Retailer offering a range of chocolate & related novelties, most branches with a restaurant or cafe.
I had banana hazelnut crepe and original hot chocolate. Crepe looked good but too sweet, two people couldn’t finish it. Hot chocolate… wasn’t hot at all. Ambiance really bad and disturbing light and fan. Service also really bad. Not recommended.
The service was very bad and the place is not really open until 11 pm it closed before I went a few times and it was closed at 10 pm and when it was open the service was very bad!!!! I am very disappointed and the desserts are not really as tasty as I thought
The food was savory. The chocolate was On. Point. The cookie pizza.... Perfection. The drinks are dangerously delicious in that you can barely taste the alcohol. Definitely coming back!
Cannot overstate the good nature and friendliness of the staff here! I had a lovely brunch here with a friend last Sunday. They made helpful drink suggestions and were attentive. The fries and fondue were yummy. I wouldnt recommend the artichoke dip as I feel its quite overpriced for the small size, but thats the only thing Id say "skip."
The food and cocktails were very tasty!!! The wait staff was friendly and pleasant. Will dine there again soon.
Love the food here. Its creative and definitely a refreshing twist on some great classics. Would dine here everyday if I could. Very clean. Courteous staff. Great service
I pre booked a table for 7 for my daughter’s 15th birthday family dinner. We were promptly seated upon our arrival however there were no table settings. Water was brought out to us one by one, I then requested bottle water which two unopened bottles were brought to the table. I had to request the bottles to be opened and for new glasses to be bought out. The appetizers arrived however we had no plates, cutlery, or napkins…those were requested and bought out and stacked up….we handled them out amongst ourselves. When dinner arrived, 4 out the 7 didn’t like the food, one of the four dinners was sent back…a burger was sent back…the birthday girl’s dinner! The burger was dry and hard. We had to request for my daughter’s guest dinner, which was a salad to be brought out, which they just forgot! We ordered the shareable fondue tray, which was very good. I asked if they did anything special for birthdays and I was told yes. My daughter received a plate of melting whipped cream with melting chocolate. The waitress was very pleasant but I will NEVER attend this establishment again.
If you have a sweet tooth, look no further. Everything was very tasty and decadent. 😊
The waiting time is ridiculous! Seated at 4:30 ordered a Berber burger and kids chicken finger! Plus a cup of coffee! 5:30 and we only received a cup of coffee claiming “ a well done” burger will take that long! If you were honoring your the customers at least come up with smarter lies! Left the restaurant, will never come back
Smaller and less busy than expected, but everything was delicious. I originally had trouble getting a reservation as everything was booked. As the time got closer, a time slot popped up. But in the restaurant, there were 2 tables right next to us that remained open our entire visit. Kids loved it. Kid meals are pretty close to adult sized meals. Fondue was probably not worth the price for what you got, but the experience was.
We went late at night for dessert, delicious waffle, nice options, good size for 2 but plates are big, you might want to share or go when youre hungry. Good service.
We went after the Philly Auto Show and had reservations. 4 adults and 2 kids and everything was amazing. They handled my daughter spilling water like a champ, the waiter was friendly and attentive. But most of all the food was amazing! Save room for dessert! Yummm. My burger was perfect, but definitely my favorite was my hot chocolate…I got the Italian thick and it was creamy perfection. My son got the Oreo hot chocolate and it was just too sweet for him, almost like the Oreo filling was melted and cookie pieces added.
Absolutely worth the try! Only downsides, drinks were OVERLY strong. Usually I’d appreciate a heavy pour, but we were unable to even taste the chocolate or flavors in our drinks due to how strong they were. Only took a few sips before it became unenjoyable. Food was great, as well as our server. We did sit there for about 25 minutes before anyone even came to our table to take our order, even though only three other tables were filled beside us. A bit pricey but worth it. I would return again if wait time for service wasn’t so bad!
Came here an hour before they closed online, but the host told us they were closing early. The host told us to order at the bar and take it to go. It was raining outside so we didn’t want to, but headed to the bar anyway. The bartender was friendly and told us we could eat here. We ordered desserts quickly and ate them and left while there were still four other tables here. The food was good and hit that chocolate craving well, but your restaurant shouldn’t have employees telling guests you’re closing early if you aren’t. It was clear he just didn’t want to be there anymore
This place is absolutely dangerous!!! Incredibly well thought it and executed desserts, shakes, and cocktails are definitely the highlight.
After waiting 20 mins I managed to grab the attention of the staff to get a drink order entered. The spinach “fondue” was cold, the lemon herb chicken tasted how body odor smelled and all the food including the appetizer came out at once….save your money folks! There are a lot of restaurants to choose from in the area. And the chicken was fatty….
Very nice and friendly place with the great selection of chocolate and chocolate based meals. Surprisingly they also offer very decent burgers with fries, great waffles, milk shakes. The chocolate fondue (photowas especially a fine touch. My daughter loves the place.
Celebrating my birthday post pandemic, waiter Ryen was fabulous and tentative. I mostly had chocolate specialty drinks, which is life changing.
Came after work to grab a bite only to get lackluster service and even Worse food! It took out server 15 to take a drink order and even long to receive it. Once food showed up at the table my onion rings were cold and not the best but then the $24 steak arrived to the table the size of a Barbie meal! And not cooked to the proper temperature I asked. Server took it back and I waited another 45min to receive another overcooked steak. DO NOT WASTE YOU ENERGY OR MONEY COMING HERE!!
This place is always awesome... we tried the peanut butter and marshmallow pizza... incredible! On top of this we got a chocolate milkshake... you dont need anything else... well, maybe water for all these sweetness. :)
That spinach artichoke “fondue” was definitely NOT THAT! idk if they desperately need the money but that price is not worth that small portion. In addition, they claim it’s for two but I could eat it alone! My date had the only pasta on the menu & it was not that much honestly. She ate it in less than 10 minutes…they need to add more to the menu. I guess bc of C0vid, they scaled back—that seems to be everyone’s reason. My waiter was great, the dessert was good but they need to adjust their prices or give bigger portions for some items.
I went for my mothers birthday, and have been before and have had amazing experiencea. Today was completely different. We got sat right away and was greeted in a timely matter, however the server didnt greet with water, explaining they just put it in the fridge, which is understandable. We put in our whole order, including drinks and the server left. We waited 40 minutes for two pepsis, a milkshake and the boozy lemonade. And we still did not get water, instead when we asked was told "oh I asked you if you wanted some" When no, you told us it was put in the fridge and we expected to get it when it was cold. We ordered fries for an appetizers, which came out with our food, which we got an hour after we sat. The two burgers came out with soggy buns and were not brioche as stated, until we got a new bun. The sauteed onions on the regular cheeseburger was not sauteed, as well as the "romain lettuce" On the signature burger appeared like the tips of two spinach leaves, and were very tiny and wilted. The only redemption was the dessert, which we had to ask for even though I told them prior it was a birthday dinner, and even then was met with some doubt before being told that they would do what they muster up bc they dont do anything really, even tho a table in the section next to us had a birthday and got their dessert with no raised eyebrows. I am a service worker, a server myself, and I do not normally leave reviews and I give many chances but tonight I felt very underwhelmed and very upset bc the service was not up to par with what Ive seen many times before. For a slow Thursday night I was very insulted about how terrible the food and dining experience was.
I visited the same place in 2018 and it was an amazing experience. Back again in 2021 and not the same. The chocolate for the fondue was cold as ice! No one bothered to light up the candle at the bottom. The brownies and cake was crumbling as I picked it up and couldn’t hold it. They replaced it and the same problem! So, just had to give up.
This is the best place to take the chocolate lover in your life and still get some other good food. The selection is amazing and the service is fast. The chocolate martini is a great way to start things off and the fondue puts a great cap on the dinner. I would reccomend this to anyone with a sweet tooth.
I visited on a Sunday at opening and was seated immediately. I have deducted two stars because the service was basically nonexistent. The server came up to our table about 15 minutes after we had been seated and brought water. We placed an order for drinks and were given the wrong beverages and had to go up to the bar ourselves to get the correct drinks because the server hadn’t returned to check in. Quite awhile later the server came and took our food order. The food and drinks were enjoyable. The chocolate shop seemed to be lacking in inventory and didn’t have many options to choose from.
Ordered the mac and cheese and Max’s Famous Chocolate Mess for Two which were absolutely delicious. The customer service was fantastic as well. Highly recommend!
They have such good customer service, great calm setting to chill back with your friends or your boo. I loved the whole vibe at this restaurant. Oh, and the food is top-tier! they also have a fabulous desert selection it’s like a chocolate factory lol.
Honestly the chocolate is underwhelming. The food is decent but a bit over priced. I think the interior looks great and they have a cute gift shop inside as well. You would much rather stop by the gift shop for chocolates, mixes, and kitchenware which are quirky. As for the food, there are plenty of better places nearby if you’re looking for a more intimate environment without the price tag.
I am so happy my fiancée found this place for us to try on our visit to Philly. AMAZING. I never knew such a restaurant existed! We shared some waffles and chocolate pizza and had some delicious drinks!
I was so excited to try this restaurant!Heres what I can say the service was good my waitress was very helpful. The actual waffle sandwich I ordered looked beautiful in presentation but the chicken was dried out. The waffle fries and aioli sauce was definitely delicious! Would I pay 16.00 for a sandwich again nope. However the cheese fondue and chocolate fondue was amazing and all the desserts were fantastic!!
If Willy Wonka decided to open up a hipster restaurant instead of a massive chocolate factory, Max Brenner would be the result.A decadent, chocolate covered menu awaits any visitor to this restaurant, and for the price, what you get is quite impressive. I went with several friends who ordered a sharing fondue platter that was absolutely covered with every manner of edible chocolate conception. It even came with a small cauldron set a light for the purpose of toasting your own marshmallows.I helped myself to a caramel milkshake which was quite delicious in their signature drink me milkshake cup. My wife enjoyed a hazelnut crepe that she says she would get again in a heartbeat. If there is a Max Brenner anywhere near you and you have any affection for chocolate whatsoever, this is a must.
One of best dessert places in Philadelphia! Everything on menu is absolutely delicious! Most of food contains some kind of chocolate. Milkshakes are to die for
It is the chocolate lovers paradise... We had the chocolate fondue and I cant even begin to describe how absolutely amazing it was... The place is lively, the service is awesome, everything is just spectacular!!
Definitely good, but too crowded and they need to adjust their espresso machine to pull a slightly longer shot. Espresso was a little sour. They should space the tables out more... Profit over customer comfort I guess.
TLDR (too long didnt read AKA a summary):Bad customer service. WAY too sweet food, not quality food. Overpriced.Only fun thing about going was brainstorming what I would write in this review.1. Review:So... I was very excited to go to Max Brenner in Philly because I had been in Manhattan and had a fond memory of the experience. However, I was very disappointed with the experience.1a. About the food:The food is really expensive, not cheap, so youd hope for high quality. Well this tastes more like food from a fair. I ordered a hot chocolate in the hug mug and the waiter told me that it was really hot be careful. I took a sip and it was lukewarm, so I asked him to heat it up... and he did thankfully. Then the fondue: also lukewarm chocolate. Poor quality fruit and other dippings for the fondue. Poor quality chocolate. The best thing we got was the chocolate loaded pizza and the only reason it was better was because it had a layer of plain crust to cut some of the crazy sweetness of the pizza. This was all their food... way way too sweet but not rich or quality food, tastes like they pour sugar into it in hopes of covering up poor quality. Well it didnt work for me.1b. About customer service:Upon arrival, there werent many seats available so we were told it might be 45 minutes. Then, a manager told us they could seat us at two tables. Shortly after we saw another waiter place another group at those tables... and we were told that the manager had been mistaken. Then they told us they could seat us at two tables far away from each other - we asked if we could sit at two empty tables next to each other (our group was too large for one tablebut they said no... and then as soon as we walked by the empty tables the waitress said oh you can sit here. Okay. Lots of miscommunication, disorganization and lack of customer service and care.Dont blame the people blame the establishment.
The best chocolate restaurant in city ! It is always crowded so make sure you reserve your table ahead of time. Service is little slow but it is worth the wait. Location is very ideal, so you can grab a meal or dinner somewhere else and come here for dessert. Or they also have food menu so you can have your entire meal in the restaurant !
The place is a chocolate-lover’s dream and the only place where I have seen with a list of chocolate options that go on for pages. I was full and didn’t have room for dessert, but I had a minty frozen lemonade that was absolutely delicious. Posted pictures of what my friends ate.
One of the best places in town to get good food and great desserts. I love the hot chocolate in the hug mug, banana hazelnut crêpe ❤️ the drinks and entrées are also worth it.
Enjoyed dinner, drinks AND dessert! Mac and cheese burger was amazing! Artichoke spinach dip was delicious. Surprisingly, everyone REALLY enjoyed the thrice baked chicken wings - give them a try! And for dessert.... shareable fondue! 😋😋😋 the best part for me..... the Affogato!! Holy cow- really excellent double shot of espresso, ice cream and drinkable chocolate- I cannot recommend this more! To top it all off - Ryan was a fantastic server 😊
This place is AMAZING! Its a restaurant with a little chocolate shop attached. Whats awesome about Max Brenner is that they have a normal menu (which has burgers, salads, sandwiches, soups, etc., which are all amazingas well as a dessert menu (crepes, pancakes, waffles CHOCOLATE PIZZA!!!!!). The hot chocolate is probably the best Ive ever had and the chocolate pizza is a must. Got a burger as main meal and it was delicious. 100% recommend!!!!
If theres one thing you have to try, its the Chocolate Martini. Very smooth. All the other regular food stuff are good too. And I usually buysome chocolate boxes for gifts. Theres a commercial parking facility right beside it with typical Philly parking price.
I had lunch here today and ordered items off the Restaurant week menu ($20). The caesar salad, burger and chocolate dusted fries were delicious, in spite of the burger being a little more pink than I cared for - in what was supposed to be a medium well done burger. The pièce de résistance of this meal was the strawberry hazelnut crepe a la mode, accompanied by chocolate, which was simply divine. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for chocolate lovers.
The most amazing smell of really good chocolate almost knocks you over the second you step in the door. We made reservations, and they were on top of it. We were seated almost immediately. We had an appetizer, onion rings with a chocolate ranch dipping sauce. The onion rings were extremely fresh, had to have been made in house, and were excellent. Then we had our main courses which were excellent as well. I had a steak and potatoes. It was one of the best steaks Ive had in a very long time. After that came the desserts, the main reason for visiting really. The kid had one of the best milkshakes Ive ever tasted. We got a sundae, and also the churros with fondue. Everything was amazing! I highly recommend this place! It really wasnt super expensive either. For 4 people with appetizers, meals and desserts our bill was around $150. Not bad for a nice place with great, attentive staff, and amazing food! If you have a chance, give it a try!
Dont hate it but I dont love it. The drinks is the best thing here and dessert . Food is just ok. I suggest only coming here during restaurant week. Prices are way high. Food similar to ruby tuesday . But you do get the feeling of being in willy Wonka and the chocolate factory. It certainly do smell like chocolate
What an amazing place! Chocolate, ice creams, snacks, mills shakes, desserts! So many varieties! We went here after our dinner to have something small. We just chose 2 scoops of ice creams on a waffle cone but this is what we got for $10! Probably that was the least amount for any menu item thy had but even that was so fancy! Parking could be difficult here though. Loved it!
First time here and waddled out! The lunches were great but desserts are their specialty!! I would like to go back here for just desserts, their menus are overwhelmingly enticing. Great for any kind of get together
Oh my goodness! A chocolate and then some. Their quesadilla is awesome and the mac-n-cheese was delicious. Your sweet tooth will thank you for the fondue or chocolate milkshake. Family friendly, prices fair, and service was prompt. Highly recommended!
The ice cream was quite big and tastes so yummy. There were two side small plates around the big cup. One was additional sweetener cream and the oher one was whipped cream. I also liked the waffle fries. The service was quick, and the waiters were very nice. It was not inexpensive, but it was worth it. I will definitely come back again for the chocolate ice cream, and for the tasty sirloin burgers.
OK food. Not really a large menu. The flat bread pizza tastes like frozen pizza from shop rite. Chocolate drinks and awesome. Martini was amazing. My advice would be to go for dessert and eat somewhere else. Service was OK. Felt a little rushed
Just stopped by last night for a quick bite, and had a great experience. The waitress was very friendly and kind, and brought out our food when expected. They were having restaurant week, so we ordered off of that menu, it was $35 for four courses that were phenomenal.I got the "Dippers Dream" as the app which was displayed uniquely. Then for the entrée I ordered "The Brenner Burger" which had so much flavor (ordered medium)! The third course was the chocolate tasting plate, which everyone gets. And finally I got the Urban Smores.Check out the pictures.
