Fun zoo, great for a day out with the family. Lots of walking between the different enclosures. Best to go is during the summer when the animals are not inside but still lots to see during the cooler months. Lot out for the light show near years end 😂

Have visited Marwell many many times over the years, firstly with our own children and now with our grandchildren. It remains a truly magical place. Trusting that research on-site and breeding programmes are leading to protection of threatened species.

We had a lovely day out at Marwell. Lots to see and do. Food and drink can be expensive inside but there are water stations inside to fill up a bottle and plenty of picnic areas if you take your own food. Its a lot of walking so be prepared. We got to see a lot of animals so that made us happy. Its all well signposted inside which makes it easier. Was a large queue to get in, so in future we would probably go a little later in the morning. You could easily spend a few hours here.

My daughter had an absolute blast here. Train was the highlight of her day! Really pleasant place to go and not overly crowded due to the large spaces. Lots of hills and walking so prepare yourself!

Upsides: Spacious and easy to walk around for those with a buggy etc. Great variety of animals and activities.Clean toilets spaced well around the zoo.Kids enjoyed themselvesDownsides : some areas/exhibits need some serious updating or renovation ( tiger/snow leopard / penguins especiallyas they let the park down and its sad to see the animals in poor/broken/worn out enclosures.Zoo is currently a completely cashless site which for us was very nearly a deal breaker for visiting.

This place is fantastic and really good value for money. The site is huge with so many animals to see. The fact that you can return for free within 7 days is even better, though wed travelled 2 and a half hours to visit so didnt end up re-visiting. If wed have been closer wed have gone back for sure. The day we went was absolutely boiling but there are a lot of free water refilling stations dotted about, and the water tasted great, and cold! There are a few food/snack places dotted about and one main large cafe/restaurant that we found. Price wise it was reasonable for such a place and the food was really nice. Much better quality than some attractions like this.We really wanted to see Santos the Sloth (youngest is Sloth crazyin the dome which simulates a tropical rainforest. Wed seen on some days he climbed down close to guests - we only managed a glimpse of him but even so, that whole rainforest area was fascinating. The staff were really friendly and helpful throughout the site, theyll chat to you as theyre passing through and give interesting insight into some of the animals and their behaviour/history etc.Wed definitely return one day, even with the distance from home, you get the chance to be pretty close to some of the animals. Even with the extreme heat we saw lots and many were trying to keep to the shade so on a cooler day who knows what more you could see.If you visit, be prepared to do a lot of walking!! Though theres a land train which can take you places (at an extra charge).

Lovely day out, lots to see and especially when we went with the Lego dinosaur models on display. Only downside to our visit was there was a huge number of wasps around all the food areas. Would be good to get more wasp traps installed!

Staff services: 4/5 didnt need much help from staff; but there wasnt much feeding show a talk with the animals.Food: 4/5 burger a hotdogs was not bad.Layout: 4.5/5 there was a wide variety of different animals + types from across the world. Most surprising was the temperature controls dome. Making the room fit the tropical animals. (Overall; slightly too much vegetationNote: -1 🌟 - the eating stands are NOT designed for when it gets busy.

Have been many times over the years. Had a great day out with the kids and really enjoyed seeing the animals. Still get the smiles and enjoyment as they try and spot the animals before we do. Lovely play areas where they can go and let off a bit of steam. Its starting to look a little old and tired in places with a few empty cages and areas. I am sure Covid did not help in regards to this. Hope that more animals are added in the near future. Despite this we will be returning again

.visited here the other day with our family had we entered the park we noticed how clean it looked also there are plenty of facilities around to eat and drink with plenty of seating and lots of picnic benches all around there were also lots of toilet facilities which were all kept clean throughout the day the staff were really pleasant and helpful .The Lego dinosaurs through out the zoo are Brilliant to see for kids and adults .and the adventure playgrounds kept our little boy entertained too.All though my sister in law had noticed that the zoo had seemed to have shrunk with not as many varieties of animals she had seen in previous visits .but the animals we did see all looked healthy and happy .oh and the land train which goes all around the zoo is great too for a small charge which is great and starts and finishes at the same point which we thought was good .in all we had a great day out and would urge anyone to go visit .thank you everyone at Marwell

Had a fab day out! Arrived at 10am and left at almost 5pm. There is so much to see and do and its a lovely place to wander round. The staff are so amazing and passionate, we learned so much about the animals and dinosaurs!! The kids were engaged and enjoyed seeing all the animals, playing in the parks, finding the lego dinosaurs.

Its a shame, visited marwell over 20 years ago and this was a 5 star zoo and visited a number of times with my children, now moving on to the present and visited with my granddaughter and to be fair I can only give a very generous 2 star. With probably less then half the animals to see where have they gone, the zoo was more like a ghost town, so disappointed for my granddaughter and would not recommend and will not return again.

Be prepared for a LOT of walking - There ARE benches strewn about, there are also quite a few cafeteria style cafes and restaurants. BUT you can also bring your own picnic (you can picnic by the wayside and watch animals from a distance.Parking is free - you DO have to walk quite a ways to get to the main entrance. They ARE operating at this time (July 2022 pandemic reference)But it IS advisable that you bring masks. *MIGHT Be a good idea* to RING the zoo first to see if there are any animals out.. if you are after something specific - DO call ahead. (We missed like 50% of the animals I think with the heatbit disappointing!!There are lots of animals! But unfortunately we were there on a day that was quite hot! I think the majority of them were off in the shade hiding/sleeping somewhere! But it WAS a nice day out. (KEEP hydrated... uhg!! ALSO my husband and I both got sun burned! LOLI SHOULD have brought my mini shopping trolley! (to put sunscreen, a small cooler for chilled drinks and food..)

Great fun with lots of different animals to see (obviously), three different play areas ranging from different ages for the kids to burn some energy on. Lots of facilities well placed around the zoo also free water bottle filling fountains dotted around. Only reason it wasnt a 5/5 was the lack of food options at the cafes. Other than that I would highly recommend as a value for money day out for the family 👍

We were so lucky to have see so many of the animals up close today.Zoo layout is fab, so many toilets facilities osite is great when there are so many people around. Lots of areas to sit and have a picnic. The friendly staff are always so willing to answer questions. The free water stations are so hand.

Marwell is a great zoo and definetly worth a visit, especially for the younger ones! The animals are lovely to see and you can tell they are well cared for, the cafe offers good quality food at okay prices and there are free water fountains around so definetly take a reusable bottle to keep yourself hydrated.I would say visit after 11am if prebooking as most of the ungulates wont be out of their night houses due to finishing off their morning feed if you go at 10am like we did.Overall great experience and I will be going again soon!

Absolutely blown away with the place! Managed to get some beautiful photos of the animals there, abd we were pleased to see that they are so well cared for. You can really see that the keepers are trying their best to make each animals enclosure as close to their natural habitat as possible. Lots of open spaces and walking around which was nice, and lots of different variety of parks for the children. I would definitely recommend this as a place to visit if you are in the vicinity, or for a day out as we did from the Isle of Wight. Beautiful place and a great attraction. We liked that the price was so good also!

Visiting marwell zoo was an exhilarating experience, the staff were welcoming and knew much about the animals in their care. Even though it was raining 🌧 we throughly enjoyed our time there and even got to see many of the animals out and about. The tropical house was a particular favourite with such an atmosphere of being in a real rainforest it was truly amazing. The variety of animals in there from birds to frogs, fish and even a sloth which was a special privilege to see with our own eyes. We also got to see a special Ant colony set up which was amazing and never thought I would see it in action with my own eyes. Also the tropical house was so warm that by the time we walked out, we were mostly dry and warm from the pouring rain outside which was a bonus lol. After the tropical house we got to see the snow leopard.. well the bottom of one as he/she was hiding in her cave lol. We then pass the rhinos and even got to see the penguins to only name a few of the amazing sights we saw.I would recommend going any time of year and certainly worth it for the price paid.We certainly are going to visit again, hopefully on a sunny day. 🌞

Great zoo, we love exploring Marwell. It’s all easily walkable, not far from any place in the park to another. Some great exhibits, we love the tigers, the snow leopard and the giraffes. The rhinos are fantastic, the playground has been recently upgraded and the rainforest exhibit is brilliant

As a local Ive been here on school trips as a child in the late 90s, weekend trips with family and now taking my cousins to enjoy. However, On my last visit it was disappointing to see how run down the park now looks. I heard many complain about the lack of animals here and how run down it is. Even the remanence of the old train looks depressing. Replacing empty animal enclosures with Lego isnt the answer! Clean up your act marwell.

A decent but big place for kids to venture out for atleast a minimum of 4 to 5 hours on a weekend. The collection of animals were huge and so does the birds. There are various activities inside the zoo to keep the young ones busy. There are also different lego toys of the dinosaurs / animals along with the time taken to complete those sculptures strewn around the entire park. Really breathtaking stuff. Decent car park, along with a hotel to stay inside the zoo. Restaurants were ok and were serving the usual burger, fries stuff. Do watch out for the tropical paradise / land, worth to be mentioned here

Great zoo, with a lot of enclosures. The animals look well looked after and healthy. The staff are very knowledgeable and willing to help and give you information about the different animals. There is a lot of walking involved so be prepared!!most things are wheelchair accessible and that makes it easier for everyone to enjoy a day at the zoo. There are many picnic areas where you can stop and enjoy snacks either bought from the coffee shop or brought by you.The kids will love it as there are a lot of activities and educational corners.Currently lego statues of dinos are hidden across the zoo with a lot of information about the prehistoric creatures and their habitat. Its worth becoming a member if you live locally as you can enter anytime around the year.

Came here during Easter; great day visiting animals, learning more about different species, very relaxing. Stayed overnight in the Marwell Hotel just opposite the main entrance, once all the zoo visitors are gone this area is so quiet, lovely escape from always busy and noisy London. You can come here by public transport, there is M1 bus from Eastleigh station (10minor you can take the same bus departing from Southampton. There are 2 or 3 cafes on site and during my visit there was BBQ stand.

Me and my children came here a few days ago, and it was amazing, we loved all the animals, the tropical house was lovely, we saw the wallabies and the kids were so entertained for the whole day. It really was a day to remember. But you do need a full day here as their is so much to see and do. It really is worth coming here.

I recommend arriving early around 10 or 11 AM, that way you can enjoy watching many of the animals be fed. Catching meal times ensures that the animals are active and you see the interactions with their handlers. There’s a decent amount of parking, and make sure you bring your walking shoes as there’s a fair distance between some of the exhibits. There are even some enclosures that you can walk into any animals roam around you. There’s lots of space for families to spread out and enjoy!

I think that this zoo has become very tired and is in serious need of an update! Such a waste of what’s a massive space. Not a great deal here in reality, empty cages, when it could be amazing if they used the space they waste on more animals. It’s not a cheap zoo to come to so not really worth a visit if there’s not much to see. Revamp time I think. And putting Lego dinosaurs around isn’t making a difference to the zoo, you need more animals, exhibits and to make this zoo less tired and more appealing.

Well worth a trip. We went the day before Storm Eunice so looked like a few of the animals had been moved indoors but even then we still had a great time. One of the best things is the animals have large enough enclousers so they have plenty of room to move but you still have no problems seeing them and getting your moneys worth.Highly recommended.

Bit disappointed with this site. We have come before and decided to come back whilst in the area on holiday. We pre booked our tickets and turned up on a bit of a miserable day. It started of a bit windy and damp but the rain came in later in the afternoon (likely we had left by thenwe found most of the animals were no where to be seen and what appeared to be lots of empty paddocks. I know some animals would have preferred to stay in on a miserable day but most of the pens dont have a way of seeing the animals when they are inside which is a shame especially with the British weather. Im sure we were able to see alot more the last time we came. It is early in the year so maybe things will improve.

I have visited Marwell Zoo many times over the last 15+ years and have always enjoyed my time here. They have a large selection of animals and have upgraded enclosures and added new ones over the last few years. The Tropical House and the aviary are currently closed due to the avian flu so you wont be able to see the birds that fly here or the sloths. The restaurant serves lovely food with large portions, although on pricey as to be expected at these types of attractions. The staff are always polite and helpful and the zoo keepers take great care of the animals. Would highly recommend to anyone interested in wildlife.

First time visiting, came here after recommended by friends.Had a lovely day out, despite the rain, lots of animals to see including penguins 🐧, Monkeys 🐒, Red Pandas 🐼, snow leopard 🐆 and many more. There was no queues to get into the park and loads is parking available.Animals can be seen clearly, through glass and enclosures, so young children to adults can enjoy the experience. This is an Ideal day out for anyone, babies, children, on your own, couples, elderly, wheelchair users, as there is slopes to make the park more accessible. There is a lot of land and a fair bit of walking to do around the zoo, so bear that in mind, however, there are benches and seats all around.Had lunch in cafe Graze, its quite small, but plenty of choices of food, from cookies, cakes and muffins, to chip, jacket potatoes or lasagne. There is probably only 10 tables inside the cafe, but there is a large outdoor dining area. All the staff are very friendly from the man who sold me my ticket at the entrance, to the lady who served me in the cafe and wished me a happy new year, to the gentleman who answered my questions in the tropical enclosure.Would definitely go again one day, but not for a while. If your looking to go often, you can upgrade your day ticket to an annual membership. The only thing, I felt let the zoo down, was the lack of toilets.

Really nice day out; reasonably priced tickets although hot food was a little pricy (but nice and served hot).We chose to eat around 1130 and so glad we did. On a cold day it seems that tables are at a premium. We are outside which was fine on one of the covered benches.Animals were mostly around and some keepers on hand to answer questions which was really informative.Highlights for us were a standoff between two white rhino (huffing, puffing, and charging), the giraffes (just being themselves), and a sloth going for a high wire adventure in the tropical house.

Superb. Clean with plenty of space, even on a busy summer holiday day out with kids. There is ample parking and people on hand when it opens to ensure visitors park quickly and safely. There was plenty of space to see all the animals. Obviously being a zoo, the animals are always wanting to be out in the outside enclosure, but you still see loads. There was a bit of a queue for the tropical house, but it was worth it.The gift shop is a little expensive, but as you know the profits are going back to the zoo and looking after the animals, you dont mind too much. The food isnt super expensive, but also not cheap. It is, however, very tasty. There are also two children who will vouch for the yummy ice creams.A little disappointed that the train wasnt on when we got there, but it didnt detract from a great day out.
