Matildas Vung Tau - Pub in Tan An, Vietnam
Excellent place for food and drinks. Highly recommend.
Matildas restaurant is very nice place and very nice food. The boss and all staffs here are very friendly with customers , they are always smile and welcome customers come to enjoy food and drink .Especial foods in restaurant are very fresh and delicious.
Big breakfast,ok ok.Good service and very nice stafs.
Went to a friends dads 83rd birthday at Matildas .Had a lot of fun...
Not only they served spoiled whipped cream but they also didn’t take any blame for it. Instead they replied to my comment saying that I ate a half of the meal 😮 which is totally crazy And nobody ever apologised for what happened, not even once!!! Like it is normal and nothing really special to serve spoiled dairy products in a restaurant!!! I’m so shocked 😳 Dear restaurant owner and their manager please review rules and responsibilities that apply to hospitality organisations like restaurants as food producers. Make sure you strictly follow up on freshness of your food and keep your kitchen under strict monitoring! What if I had food poisoning from that? And the only you have to say is that I ate the food? And the customer is someone who you should blame?P.S. 1. I didn’t eat half of the cream. I called the waitress immediately after tasting the cream, from the first spoon. 2. I ate fruits that were around 3. I cut only 1/12 of the pancakes and tasted it. That’s all. 4. I expected you 1. apologise, 2. Ask me what I want to have instead or what you can do to make up for serving spoiled dairy 3. At least bring me new set of pancakes
I dont know what to say, this time I chose grilled ocean tuna, its amazing, the taste is fresh, the drink is also good, I choose 5 stars
They have very nice rice & chicken dish. My kid loves it.
Nice food, good service! Highly recommend!!!
I visited Matildas twice, and, on both occasions, ate western food (which appears to be their specialty). Its a quiet place in a quiet part of Vũng Tàu to chat, relax, have a meal, and a few drinks.
I had breakfast here this morning great service.. and i rate it 5 stare... cheers
I went here recently for breakfast. There were two of us and we had the Big Breakfast and the American breakfast, both were great. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the place was comfortable with a good view of the street for people watching. My only criticism would be for the owners to invest in a real coffee machine, as the option of a cappuccino would have been perfect. However, that being said we will be back another time to enjoy the delicious breakfasts.
Nice place, friendly people, good atmosphere and most of all very nice food served.
Ms. Linh and the new Chefs are doing a consistent job in creating new cuisine items such as smoked goose breast, steak, ribs, Norwegian salmon as well as deserts. The traditional items are still popular favourites as well from the various breakfast selections, burgers and the colossal club sandwich. Matilda’s also has increased its selection of Vietnamese dishes. The laid back atmosphere with pleasant jazz is the ideal combination for your visit! Great job, on holding the old and moving on with the new.
Nice and relaxed with friendly staff on hand. Breakfast is a must try when visiting this place. Seating area is comfortable with plenty of salty fresh air blowing in from the beach down the road.
A good place for a decent American style breakfast in Vung Tau.
Great club sandwich. Friendly owner. Very comfy and quiet
Nice atmosphere here to enjoy the food. Cheers🍻
The food is cheap and delicious! High cost performance in tourist areas! Very recommended for brunch!👍
We enjoyed eating here, amazing selection of comfort Western food as well as Vietnamese options. The food was fresh and delicious, the owner and the staff were professional and friendly. Wide selection of drinks too, very happy. Will visit again next time Im in Vung Tau...
Nice pub, owner is nice and has a good english level. Prices are very affordable.
Good stop off after some cycling. Friendly staff, good service and that western food fix you sometimes need. Thanks guys!
I heard a lot about the place, so I decide to visit this morning. Maybe my expectations were a bit high, but I left feeling underwhelmed—which is fine, I guess. I ordered the quesadilla. It is prepared just as its mentioned on the menu: chicken, cheese, and tortilla. Very bland, no onions, peppers, seasoning, etc. It comes with a pico de gallo (also bland). No sour cream, guacamole, etc. I guess its made for the British palate because this definitely wasnt Canadian, Mexican, or Tex-Mex. Brits arent known for their cuisine! Service was blah. I felt the waitresses only catered to the older guys—which is fine, I guess. Funny, I do plan to return someday to give it another shot. The menu is varied, and it has a lot of things that I would see back home. Maybe this was an off day🤔
Awesome food and staff. Prices are appropriate. Ron the boss is great as well. They will deliver at your place. Big screen tvs. Most of the crew speaks English. Dont miss this place. Best in town !
A good cuisine, a friendly host.
I have always had good service and very good food. The staff are friendly and helpful. The owners are helpful and friendly and go out of their way to help with any problems that may arise.
Great food & service. A l9vely big breakfast at a very good price. I shall visit again when in Vung Tau.
Great breakfast, but I was hoping for real sausages, not the hot dog style.
Im not what you would call a big "burger person", but upon recommendation from the owner I tried the Bleu Cheese Burger for lunch and was thoroughly satisfied! My girlfriend had the Black Pepper Beef and that was also very good. But, to top everything off... My girlfriend left her ID at our hotel and we were in a rush, so the restaurant sent one of the security to the hotel to pick up her ID and deliver it so that we could enjoy our lunch.I love when businesses have attention to detail and customer service. Matildas is one of those places.Highly recommended!!
We came here mainly for the high rating on Tripadvisor and a hankering for western food and ordered the fish and chips and a Yankee burger. Both were fine but nothing spectacular - pretty average, actually. Perhaps this is a good restaurant by Vung Tau standards but we didnt find it particularly impressive. The beverages were ice cold, though, and that was nice! Value was only fair - our meal, which also included two beverages, came out to about $15.I had reviewed this place on another site and the owner responded with the following: "You arent always going to find the standards of home, wherever that may be. Didnt you think that having burgers and chips in ASIA was pretty special?" Had I been able to leave a response, I would have said that Ive lived in Asia for the past 15 years and have had the pleasure of enjoying many restaurant meals that were "oh wow!" special. At least they admitted that their standards arent those of home...
WOW what can i say we landed in Vung Tau and did not know anything about the area, however had been told about Matildas ( an Austaralian x/pat owened bar and restaurantWe as a group found the bar to be everything we expected a lot of friendly faces and willing to help and accomadate our needs, close to the beach, shops and much more, I highly recommend putting this on your Vung Tau trip
Tasty european food, interesting visitors and... owners allow you to smoke inside. God bless the Queen!=)
Seriously the best burger in town! Look no further on your search for some great food because Matilda’s offers it ALL! ❤️ tasty, incredible and all round awesome!
Loved the atmosphere and proximity to the front beach. Great western food. Ownership has changed recently but the menu, service and food quality hasnt changed. Theres a cute little hotel behind the place about a block down. Lotus Apartment Hotel.
The food here is amazing. Really good cooked breakfast at good prices for western food. The staff are also very nice and it has sport on regularly, if thats what youre into.
The food and staff are the highlights of Matildas. The breakfast was one of the best Ive had in the year Ive been in Vietnam. Unfortunately the regular patrons are not as enjoyable a sight. My wife felt it was a bit creepy that so many older men frequent it but obviously Matildas needs to look after there bread and butter of regulars which I understand completely. I would not come back again though to be honest but it is a must as a stop for some good old fashioned home cooked food of you are visiting for a few days.
Nice quiet place to watch the game one of state of origin, nice polite girls behind the bar and down a nice quiet street. Perfect for me, I didnt order one but the meals that were served to patrons looked good to 👍👍
nice place to spend your free time. food is good. the owner however made no effort to acknowledge us ,yet she spoke to everyone else. just a simple greeting would have been nice.
Really nice place. Awesome live music with great singers. There was a restricted menu because of the tet but they made me a marvelous vegetarian-cheese burger 🍔
Excellent food (western fair. Seriously. Try the french toast and eggs benefict). Excellent prices. Great vibe. No western style coffee though but the Vietnamese coffee is super smooth and delish. We went to Vung Tau for 4 days and basically ate every meal here. It was that good.
Monday morning 9 am june 25 2018.I went in for breakfast. It was good. However :I asked for two eggs over easy egg whites only and the girl told me I will have very little eggs so for 50k extra she could give me another egg white. 50k for an egg white !!!!!She does not know I live in Vietnam. and i know that 10 eggs at the supermarket costs 20k.so I find that dishonest. (UPDATE)It is 100% possible that I did not understand her English, after all we are in Vietnam. I will give her the benefit of the doubt.And.....9 in the morning on Monday morning I dont think it is appropriate to have rap music on loudly in the restaurant. I dont want to hear ( i removed the swear words that early in the morning. Do you ????And i left her a small tip.Im writing this because I hoping the management will make some adjustments.the girls were very nice very friendly and the place is nice.
Visited Matildas for breakfast & definitely wasnt disappointed.Has the egg muffin sandwich with potato fritters - both delicious. They serve a good English tea as well, which is always a bonus! The muffins were homemade and tasted amazing (and a hell of a lot tastier than the rival of McDonalds!!!). Everything was perfect. The staff were great & the service spot on. Got the chance to spend the with Molly (the ownerand she is a lovely lady, who also does a lot of charity work - if you get the chance please talk to her about it & find out the amazing work that is achieved. The whole of the menu sounded tasty & other food coming out around us looked great. Unfortunately I didnt have long enough in Vung Tau to visit again, but itll be the first stop on my next visit.
Lovely place to spend an afternoon. I stopped by for a late lunch and had a wonderful western burger. Sat at the railing and enjoyed a book and a great meal The people were very welcoming (I could overhear the owner discussing a charity event that they were planning). Very comfortable and the food was terrific. The other nice thing was that there werent a lot of cars and trucks on the road outside so the air quality was good!
Great bar. Menu tops. Staff on the ball.
Great place, excellent service (with good Englishand very good burgers (was surprised!). Clean toilets with paper, soap and even clean towels to dry your hands! A little pricey - the only reason not to give a 5. Pricey meaning 120/135 thousand for burgers and I think 90 for some rice dishes, so it is just a little more expensive than some other places. Worth it though.
Great selection of American pub food and awesome mixes drinks. Some of the most authentic chicken wings in Vietnam. Really nice and friendly service and a calm, relaxing space off the main hustle and bustle of the beach.
Burger was tasty but ask for the sauce aside. Mine was literally drowning in sauce... Lots of Aussie there. The place is nice and staff speaks good English. Try it for a change from Vietnamese food. A little pricey though but portions are ok.
Had a very good noodle soup together with an ice cold Corona. On top very friendly staff. The reason why I dont give 5 stars is that the clientele can be a bit noisy
Decent burger and burrito. Portions a bit small. Good location and good service. The restaurant is involved with charity work such as donating bicycles and education expenses to local children.
Good food and good beer. Had a table inside. Burgers are excellent. Pizza too. The apple pie was cold and should have been hot. But maybe that is the design. Would go again if i am in the area.
5 Stars are not enough. Cold beer, good drinks, great food and even better people. This place is worth the 27 hours of flying it takes to get there every time. Cant wait to make it back!
