First time dining at Mateus. They have a variety of options for dinner & lunch, large portions, very reasonably priced. Authentic cuisine & comfortable atmosphere.

I felt bad for my sister as she is legit to shellfish and most of thir dishes had shellfish, even though we didnt order those dishes she is allergic to the smell of it as well. The food we had though was good. There was also this annoying fly that kept flying in on us.

I had oyster which was really good! And then I also had the sirloin steak with shrimps. The price is good and not overpriced like all those other restaurants. We loved everything! I can totally recommend this place

This place has such a nice staff and great food. I love the food. The best dish is the Paella so good. We didnt have the dessert because we were to full. Next time. lol

Service by Sophia and Diego was excelent, had halibut steak with spinach and was cooked to perfection... huge wine selection of portuguese wines not found anywhere.

Came here to celebrate my son’s birthday. It was a family affair. The food was good and our waiter/waitress was very nice and friendly. I looked at the reviews from years ago, the place looked clean so I think they corrected those issues.

I live here since 2008 first time I’ve ate here. It was delicious the fishermen platter special $22 . Money we’ll spend.It was enough 4 2 people. My son help me finish it. It was fresh. My guy couldn’t finish . We will be back.

Cozy place and delicious food! Huge variety of seafood and fish for any taste! Lots of different meet! Delicious desserts! And the stuff that is very friendly and makes you feel so welcome! The prices are very affordable!Loved everything about that restaurant! Highly recommed it to everybody!

This is our place to go. We love their food and the friendly service. They always have specials that you dont really find too often and those are my husbands favorites. We always go on wednesday and Melesa and Diego are great. Thank you Mateus family

Poor service waited forever for another drink and yo order my meal, I had to get up and walk to the bar to tell them I’ve been waiting. The lobster had absolutely no tasteNever again - save your money

Food is great. Atmosphere is relaxing. Blue Martini was tasty. Not too strong.....had the stuff shrimp and stuff mushrooms. My daughter had sphagetti and meat balls on the kids menu and it comes with a fountain drink and dessert ice cream. I would actually go again.

Let me say I live not that for away and this restaurant has been open for yrs and yrs. There a reason for that; the menu is huge. If you are going in not know what you want. They will have it, seriously they made a blt hero for my son while I had a steak and lobster. Where you gonna get that it? Food was cooked perfect with a clean and friendly atmosphere. I will be back

Several people recommended this restaurant and I decided to treat myself to a New Years eve dinner. I ordered paella and was very happy with my decision. It was perfectly seasoned and a generous serving. I will definitely order again and look forward to sitting down and sampling several dishes!

I really enjoyed the food here. We started off with the Portuguese sausage. It was very tasty. I had the Paelha Valenciana Entree which had tons of seafood and chicken and beef. The entree was great and huge. My husband had the grilled tuna which he really liked. For dessert I had chocolate mousse. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. The servers were nice and the 25% cash back from Groupon is nice.

This was an amazing experience. Ok Covid was a concern but they took my temp and it was normal. We were the only ones eating dinner as it was only 3pm. The wait staff is really friendly and nice and very helpful. I ordered unsweatened Ice Tea and they brought a fresh picture... very thoughtful. I had lobster Bisque which was so tasty with lobster pieces in it. I also had Grilled Octopus and that was amazing. Cannot tell you how delicious the sauce was. Then had a very fresh salad. For the Main dish I had Grilled Lamb Chops with a sauce that had a hint of cheese. After being completely blown away by the food, my friend ordered expresso and dessert, Creme Brulee.. Besides having a sugar high... I was in food heaven. You know I needed this. I also tasted one of their Oysters and several pieces of Lobster in a spicy red sauce. What a Meal... They are on instagram with a new menu every day an the food is delivered hot. Beautiful time much appreciated. Thank you so much

we always order food from Mateus restaurant now during quarantine, the food is always very good, the amount of the portions are generous and amazing food quality.I suggest their cod platters, mix bbq and to whoever likes liver, according to my husband, tastes like homemade.Our experience with Mateus Restaurant is always very pleasant and surprising, they never fail to amaze us with their good food.Special shout out to Sofia who always do her best to accommodate our requests and makes all easier to have the best food delivered on time.

We ordered via DoorDash last night. Our dishes came nicely packed and at good temperature. Our appetizers - steamed clams were delicious and excellent flavors; steamed mussels were spicy nevertheless edible; seafood paella for two was delicious - the seafood was fresh and the portion was hearty (will definitely get this again); the steak was medium-well although we ordered medium, nevertheless it was good. I can’t wait to dine in when we are done with COVID19. Thanks to the owner for staying open and providing delicious food to the community.

My grandpa, Frank Allen frequented this place regularly when I was a kid. When my grandma passed, they were the only ones I trusted to cater after her funeral. They were genuine and compassionate. This family owned business should be supported by all!!!! Their food is AMAZING and their hospitality makes you feel like you are home. Thank you for being such a huge part of my childhood and getting me through the toughest parts of adulthood!!!!

Bad experience with a bias waiter. Whom didnt want our waitress to serve us but to serve someone else first.I WILL NEVER GO BACK.Perhaps our $300 dollar tab was not good enough for them. Because when I complained to the owner he didn’t seem to care.Good food. But ....you have been warned .

Poor customer service! We’re very disappointed!On Monday night When we arrived the restaurant was empty and waitress had attitude about not making reservations for 4 of us. She looked like she was having personal problems and she was treating it as our fault. We ordered 3 pitchers of sangria and each was different. Every time she passed our table, she would push our chair showing frustration.. Good thing we check our bill. Because she added tip . We’ll not go back and we’ll tell our friends about this horrible customer service.

Mateus has never let me down. My first encounter was with Sophia, the owners daughter when my husband and I had our wedding reception. When we walked through the door Sophia went beyond and blew EVERYONE away! Dealing with her brought us back for our birthday and we intend on being there for our wedding anniversary each year. I was there for my birthday last night and service AND food was still top class!<

This is the best Portuguese Restaurant that Ive had in New York. Not only were the waitresses friendly and helpful, the food was fantastic. I went there thinking that it was going to be adequate tasting but I was pleasantly surprised. It was delicious. I will DEFINITELY be eating there again and again.

She was very polite and friendly and down to earth. She even recommended something I would never try, but promised me it would be amazingly delicious and delightful to my taste buds. So I took her advice and ate the dish that she recommended! To my surprise my mouth salivatedand exploded with extremely intense and wonderful AUTHENTIC Portuguese flavors! The meal was cooked to perfection! Juicy and succulent and oozed personality in the form of graceful plate presentation.It truly delivered a taste like no other and cleansed my pallet of previous tastes that can longer match what they brought to the table... I highly recommend Mateus Restaurant to anyone that wants to have a taste of Heaven in their mouth!You wont regret it! A Michelin Star is truly deserved!

The reviews are true! The food was amazing, We ordered beef ribs, egg plant parmesan , fried calamari, wings, lobster ravioli, grilled octopus. Everything was great. Our host Maria was amazing!!! If we didnt live out of state this would be a great place to visit again.

I just ordered form here today! They came really fast and the food was delicious. Its one of the better places available for this neighborhood so Im really excited. I got the paella, and it was MASSIVE. Love! The only thing that took off a star was price, they serve mainly meat and fish dishes so it was a little pricey. Will order again though!!
