Unfortunately this place was closed during our visit.

This is next to the site of the hassan tower. The entry was closed at the time of our visit. Looks amazing from the outside. Must be very beautiful inside I presume.

Still closed as of October 2022. Pretty enough plaza.

The square with the mausoleum and the Hassantower is really beautiful. Unfortunately the mausoleum was closed. I don’t know what the opening times are.

The Mausoleum of Mohammed V is located across from the Hassan Tower in Rabat, Morocco. It contains the tombs of the Moroccan king Mohammed V and his two sons, late King Hassan II and Prince Abdallah.The mausoleum complex was designed by Vietnamese architect Cong Vo Toan using traditional forms with modern materials. The rich materials, as well as the deliberate use of historical crafts and motifs, is meant to not only pay tribute to Mohammed V but also to evoke his own efforts to encourage traditional craftsmanship as a means of promote a sense of Moroccan identity.Construction began in 1961 and involved renovations to the esplanade of the ruined Almohad-era mosque to which the Hassan Tower belonged. Construction was completed in 1971 and Mohammed Vs body was transferred here that same year. His son Abdallah was buried here in 1983. Hassan II was buried here in 1999.

Great place to visit and take photos. One of the few places you are allowed to the photos of guards.

It is such a beautiful tomb and astonished me for how elegant the Islamic architecture is, the geometrical shape, the order or curve on the wall and coloums and the pure colour they used.The tomb was closed when I visited, but I could see the past ruined site. This place is open to the public, and you can see the Royal Guard riding a horse, which is very interesting, and you can take a picture with them.The remains of the approximately 200 columns can make you imagine how big the mosque was, and this heritage site is now becoming a big plaza where you can walk around from time to time in the day.One more thing, there is a small comparative mosuqe beside the tomb where I did see people get in doing worship.

t was a balmy afternoon and I was of happy mind to visit the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and Hassan Tower in Rabat. Luckily, I was able to take a photo with the handsome Household Cavalry who was wearing one unique and colorful costume. The Household Cavalry, in their bright uniforms, are the object of a photo rush by tourists.This is one fabulous attraction for the tourists, because I can see many visitors in the location.The mausoleum of Muhammad V is a modern Alawite dynasty architectural style, the overall white outline, but the roof is a typical green tile roof, the building is majestic with elegant style.When you come to Rabat, the capital of Morocco, you definitely can’t miss the symbol of Rabat- Hassan Tower and the ruins of the Great Mosque of Hassan.

Closed, but good to enjoy when you walk thru to the adjacent area of the Hassan Tower.

It’s funny how they stopped the construction right after the old king passed away.

Amazing architecture and well kept sadly we could not enter inside due to the restrictions of COVID.It’s a must visit site during your visit in Rabat.The Royal Guard is something which you can watch and click pics.

Sadly when visited the Mausoleum of Mohammed V was closed due to (COVID-19).. but hope you enjoy the Royal Guard.

The heritage site is so nice, the architecture is amazing. Its just that its still closed for public.

One of the MUST places to visit while in Rabat. Mausoleum is very beautiful inside. Its open during the day and possible to visit the upper balcony, from which you can look inside the hall with tomb of Mohammed V and his 2 sons, Hassan II and Abdallah. Rise your hear up to see beautiful mosaic on ceiling, typical Moroccan art in architectural perfection.

A beautiful mausoleum that you have never seen.I wanted to see this more .

The mausoleum is a historical landmark of Rabat and also the resting place of King Mohammed V. The grounds are also a nice place to come and relax and its hardly ever busy (at least on the several occasions that I have been there). Its particularly pleasant to come here in the late afternoon/early evening.

King Mohammed V. Moroccos Tomb is a national shrine. It is a special, very impressive structure. Not to be missed! In the early 1900s he was the Sultan of Morocco. Later he was exiled to Corsica, followed by Madagascar with his family. In 1955, Mohammed V. returned to his country, formed a government, and then took the title of King of Morocco.He died in surgery in 1961 in a hospital.

A must see place, if you go to see Hassan tower you can also discovery this wonderful palace.the royal palace built with high quality materials, to note the beauty of the domehere and buried Mohammed V.

This is one of the most visited places in Morocco. Taking pictures werent allowed in here but its no longer the case!

On the same site as Hassan Tower this is a large mausoleum devoted to the tomb of Moroccan king and his sons.The architecture and tiles are amazing and the royal guards stand proud guarding in all their finery. The tomb is guarded with a person seated 24/7.

Stunning place. Inside are the monuments of kings. Royal guards make it an even better view.

This is a spiritual site everyone should visit. There are royal guards everywhere and while it is a mausoleum, its architectural style is stunning. If only all tourists would treat it with the level of respect it deserves. Silence, ask if you can take pictures of the guards rather than just go for it and dont dress like you are going to the beach with flip flops and an under shirt. Fabulous site and excellent point to walk down the hill towards the river area.

A must visit in Rabat! The place is absolutely stunning! It is easy to get there, very accesible! Architecture is just mind blowing.

A relaxing place for families and tourists to go. However the opening hours of the mausoleum is changeable.

One of many tourist stops in Morocco. This was on the way to Fes from the Casablanca Airport. It was great to get out of the car and stretch our legs. They had many beautiful things to see and look at. You will take many pictures so make sure to have enough space!

Apart from it’s obvious aesthetically pleasing architecture, the other part of this mosque that I loved was that buses of school children visit. Instantly, a place of respect and wonder is transformed by excited kids who refuse to observe the code of silence. The ‘must do’ at the mausoleum is to look up at the beautifully intricate and gilded domed ceiling above - outstanding

If you like mausoleums, this one is as ostentatious as it gets. The ceiling is absolutely mesmerising.

And interesting place where the Moroccans seem to visit quite a bit given the size of the crowd.

Take the tram at 6 Dirham to 16th of Novembre Station. This place is free and amazing. The views magazine worthy.The guards and horsemen dressed beautifully. The tomb itself high art as architecture. Do not miss this. Do not get off at the station closest to Hassan Tower, you will have to walk back to the 16th of November besides risking life crossing the highway. A kind driver helped us cross by blocking two/three lanes. More acts of kindness in Morocco. The Muslim faith one of compassion and love.

Historical land with old monuments mixed in with a fairly recently built mausoleum. The mausoleum houses the last 3 kings in a beautiful room with guards surrounding every corner. The views are also impressive with some of Rabat city and sea water. Dont miss taking a picture with guards at the entrance and exit of the mausoleum and also those on horses outside the walls of this historic site.

Right next to the Hassan tower, it is a gorgeous building holding the tomb of Mohammed V. It has intricate details and is very beautiful.

A historical site. A most magnificent mausoleum. Situated in the capital city of Rabat.

Nice spot for photos, but will not take up much of your time. It only took us 15 minutes, but could possibly take someone else up to an hour.We didnt have a tour guide for this one, do I am not sure how long a guided tour would take that goes over the history.

Beautiful​. An absolute must on your list of places to visit. There is something overwhelmingly peaceful about the mausoleum.

Just in front of Hassan Minarate and a few meters of Rabats old Medina. Great architectural building, true Moroccan style. Totally recommended if you are visiting Rabat.

A dignified and reverent place of rest for a well loved King. Photography is acceptable, the guards are pleasant, and the architecture is outstanding. Well worth a visit if youre in Rabat, but perhaps not worth it if travelling from further afield.

It was inaugurated in 1967. The Mausoleum contains the remains of Mohamed V, Hassan Two and also his brother. The entrance to the mausoleum is free and it is worth a visit. The best material was used to build this mausoleum. However, the design came from a Vietnamese architect!Inside, there is a ceiling covered with cedar. Gold and precious stones and materials were used inside the construction. Indeed, the architecture is Alaouite and it is well preserved.It is located in the nice neighborhood Yacoub Al Mansour across from the Hassan Tower.The colors outside are white walls and red roofs. Inside the floors are of marble and granite. The motifs and designs around are gorgeous. A headstone indicates where the first king is buried.The place is solemn so you must be respectful. Once outside there is a beautiful Garden. If you are lucky, you might see a changing of the guards. Be adventurous and visit this land of fantasy.
