Marinara Restaurant - Italian restaurant in Brisbane, Australia
We unfortunately didnt have a good experience with the risotto marinara. It was very bland and lacking flavour. Not good for an Italian restaurant. Disappointed because our previous time there was good.
One of my favorite places in Brisbane. The best Italian restaurant! Never been disappointed here. The food score is 10/10. The hospitality and staffs attitude is 20/10 😍🤩 theyre all so lovely at all the time.So enjoyable to have a great chat with them while they serve the best dishes eva.
Great food, wine, and the service is just superb- these people know how to run a great Italian restaurant. Been there a couple of times now and driven past 3 other Italian restaurants on the way.
An absolute neighbourhood favourite! When we moved to Hawthorne our neighbours told us about this place and how right they were - everything is delicious, service is prompt and friendly with a beautiful grandmas kitchen feel to it.
Ordered the chicken penne pasta. What was delivered was pasta, chicken and cream. No evidence of pesto at all. A bowl of bland, flavourless white. When asked, the waiter pointed out the flecks of green in what I didn’t eat. Seriously? Mass produced average food.
This place is one of the best restaurants in Brisbane. From the service, to the food, to the portions sizes, to the ambience. It was perfect. Bravo!
I went here for dinner tonight with my sister and mum and it was absolutely beautiful. Our server David was lovely and ensured we had a fantastic night. We’ve now been to all three Marinaras and while they are all amazing, Hawthorne’s atmosphere and service was our favourite. The food and drinks were delightful, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
The italian is decent but menu hasnt changed in a long time and its a bit tired. Restaurant is cozy and staff friendly but they dont split the bill which is pretty poor form in this day and age
The food, atmosphere and service here are fantastic!
Overcrowded. Food just above average. One of our party only recd his main course some 35mins late. Another was served completely the wrong drinks. There was a definite lack of service quality & continuity at our table - one waiter took a request/order and forgot, the next did the same...this happened on a few occasions. Staff most definitely lacked training. Far too many different staff waiting on too many tables and forgetting things.Food, for the price, was just average. Portions very small. On the way home, we were almost tempted to stop and grab a take-away!Maybe we caught them on an over-busy night, maybe there were staff issues. Whatever the reason...our group still managed to have a good time. However, based on this experience, and when you spend +$80 a head, you expect more value. Its most unlikely well recommend or re-visit Marinara at Hawthorne.
Never go there again. Greeted by very obnoxious staff member. Birthday gathering Rushed!! bread / food was served very late. Had to ask when it was being served. One very rude staff member. After food all being late then we were all rushed to be out for next setting. None of the people at the gathering would go there again. Lots of other great!! places to spend our money.
Food was very tasty although the lasagne was very small and we waited a long time for it, Ive had it before and had twice the weight too it. Lucky we ordered a pizza as well. Service was embarrassing, they didnt bring us water, no cutlery, had to get off another table, we would have asked but the guy going to get salt and pepper never returned, just as we wont.
This one a late review but a must!! I had to plan a surprise for my partner at a very short notice. I made a reservation 20 minutes before and we were still served very nicely. I told the staff about the surprise and they executed everything so perfectly!! Everything was really good. This has always been my favourite place for Italian food but this time the staff and the service was the best part!! They even served us complimentary drinks at the end. Thankyou soo much guys! You guys really made our night memorable and perfect♥️
Beautiful place very good food and the environment remind me the warm Italy. I really liked the service, I’ve been care with attention. Strongly recommend 👍🏼
Went here with my family for a 21st. Lovely service, food and atmosphere! Ordered 6 pizzas for 7 people and still had a full pizza to take home. The staff sang happy birthday, dimmed the lights and rang a bell! Initially gave us 1 hour and a half booking on the table but extended it to 2 hours on request and were very nice when we left. Overall, a lovely experience and cant recommend enough!👌
Good food, good drinks. Staff were friendly but they made a few mistakes with getting food and drinks to the right tables.
Really enjoy my experiences at Marinara’s, was only put off a little recently. The service is usually always lovely and the wait staff will happily joke around with you, have great knowledge of the menu and are overall accomodating - great for special occasions! The wine is good and the bruschetta. I did have one experience here recently where we found a hair in the bottom of our food - no problem, we work in hospitality too and noticed it early so simply altered the staff - they said they’d organise a new plate but when it arrived back not even 2 minutes later it was not only boiling hot the actual plate like they had microwaved the same meal and just put cheese on top it and the waiter implied it was actually our hair and our fault it happened and kinda made a dig at us which was really weird for us considering the normally good service and we were perfectly polite and didn’t even ask for a new meal.
Second visit last night and I can still taste that pasta! Consistently delicious food and friendly service. The perfect casual spot for your Italian food cravings!
It felt like walking to an Italian pizzeria of the little and traditional borough. I peeked through the restaurant and found the wonderful fire place for the stone baked pizza on full power. It was not just interior design nostalgia, but also great quality food offered. That pizza was gentle, flavoured, dreamy. If you want the experience at the fullest, order a Campari Spritz to start off their wonderful culinary experience - off the menu, but they’ll kindly make it for you!Staff is also remarkably wonderful, and they made the whole stay there amicable and entertaining.
Best Italian restaurant in Brisbane! Food is always amazing, great customer service and line always out the door soo you know it’s good.Definitely a place you need to book even on weeknights it can get a crowd.
Absolutely amazing Italian food best in Brisbane. Service is fantastic and the atmosphere is great. Just like being in the old country with Mama
Delicious food and presented really nicely. It was a lovely dining experience.Meals came out quickly, and staff were friendly and helpful.I had the pear and walnut cake for dessert and it was so delicious, the ice cream on the side was also super yummy.I would definitely come here again, its a great place to go with family and friends.
Disappointing for a surprise birthday night out for my partner. We have been to Marinara a few times and after a long break of not dining there, I have to say the service was appalling. The food wasn’t as good as I remember but fine. My two stars are for the customer service and inattention to detail. Rude from the moment we arrived, being reminded multiple times about our seating time slot and only 15 mins after arrival! We had an early dinner so it wasn’t even busy. I had requested a slice of cake to come out at the end, which is their usual tradition of bringing out cake and singing happy birthday- they didn’t even do that. Attitude from staff when questions were asked about the wine and what really topped it off was the waiter for our table chucking the bill to us and saying you have to leave at 7pm and walking away. How rude do their waiters have to be to remind a person who has made a specific booking of the time they need to leave?!!We paid a generous bill, they got their money for a very poor experience. And we left on time with no issues. Won’t be booking there again.
Great Italian food and cosy atmosphere. The next best thing is going to Italy
Sooo so good! The waiters were all very pleasant and helpful. Food came out super fast and was all tasty. Got a couple of desserts for take away and they were amazing.Busy for a Saturday night but the two of us were in and out within a hour.
Having paid so much for a meal I would have hoped my family could eat together. One hour after ordering the meals were delivered in 3 separate lots, with my wife finishing hers before my son received his.The food itself was good quality, the wait staff excellent.
Poor quality pizzas and crowded. My family of four was sat at a small round table shoulder to shoulder with other people and could barely get up when leaving without crashing into another table. The service staff were lovely and the food came out quickly. Two of the pasta dishes were nice however the pizzas were absolutely awful. The quality of the ingredients was very poor and very little flavour, the cheese tasted like flour. Would not go again.
After having a family lunch here I was extremely impressed with the service, the staff, the food and the restaurant environment. The waiters were all very nice, the service was quick, the food was exquisite, there were a lot of menu options featuring authentic Italian meals and the atmosphere was gorgeous. I will definitely be returning here and recommending Marinara to my friends and family
Magnificent Marinara pasta! One of the best seafood pastas Ive had. The restaurant is a nice cosy place run by Italians, authentic Italian food, very welcoming and warm reception. They have an easy menu and serve their food in a timely manner. I also had the oyster which was excellent.
Not a huge menu, but all four of us easily found something we liked. Tailored toppings available. The dessert menu was a tray with examples. Beware, the actual portions are much bigger! The wine list was varied and the staff were polite and helpful. We didnt book, Sunday, and waited only a few minutes to be seated.
Food here last night was amazing. Service was great too.Only thing we wished is that we could have stayed longer but were asked to depart 1/45mins after arrival with 10 people at the table. Didnt get time to try the dessert 😒
The rating isnt reflecting on the staff, theyre very inattentive and helpful. However the food is pretty average. The dishes taste good and very fresh but the flavours arent nearly strong enough. First time we ordered a pesto pasta and you couldnt taste the pesto at all, following time we ordered the salmon and you couldnt taste the sauce at all just the salmon flavour. Also the menu says salmon with potatoes, the dish legitimately had 5 very thinly sliced pieces wouldnt have been even half a potato. Cant deny the freshness of the food but not sure what everyone else raves on about
Yummy Italian food, great staff, perfect service don’t miss it !
I went to dinner here tonight, I was so excited as the décor is super cute and the dishes look delicious. However, it was pretty underwhelming.First, the menus and table were dirty, which is pretty gross. Then we asked for less cheese on our pizza and the waiter said it was no problem. If he told us it wasnt possible - we could have ordered something else. But it came absolutely covered in cheese... My pasta was fine, however while I was eating it some lady started watering some plants right beside my head, without even addressing what was happening - it was pretty awkward. The worst part of the night was the weird/funky smell taste out of the water glasses. Possibly the glasswasher wasnt working properly, who knows. I wanted it to be a great experience, however was let down.
Love the salad! One of the best salad i had in Brisbane.
Food look good, but was so salty for us. Their staff just doesn’t listen to customers which means service not good. Never try again
The best Italian restaurant Ive ever been to.The venue is very cozy, the dishes are very well presented and the taste is incredible and wonderful. The food is too tasty. I loved it and recommend it to everyone.Ill be back soon!
The food was wonderful. The place is nice and it feels like you’re in Italy (even though I haven’t visited it). The reason why I gave the restaurant low rate is that one of the waiters was trying to be funny, yet he was really rude. I never ever experienced similar experience with a waiter in any other restaurant in Brisbane.
Excellent service with an Italian vibe. Extensive menu with delicious pizzas and pasta. Lovely place for birthdays and gatherings 😋 🍕 🍝
Amazing food and great atmosphere. Staff were friendly and attentive. Restaurant was VERY busy and we were served our entree and mains within 15 minutes of ordering which was very impressive. Recommend asking to sit in the rear court yard if booking as it seemed to have the best view.
Loved the decor of this place! I imagine on a busy evening it would go a long way to explaining the great reviews. However 😂 On a weekday lunch its very quiet. So quiet you can hear the Spanish music being played in the kitchen and the Spanish wait staff speaking Spanish to the Spanish chefs. So what I guess, plenty of places in Brissie selling great food with staff that arent from the foods country if origin! But this place has gone out of its way to look authentic so the Spanish was kinda funny. The staff were kind though. The food was nothing to write home about however. It was fine, but not memorable and there are plenty of good Italians in Brisbane and even this area. Weve definitely had better. It was fine but I wouldnt go back. Maybe I should try at dinner sometime though to see if thats where the great ratings are coming from.
Great service and tasty food. There is a great selection of desert so try to leave a bit of room in your stomach (which is pretty hard with Italian foodwould go again
definitely 5 stars, the restaurant looks very old, but the food was yummy& staff was very friendly as well. The best dinner at the end of the trip.
Fettucini Marinara is delicious with loads of prawns mixed with a tasty creamy marinara sauce. The pasta has one large Oyster, Scallop and Mussel all topped with a warm herbed tomato sauce and melted cheese placed around the edge of plate. Ambiance is a warm and cosy traditional Italian setting. A lovely place quality pasta at a reasonable price.
Marinara is perhaps the tastiest and most honest Italian restaurant in Brisbane. After visiting Italy 2 years ago I fell in love with their food after never having the authentic style in Australia.Marinara will give you the experience of Italian cuisine in beautiful Brisbane.I had to close my eyes when eating the prosciutto and rocket pizza. If you are a foodie, passionate about good Italian food, or just want to take a significant other for a nice date, you must come here!Additionally the staff are very helpful, and they produced a cheesecake slice accompanied by singing for my mothers birthday dinner - she was so excited.Visit this restaurant, you wont be disappointed. No photo will do the food justice.
One of the best restaurants in Brisbane! My boyfriend and I really enjoyed there. We basically loved everything, the food is delicious, staff are friendly and the atmosphere of the place is really nice. I am sure we will come back.
Everything about this place is delightful.Great food, great staff and great ambiance. The staff manage to be friendly and attentive without crowding you, like they do in some places and the food is good home-made Italian cooking.Grazie mille Marinara!!
Beautiful tasting pizza, although i was eating my second to last slice and discovered a couple of strands of long hair in my fungi pizza, eew gross i know but it was so tasty though, so that was a bummer. They waved the bill and offered free desert. I think the waitresses and chefs need to tie their hair back! Id still go back and recommend 100% as its a lovely atmosphere, great food and friendly staff. This was my second time there 😁
Amazing authentic Italian cuisine set in a relaxed rustic setting with excellent waitress, was recommended by our hosts as a place to celebrate a birthday and wedding anniversary ... the food! A+ lovely experience and highly recommend too as a first time visiting from NZ ...
An amazing place to go to get food right outside Hawthorne cinema and a park. Great Italian food for any occasion. On birthdays the hole restaurant goes quite, the lights go out and all of the staff start to sing happy birthday to you. But you need to inform the restaurant before you arrive. In all it is a very Lovley place to eat at.
