This well-known, 16th-century fountain features a statue of Maximilian II as a knight in armor.
Beautiful
Oldest standing fountain in the city, it was ordered by Maximilian II, around the area you can find shops and restaurant, embassies and government buildings. Also there are some funny statues too take good photos.
Amazing Maximilian fountain in the center of old town.
Too bad it is not lighted at night.
A historical fountain in the true center of the city.
One of the most beautiful European town square I have ever seenI as told its the biggest pedestrian area in EuropeLooks like its out of a story bookAnd the people are extremely helpful and friendly
This one is on the Budapest castle you have to walk cross the bridge and walk up to this area then youll see all the city views.
That is amazing to visit. It is connected with tram so it is easy to get.
The Maximilians Fountain, also known as Roland Fountain, is a fountain in the centre of the in the Main Square, in Bratislava Old Town. It’s a medium sized fountain with a sculpture of Maximilian II, King of Hungary depicted as a knight and wearing medieval armour. The sculpture stands atop a column in the centre of the fountain and on the column are four sculptures of youthful boys spewing out water from their you know what. The fountain is considered a landmark of the city, but I thought it was a fairly nondescript fountain. Apart from the aforementioned boys and location, the fountain is pretty average.
Extraordinary place to visit, astonished by its beauty and old vibes.
Great meeting place for the tip based tours,
Nice place to visit. Have alot of restaurants and bar nearby. Must walk around old town. Old is the most beautiful area in Bratislava.
Whilst not the most awe inspiring fountain youll ever see, its well kept and an important part of Bratislava. If youre in the old town, pop by and have a look.
Nice castle, you can see all of bratislava from the tower.
A nice square with some activities and restaurants around.
Unfortunately it isnt there now. Its probably on restoration. Hope to see this ancient peace of art some other time.
The place is great and offers lovely views. Of course it is very touristy and everything is on the pricier side. However the locals are friendly and the shopkeepers dont haggle.
An excellent medieval fountain totally ruined by adding another round marble rim. Cannot imagine what kind of barbaric psycho could have approved it.
Nice spot
Maximilianova Fountain. A statue of Maximilian II, King of Hungary, who built a public water supply here in 1572.
Oldest standing fountain in the city, it was ordered by Maximilian II, Holy Roman Emperor after a fire in 1563. Major reconstruction in the mid-18th century, outer pool added in 2006. The fountain features in local legends. It is a Slovak National Cultural Monument.
Simply amazing fountain witnessing alots of history events and kings coronations. It is located in the main town square.near the cafes.
The Roland Fountain (sometimes referred to as Maximilian Fountain; Slovak: Rolandova fontána or Maximiliánova fontánais the most famous fountain in Bratislava, Slovakia, as well as one of the citys important landmarks. It is located in the Old Town, in the Main Square. Its construction was ordered by Maximilian II, the king of Royal Hungary, in 1572 to provide a public water supply. The fountain is topped by a statue of Maximilian portrayed as a knight in full armor sculpted by master A. Lutringer. Its current appearance is probably far from its original look, since it has been modified and rebuilt several times. However its popularity remains unaltered, still being one of the downtowns favorite meeting points. Many legends are centered on this fountain, mostly featuring Maximilian as the towns protector.
Also called the roland fountain. Looks good in between the old town area and is also one of the most visited spots in Bratislava.

Bratislava is a beautiful city, especially the Old town area. The square was pretty with various aged buildings (from ~1300-900s). Vendor market was nearby to find some local crafts and souvenirs.
A nice spot in the city center. A lot of pubs and restaurants are in the area so its easy to find a place for a quick bite during a walk around the city
