First timer tonight! OMG did they go out of there way to make us feel special.Emily did an over the top job of taking care of us ! Food was the best I’ve had in a long time. Also great to see young kids helping out at the tables. You don’t see that anymore. We already planned a repeat visit to try the German cuisine.

We had a bad dinner experience, Weiner schnitzel was over cooked. We spoke with the owner about the issue with the food, no positive response to our issue. We had planned on having a birthday dinner party with 16 guests for our 89 yr old mother who loves German food but based on this experience we will find another restaurant for this upcoming event. I hope you have a plan on addressing your quality issues because your not the only option here in the valley, Mark (the previous ownerwould have address this issue in a more positive way and retained our business.

Drinks and service were really good. Quality of food was really bad. Soup came out cold-no bread-no coleslaw, which was weird for a Friday Night Fish Fry. Haddock was full of bones and rubbery. Not the quality it used to be.

First timer here. Food was very good, and extremely reasonably priced. It does feel like a 1970s restaurant inside though. Some updating would make it 5 stars.Update: went for a second time, and waited 45 minutes for a couple burgers. Not busy at all. Downgraded from 4 stars to 2 stars for lack of service.

Marks is a great German place. I stuck with the traditional dishes: scotch egg & schnitzel. Both were delicious and thats coming from someone who doesnt typically like German food. Id stop by if youre in the area.@dietproof

The best place to eat for gluten free! They are celiac aware and do everything they can to not cross contaminate. My family is German and they really enjoyed the food. The whole staff is amazing!!!

My friend was up from Florida and loves perch. I heard all these good reviews of their perch so, I decided to pick up a couple double perch dinners. I almost crapped myself when the bill came. It was over $90 without the tip. I live about 2 minutes away. When we sat down to eat the perch and it wasnt very crisp. We ended up putting the perch in my air fryer to crisp it up. As for the taste, it was no better than the Hawks Nest or other bars nearby. There are better places to go for perch and a lot cheaper. I wont be back.

Yummy! Taste buds were having a party. My girlfriend and I were celebrating her birthday and I chose this restaurant. She needs to eat gluten free and they have a dedicated fryer just for customers that need to eat gluten free. The haystack onion rings were fantastic. I ordered a shrimp sandwich and my friend a pecan salad. Our meals were delicious, cooked perfectly, and enjoyed with a glass of 🍷. The friendly waitress was the best considering how busy the place was ( not a long wait either for our food to be served).

I always enjoy the food at Marks East Side and the staff has always been great! The only negative thing I could say is it is very noisy. All popular restaurants seem to be noisy and I wish they all would think of upgrading ceilings to absorb some of the noise. But seeing its hard to find another place with good food, staff and environment, Marks is a pretty good place to eat!

We had a group of 6 that went for the first time tonight! From walking in the door until we left…the service, atmosphere, drinks and food were outstanding! Started the evening with Old Fashioneds and we were quickly taken to a table where we shared appetizers of cheese curds, Scotch eggs and onion tanglers. 2 in our party ordered clam chowder and French onion soup which were very tasty! Our entrees were AMAZING!! Perch dinner, Fisherman’s Platter, French dip and 3 Ribeye Dinners! I had a gluten free perch dinner, it was Amazing, but also tried the Ribeye which was melt in your mouth, perfectly seasoned, perfection on a plate! Our waitress was Ashley and she was top notch! Outstanding, very efficient, and friendly! We stopped here to try something new. We will continue to come back because everything was incredible!! 10 STARS!!!

Trying Mark’s fish fry for the first time, this was our second visit to this establishment. Was seated immediately, which was nice. Ordered two drinks, which arrived promptly. Both of us ordered AYCE fish fry, which comes with fries, slaw, tartar sauce, and a roll. For the price ($16), it would be nice to have choice of potato, which is common at many places. Food arrived very quickly. Fish was acceptable, although not very hot and a bit dry. One of us had requested a baked potato, and it wasn’t hot enough to even melt a pat of butter. Slaw was very good, and the rolls seemed fresh. Requested one more piece of fish, and it arrived good and hot, and it wasn’t dry like the first batch. Overall, satisfactory, but not memorable. Service was prompt and courteous. 😊

The absolute most horrible service I’ve ever received. No one greeted us when we entered. When we asked if there was a waitlist and for how long, the waiter told us she didn’t know. We went to another waiter who said we could either wait for an hour and half or be served right away if we sat outside. They said that they’ll send someone out to serve us. We sat outside and waited 15 minutes. No one came to serve us at our table, however, a waitress did come out to serve another table and did not say anything to us. Honestly, this place seems racist. Beware if you’re a person of color.

The prime rib and the pan sauce were cooked perfect. The selection of traditional German dishes looked excellent but I was happy birthday that night. The cocktail waitress Liz was pleasant and efficient and managed to handle anxious customers waiting to eat with Grace. The only slight disappointment was the twice baked potato.

Very friendly staff, hard working! I’ve heard from my husband, who loves this restaurant, that the owner goes out of his way to remember the names of customers, which is quite impressive, but I’m not a German food lover so I’d not go back. I enjoyed the sauerkraut ball appetizer but my perch was overcooked. My husband always enjoys the schnitzel and spetzla.

We visited on a Saturday evening from out of town and chose Marks because they offered German dishes on their menu. We arrived on time for our reservation and had to wait a bit for our table. The place was packed. Once we got to our seats, we ordered cocktails, a round of appetizers, soup/salad, entrees, and shared a dessert. Everything was very good. The service was outstanding, every course came out hot and prepared well, and the menu had a lot of traditional options with some creative additions as well. It was obvious after eating here why the place was so crowded. Highly recommend!!

Wonderful German restaurant in Appleton, WI. We had a sampler plate of bratwurst for appetizer. Waitress recommended the German beer called Spaten Pils, a pilsner that reminded me of tasting my Dads beer when I was a kid, but never again in 60 years. So good. Very friendly and attentive servers, they wore their masks due to the Delta COVID virus which we appreciated. Beautiful ambiance with dark wood decor like a pub.

WOW!! Cant say enough good things. Our server, Sarah (on her first Friday night serving, nonetheless!!), was extraordinary and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome! And food was excellent! My steak was cooked to perfection and just melted in my mouth. I thought the price was a little high but it was worth every penny! Definitely add Marks East Side to your list of restaurants to try!

Our family decided to check out Marks East Side last night. We have 2 children, 1 baby and a 5 year old. We could not have been more happy with our experience! The hostesses were so sweet and picked out a table for us to wait at while we were waiting for our table to be ready, which was so appreciated for us with the kids. The wait was short, and we had the best server! Dealing with kids we haven’t been to restaurants in the last year, the staff made it feel like home! SO phenomenal and really went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. The food was incredible! Friday Fish was out of this world and the artichoke dip as an appetizer was my favorite ever!!We had the best time, ate amazing food, and dealt with the best people while we were there. I highly recommend this restaurant to all of my friends and family. They made dining out for the first time in a long time well worth it!

First timers to the restaurant. It was a great experience. Schnitzel was thin and crispy. Fried about to perfection. Paired witht their mushroom gravy and homemade sauerkraut made it a real special meal. So good. They were out of the scotch eggs we saw on their online menu so that was a bit disappointing but we got the crab cakes and sausage sampler in place. Crab cakes may have been the best thing we ate. My wife and i agreed. We didnt order any but saw some of the deserts coming out. Wow, huge pices of chocolate cake. Most of the croud was older. Retirement age, which probably contributed to a but slower wait for food. Retirees arent in much of a hurry. They gave us a first timer coupon for a return visit also. Nice touch.Overall it was a great lunch, i recommend marks to anyone. Give it a shot.

Amazing supper club with excellent food and impeccable service. As far as drinks go, the Brandy Old Fashion was top notch. The Grilled Sausage Sampler was more than an appetizer, it was a meal in itself! The Baked Sausage entrees were generous and delicious. The Tenderloin Stroganoff was unbeatable. And the sauerkraut and red cabbage were mild and tasty, not vinegary. The Bread Pudding was to die for! All in all it was a spectacular evening with old friends. Mark, the owner, and Lisa, our server, made us feel like family. Prices are extremely fair and reasonable. I cant recommend this place enough!πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Everything about this place is perfectly adequate. It’s advertised as a German American restaurant, but definitely more American than German. My wienerschnitzel was tender and crispy and the spaetzle was pretty good. The red kraut however was very sweet for me. My salad greens were a bit wilted but acceptable. The key lime pie was an enjoyable dessert.
