Mary Poppins House in Warwick
Description
Privilege
If as a child you loved Mary Poppins like I did, this was bucket list stuff ! The childhood home of the author PJ Travers ❤. A wonderful step back in time. Allora on the Darling Downs of Australia, well worth a visit.
MoreThis place is an absolute gem, especially if you get the tour with the owners. Great stories, wonderful history, well preserved. Please be aware, you cannot just turn up and expect them to be open, it is now by appointment only.
MoreVery interesting little town. A shame it was a holiday Monday as not much open.
I absolutely loved this place... given a personal tour, so informative and relaxed. Must do if its open and your in town.
MoreWe had a lovely tour a few years ago, we were lucky the host was even dressed up in Mary Poppins style. My daughter loved the hats and throwing a tantrum mid tour. Still was interesting and fun.
MoreTidy looking house. Not much information outside
Extremely well renovated, interesting tour, friendly and helpfull guided tour
We were so lucky to have a tour of this gorgeous house by the lovely current owner. She told us so much interesting information and facts from the life of P.L. Travers.
MoreBeautifully restored old bank and residence circa late 1800s - now also a private home

Touring the house was really interesting. The restoration has been very well done. The tour conducted by Les the owner gave a lot of additional insights into the Mary Poppins story. Worth the visit.Willem and Gail
MoreI had no idea of this place - just driving through Allora and found it by accident. Really lovely experince. The owners/hosts were charming and admission, guided tour, tea and biscuits and a plate of grapes from the 150 year old vive was great value for $10 . Truly lovely old house with mellow red cedar interior and appropriate decor - not overdone. It came over as a living home more than a musuem and all the better for that. Go see it !
MoreMary Poppins House is open on the first weekend of every month. Friday, Saturday & Sunday 10:00am - 3:30pm.
MoreGreat place to visit. The hosts are amazing as well as the history.
Very disappointing... was closed and the sign was sad... worth saying you have been there though
MoreLoved it very interesting and the hostess made us feel very much welcomed and at home
MoreBeautifully presented.
It was close when we went but its a nice little house from the front
Wonderful place
Fascinating history and a tour to bring it to life
Got a tour of the Mary Poppins house. Loved every minute of it. The generosity of the owners is astounding - its their home they are opening. They have decorated the home with wonderful antiques that makes the home feel like its stopped when the author lived there. They have discovered and share so much history - I loved everything about my time there.
MoreJust Beautiful
Excellent worthwhile visit
We only got to see the outside however you can get the gist of the room her father was in. Allora is a lovely little town.
MoreSupercalafragilisticexpialidotious
Absolutely amazing
Brilliant. Take time to read web site and fb to get opening hours. Remember the people who have renovated this house is their home
MoreVisited on 26th March, 2019. Was disappointed that we could not see anything. No opening times at house or web page. Arrived 1.30pm rang doorbell, no answer, closed sign hidden behind seat on verandah, was hard to find, especially with the damaged vehicles parked in front of it. The street was a salvage yard. Signage is to low, especially with vehicles parked in front of it. Signage hard to read from across road especially when written in gold writing against red background. Overall very disappointed especially when we were told to visit. I wish you luck and hope to visit again.
MoreWife and kids went through here and they all found the experience interesting and enjoyable.
MoreWonderful place to visit. Greeted with hosts who treat the house as the place with stories to be shared. Mary Poppins is just part of its fantastical life .. take time and enjoy
MoreTerrific
The owners have done a great job restoring the property. Well worth a visit.
Nice house, Pamela Travers did live there but only for 2 years of her life so not very relevant to its name.
MoreLoved the experience of hearing the history of what is now known as "The Mary Poppins House". Loraine & Les have since learning of the houses story have taken on a role of custodians for this generation. A must see and just remember to call as this is a "living treasure".
MoreAccidentally popped up in our sunflower trail route but its closed. Can only take photos outside ;(
MoreA gorgeous home. Loved the tour of the house and the history. A very enjoyable time.
MoreLooked great!
Lovely!
Who can forget Mary Poppins, if you are passing through Maryborough, then do not miss visiting where it all started from. Take time out to give Mary Poppins a hug, I did.
MoreNot normally open to public... but this was a special weekend. If you like Mary Poppins then you have to visit this place when you can.
MoreThis house was the childhood (6 - 9home of P.L. Travers, the author of Mary Poppins, between the years of 1905 and 1907.This is also the house depicted in the film Saving Mr Banks, but it was not this house in the film (it was filmed in California). Not mentioned in the film is that the bank Tracers Goff (P.L. Traverss fatherworked at was attached to this house. The house itself houses a small museum, but it is open by appointment only.
