Market Grounds - Bar in Perth, Australia
Great food.We went there for the bottomless dumplings and it was awesome. Great service and delicious food. We are going back for the bottomless bao bun. Cant wait!
Friends and I did a bottomless brunch here in August - the accompanying food was tasty, and the service excellent. Returned for a meal over the weekend (Saturday evening). The service was excellent again but the food mediocre (and we thought on the pricey side). We had a sausage pizza, didnt particularly enjoy the flavour (very strongly flavoured lumps of sausage which did not go well with the rest of the pizza flavours). The broccoli sounded interesting - but came as a half head of overcooked vegetable on a bland mush of some sort. Burgers were rated OK by the rest of the table. A shame as the location is ideal, and the venue is gorgeous.
I have been to Market Grounds twice. Once for a work social event, once with friends. Both times have been quite pleasant experiences - the food and drinks served were good, bar staff were very friendly. Music is good, atmosphere is a really nice vibe. Options of outside in the beer garden sort of vibe, or inside near the DJ for louder music, or upstairs for a VIP type experience overlooking the dancefloor and DJ.
I booked a table for twelve people (inc. 1 childfor the Bottomless Yum Cha on 24/08/2022 and had to pay for the whole booking in advance which wasnt an issue. The booking was done via email and had great communication with the restaurant during this time.Unfortunately, one person could not make it as she had to fly overseas to attend a funeral. When I notified the staff to ask for a refund for her portion since I had paid everything in advance, they said they didnt have the facilities to do it on site and to contact head office. So, I emailed head office and since then have had no response to my multiple emails and also online contact form.It isnt about the money as its not a lot at all, but Im a little disappointed at the lack of communication and service after the fact. Ive organised many functions at Market Grounds and have always had a good experience, however, have been left dissatisfied on this occasion.I have the emails and also asked for a receipt to show the amount of people that attended that night.
Very good place to have fun with friends and get few drinks with some nice music too
Really good customer service. Sam the bartender was very friendly and helpful! definitely would come back :)
Amazing hospitality. Market grounds looked after a large group of my friends on a Monday night. The venue was clean, the food was great and the bar staff were fantastic. Bartender Sam was incredibly welcoming, funny and above else, professional. 11/10 would go again.
Would of given 0 stars of the option where available.Just plain Awful.....Tonight dined at the Market Grounds Perth lured by bottomless Yum cha. Let me tell you this.....having eaten at the best street fairs from Vietnam to Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia and Without sounding conceited.....I have a decent bead on what Yum Cha or Dim Sum is. What Market Grounds served up was garbage. Was still hungry but left before wanting to immediately purge my stomach contents into the gutter outside. The dumplings were cold and lacked any sort of wholesome content, delicate chef inspired seasoning or real food that once migbt have resemlbed a livingl animal like a prawn. The contents of the dumplings on offer were all pretty much the same with msg flooded bread puree the main culprit. Soy sauce was not even soy but horrid Maggi Seaoning. The fried rice was something remniscient of an Australian attempting chinese replication circa 1972 when very little was known of Orient cuisine. What was served up as squid was most certainly not but some sort of Surimi blended fish paste created in the bowels of a factory ship damned to troll the tepid polluted waters of the Pacific. Suffice to say a Chiko Roll has more in common with Yum Cha than what was on offer here tonight.
Lovely staff but food wasnt particularly tasty. Would recommend as a place for drinks but perhaps not for a meal.
Wednesdays Bottomless Yum-cha was disappointing as each of the 6 dishes were what I felt to be below par on a taste and presentation scale. The best was the ga lan (kalewith oyster sauce but then its just boiled greens isnt it. The worst were the salt and pepper squid which were soggy and dropping calamari in disguise. Service was quick and pleasant.
Sam was absolutely amazing, couldn’t recommend a better bartender, best vibes for a Friday night!!! making me want to come back !! xxx
Super limited options if you come here while an event is on.
Security have no idea, 100% incompetent in every way possible. Enough said. Don’t waste your money there go else where.
The security staff are rude, condescending and incompetent. I have been to many establishments over many years and never have I come across anything like this. Such a shame, they ruined what should of been a special evening with old friends. Just avoid the place. So many other good bars.
Did the Bottomless gin sip session and it was really good! Drinks were never left empty and there was more than enough food! Great day out for my birthday
Went to the bottomless brunch yesterday having not being to one before I had reservations on "bottom less" time and service. I was so pleasantly surprised on the service food and drinks!! It was amazing highly recommend and will be back. Our waitress was Maria and she was absolutely wonderful!!! She was very busy and worked really hard I hope the company knows how great she is her service was outstanding and made the whole day spectacular
I came in for the All you can eat Yum Cha on the 17th and while the food was great it was a total let down from staff. Clearly few of my plates were empty but not once did they ask me if I wanted more. Yet I observed they were running around other table and asking them if they wanted more. I guess they didn’t bother to ask me since I was alone. I was hungry for more but they were more interested in me finishing off early so they could offer the table to someone else. So disappointed
Great atmosphere but the food we had was terrible. The frozen chicken slices on the chicken pizza were next level disgusting. You dont expect them using frozen food with those prices
Loved it. Huge Venue with a good mixed crowd. My cocktail was average and I didn’t enjoy it
My partner, mother, baby and I went to the market ground today for some Lunch/Dinner. Our waitress was Apiny (I hope I spelt her name correctly). She was the most pleasant and attentive waitress we have experienced in a very very long time. She was just amazing!! I cannot speak highly enough for her. My partner was feeding my son on another table, she offered to move his food over to him, the baby changer was broken in the toilet, she offered to assist me if I needed help changing my baby, she went above and beyond with her customer service. We will be back and hopefully we will have lovely Apiny serving us again. ⭐️⭐️
Attended yesterday with friends for the Sipsip session Espresso Martini event.Drinks were great,.food was also good. Special mention to Jade our waitperson who was friendly, welcoming and incredibly attentive. All in all a lovely afternoon 😊
Just wanted to give a 5 star review to our waiter CLAY. We recently visited for a Margarita sip session and Clay was our waiter. He was friendly and super efficient on the day, making sure our drinks and food were kept flowing. Thankyou Clay for the 5 star service!
This could be a 5 star rating, however one aspect lets the place down: the disrespectful attitude of crowd controllers and kitchen staff. Firstly, if the menu says scallops with avocado and pancetta, then I expect there to be pancetta - not diced tomato as a replacement. We ordered a dozen and half scallops, so should there be no pancetta then have the courtesy of letting the customer know that. To be told the pancetta was in the breadcrumbs was an insult to my intelligence, and further perpetuates the lie and deception. On the contrary, the waitress who served our table at dinner is an absolute asset to the business and should train other staff on how to treat patrons – she was respectful and accommodating. Secondly, the crowd controllers were considerably rude for no reason at all. My boyfriend had to leave, and organised with the manager to not wait in line on his return - Joel was understanding and obliging. However, when this was explained to the c.c at the entrance it was initially ignored and my boyfriend had to wait quite sometime for it to be verified. Then not long after, two c.c’s came up to my boyfriend and stood in front of him in a hostile/antagonistic manner. Why? No one knows. We easily spent over $2000 at the venue, we were respectful at all times, but I can’t say the same for others representing the venue. Shame.
Its a good pub , however , please be aware that after 9 if you go out for a Smoke , the only way they will allow you to re- enter if you show some Id.
Waited in line for a long time to be told my digital licence was not good enough. Please improve your technology, and join the 21st century. Decent music though
First time in market grounds! Pretty good atmosphere, bar staff and bouncers were all pleasant to talk to. Plenty of staff behind the bars so not waiting long time to get served. The food was not bad, and the selection of drinks was okay. Id recommend Market Grounds if you havent been before, definitely worth a visit.Scott.
Drinks are ok if you taste what you paid for didnt realise when you ordered spirits it was no less then 2mm from the bottom of the glass isnt standard drinks 30mls bloody disgrace and I was sober awsell! staff was good but need to serve drinks properly especially when each round is $67
Admittedly I visited this place on a quiet Saturday afternoon.Atmosphere of that time was laid back and casual.Seemed a great place for groups of Females to dress up and head out for drinks with the Girls, before going out after to Northridge or Other Perth City 🌆 Night Life Venues.
Went for bottomless baos for $35 that they were doing for Wednesdays in February. Was served by Phoenix who was super efficient, friendly and bubbly- explained the menu to is perfectly and made sure we were comfortable.Selection of pork, tofu karaage, Korean spicy chicken and Lobster baos.- Tofu karaage was quite good and well balanced with sauce.- Pork belly bao was our favourite. Sauce was on the sweeter side but the baos balanced it well.- Lobster was quite fishy but a little more in the lighter side. Not our favourite, but each to their own.- Korean spicy chicken was exactly as described, delicious but occasionally some batches were spicier than others.Overall awesome service, good food and nice vibes to hang out. Worth the bottomless baos. Apparently someone ate 16 baos in 2 hours! We ate 9 and were stuffed!
Came for bottomless brunch yesterday afternoon. It was $70 pp for bottomless selected drinks and a three course meal. Drink selection was adequate. Entrees were shared between the table which consisted of marinated olives, beetroot dip, burrata, bread, and pork croquettes. The pork croquettes were absolutely delicious but everything else just mediocre - just antipasto really. The main was chicken breast with roasted potatoes and a bean sprout and green beans salad type thing on the side. Chicken was quite dry with little taste unless you drench it in the sauce, and the bean sprout green bean salad was extremely off-putting. Roast potatoes were tasty though. Dessert was an ice cream sandwich, personally did not like the taste at all.Overall it’s definitely not worth the money if you don’t drink, as the food is not really worth it. Would only come back again for a different type of menu selection. Paid the same price pp for bottomless brunch at Miss Chows in Claremont with bottomless dim dim and drinks with amazing service.
We booked a long lunch for two $69 per head.Im giving the whole experience 4 stars out of 5. The starters all good except, not Turkish bread but stale bread, beetroot humour just blitzed beetroot, the pork croquettes and Italian cheese good. The mains 5 out of 5 really great food. Desserts we didnt stay for, needed to get home to watch the ladies final. Overall very good value for money and a great venue. Give me some fresh bread and a beetroot houmus with some chickpeas and tahini and Id give this a 5 out of 5.
Nice venue, big and open space, good drinks and food menu. I felt the food was quite average, cold chips, white wonder bread style bread with the $23 chicken sandwich, and someone on our table had a whole broccoli head in her salad (not chopped at all). Our table pre-ordered the day before as we were a large table, but even still our food all came out at different times and with big gaps between first and last meal arriving. Despite being at the table for a few hours I was never offered a second drink, didnt really feel like it was table service.
Great place for a night out, amazing pizza!
Great venue. Amazing hummus. The ice cream sandwich is too rich (like heavy chocolate cakeand the donuts were really hard on the outside (they didnt taste fresh to me). I didnt like that my drink was almost entirely ice (there was one giant ice block the same shape as the cup with about a 1cm gap on each side and underneath).Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures of anything but the dessert.
Long Lunch 10 July 2021This was our first time trying the Long a lunch and weren’t disappointed.Firstly the staff were fantastic. Very warm and friendly and efficient.Secondly the food was delicious. A really good variety and plenty of it. I am shocked to admit that the Brussel Sprouts were incredible. Everything was nicely presented and did I mention- delicious.Thirdly the drinks. The cocktails were so nice and way to easy to drink. I’m going to making those for friends. The staff were more than happy to get refills quickly and we were able to taste everything on offer on the menu.Lastly the venue. Lovely. It’s a great spot with plenty of space and we had a booth for our group which was perfect. Great outside area for when the weather is more friendly. Plenty of paid parking a couple of minutes away.Tickets were $69 each which I think was very good value. The theme and menu changes each time and I will definitely be going back.Sorry my photos are terrible but you get the idea.
10/10 for this venue! We recently hosted an engagement party and the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. Functions manager Teegan answered all of our questions quickly and was incredibly helpful in the function being a success. We also want to make a mention of the staff on the evening, the bar staff were amazing! Helpful, friendly and fast. Waitstaff were the same, made extra effort to bee line to the ‘bride-to-be’ to ensure she stayed fed 😊Overall, really really appreciate everyone and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend market ground to anyone looking for a function venue!
🥒🥬🥦VEGAN ALERT🌶🍄🍅⠀1. GF Bread & Pumpkin Spread2. Tomato Gnocchi3. Quinoa Salad⠀Ill give you 3.5 thumbs up!!(5max)👍👍👍👌⠀😊The restaurant was right besides the bar so can get noisy....except that all good😋The meal was average compare to price. However the gluten free bread with pumpkin spread was yummy
Line was crazy long to get in but moved fast. The overall atmosphere is good to have a drink outside, or even a quick dance inside. It gets busy so expect lines for drinks and amenities. Overall good place to spend a night on the weekend.
Fantastic service, phenomenal food, design/ mood is top tier, drinks came out swiftly and were superb. The pricing is very reasonable for what you get. Will recommend this place to everyone!
Such an awesome and lively atmosphere. Visited last night and enjoyed the time grabbing a beer. Tap beer is super good, you wont regret to try, a bit pricy tho. Nice place to have a night out with friends.
Was really quiet when we went, I can imagine its a great lovely place when it gets a bit later. Foods quite pricey but good. Ok drinks selection. Wheelchair accessible.
This place is a hidden gem. It can comfortably host both a large crowd and a small group. There is enough space for everyone.. literally... the area is massive, both indoor and outdoor. The interior design is simple yet stylish. Food wise, they do magic pizzas, and have a good choice of food bites to accompany drinks. The range of drinks is also very impressive.
Large place with lots of seating. Has been open for slightly more than a year now. Attracts the young adult crowd. Has a live DJ with hip music. Very hip ambience. Great food too at reasonable prices (for Perth at least). Would recommend the tomahawk steak for sharing, especially if going with a group.
Food was pretty good - quite rich. Service was acceptable - it felt like being in a restaurant that had just opened (probably hadand they’re still working out the kinks in their processes. But the staff is very friendly and eager to help. The space is what impressed us the most. We really liked how they have several different areas with different décor, depending on if we wanted to have a quieter or more lively meal or drinks. There’s apparently also a venue for groups of up to 200 people upstairs.
Market Grounds a good newish bar on a large scale open in between Perth and Northbridge in Telethon ave. Clean and fresh addition to the scene. Good friendly staff with great personalities.
The 1kg tomahawk steak is awesome, the sous vide method of cooking made it very tender on the inside. Its a huge portion that can be shared between 2-3 people. Theres also a variety of draft beer on tap. The staff were very attentive. Will definitely be back to try out other items on the menu.
Nice place to hangout. Be sure to reserve a table, gets very busy on weekends, can barely walk around the place at 9pm.Nothing great about the cocktails put way too much ice in the jugs and glasses. Food is expensive but good .
Food was amazing and there is an extensive list of amazing cocktails as well. Can be a bit crowded Friday nights. DJ with dance floor on lower level. Music is a bit loud to talk without screaming. Vegetarian options available. Vibrant place with TV screens to show sports events for sport lovers.Close to public transport. Outdoor seating available. Wheelchair accessible
Went for after work drinks on a Friday evening, very busy, good atmosphere, good range of drinks, but not really my scene.
Loved it. Went for a work lunch. The place has got large amount of space, both indoor and outdoor and also saw there was upstairs seating. Very modern ambiance.Only small criticism was the flat bread i got was a bit too tough, but the the lamb which was the filling, was cooked perfectly. My vegetarian colleagues also got a veg pizza, which was good.Edit: Went back again and had Pork cheeks. Cooked to perfection and looked awesome when it was brought to the table. Turns out there are two menus - restaurant menu and another bar menu. For lunch, we could order from both.Edit: Went back couple more times - had dry aged scotch fillet cooked medium. Was decent. Also had a Chocolate tart for dessert - was a bit too sweet. Had a meat deluxe pizza on another visit - amazing. As an overall review of all visits - the food is slightly above average but the ambiance is awesome. 5 stars.
