super atmosphere

Well the food was flavorful, small portions and barely warm.The menu doesnt have alot to choose from.My husband has the steak it was REALLY RARE and there is no salt or pepper or condiments offered.The service was good, but the website says that although gratuity is automatically added. The restaurant kept all the tips. The wait staff got none. (To offer better wages)

Classic French Bistro menu executed to a high standard. We dined outdoors in a clear plastic popup igloo. Server was enthusiastic but had limited knowledge of wine.

Sat down for a late lunch about 2pm on a recent November Saturday. It has beautiful views of the water; just cant compete with the visual atmosphere. Loved the the restaurant inside also. Great wait staff. Limited food selection but enjoyed it. Onion super wonderful, flank steak tasty and cooked well but a bit tough. Worth it for the atmosphere in view. Officially, I give it 4.5 stars taking off a .5 star for inconvenient parking and a small food offering.

SUPER CUTE AND GREAT!! We loved it so much the 4 of us had soup sandwich and I had desert since I’m a grown up I can eat whatever whenever and I had the crème Brûlée which is to die for l!! The place is small but so cute the staff is cool as heck and we loved the food!!

My husband and I visited here on our sixth wedding anniversary and had such a wonderful time! The food was delicious, the views were lovely, and our waiter was so kind. Definitely a good place to come for a date night!

We picked this restaurant for a special date night mostly for the views and we got exactly what we expected. The food was delicious and the fresh ingredients were the main highlight. Service was good too. Nice wine selection.

- Outdoor ambience (8/10): the rooftop bar is not too big; the view is nice ONLY if you can sit near the wall, otherwise it will be hard to enjoy the view, you will be looking at other tables.They have outdoor patio heater that will keep you warm if is chilly and outdoor umbrella that cover you from the sun. The floor and the tables were clean and ready for us.Its a good place for a romantic date, nothing fancy, more cozy, friendly and chill vibes. Good for conversations and cocktails.-Food (8/10): well cook, good flavor. We ordered steak (very juicywith fries (crispy but not too fried). A little Expensive for what it was.-Costumer service (9/10): they were friendly and nice, they kept check on us very often but without being annoying. Wearing mask all the time.- Overall: 8.5

Fantastic French restaurant. The waitstaff were so friendly, respectful, AND knowledgeable about the food. We arrived a little early than our reservation and they made every possible effort to get us seated before our time came. My fiancé had the mussels which were amazing and I had the duck that was equally good. For a fancy night out. This is definitely the place to go!

Located on the main level of Pike Place Market in the narrow hallway north of the fish mongers and butchers, this intimate cafe offers terrace seating outside, as well as spectacular views from the indoor seating area. Full bar, excellent wine list, and menu covering a wide variety of French dishes. Service is fast and friendly. Everything was delicious.

Wonderful ambiance and incredible food. I havent been out for fine dining in a while (like most people these days), so this was quite the treat. The escargot, foie gras, and duck (conard a lorangewere just delectable. My cocktail of choice was the French martini, which was perfect. Although it was my first time dining here, it sure wont be my last!

Dome dining in a little bubble, drinking pink bubbles with a view! Fixed menu of salad, mussels and frittes. Optional desserts were both gluten free, yay! One was a dense chocolate cake with a little coconut and the other a creme brulee. Our waiter was friendly and our group couldnt have been happier that we got to dine together during the indoor dining ban. Thanks for adapting!

We were worried this would be a tourist trap because of the Pike Market location. We were pleasantly surprised it wasn’t! Such good French inspired food and fresh ingredients. It was a beautiful view of the sound and the tables were safely distanced. I will definitely recommend to my friends. We had the oysters - go for it, they are fresh and delicious!

Decided on this restaurant after walking a fair bit and Im pleased to say it was more than worth it. For the record this is an actual French restaurant in Seattle, that is to say the proprietors seem French. I dont usually like choice and ended up going with their burger. It was one of the best burgers Ive had in my life, prepared to my taste but succulent and flavor full and the right size, not too big and not too small. The bun had sesame seeds and poppy seeds, two of my favorite! The space is small and quaint and even though it was busy we were well attended to. The view from the bottom deck was a treat since the sky cleared and the sun came out. I dont often have a full and enthusiastic 5 star recommendation but in this case I do! Well worth a visit!

My girlfriend and I visited on a cozy Sunday. We arrived at around 1:30 and there’s no line, the service is very friendly and warm. The view of the restaurant is fantastic and the vibe inside is quite romantic, thus we had a wonderful time dining here.We ordered onion soup, “chicken fried” pork steak, and salmon egg benedict. All taste delicious and would definitely visit again!

Perfectly located in Pike Place Market with a magnificent view of the Puget Sound worth the visit on its own, this restaurant offers traditional French fares.The setting has an old school feel, which adds to the charm of the experience on top of all the vintage French decorations.The staff is friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about their menu: food and wine.As for the food itself, it was well-made and corresponded to the French dish mentioned but, even though very enjoyable, you would expect a higher quality for the products especially considering the higher prices.Overall, a very good experience definitely worth checking out especially for the outside view.

A Great view and classically French food. I had the roasted duck and a flat iron steak. The flavors were great. The wait staff was very professional and everybody seemed to have a thick french accent which of course adds to the overall experience.

Advertised as good view, feel like tourist place but fortunately the food is fantastic! We all agree and said yummy ! Service was good and definitely will come back.
