Masala Indian Restaurant - Indian restaurant in Cascais, Portugal
Great food and service
They didnt serve me the dish i ordered, and when they came back with the chicken butter i ordered, it was very sweet. There was coconut Milk into but it was not specified on the menu. When the server came to ask if it is good, i answered that i didnt expected that sweet. He directly came back to the kitchen and i heard him badly speak about me. I will never come back.
Great Indian restaurant with a large choice. Great tasting food, fantastic service. Restaurant is busy so would be advisable to book ahead to prevent a wait.
Great dish, fast service good wine!
Very inauthentic and bland food. The service was not very nice and when we asked the waiter about our food after 45 min he was annoyed with us. The decoration in the restaurant was nice but there was throw away plastic tablecloths on every table… worst Indian place I’ve ever been to
Delicious Indian food. The staff are really nice and helpful, the menu is incredibly diverse and reasonably price. And the garlic naan was fantastic.
AMAZING FOOD! Wow, I recommand 100%. Service was really good!
Excellent food and drinks. Would have been good for the staff to agree to make masala chai considering the restaurant is built around masala and chefs seem authentic.
Excellent food, great service, lovely atmosphere, brilliant value. Very family friendly.
Amazing service. Amazing food. Gave us mango lassy. The chicken was unbelievably soft and perfectly cooked. Lovveeeeddddd ittttt
The food taste very good, but contact with personnel feels very hasty and impersonal. We know how to eat Indian food, but they dont give tips to other people how you can eat Indian food properly. Also we had a very bad heartburn after eating here. Normally never have that after eating Indian food.
Very delicious! Been there twice while our holiday. Was the best Restaurant during our 7 night stay in Cascais. Just enjoy
Really poor quality of food. I ordered the Makahani Paneer and it was liquid soup with 5 pieces of paneer and nothing else. For a veggie option, one would assume it included veggies, but it had literally none. The curry was overpoweringly sweet, the onion bahjii was more food colouring than taste and the naan was really really chewy. Overall I didnt have a good experience which is a shame because Ive seen so many positive reviews. Maybe the chef was off their game because honestly, it was inedible and I threw it all away which is ridiculous considering it was the most expensive curry Ive ever had. Really unhappy with my experience and will not be returning.
This Restaurant is the best in Caicais! The food is super delicious.
We ordered the lamb korma, butter chicken, plain rice and a garlic naan for 2 people, it was the perfect amount, and everything was delicious! Price was approx 35€ including 3 beers, excellent value. Highly recommend!
Overpriced and a very poor attempt at Indian/South Asian style food. They included only a single poppadom and it wasnt cooked properly. It was flat without bubbles. Sauces/dips were traffic light brightly coloured liquids that all just tasted of sugar rather than yogurt, mint etc. My meal included paneer, but it seemed a lot more like tofu. Bland, cold uncooked. I had some sheekh kebabs which the waiter assured me were made in house, but they looked and tasted like frozen factory made. Mains cost around €11 but are on the small side. A salad which should be included for free will cost a separate €6 With rice, nan, and a starter. A full meal will cost you around €30. A similar sized meal would be $15-$20 in typical Portuguese restaurant and have better fresher ingredients cooked with more care.
Probably the best indian food Ive ever had. (butter chicken and lamb bhuna). Also incredibly cheap (€29 for 2 people with drinks and starters). Would definitely go again.
Best Indian restaurant I have visited. Staff and service are excellent. Have visited this restaurant 3 times and every time the food has been excellent, starters and mains. It’s great value for money and a must if you are holidaying in Cascais.
We had the Sag Chicken, Butter Chicken and garlic Naan. The food was excellent. Especially the Sag Chicken. The waiter was kind and very attentive. We love curry and would highly recommend this spot.
We love Indian cuisine and this one was great. Amazing food and friendly staff. Chicken tikka masala was the best we have ever tasted.
Delicious food and very good service. We read the other positive reviews and decided to try this place. Very happy we did! Excellent!!!
If you are up for a curry, this place is the best in Cascais. Teji was wonderful serving us and the food was amazing. Ill definitely go back there.
I used to come here very often, food was always super nice and people very friendly. Until today unfortunately when they took away our plates when we were practically still eating and when we wanted to order coffee and chai after our food they just gave us the check and told us to get out. Very sad for a place I liked. Will have to start looking for a new Indian place where hospitality is put first.
Cozy restaurant with extremely delicious food and very nice staff, obrigada! Xx Norway
Delicious food, good staff and relaxed environment.
Excellent! Tasty dishes and great service, the staff is wonderful! Highly recomend! (I recomend making a reservation cause the place is always full)
Supposedly a high- rated Indian restaurant in Cascais and its far from serving authentic Indian food. After requesting several times to cook the food with less oil (and being assured of it), it came floating in a pool of oil and some dishes that were "medium spicy" were infact sweet. Also after eating, we felt very sick & nauseous so please do not consider this Indian food as good Indian food is nothing like what they serve here. If you want decent Indian food, go to Lisbon. There are some interesting restaurants in Lisbon, but avoid all Indian restaurants in Cascais.
I came to this place many times over last years, food was great, the terrace on a pedestrian street lovely. During covid we came to pick takeaway, proper Indian food, very happy with that.Seems that all good things end. Yesterday at lunch, all new waiters team, did not apply the usual lunch discount of 20%, no problem, I ask them to correct the bill. It comes back with a ridiculous 5 euro discount applied only on kids food. We paid and left. Will never come back. What was a good restaurant is now a tourist trap. When cheating starts, I am not subjecting my family to depend on these people, not knowing whether ingredients are fresh or higiene is proper.
My curry was cold. No way it was fresh and they didnt even heat it up correctly. Nan bread was thick and doughy.
Authentic and fine Indian Cuisine in Cascais. No language barriers. Highly recommended!
Great food, good flavours. The staff was accomodating, the manager/owner is the perfect host. The auroma outside the restaurant is special and compels you to come in and order food.
Really amazing Indian restaurant!!! Must be one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve ever eaten in in the whole world outside of India! Well done for the food and the service.
I would like to rate the service as well as food -100 . I had went in different type of Indian restaurant in Lisbon and the spices that should be included in the Indian food is missing. Great disappointment and I had before the dish Aaloo chat before and here it was like a loads of sugar with just tomatoes and onions. I asked waiter about it and they said you have to tell before. Every dishes has just sugar sugar . No any Indian spices at all .and the chicken curry is like a months old. Ewww I would not recommend this restaurant at all.
It was a very nice experience with friendly staff and the food was just on point. I asked them to make it extra hot and they understood the assignment. Overall amazing place. Would go again if I come back to Cascais :)
Yummy and loads of vegetarian options, really lovely staff and a nice atmosphere. It was very busy when we went and it was out of season so I recommend booking really, we probably just got lucky getting a seat! We had the vegetable korma, makhani paneer, saffron rice and garlic naan. It’s cheap here too which is a surprise given the quality!
The best authentic Indian restaurant my family and I have visited. Great flavours and service. I’d recommend trying the North Indian chilli Chicken as it was exceptional. Also very reasonably priced. (As as Indian, it’s hard to find authentic home cooked meals, but here it’s well achieved!)
Despite being on a busy tourist street in Cascais, this restaurant seemed authentic and the food was great. Bonus marks for the 20% lunch discount for being there before 3 pm. We had the chilli chicken, mango prawns, rice and naan and it was more than enough for two. With drinks this lunch cost 25 €
Food quality great.Staff friendly.Service somewhat slow!
The best place to get Indian food! Everything was delicious! Definitely listen to what the waiters are recommending. I took the mango ice cream and hated it.
one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve been to. Their garlic Naan is just impressive. I recommend their chicken tandoori and biryanis. Staff is also very friendly and kind!
One of my favorite restaurants in Portugal! Casual environment, very good food (I strongly recommend butter chicken). The service is good and the prices are affordable. Recommended!
We arrived on a hot day of summer, so you can imagine the struggle. The waiter was very friendly, fast and prompt, giddy even, the food was very good, everybody was pleased. The atmosphere was nice and the bathroom was clean.Totally recommend it if you ever get the chance!
Went there because of how “well rated” it was on google. We were pretty disappointed. (Before I start, I’ve been eating Indian food for 8 years now and have eaten in around 30 different Indian restaurants in over 5 different countries so I know a good Indian restaurant when I see one.)The meat dishes were wayyy to sweet, even though they put a candle under it, the meat was not warm enough. We ordered a cheese naan and a Pashwari naan (coconut, raisins and cashew). Really bad choice, thought it will be exotic but it tasted like pumpkin and was an orange thick texture. The cheese naan was pretty much grated cheese on top of a naan when it’s usually a really good melted cheese INSIDE it.The staff were nice though, even gave us “recommendations”. We appreciated that. It does get really crowded and loud, no AC on, tables are too close and not that much light only the front door.Metal cups are not such a great idea during the pandemic ;)
If I could rate a 0 star it will be perfect for this place. We had a beef with mango and a beef with caju and both of them were incredible sweet... very sweet, it was like eating a can of sugar with some beef. If I knew that the food was so sweet I would just picked another restaurant. The food is looking good but thats all, just looking cause tasting is... we had to balance the taste with some pringles after this experience.
It was inexpensive but definitely not authentic tasting Indian food. It wasn’t as flavorful as Indian food I’ve had but I suppose it was appealing to a tourist crowd.
I’m convinced that you will not get better Indian food anywhere else in Europe! Amazing food with awesome service - relaxed yet professional - at a reasonable price. We had the Mughlai Chicken, Lamb Tikka Masala and Lamb Madras - oh, and don’t forget the Butter Chicken! Vegetable Rice and garlic Naan Bread complimented the spicy, aromatic dishes beautifully. Loved it!
!!!!This is a typical tourist trap!!!If you are looking for a decent meal, start looking somewhere else! The naan bread I ordered was floppy to look at and sticky in the mouth. Curry was edable, but I doubt it was cooked with ghee, for there was an odd oily taste to it. The sauces came with the food were so bright (almost of fluorescent coloursthat I didnt even dare to taste. Cutlery left a metal smell on my hands (this never happened to me before!)I honestly dont believe the majority of the good reviews about this restaurant, especially the ones give 5 stars and one short sentence of lying. I give two stars because its location in town centre, the service was acceptable.
Great food! Great staff! We really enjoyed ourselves and our meal! The lamb khadai was so good!
Very good. We had the mixted starters for two, then the chicken korma and the saag paneer plus paratha and roti breads. The paneer was good, the chicken was excellent. I really wasnt expecting this good food for such reasonable prices in such a touristy neighborhood.
The food was excellent, spicy and tasty. The small score is taken by the staff, the waiter who begged 5 stars in the reviews, I think about 20 times, and the owner, who immediately after we finished eating made us discreetly sign to leave because they were out of 5 -6 people waiting for a table.Culinary, a pleasant experience, hospitality and politeness was disappointing.
