Matteo's in Port Colborne

We went on a Friday night and we had reservations for 5:30.The restaurant itself is very small so you might want to call ahead for reservations.We ordered the prosciutto and arugula pizza along with the scallop , shrimp and mussel pasta.Unfortunately I wasnt a huge fan of the pizza, the pasta was nice and spicy but then again I just found it okay. The mussels and scallops were delicious I just wish the sauce had been different.Our waitress was super friendly, but unfortunately we did have to wait a while for our drinks and then also quite a while for our food.We were given for small pieces of bread and a tiny bowl of balsamic vinegar with olive oil with chickpeas and some veg all mixed in , it was tasty but very strong on the vinegar side.I would really like to go back to matteos and give them another try in the food department because I did see some meals that looked really good.

Amazing! Cant say enough good things about this place. 6 of us went here tonight for dinner. Everyones meals were incredible. Service was top notch. Owner made us feel at home. Absolutely amazing experience all around! Thank you for such an unreal experience.

My boyfriend and I had the honor of dining in Matteos a few times.Not only is the food phenomenal, but the service was incredible.The owner, Matteo, is very customer focused, and does his very best to make sure everyone is happy.The restaurant is pretty small, but the atmosphere is very uplifting.All staff are very welcoming, polite and attentive.They have an amazing wood oven, and the pizza comes out perfect every time!!The food is super fresh and always delicious and well portioned.Definitely one of a kind restaurant.They really put the fine, in fine dining!Would rate more than 5 stars if I could, it is the highest quality gourmet cuisine I have ever had.Will definitely be back!

Wow!!! If you are looking for amazing, fresh, delicious, authentic Italian food, this place is a MUST! The owner and chef, Matteo, takes pride in his beautiful, fresh ingredients that he uses in all of the dishes. Everything is made fresh and from scratch. Great portions and very reasonable prices. Our server, Alexis, went above and beyond to make sure our group of 19 was taken care of. Thank you for the hospitality… if back in Welland, my husband and I will be back . Grazie!

From the beginning of our experience to the end it was the best dining experience we have ever had. The food was phenomenal. The atmosphere was cozy and personal. The chef and staff the most welcoming and had the best personal touches Ive ever experienced. The whole evening exceeded our expectations! This is a must try restaurant!

Where do I start - if I could give ten stars, I would!! We have been in Welland for three nights and after the first nights dinner, there was not a chance we were going anywhere else for the next two dinners.This is a cozy establishment and the atmosphere is huge! I felt as though I was greeted by family with the warm welcome of Matteo, Terri, Alexis and Jake. The appetizers, meals and dessert are all well priced and you are well fed. Exceptional service by everyone from drinks and appetizers to dinner and dessert…..omg, the phyllo wrapped cheesecake with warm caramel sauce 🥰Ever meal is made fresh to order from start to finish. The presentation is mouthwatering. The dessert is divine!!! The company, like family.We will definitely miss our dinners here as we head back home tomorrow afternoon but I know, we will be making this a regular trip in the future.

Came from Montreal to dont ne at Matteo’s again , and the experience did not disappoint! Matteo’s homemade pasta was aldente, the veal parm was melt in your mouth perfection, and the sauce in both the veal and the fish plate was light snd flavourful. Our dessert a cream cheese cake wrapped in a delicate phylo crust was devine. The service was fabulous and Matteo our host very warm and gracious - a true restaurateur - we will be back Matteo !

Had a 5pm reservation and we were the first ones in the restaurant however it filled up quickly and we were forgotten about. Waitress never came back to ask how food was. My carbonara was extremely salty. After we were finished waited 20 minutes for the plates to be cleared as she walked by us numerous times. Forgot our dessert then asked if we wanted it to go. NO we were out for dinner. Won’t be back !!

Matteo’s is a breath of fresh air! It has the most amazing pizzas and pastas around and he even does TAKE OUT! The staff are courteous and friendly. The manager even remembers your name! The angliotti is heavenly. I definitely recommend.

August 9, 2022 - Had a dine-in meal for four. I had the Veal Parmesan and the others had gnocchi, penne pollo and fettucine alfredo. As before, the dishes were perfectly prepared from a size, taste and presentation perspective. Their oil and bean dip is a unique way to enjoy some bread before the entrees arrived. They were out of the Riesling we wanted, but substituted a Riesling-Gewurtztramminer which paired well with the dishes. Service was attentive and responsive as usual!March 2022 - Had a takeout dinner order of Arancini, Eggplant Parmesan and Veal Parmesan.It was ready as promised within a half hour and even though the restaurant was packed as it was a Friday, the service was prompt.The dishes were the right size (not too much, not too littleand hot and tasted great after driving home.

Always enjoyed this place until the last time we ate there. We ordered the seafood pasta, and the sauce was not merely puttanesca but over the top hot, as though a whole jar of red peppers had been dumped in it. This totally drowned out the seafood flavours - actually even the tomato flavour - all flavours. I can’t figure out why, as usually the flavours are balanced, and the deserts are delicious. Fortunately, the waitress offered to replace my order at no cost. My husband stuck with it, although he also found it too hot ( and he likes Vindaloo!). Unfortunately, this used to be a favourite dish, and a major reason for us to visit. With regrets, it may have been our last visit.

Busy place so if you are in a hurry maybe look elsewhere. But the owner and his sister are great people and the food was on point.

5 star for Welland, I grew up here and granted the hours this guy always has fresh delicious food. I usually get the lobster benedict ive never had a bad piece of seafood or odd tasting dish its always been fresh, delicious and consistent. Their wood oven pizza is great as well. Definitely support this restaurant!

This place is a hidden gem ! I am almost regretting writing this review because i dont want it to get any busier. Had the best antipasto plate of my life and a wonder meal of veal parm. Amazing atmosphere and top notch service.

Ordered over the phone for pickup, when arriving to pick up the food I was the only one in the restaurant and they had just started making my food as I arrived. I waited an additional 35 mins and the food wasnt even warm. Heard this was a good place but I dont think Ill be going back.

Best Italian food I’ve ever had (other than my Nonna’s, but I might be biased on that). Seriously this place is a hidden GEM. We got a few apps, a bottle of wine, and main dish. It was all fantastic. The environKent was so cute and cozy as well.

Had such a great night at Matteos. My fiancées lobster ravioli was perfection and my homemade fettuccini sausage and rappini was delightful. Cant wait to be back again. Matteo (owneris so welcoming. Come pay him and his great restaurant a visit.

Ordered Lobster Ravioli, which tasted so bad that we no longer want to order Lobster Ravioli somewhere else. The lobster inside of vavioli is cold/frozen and tasted like fake lobster meat. Very disappointed.

They have gotten lazy. The last time we ate there will be the last. Pizza was greasy. Cooking staff was inexperienced. Beet gnocchi was served with Red Sauce or Alfredo??? I was literally served it with a soup spoon with so much sauce. No exaggeration. Owner who was sort of a hostess did not smile or made us at all feel welcome. Owner man was drinking wine???????? This place seriously went downhill. But there are still enough local patrons around to fill the tiny place. It was so unworthy of the cost for food made by kids in the back. The server was very friendly, I can go on about the other meals at the table but its just not worth it. Too bad . We used to go there for special occasions.

Absolutely delicious food. We were so impressed with the service and friendly staff. The food was fresh and filled with flavour. It reminded us of our vacation in Italy. What a wonderful little gem in the heart of Welland. Definitely going back!

This is one of those restaurants that is an absolute must if youre ever in the Welland area. Every single staff member is amazing, both in personality and their cooking. Both Matt and Lisa are phenomenal people to meet and have to assist in your dining experience, and if youre ever looking for an authentic Italian dining experience, this is the place to visit. Truly a gem.I had the Caesar salad, baked prosciutto to start. Followed up with a Marguerita pizza (best Ive ever hadand Linguini Pescatore (shrimp, mussels, scallops in a tomato based pastashared between the my partner and I. Finished off with a Phyllo Cheesecake which Ive never experienced until my visit and was an amazing dessert to finish the dining experience. Came with caramel (which I normally dont likebut it made me rethink my feelings about caramel.Thank you Lisa and Matt, you both made this experience wonderful in more ways than one.

It was my first time at Matteo’s. Brought my parents and boyfriend for dinner. The service was exceptional, friendly staff, warm ambiance. The food was simply amazing and mouth watering. I cannot wait to come back next week. This is a gem for the Niagara region. Thank you very much to everyone.

My husband & I made a last minute decision to go somewhere local for dinner on a busy Friday night. When we walked up we were worried there wouldnt be a seat available for us. They made space for us & took care of us. They even started us off with some tasty appetizers, which were amazing. Our food was fabulous, my husband got the Atomic Pizza which was full of flavour & so yummy. I ordered the Chicken Milano which was cooked perfectly, and the vegetables on the side were all tasty as well and cooked just right. Thanks for a great meal ☺️

Today was my first time eating at Matteos. I had 🍝 carbonara with chicken. The dish was delicious and the service was great. Friendly attentive staff and the chef and owner checked on us. Ill be back!

This place is spectacular, from the owner and his sister to the food, everything was a 10/10, very warm and welcoming feeling. It was our first time there, our daughter recently moved to Welland, she took us to Matteos and we were very glade she did.Thank you to all the staff.

It was my first time visiting the restaurant. We were graciously greeted by the owner, and both he and his staff sought to ensure we were comfortable. Food was excellent and was of a high quality. Thanks again for a most excellent evening. I would definitely recommend!

Ordered takeout on Friday night; had to wait 10-15m however, I was acknowledged and re-assured that my order would be finished soon. For the time being, I was offered a small glass of wine to enjoy while I waited and was thanked endlessly for my patience.Fantastic service; other restaurants have a thing or two to learn from Matteos!

This place has a personal atmosphere. The service was above and beyond great. Such friendly owner and employees. Our waitress was amazing. And to top off the evening the food was absolutely delicious and fresh. We drove 40 minutes to get there and will do it again without question.

A friend recommended this place when I wanted to try somewhere new. Im happy she did! It was just me and my husband. I ordered the salmon and he had the veal parmesan. We were both totally pleased! The staff is very pleasant The owner did stop to ask if we are OK with everything which is nice.Quite a quaint place. The only downfall is I guess the design? Material? Im not sure but we found it noisy to hear each other. We still want to come back and try the stone oven pizza. My friend said it was the best shes had. Thanks for not disappointing us. 😋

All we can say is wow! We’ve been craving a wood oven pizza and we’re so happy we chose this restaurant! Perfect amount of toppings, a nice sauce- not too sweet! Full of flavour! Worth the wait! Thanks! We will be back!

This place was spectacular! The owner was there and greeted us, and was so kind to thank us for coming on our way out. For average looking city folk like myself and my partner that really stood out, shows he cares about his customers and makes us want to come back! The food was the freshest Italian cuisine weve ever had! Caprese salad is a must! We will definitely be back the next time we are in Welland. Thanks for the delicious food and excellent service!

Matteos is one of the best Italian restaurants Ive been to! They carry the Italian spirit in their food and hospitality with everything being made from scratch! Great prices too, especially for the quality!

Something beyond delicious, it was! And that too right in the heart of the town! Definitely coming again! And yes the hostess were all smiles and welcoming. Now thats called real and authentic Italian experience!

My boyfriend and I visited Matteos last night and we were so very happy! It was an absolutely beautiful outdoor setup; romantic lighting, beautiful view, etc. We were served by Matteo himself and he was extremely kind and inviting. He gave us great advice on the menu, and specials they were having that day. We ordered a bottle of the Santome Pinot Grigio and it was spectacular! We had the baked prosciutto and trappanese pizza to start (took half home because we wanted to try more food!). I had the beet gnocchi and my boyfriend had the veal parmesan. Everything is made to order, which makes the food especially fresh when you receive it. The beet gnocchi was honestly the best gnocchi I have ever had. Light, pillowy, and paired with a delicious alfredo sauce. PLEASE go to Matteos, especially now. If you are apprehensive about sitting at a restaurant right now, please order take away. PLEASE support this beautiful local business, they deserve it! We will be coming back again and again.

Amazing service, great staff. Everyone was very inviting and so kind and caring too! Made sure everything was perfect for our dinner to go. My husband had the spaghetti and meatballs and I ordered their fettuccine alfredo... words cannot even begin to describe the mouth-gasm we both had while eating these incredibly delicious dishes!My fettuccine was the freshest pasta Ive ever had... and the sauce?? To die for!! It was soo rich and creamy, by far the best Ive ever had from any restaurant Ive ever been to in all my years of dining out!Kudos to the amazing chef, who also makes the most cheesecake, in house, wrapped in a flaky pastry sheet and topped with the most amazing handmade caramel sauce Ive ever tasted amd garnished with fresh locally sourced strawberries!My husband had the chocolate cake, which was the perfect blend of light and fluffy and just the right amount of sweet. It was so delicious we cleaned our plates spotless!If you havent been here yet for one of their amazing meals... you definitely need to make a point of stopping in to dine inside or out on their patio! Or you can place a take out order to bring heaven in a dish with you wherever you may go!

I could die for those gnocchis!! The owner is such a great chef and his wife and him are amazing host ! Everything on the menu is just perfect ! Portions are big and prices are very cheap compared to the high quality of the food.

Weekend mornings is Matinas At Matteos! Its a pop up breakfast/brunch restaurant. Amazing food at reasonable prices! Upscale menu and amazing weekly specials. Today was Banana Bread French Toast!
