Beautiful places, great cocktails!Very nice the people inside who suggest us a couple of cocktails.

Cozy and friendly, can recommend to try a Margarita.

The owner seemed quite friendly but the cocktails were really not good at all. The ambience is also very awkward. I have no idea why this place has such positive reviews.

If you are a cocktail lover, you would be remiss without a stop at Matiz Pombalina during your time in Lisbon. The owner - Manuel - is a phenomenal host and will make you feel instantly welcome. I’d describe the atmosphere as akin to a private member’s club, with grand, beautiful interiors and the most incredible selection of spirits and cocktails, just nestled within an otherwise quiet street of old Lisbon. It’s been my go-to every time I’m back home in Lisbon. Don’t miss it!

A fabulous bar in the heart of Lapa, round the corner from the French embassy, laid out in several rooms with couches and lounge chairs in a house (ring the bell to go inwith an open air quadrangle in the back. The owner has been running the place for well over a decade. Go either for a pre-dinner cocktail as a meeting point, or finish your night here. Jazz.

Well prepared cocktails with attention to details and garnishes. Nice, cosy environment. Friendly barkeep. More pricey than typical neighborhood cocktail, although prices seemed about right for drinks with premium mixers and fresh herb and fruit garnishes.

A great cosy cocktail bar! We went there for a workshop on cocktail making. The owner, Manuel, and its staff offered a perfect service including a bit of history, styles and practice. All mixed with a nice hint of humour. Vibe and experience was on point and I highly recommend the place for a jazzy evening.

An excellent Cocktailbar with great interior and music selections that will remind you of a 40s cocktail lounge, even if you never seen one. But this bar is special in so many more ways.You should not expect the classic cocktails offeres since the owner has his own creations with years of experience. He is dedicated to flavours that match perfectly with the liquor you choose as a main basis for your drinks.The owner will make every single drink himself with unmatched passion. He will also not shy away to find out what you personally like and tries to match the cocktail to yout taste.But fear not - if you just ask, he will happily make every classic cocktail for you aswell 😌

Visited only just after reopening and it was deserted. Has a classy feel, and lovely architecture. Drinks are a bit disappointing though. It is no Klandestino or Red Frog.

Its not often that Ill drop a cocktail bar review because I frequent quite a few when Im traveling and love a place with wonderful drinks and an interesting atmosphere. Matiz doesnt disappoint in any category.From a variety of whiskeys, gins, rums, and tequila, with a lot of imported specialities that you would other wise not find, its absolutely worth the trip. The owner was great to talk with and even showed me how he makes the flavored sugar for their spin on an old fashioned.With jazz music and alternatives of well known songs playing, comfortable lounging and fun decor, this is definitely a place that you shouldnt miss.

Mouse-watering cocktails complemented by the authentic atmosphere of the bar (which actually looks more as a first-class restaurantand attentive owner whom it was a pleasure to speak with.Definitely recommend!

Amazing cocktails with a cute chic romantic atmosphere!! You won’t be disappointed

According to the recommendations that I found on the internet, and also due a friend’s recommendation we decided to try it. It’s important to say that in the city it’s very difficult finding places like this, so when we found it we were very excited to go. After a nice dinner we arrived and fortunately we found a nice table because it was early and the had only 2 other clients. As soon as we arrived I mentioned the Zomato gold‘s code and also I offered to give it to the employee but he said the owner would be notified when I activate it. After that we ordered and they kindly started to serving us. Both the owner and the waiter were extremely professional and helpful, the owner started talking to us about some whiskey facts and other interesting information related to subject, additionally he even offered us a whiskey tasting session with an expert from Scotland, we were amazed and considered it as a nice gesture of them. Overall was a perfect evening until we had to pay. Because of the lack of communication between the owner and the waiter he was not aware that we activated the Zomato gold. The thing was, the owner first told me that was my mistake and that I activated late when it wasn’t the case, then he told me he didn’t receive the confirmation which is not my fault. I showed him my phone with the code and time of activation and when but he kept on insisting that it was my fault. I also reported to Zomato but as it was too late and they were not able to help me. At the end the owner accepted our code and threw the ATM machine at us and told us in a very disrespectful and ironic way to pay whatever we wanted. The whole amazing experience was destroyed in one sec for something that it wasn’t even our fault. For things like this they lost a potential regular clients. However we wish them the best of luck and we hope from now on they organize them internally better to avoid this unpleasant situations.

Very nice drinks in a very nice setting. Prices are steep though. minimum 10 euro a drink but often 12-13 for one normal size/strength cocktail.

Terrific. Great setting, decor, ambiance, and music. Wayback jazz vibes. Cute small outdoor back room. Great host, who I presume is the owner. Friendly, helpful, and lends himself to the place’s charm. Cocktails were very good.

Love this place! Great neighborhood bar- we stumbled upon it as it was close to our Air BnB. We loved the decor- feels dapper! Talked with owner about Portugal while sipping on our gin cocktails. Romantic but feels like it could be a fun group location as well with the layout. Nice selection of bottles.

This review is long overdue as I visited with a friend in April. We arrived at end of the night and the owner was kind enough to stay past closing and was amazing to chat with. I asked if he could only have one drink which would it be - he pulled down an 25 year old aged rum and had it with us - incredible experience.If in Lisbon definitely visit Matiz!!

A lovely place run by nice people. They are very knowledgeable of the drinks they present, explaining as they pour. The prices are a bit high, but its worth it.

Its a great bar, craft cocktails and a very knowledgeable bartender. The own takes pride in hand choosing his alcohol served, some of the bottles youve never heard of but they are all very fine. Ring the doorbell and head on in. You pay for what you get at this bar and the prices are fair for the quality

Happened upon this little gem of a cocktail bar by chance. Absolutely gorgeous, old world surrounds. Very kind and attentive bar man, extremely helpful and knowledgeable about drinks and cocktails. Highly recommend to anyone in the neighbourhood.

Very good cocktail bar in Lisbon. Nicely located and the interior is also very cosy. The staff is very nice and u can have a nice chat with them. The cocktails are amazing and they are very helpful finding you the right one. Cocktails up from 10 Euros but it is very much worth it.

Loved this place. We didnt know what to order, so they custom made us cocktails after asking our likes and dislikes and it was perfect. We had essentially a white Russian and an old fashioned. Both lovely. Staff were very attentive and cocktails priced €9 each.

Lovely little place located a bit out of the main through. The owner (or bar keep?is fluent in English (and maybe French), and is very knowledgable. He custom made our drinks for us to our liking. The place is quite and chairs are all very cozy. Highly recommended for a nice chat over a drink.

Always a pleasure going here for drinks and nice ambience. Sometimes calm, sometimes really busy but always great service and excellent drinks. This is no ordinary bar.

This place has class, charm and a good vibe, all without trying to have any of it. It just does. With its living room style little corners to sit (it is located in a building that is probably 150 years, they made good use of the small spaces), It is a relaxing, out of the way place, with some good jazz music in the background, pleasant living room like corners to sit and actually talk to people. The staff is friendly and the owner goes around talking to people and offering some suggestions. I took his and ended up drinking something I generally do not drink (an excellent rum aged in cognac casks, a tad sweet but rather pleasant), while my friends, who live around the corner, also took his advice and tried something new. I am definitively going to make sure that whenever I am in Lisbon I am going to stop by for a quiet drink with friends. In a world filled with noise of all sorts, this bar offers a much welcomed alternative. Ring the bell if the door is closed :-)

I love this bar!It is a recent bar, you wouldnt expect much history, but then again it has a decor that makes it so full of character. It is a lovely space.Excellent cocktails. The professionals are very nice and always make you feel welcome.You cant smoke inside the bar, but there is an open area on the back for smokers. A little terrace.The bar also has a tuk tuk service that will pick you in the near by area and take you to the bar, no cost. If you travel by car, I advise you to leave your car by Largo Vitorino Damásio on the subterranean park, and then call the bar and they will shortly pick you up. They will also take you back to your car, but confirm the drivers schedule.
