Bukhara, Uzbekistan, Navoiy
Renowned monument with detailed brickwork, built from 892—943 CE as the mausoleum for a ruler.
Architecture of this Mausoleum is different from the other ones that we can find in Bukhara or Samarkand. Even if it is very small it is worth it to take a look at from the outside. But not sure that paying to see it from the inside (10 000 sumis necessary. Unless you are a great lover of the architecture or necropole.
The inside is nice to see, as its very old seeming. The fee is 5000 per person.
This is a beautiful mausoleum and whilst there is no interior ornate finishing as in the other mosques in town, the stone work is excellent. Its a real gem.
A sublime piece of architecture bringing together so many traditions from Islamic and Ancient Persia.
One of the oldest and original Muslim monuments in town. Survived without restoration.Unfortunately, contrary to what us written here, you have to pay an entrance fee.
Remarkable site! Fascinating!!
Ancient architectural monument in Bukhara (ca. 864-868). The mausoleum of Ismail Samani, the founder of the Samani state, and his descendants. Name. The 4 sides are in the form of a single truss, and the quiet brick decoration is reminiscent of a fence with spikes or reeds, burra texture. The thickness of the wall is 1.8 m, the dimensions are 10.80×10.70 m outside, 7.20×7.20 m inside. It is topped with a dome. 4 corners are made in the form of columns, 4 domes are placed around the dome. At the top of the wall is a yellow window (40). Every window is framed. The roof of the porch is bordered by a garland of brick and tin coins. On both ends, a charm is made of a small finger. The interior of the building is inextricably linked with the exterior decoration and is stylistically the same. The inner wall, under the dome, rests on columns. The arches form the base of the 8-sided dome. Columns supporting the dome are made in the corners of the edges. At the time of the archeological excavation (1927), it was found that there were 2 wooden saganas in the room. According to written sources and narrations, the mausoleum was built on the grave of Ismail Somanis father. Ask local guides to tell the story about this place, amazingly interesting
Really beautiful from the outside set in the park the only planet book says free however the lady wanted to charge us 5000 to get in
Small but lovely
Really interesting history and architecture (if you dont go with a guide then have a sit nearby in the nice park and do some reading), but not as remarkable as the other sites in town. Like other reviews, it seemed that paying to enter was very inconsistent (different rates or whether you paid at all), but its still worth the walk to see the outside. The surrounding park is also really nice and a great way to spend time.
Wonderful
I never heard that much birds singing in the same time.It was extraordinary.Very beautiful early islamisk stille
One of the oldest Mausoleums in the Muslim world, it shows wonderful types of architecture and symbolism. Allegedly, entrance is free yet when we wanted to enter a lady tried to bill us - we didn’t enter as we could admire the inside through the wooden windows and the door.Next to it, you can find an empty Hauz (water bath). The mausoleum is located in a relatively charming and quiet park. Be sure to continue your walk towards the Talipach gate (further Westand head back to the city through the Central Bazaar. The latter one is quite authentic and used by locals exclusively.
Very beautiful and historical
One of the must visit & see places in Beautiful Bukhara
Beautiful old mausoleum with intricate brickwork. The most interesting part to me was the ferris wheel in the background and the depressing "zoo" mere steps away. It created quite the juxtaposition. I was thinking about it for the rest of the day.
Interesting monument, would loved to read some interpretation panels around the site though
Park
My favourite monument in the city. Its really catching your eyes and not wanting to let go. Beautiful piece of architecture.
The mausoleum of the most important ruler of the Samanids is of a modest size. It is a very well-preserved example of brick decoration techniques from the time that the glazed tile had not yet been invented. Both the outside and the inside are decorated with a large number of patterns, making the mausoleum an important art-historical monument. The mausoleum is located just outside the center in the Samonids Recreation Park and is well worth the short walk.
Lovely old building. Lovely grounds and area around. Make sure you get a photo of you with the building reflection from the other side of thr water
The oldest building still standing in Bukhara. Dont miss it.Beware of a scam where people are asked to pay 5000 som entrance. It is free.
Ancient mausoleum in western Burkhara. Its a long walk in the hot sun to get here, but if youre a fan of unique Islamic architecture, its worth seeing! Relax for a while in the shade in the park to take a break
Just one small monument
A very old masoleum. Small, but very impressive work. The gardens around it are very nice too. Definitely a good spot to take a break from central Bukhara. There was a Lady chatting 5000 cym, but I got the impression she was just collecting money for herself 😅
World heritage. Nothing spectacular though but its more than 1000 years old.
Nice place with big garden near the building
Strange women asked to pay entrance fee, but it’s a scam. All places where you need to pay entrance fee have a ticket window (“КАССА”with ticket prices in English. Be aware!
Just off the beaten track, worth a walk through the park to a tranquil spot to reflect on the day.
Interesting archeological place with nice stories about its history
9th century mausoleum. Fascinating brickwork.
nice place,missing sign, nice walk
Beautiful building, a piece of the history. Wonderful energies and nature. 🙏🤗
While the structure is visually appealing, at the time of my visit (2017there were no signs to help elaborate on its significance and yet visitors had to pay to enter. Some people would quickly enter and exit (its a small mausoleum after allwhile the sole staff was away or distracted. A visit would take maximum ten minutes.
Awesome mausoleum!!! Beautifull architecture and lots of history embedded at this place.
Nice from the outside, paid 4000 som to get in even though I noticed other western tourists paying nothing after. Not worth the cost of a tea
Wonderful Mausoleum Building design.Building Art has many acient civilization influence.
Beautiful and unique place
Not much to see in there- from the outside beautiful though
Mausoleum from the 900AD. Very well preserved. Small but beautiful piece of art. Inside it is quite shady and cool when outside it is too hot
Really great. 1000 years old shrine without restoration and still look fresh. Great example of really old style (it was zorastrian Temple of Sun)
Located in a park, worth a visit if youre free. Good place to relax and take some bites
A well look after monument. Spotless exterior with a simple undecorated interior dome. If youre after highly ornate decor, you might be disappointed. Still worth going if youre in Bukhara.
The Samanid mausoleum is located in a park just outside the historic urban center of Bukhara, Uzbekistan.
1200s era mausoleum, hard clay bricks of amazing design. A must see
very unusual for the local architecture
Ancient and remarkable.
An incredible building highlighting the regions transition from Zoroastrianism to Islam by displaying elements of both religions in its architecture.
One of Uzbekistans most ancient buildings, the Ismoil Samoniy Maqbarasi in Bukhara dates from the early 10th century.
