Iraq is safe place
A monument designed by sculptor Iraqi Ismail Fettah Turk in 1983 and is located in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad in the Rusafa side of Baghdad. Built this monument in memory of Iraqi soldiers killed in the Iran-Iraq war. However, Iraqis today are generally considered to commemorate all the martyrs of Iraq
The place is very beautiful ♥
👍
Having only driven by here and never visited on foot, I can say that it is a beautiful area even with the mad looks from the local population. Im not sure why they were angry because the traffic wasnt bad and we only drew gunfire every few trips. Sure, there were IEDs but dont let that deter you from a scenic desert oasis.
A great place to visit in Baghdad. The monument was originally dedicated to the victims of the Iran-Iraq but now represents the loss of subsequent conflicts. Free entry and a museum on the bottom floor. It’s easy to get some alone time there during certain times of the week.
Al-Shaheed Monument ( نصب الشهيد), also known as the Martyrs Memorial, is a monument designed by Iraqi sculptor Ismail Fatah Al Turk and situated in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. Extatic place with an indescribable feelingUnfortunately, the spot is kind of hard to reach
an amazing place that represent the memorials of the people who died in wars and fights , so that the people would never forget about them , this is one of the most amazing building in Baghdad that can be seen from very far away with a lakes around it make this place very peaceful and very quite place , when you visit this place and go inside and see it you will appreciate what this place represent
Martyr Monument is one of the most prominent architectural landmarks in Baghdad. It is designed by the Iraqi architect Saman Asaad Kamal and the dome designed by the Iraqi plastic artist Ismail Fattah Turk. The genius of design lies in the visual illusion of the monument on a wide open ground. The car passes around the monument. The two sides of the dome seem to be closed at the beginning of the street and begin to move away from one another as if a gate opens in front of it. When the visitor enters the site of the monument, he observes that this thing is to me, which rises to the top as an embodiment of the elevation of the spirit of martyr to heaven. Inscription inside the monument
Its closed for visitors 😥 since 2003, most of those who have access are members with Gov, some graduate students take memorial pics after having official declaration.
A place to remember the souls of martyrs who sacrificed their blood in response to the call of the homeland ... The construction is beautiful and gives a sense of luxury and greatness, still need more services
One of the most marvellous Iraqi monuments
One of the most attractive views you can see in baghdad. I use to drive near this monument on daily basis and I was enjoying the view every time I pass over there.
Historic and Symbolic, it had a special presence in Baghdad modern art and architecture history.
The monument consists of a circular platform 190 meters in diameter in the center of an artificial lake. On the platform sits a 40-meter tall split turquoise dome, which resembles the domes of the Abbasid era. The two halves of the split dome are offset, with an eternal flame in the middle. The shells are constructed of a galvanized steel frame with glazed turquoise ceramic tile cladding which was pre-cast in carbon fiber reinforced concrete. The interior is oculant, being that under the Iraqi flag, there is an open hole, or oculus, providing light below. The rest of the site consists of parks, a playground, parking lots, walkways, bridges, and the lake.
Incredibly cool. From a time when Baghdad in the 80s resembled a dystopian society of the future.
A place where we remind the great stories of Iraqi soldiers died defending their country
