Mass Audubon Canoe Meadows Wildlife Sanctuary - Wildlife Refuge in Hancock, United States
I went there yesterday and couldn’t get into the meadows because it was raining. We just took couple of pictures and ran into the car. I’m sure it’s a nice place to go and have some time in the nature away from the city life if it wasn’t raining.
Serene and easily walkable. Multiple walking options. Saw a doe in the woods, herons, and it is a nice relaxing place to walk.
Wonderful place to bird watch and take in the sights and sounds of nature. Very quiet, the people who come here are pleasant and respectful. You can see deer, beavers, rabbits, butterflies, and many different bird species.Very close to the city but it certainly doesnt feel like it!A fantastic spot for a nice nature walk.
Great place for a quiet walk. Use bug spray. Ticks might be present. Lots of birds. Nice breeze as you walk
Peaceful place to talk a nice walk surrounded by nature. Trails are well marked, and maintained.
Very beautiful close in town lil duck-off spot to let yur younglings nd pets run..Theirs a entrance for canoes if some1 knows how to contact whoever to re place more of those papers yull need to put on yur windshield.its occupied by a birds nest that if removed nd the right credentials can make it to that spot so my vehicle doesnt get towed due to having a canoe on river without a sticker..ill give it 5 stars fully.Other than that i enjoy that park.
Great place to spend the afternoon walking the trails
Nice hike through nature. Different trails to follow.
Very peaceful. Beautiful walk
Great place for a casual cross country ski outing!
Was fun. Very icy though. Definitely use cleats during winter.
easy clean flat trails.. unfortunately dogs or bikes are frowned upon. GREAT PLACE IF YOU LOVE BIRD WATCHING!
This hiking trail is a hidden gem and seems underrated. We visited during christmas and pathway was snow filled. There is a little pond where you can find beautiful ducks.Don’t miss out if you are nearby
Nice walking area
Wonderful..."Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Natures peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn."John Muir, The Mountains of California
BRING BUG SPRAY, this turned into a very fast visit since the air was still and if you stopped moving, the mosquitoes were out in abundance. Large open field that had a bridge over a pond then wooded paths that passed a stream.
Dont forget your bug spray😱 great trails but absolutely got eaten alive!
Would be a lot nicer but mosquitos everywhere. Be aware. We had repellant but it was not enjoyable. Bring netting if you have it. Long pants.
Nice easy walk with beautiful views. Entrance can be easy to drive by, so be ready to turn. Definitely bring bug spray for the mosquitoes during warm weather, and boots if it has rained recently for the mud. Tons of animals and plants to see if you are quiet.
Very pretty, easy to find, but the mosquitoes were BAD and we had forgotten bug spray so we ended up running back to the car after not too long. I would try it again in the fall though. We went at the end of July.
I walked and cross country skied here for many years when I lived in Pittsfield. A beautiful place to visit! The observation shack in the middle of the marsh is now gone. I always enjoyed looking out from it.
My first experience here was almost a year ago, so I’ve had the opportunity to experience it through the seasons. It is a lovely, flat nature preserve that is used for hiking/walking, or snowshoeing and cross country skiing in the winter. It can get pretty busy with XC skiers when the snow/weather is nice. It is family friendly all year long. The parking lot is small so it can fill up quickly.
A gem of a park. A small, beautiful place in the middle of a city. We walked on its paths through deep snow, among snow shoers and cross-country skiers. You could hear the birds, and even the stream. I look forward to running there in the summer.
Beautiful nature trails, not a ton of parking though!
Wonderful place to snowshoe.
Lovely place for a walk. Beautiful pine forest, marshes and some beaver dams. This one is on rotation on my hiking list.
Parking lot small, but place is fairly big. Despite lot being full I didnt see a soul. Have seen beaver, muskrat, coydog (not recently), deer, turkey and many bird species. There have been bear sightings, though I have never encountered any. The Audubon Society asks for a small donation.
Easy hike along river and through woods
Beautiful autumn colors. Tranquil. Kids friendly.
We enjoyed an extremely peaceful walk along Sacred Way Trail. The sounds of this wildlife sanctuary were wonderful. The woodpecker pecking was great to hear. But then my wife met her match when she saw a snake slide across the bridge we were crossing. So we had to retreat and take the crossover trail and head back.
Easy hiking and definite opportunities to witness wildlife. Some of the trails could have been a bit more well cared for and they seem to have removed the observation building due to the pandemic. But its definitely worth a visit.
Good for all ages. Well maintained and marked.
Absolutely beautiful and the perfect place for a first date, the trail and fields are well kept and the water shines like that of fairytales truly a lovely sight to see
Nice trail network through both woods & fields. Variety of marsh views. Very quiet, only a few people on a July Saturday. Well maintained except for short driveway to parking which has some serious potholes.
Absolutely amazing! Only 4 stars because I cant take my dog, otherwise it would of been 6 stars.
Beautiful place to explore nature close to town. Just be sure to bring bug spray as it can get pretty buggy
It was an incredible morning weather was perfect and the trails were wonderful I had a great morning.
Hard to find beautiful hiking place. Stay away. I dont want to share it
Great views! Ive only been in fall but I cant wait to visit year round.
We went for a quick hike on our way from Lee to North Adams. it was a nice little wildlife area with some trails. We found a geocache while walking and saw some turtles. The loop trail is short and flat, which is what we were looking for because we didnt have a lot of time.
It was nice. Trails are clear. People seemed friendly .
Great as little hide a way in the middle of the city. Great spot for wildlife. Please leave our dogs at home.
Great place for a peaceful walk. Wear boots if weve had wet weather as it can be muddy and flooded in spots.
If it wasnt so buggy i would have given it 5 stars. We had to walk with our hands over our mouths to keep from breathing in mosquitoes. I was disappointed because it really is a beautiful place, but we were in such a hurry to escape the buzzing and biting that we werent able to enjoy it
Beautiful flatland trails with varied choices of paths to take. However be warned its almost all surrounded by marshes and swampy areas, so bring lots of bug repellent and water. That said it really is a gorgeous easy hike with rest benches scattered throughout :-)
Beautiful beautiful place. Wear waterproof shoes if it has rained recently period can be very muddy. Suggest they also put in a restroom.
Quiet and scenic. Also a pokéstop and gym for Pokémon Go players. No bathroom, no playground. Great place to walk, or bird watch.
Lovely place for going for a good walk. Lovely forest and trails. Good to connect with nature, clean your mind and breath. Such a relaxing place
Great place for short hike. Lots of birds and wildlife. Also a few great geocaches on the property!!
Its peaceful, its a nice place to just go fer a scenic walk on any of the trails throughout, also a great place to visit if you really love nature.
