Description
Privilege
Very good food. Incredible service, Marta and Michelle are the example of a very very good and nice service.
MoreAbsolutely delicious, fantastic service
We did the tasting menu and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. The service was warm and prompt, food was delicious. Our service did a great job pairing wines with our courses. Atmosphere was laid back and the restaurant was not crowded at all. We met the owner and she was very gracious. If you come to Florence you must stop here.
MoreBest food we had in our week in Florence. Wasn’t crowded or noisy and we didn’t have any problems booking a reservation. Would definitely recommend to anyone travelling here. The risotto I had was out of this world delicious!!
MoreNobody cares.. we have entered the restaruant, but the service pretendent we are not there. In the are are plenty of other places.
MoreVery tasty but small portions. Prices are good though
A real hidden gem. This should be a Michelin Star Resturant, beautiful owners too🤍
MoreI own a B&B in the center of Florence and had a guest today that made me aware of your restaurant. He told me about your family running this business for over 60 years and that he recognized, being an organic farmer himself, that you use fresh ingredients in all you make. He loved your place and will be using his referral to send other guests to you!Thank you for providing a memorable service to my guests!
MoreTruly the best restaurant in Florence! Not only is the food the best, but it’s not over-run by tourists! It’s a real hidden gem. Every classic Tuscan item will surprise you; each is prepared so meticulously, beautifully, and creatively. The service is personal and warm. The surroundings are well kept. I strongly recommend the tortelli (pictured belowand the potato-beef meatballs. I simply can’t recommend it enough. Absolutely delicious.
MoreA lovely place run by a family. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. Highly recommended!
MoreAll homemade, from growing their veggies and poultry. Great service. Fantastic presentation. Marta does a fantastic job in making you feel at home. So close to the Dome, this is probable THE ONLY ONE GEM left that is not touristy.
MoreGreat authentic food with fresh ingredients. Very kind staff and beautiful interior.
MoreLovely atmosphere and service. Marta was very kind, patient and helpful and I would definitely recommend dining here. Try their homemade ice cream!
MoreVery good food chosen and cooked with love. Bread and wine were excellent, the main courses and dessert very good. To top it all a nice and welcoming hostess Marta. The charming artistic interior design makes you feel at home. Highly recommended if you wish something different from the ordinary tourist attraction.
MoreWonderful experience with delicious food! The service is great! The lady is lovely and with hot house bread served! Just go for it!
MoreWe had dinner here last night and everything was amazing - the food was simply delicious, the hostess was lovely. Thank you, we loved every bite and every sip!
MoreExcellent Tuscan food combined with great service by Marta. As noted by others, thisrestaurant is easily overlooked as it is a bit off the more touristic eating places leading down to the duomo.
MoreHad the best course I ate evvver! And everything else was also delishious. Very clean and the hostess was very nice and informative.
MoreHad a great family dinner. What a nice place, deliscious food, great atmosphere!
We had such a lovely dinner here. The restaurant is located off of the main streets so it is quiet but still in the center of everything. Marta is wonderful and made our dinner very special. Many of the herbs and even the tomatoes came from her own garden. This place will definitely give you an authentic, delicious, and special experience while staying in Florence!
MoreAmazing place. We stopped for lunch, had cocktails, wine and desserts. I’d recommend to any foodie!
MoreAmazing food, especially the risotto and appetizers. Highly recommend.
Really good quality food at a good price. Italian dishes, traditional and innovative at the same time. The place is beautiful and peaceful and the service very nice.
MoreFabulous food with lovely people. Wonderfull lunch in nice restaurant in real Italian style.
MoreGood was fantastic and hospitality was very warm and welcoming. Owner Marta was lovely and will definitely come back.
MoreMartarè was amazing, treated us like royalty, she was so nice, and what can I say about the food! All home made, with veg from their garden....everything was delicious. Go there, and you will not be disappointed. Her husband is passionate about cooking, and boy does it show in his creations....
MoreThe highlight of our stay in Firenze! The Rice Cake (Torta di Risoand the smoked trout were our favorite, and the whole menu is full of seasonal ingredients. This is gourmet cuisine so it takes more time to prepare as every dish is made with love. Marta and Massimo, the owners, are genuine food lovers and speak little English. Go here for an authentic food experience and come back again if you can as most of dishes on their menu are both worth trying and delicious.
MoreThis is the best restaurant for eating just like your Italian Mamma would cook! Best Tuscan food ever: simple, light, flavorful!
MoreA true gem just in the centre of Florence! Excellent food cooked traditionally and on the spot in a family friendly atmosphere. To be revisited soon!
MoreThis place was one of our best meals in Florence. Popped in for lunch after the Accademia. It’s right around the corner, on a quiet street away from the crowds. The wine was delicious, we had a meat and cheese tasting board, pasta and a caprese! All was delicious and made with love!
MoreMataré is an outstanding restaurant located near the Duomo and Piazza della Santissima Annunziata. The hostess is lovely and although she doesn’t speak much English she is able to communicate with the guests. The food is outstanding. This restaurant is a true local restaurant. I would highly recommend the restaurant to anyone visiting Florence. You won’t be sorry. Loved it. Favourite restaurant in Italy so far!
MoreReally great experience. Not expensive, not too many tourists, very nice and great food. Well be back for sure.
MoreBeautiful place with elegant cuisine. Martare is just renovated, few people know about it. Close to Duomo, but really quiet family restaurant without crouds of tourists. We were a bit confused by the menu: its not big though exquisite, so its not easy to decide at least for me. But here everything is so delicious and not extremely expensive, without doubts worth trying. We were surprised by a very interesting complement from the Chef and by exellent service. I want also mention the interior: Florence harmony in modern comfortable way, anyway its better to see by yourself. This is one of my strongest Florence experiences!
MoreBeautiful, very simple and inexpensive food. Pastas with just a few ingredients for only €8. Staff very friendly. Highly recommend for a light but tasty lunch.
MoreSome of the best food I’ve had in the world. Focusing on excellent meals with innovative flavours, I thoroughly enjoyed the dishes and applaud the chefs for their creativity!Highly recommended, whether you want a class of wine a starter or a full tasting menu. Cannot praise them enough.
MoreOne of the best meals. We had in Florence.Tasty, fresh & friendly service. It was busy & reservations are probably recommended, we just wandered off the street.
MoreThere are plenty of restaurants in Florence, and Im sure lots of them are very good: Ive enjoyed some great food here. The Osteria de lOrtolano is instantly my favourite though, for many reasons: a friendly and helpful husband and wife pairing of chef and front-of-house; delicious haute cuisine takes on traditional Tuscan staples (rabbit, pork, risotto), delicious and unusual pairings of by-the-glass wines (at reasonable prices), and probably the best cheese board Ive ever had (the delicate blue goats cheese was sublime with the home made onion chutney).Definitely worth taking those few extra steps off the main street with its identical looking trattorias with identical menus..
MoreDelicious authentic food made with love. The owners really care about what they create. Loved lunch so much, we came back for dinner. The three course surprise menu with matched wines was amazing! Best decision we made in Firenze!
MoreOur final night in Florence and our final meal was the best. We’ve enjoyed the city’s food all week but this was so inventive and witty. The chefs are rightly proud with everything they bring out and the modern spin on good, local, well sourced stuff is excellent! So friendly despite my embarrassing lack of any basic Italian. We’ll definitely come again next time (with an improved vocabulary). Be sure to book an evening here as part of your trip! Oh and have the cheese board! (often the most disappointing part of a menu- at Osteria De l’Ortolano it was a highlight!
MoreLovely family run restaurant with freshly made local produce served by the owners. Tasty and good prices. Especially handy if near the San Marco or Academia but quite close to San Lorenzo and Duomo.
MoreAmazing little place! Highly recommend the tasting menu - 3 surprise meals for £25/person. The food was incredible - our quinoa, Rabbit dish and risotto were so delicious so we ended up ordering desert as well!!!
MoreWe stumbled by this place by chance... what a find! Dinner was phenomenal. This is anything but an ordinary "cucina typica" - it is something different than all the other Tuscan restaurants in the city. The menu is original, modern, using local ingredients that are in season. We discovered that the chef was trained at the Cordon Bleu - that means he knows what he is doing! The menu also happens to very carefully show which dishes are gluten free, vegetarian or vegan, and has a list of allergens for each dish. A bonus for people like me (gluten free). It also means the chef takes close care to what he is cooking.Come here for a quiet, romantic dinner, spend a full 2 hours and enjoy a wonderful meal.
MoreCozy little place. Good food and environment.
Wow, this is a hidden gem. I was blown away by the quality of food here. I did not have low expectations, I just thought it would be more run of the mill. The menu was interesting, unique, and everything I ate was delicious. The hostess/owner (I believewas very sweet and attentive. They have tasting menus at very reasonable prices. I recommend budgeting a good amount of time to sit and enjoy your meal- its not bad service, it is just measured and unhurried. Decor is very cozy and subdued. The front of the restaurant is a separate room where you can get takeaway food, which I did not try.
MoreTasty lunch option and great staff!
Dont know why this homely half-deli half-restaurant wasnt much busier as the food was fantastic and reasonably priced. Its off the main tourist drag, tucked away down a quiet side street near the Duomo. Worth making the slight detour. Huge wine selection and great service. The duck ragu in particular was delicious.
MoreFor the weary traveller, De lOrtolano is a welcome respite of carefully prepared dishes. The verdura flan was a delicious balance of spinach, pea coulis and onion. The ravioli were marvelous and the veal cooked sensitively with sage. My wifes dishes were also perfect and we enjoyed the strong wine list. A great find based on a recommendation of a friend. Thank you Marta!
MoreAwesome and authentic local spot. The food is amazing. Mom and pop style. We had a couple of pasta dishes and steak. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. Every dish we had was excellent. Well worth a try if you are in the neighborhood.
MoreBest meal in Florence. Charming restaurant, fabulous service and the most delicious food! Loved every minute of our experience. If you have a chance order the ravioli...amazing!!
MoreBella Bella!!!! This was quite possible the best place on our whole trip in Venice, Florence and Roma!!! You all must check it out! Get there early it fills up quickly!
