Marjorie's Restaurant - Restaurant in Castries, Saint Lucia
Impossible to get to by car and very difficult on foot as well. We tried to get here from the south and the north, trying all roads, with and without satnav. I know this review doesnt cover the food and drink from the restaurant, but whats the point if you cant get there! How do they survive? Sailors only?!
Great food
the perfect location to sit relax and enjoy a fresh fish and some of the best chips and punch on the island. local vibes here, really beautiful, ya man!
Here’s what I love about Majories…the people! Marjorie, herself, sits in her chair and shares her lifetime of stories with a willing ear. Her sons Vic and Nesto make all visitors feel like family instantly. I highly recommend buying a bottle of her homemade hot sauce (so good!and trying a small glass of Vic’s Spice (mind you don’t get pregnant ;)This whole experience oozes authenticity and is a true treasure of Saint Lucia.
Went one afternoon for Drinks and met Marjorie. She suggested we come back for a dinner and bonfire another night. Really amazing authentic food and her sons are great!! Best authentic food on the island.
Excellent bar at a great beach. Very good value.
I think this place must be living on past reputation! Its a shame because location is nice. We stayed in the resort on the same beach which is lovely but crying out for a good beach bar which this is not. We went in for drinks & food. Yo start with their are no prices, we had 3 small local beers & 3 rum punch which is served in fragile plastic cups & not much rum! Food choice was either fish or chicken with rice, we had just one fish which was dry & lot of bones. Asked for bill, young girl didnt even look but just said 100ECD, which was extortionate for what we had. Just seems they are are exploiting the tourists who make the long & tricky drive. Shame as it could be so nice if managed properly.
2 people, 2 meals and 2 soft drinks was $125ecd, the food was also really dry, the place and the staff are lovely but the food was a real disappointment
Great food (the lobster was unbelievableand great vibe. Go here for chilled out rustic beach vibes in a beautiful location… not fine dining like some expect
Had a nice time with family and friends. The ambiance is nice with the dogs roaming around parasailing and the horses on the beach. However one thing that sticks out is that there isn’t a menu and the prices are not posted. Marjorie is a very nice lady and there are pictures of Amy Winehouse on the walls, which make the place seem like a celebrity hotspot. Marjorie recommended a platter for 6 of us that consisted of a bowl of rice, small bowl of lentil a few potatoes and fried plantains along with three small fishes for 6 people and chicken and some fish nuggets. We were charged $180.00 US dollars which was very surprising, $30.00 per person and it didnt even include any drinks that we paid separately. Total rip off. This is typical at these places so lesson learned, before you order make sure you ask what they will be serving and agree on a price, so you don’t ripped off.bring a cooler and sandwiches you will have a great time on this small private beach with the locals that are very nice.
Marjorie’s place is great! Especially for a tasty vegan meal! Thanks for your hospitality Marjorie! We’ll be back 👌
We love this place!A beautiful natural beach scattered with friendly, honest, hardworking locals.Marjorie is a legend in her own right, so knowledgable and always very accommodating. We love coming here to see the beach dogs; who are very well looked after by Marjorie, her friends and family.Cant wait to see them all again soon :)
Was the worst and most unfriendly service we ever experienced on the Caribbean Islands. Little fish with mostly rice for 25 usd!! In Rodney Bay you get qualitative and quantitative far much better food for far cheaper prices in rooftop restaurants etc. The boss told the waiter to put the juice in small glasses where they normally serve rum punch in. Its a shame. Food was cold, small portions and no specialties. No recommendation!
Probably the best chicken I’ve ever had! Beautiful place and friendly staff.
Best local food on the island.Chicken is dynamite, plantains delicious and fish cakes to die for.Great beach. Good hiking short and long nearby. Friendly honest people. We have been going there year after year, and hope to continue.
Sometimes you go somewhere and the reviews just dont add up. This place sounded so good so things must have changed. Marjorie isnt cooking lunch at least, the food was awful and extortionately priced. We left feeling like ripped off tourists. The beach is windy and perfect for kite-surfing. Bring your own beers and snacks.
Très beau lieu. Charmant personnage Marjorie.
Hung out here for almost 10 days kiting, eating, drinking pitons and livin the island life!
A magic place owned by a magic person. No doubt one of the best places I have ever been in my life, thanks to Marjorie, the conversations with her, the lobster and the fire set in the sand. 200% recommended.
Great little bar on the beach! Very friendly folks and adorable stray dogs... Wish I could bring one home... 😍
Amazing food and a great welcome from the Queen of the Beach. Marjorie is an institution, and a day at Cas en Bas should be compulsory for every visitor to the island. Or every day when its too hot elsewhere, the constant Atlantic breeze makes a huge difference. Buy a beer or two and the sun loungers are free, the beach is always mostly empty save for kite surfers, and you can explore the end of the bay in the rocks.
It was amazing eating the fine cousins
Me like it a lot ere , warm and friendly, good food , great place , great people
Great food and beautiful open environment
Fully Caribbean experience. Remote location, seaside, people around, music, food it all comes well together.
I love it place of the quite , kind people and beautiful beach.
Great beach restaurant, super food...a bit on on the pricey side $$$
What an amazing authentic place. Had the best meal this week at Miss Marjories. Its a trip finding Cas en Bas beach but well worth it. Going back again before we head home.
Little oasis bar with little tourists. Beautiful beach and maybe the best in St Lucia. Shame it looked abandoned and there were quiet a few stray dogs.
