Marmalade in San Juan

We had the five course tasting menu and it was one of the best meals we’ve enjoyed for years. The servers were all knowledgeable and patient when answering our many questions about both the food and wine pairings. IF we can get another reservation before flying home we intend to go back to experience several items on the menu that we missed the first time around!

Top Michellin Star Restaurant in the heart of Old San Juan. I would recommend ordering the truffled steak tartare, Bean Soup and Sirloin steak. The dessert was amazing as well. Wine paring is recommended so that you can enjoy the full experience. Marmale maybe better than their competition 1919.

We flew in for our 10 year anniversary just to eat here and it did not disappointed. They set us at a very romantic table where we were seated side by side with roses petals all over. Our server Isabelle was very knowledgeable and friendly. She gave us great drinks and food suggestions. Nothing was worth less then 5 stars but our favorites were definally the beef tartar, the white bean soup, the lobster risotto and the beef tenderloin. The truffle Gelato is a six stars.

Beautiful special-occasion restaurant! Loved the five course meal with wine pairing! The mix of flavors in each dish was artful.

I vacationed in Old San Juan for a week for my birthday and the single set item I had on my itinerary was to have the tasting menu and wine pairing at Marmalade on the night of my birthday.The meal and service I had far exceeded my already high expectations. Every single course was a well-crafted, multi-sensory experience, complimented and heightened by skillfully chosen wine pairings. It was course after course of exquisitely layered flavors, aromas, textures and colors.The service was outstanding, a perfect balance of genuine personal attention with unobtrusive course setting changes. I am hard-pressed to recall a better dining experience anywhere Ive traveled.This meal was truly the highlight of my trip to Old San Juan, and the rest of my trip was pretty phenomenal so that is a high bar. If you are in Old San Juan, give yourself the gift of a night at Marmalade.

We were here for a 12 person bachelor party and we were given royal treatment, thanks to the GM, Rafael. Unbelievable the amount, and quality, of the food and service. We had several food/dietary restrictions and allergies and they were able to accommodate everything and everyone, and even provided alternative dishes for things certain folks couldn’t have. Zach was our server with help from Layla. They were both amazing. Whether it’s a special occasion or if you just love amazing food and service, You will not be disappointed. I highly recommend Marmalade.

Excellent food and a great experience! Our waiter Hector was awesome and took very good care of. We did the 14 course tasting menu and we were not disappointed. Not a single bad dish! The white bean and truffle soup I could eat every single day! This is a must try!

This restaurant is gorgeous and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable and kind, but that’s not even the best part. Get the full 5 course tasting and wine pairing menu you will not regret it. It was one of the top 3 food experiences I’ve ever had in my life, the food was immaculate at every bite and the pairings were genius, it blew our minds. 10/10 you have to go.

If mmmmmph! had a word it’d be Marmalade. Food was decedent. Service was attentive, adaptive, and sneakily thoughtful. I felt like I was sitting in the palm of chef Peter Schintler’s throughout the night. It was a friends fortieth bday and we had a full tasting menu. We were blown away at the taste, service, and all around experience. My stomach and taste buds were singing. How blessed were we. Beautiful evening. Recommend to all who are looking for something extraordinary.

Top 3 in San Juan for us. Great service, wonderful and thoughtful dishes and cuisine. The chef really knows what hes doing here. Highly recommend for your Puerto Rico visit.

Marmalade provided an excellent 13-course chef’s tasting menu for our large party of 9. They also accommodated for two dietary restrictions and our experience was amazing! Everyone enjoyed each course which was strategically paired with a wine. Their service complimented the food well. The ambience was upscale and traditional with ample room. Marmalade’s food was definitely worth the price, well made and tasting. I highly recommend visiting if in San Juan.

I had one of my best five-course experience in this place. The courses had various cuisine influences. I enjoyed so much the main salmon course and the 8-L chocolate dessert.

This was the best meal that we have ever eaten. The white bean soup was the best tasting soup that I have ever had. The portions were very generous and we found ourselves struggling to find room in our stomachs to finish the main course and dessert. The wine pairing complemented each course very nicely. We will definitely make sure to return on our next visit to San Juan.

If you’re looking for an amazing fine dining experience with AMAZING service this is the SPOT! Everyone that served us were so sweet and attentive. We went for my boyfriend’s birthday dinner and every person we interacted with greeted him by name. We’ll definitely be coming back here once we visit PR again

Marmalade is the best fine dining restaurant in Puerto Rico. The food is very good, the wine pairing compliments well, the service is excellent. The portions are very healthy. The only criticism is their coffee needs improvement. You’ll need reservations. Our group consensus this visit was the bread pudding, gnocchi short rib, and lobster risotto were the winners.

We enjoyed the 5 course fixed price dinner for two. The venue is lovely as is the service. The only blot on the evening were a pair of scantily clad Instagram influencers taking pictures of each other next to our table. We chose the wine pairing which went very well with each course. Our favorite dishes were the lamb tagine and the bean soup with truffles and pancetta. So much umami! Dinner was about two hours and totaled about $250 per person after tip. Definitely a memorable experience in old San Juan.

Amazing experience! I visited marmalade with my bf for his birthday & we truly enjoyed ourselves. The vibe of the restaurant is casual high end and the service is super! The cocktails are not the best but the wine selection is a must try.

Went here for my mother birthday and the food was amazing and service was phenomenal. Definitely 1 of the top restaurants I’ve ever been to.

In our visit to PR we decided to celebrate our anniversary at this spot since we had read wonderful reviews. It didn’t disappoint!! The staff is incredibly accommodating. Our baby was not at their usually great behavior, and the staff did absolutely everything and more to make our experience memorable. Even with multiple complementary dishes from the Chef!!The food was delicious. The Beef Tartar appetizer, the Three Pigs entree, and the Mexican Chocolate dessert were our absolute favorites. The Chef seems to have a special touch for earthy flavors .The place itself is elegant, although most visitors, at least that day, were dressy casual at best. So please, don’t overdressed as we did.

A truly global experience! We opted for the tasting menu with wine paring and it did not disappoint!! Don’t sleep on the white bean soup; normally I wouldn’t order a soup on a tasting menu but it’s the rich aunt of a midwest potato soup who just got back from her European vacation. I will forewarn patrons that the dishes are certainly not small. When we learned the chef was from Idaho the portion sizes made sense but you are certainly getting your moneys worth! Amber was a true delight and walked us through every portion of the evening! I am gluten intolerant and the menu was very easily accommodated! I would highly recommend this restaurant to any foodie or wine aficionado.

This was the best dining experience I ever had! The food, drinks, service, and ambience were all phenomenal, and I can’t wait to go back one day. Our group of 4 did the 5-course tasting menu and ordered 15+ different things so we could try as many dishes as possible. Everything on the table was incredible, with delicious and surprising flavor combinations. The ceviche, shrimp, lamb tagine, malanga gnocchi, and desserts were especially amazing. The staff were very knowledgeable and provided helpful recommendations. 10/10 would recommend!

By far the best dining experience weve had in San Juan, and possibly one of my favorite dining experiences in a while. The atmosphere was beautiful, the service was impeccable and the food was delicious, beautiful, filling and fulfilling. We will certainly make this a must-have whenever we travel to San Juan. My husband and I came for the NYE dinner wine pairing. Food was very delicious and well presented. Wine was paired very nicely with each course. Staff was extremely knowledgeable and provided great facts on the wine and ingredient origins. Only complaint is that the price point was extremely high. $370 per person. I understand higher pricing because of the holidays but that felt higher than normal.

What a experience in Old San Juan! Very creative and different. It’s expensive but you will not regret. For a special occasion is the best plan. We order the four courses and everything was outstanding. The cocktails and the dessert also WOW 🤩 Good service too.

Everything was amazing, both food and service. I got the five course meal to match the five stars. First up for me was the tuna tar tar, and for the first time I ever had it, I LOVED IT! Then I had two other appetizers. I had the beet salad with homemade goat cheese then the rigatoni with shaved black truffle and Tasso ham. Plating was amazing for all. Then, after a small break to let the appetizers settle, I had tenderloin that was so good that I thought I was dreaming. Finally, I had my desert. I had a wonderful banana bread pudding that melted in my mouth . That was great and I enjoyed it. But, this review is not just about food, it’s also about service, the people here were amazing, our waitress gave us wonderful suggestions and every plate I got came with a person giving a very detailed explanation of what was in the dish I was about to eat. Overall, the entire experience left me filled but yet wanting more. (I’m including some photos but not of everything I ate because in some cases I just couldn’t wait it looked, and tasted, so great!)

BEST 5 star restaurant in SJ PR. Traffic is crazy in PR but getting to Marmalade’s was just a mission nevertheless we called and their amazing staff told us they would hold the table for us! Upon arriving, pretty much all staff knew it was my Birthday, our server explained our 4 course meal, she explained the dishes, the ingredients and what kind of wine 🍷 was available. Definitely worth your bucks and quality food!!!

Best restaurant my husband and I have eaten at in Puerto Rico. Service was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Five star course is worth the extra money. Our favorite dishes were the three pigs, cinnamon bun dessert, and chocolate dessert but everything was delicious.

Lovely place. This isnt what I would call a tasting menu, servings were large and I was absolutely stuffed when finished (and could not finish my food). I love truffles but made the mistake of ordering 3 courses with truffles and they are generous -- it was too much, way too much. The potato soup was the best, lovely texture. The miso creme brulee was bitter and too weird. House wine is $27/glass -- very good, but too expensive. Also they have a supposed dress code and I saw people in there who looked like they walked in unwashed from the beach. They sent a reminder text, email and even phoned, plenty of time to gently remind people about a dress code.

One of the best dining experiences I have had in a long time. Every course was amazing! The white bean would be my last meal on death row! Would recommend!

Delicious meal! If you want to treat yourself or have a special occasion to celebrate, marmalade is the place to go! Must try their white bean soup and also the choco-l8 dessert (if they still have this one— the bean dip never leaves the menu but other dishes change)

FIVE STARS ISN’T ENOUGH.We decided to try Marmalade after searching for “best eats” for our upcoming San Juan trip. Our group of 4 decided to try the five-course tasting menu and it was AMAZING!! The combination of unique and distinct flavors, left us all loving the mouthwatering dishes.Overall, the food, service and ambiance was SO GREAT that I’ll be visiting again on Wednesday! I NEED to visit one more time before heading back home.

The absolute best dining experience I have ever had! Decided to treat myself for my 37th birthday....and what a treat it was! They all said happy birthday and congratulations....which I thought was so sweet! From ambiance, staff, drinks and the food....oh my goodness SPECTACULAR!!! They placed rose petals on my table.....4 course meal... Everything was explained as the dish was presented....I will definitely be back! Such a special experience 💖 Thank you for exceeding my birthday expectations 🎂

This is one of the best restaurants that I have ever been to, and I’ve been to a lot of them. A friend and I tried the 5 course tasting, and it was to die for. I also tried the drink “global warming”, which truly was its description! I kept expecting that the next dish wouldn’t be as good as the last, but every single dish exceeded my expectations. I know it is quite pricey but trust me it is worth it. TRY THE WHITE BEAN SOUP, it is not at all what you think it is, it was possibly my favorite dish of the night. The service was impeccable, the restaurant was extremely clean, and we did not have to wait long for any of our dishes. The restaurant is more popular at around 7:30-8:00pm, if you’d like to beat the crowd or join them. The next time that I’m in Puerto Rico, I will absolutely come back to Marmalade. To be quite honest, I still have a couple of days left here, I might just come back!

I can not recommend this place more!! I would give more stats if allowed. The atmosphere was spot on for a nice dinner after flying into Puerto Rico for the weekend. 1st the service was stellar as we got a wine tasting with our dinner and the server was sensation with explaining the wine and on top of that the food was to die for!! This is absolutely one of my favorite spots and will make sure to come back soon. Dont miss this place while on this beautiful island!!

We just came back and I could not wait but share this review. Ambiance is top notch, lighting, table set, bar. Beautiful!Food was scrumptious, and I suggest you get that soup as your fifth meal course , it is just mind-blowing. Food worth any penny.Kristina was helping us this evening and she was soo helpful and accommodating. Every single waiter who helped us that evening has congratulated us with anniversary which speaks volumes about their individualized service and care. All I can say is WOWOWOWOW! Do yourself a big favor and make reservations here if you’re heading to Puerto Rico. This was not only our best meal in PR, but I’d say top 10 meals of the year! It’s a pre-fixe menu and we opted for 4 courses each. It came out to about $120 per person which is a great price for the quality of food you’re getting!! Our server, Joshua, was honestly such an incredible human that he elevated our experience. He was mindful of all our food restrictions/allergies and created some phenomenal mocktails for us. The lobster risotto, halibut, and ceviche were just out of this world. I’d go back to PR JUST for marmalade!

A must go for anyone celebrating special occasion in San Juan. This is surely Michelin worthy in taste, presentation and ambience providing an amazing experience w attentive and knowledgeable servers. What an AMAZING experience. Everything and i mean everything about this establishment is fantastic. The food, perfect, the menu, perfect, the ambiance, perfect, and the service, you guessed it, perfect as well. If you are in San Juan and want a romantic and delicious experience, this is the place to go, hands down.

The Chef is insanely talented. Everything he makes has so much detail, different flavors and textures that when eaten, the burst of flavor and mixture of texture is a party in each bite. That’s talent. Even when the food looks simple, the taste blows you away! This guy is the real deal. And the famous soup they are known for is totally worth going for. We were all full, then it came around and none of us left a drop behind! Wow!

If you are vegan this is a must do! Dinner was amazing, every dish had so much flavor accompanied with a perfect wine pairing. To top it all off the service was outstanding! I’ve been vegan for 20+ years, this the the best restaurant I have gone to.

First things, first. Getting a reservation at Marmalade on short notice was challenging. After a quick phone call, a late reservation was accommodated. Our server was passionate and knew the menu front to back. She described the dishes with such detail and guided the decision making process for the 5 course tasting menu. The spaghetti squash ramen and golden beets were standout. I wish we’d have gotten the heirloom tomatoes. It was hard to choose the items as everything sounded so good and prepared so uniquely. The monk fish was rich and decadent as well as the truffle pasta. And if you make it to your dessert course, you will be rewarded. What a great experience overall.

Food was super tasty! I came with my daughter who has some allergy issues and the chef was able to provide four plates for her. All the dishes for my daughter looked delectable. I was very satisfied with the help from the chef even though there seemed to have been a miscommunication during the reservation. During the physical visit, a list of allergies was provided along with placing the reservation. We were called to verify the reservation. During the call we checked if all was in order to assure she can eat there. Sadly when we arrived, we felt the front desk did not adequately communicate with the kitchen staff to identify and/or modify which dishes could be safe for her ahead of time.Each of my meals were paired with white wines. Not being a white wine lover, I was pleasantly surprised at the flavors and quality of each paired wine to chosen dish. The dishes were created to perfection with each wine enhancing the culinary experience. My favorite would have to be the creme brulee with miso cube and desert wine with the second being the white bean truffle soup.The service from Nicolette was excellent and was wonderful to make sure we have a pleasant time. We hope the restaurant appreciates her.The restaurant is clean and the ambience is really comfortable. Just disappointed with the miscommunication between the front desk, chef and us in being prepared ahead of time for the visit. We would still highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. We had a great time here.

We could not speak more highly of our anniversary experience. We got the four course meal with wine tasting and everything came out incredibly well prepared.
