Marie Min - Vegetarian restaurant in Sagaing, Myanmar
Cozy vegetarian diner.
Authentic place with delicious vegetarian food.
Nice open air restaurant with second-floor balcony.Great vegetarian selection at a reasonable price! Nice fresh taste :)
Good place for vegetarian food. Loved their avocado lassi. Pumpkin curry was alright.
Great option for Indian food in Mandalay. Very polite and friendly staff. Many foreigners come here early evening, even than you don’t have to wait too long. Food is made freshly and as far as I can compare it’s authentic.Keep going!✨✨✨✨✨
Just had a quick dinner here. The staffs are very friendly and speak English quite well. The dishes are quite large in portion and very delicious.
gooood place:big portion for normal prices, also good location and very friendly staff ✨
Family owned restaurant above their house. Friendly service and nice vegetarian dishes. Come here if youre looking for something local, clean and tasty. People who leave negative reviews should take their entitlement to the Hilton. Cop that.
Marie Min is a long established Indian vegetarian restaurant in Mandalay. It is easy to find and quite central. They offer WiFi which was great to kill the time whilst they prepared food, as it took over half an hour to be served after we ordered. It was busy though on that evening to be fair.I found the menu interesting as they offered a good variety of pure veg dishes (no egg no cheese so no paneer unfortunately :( ).Prices for a main dish is about 4000 kyat which is quite expensive, especially given the modest setting of the restaurant, so I was expecting great food. Unfortunately it was very disappointing. I ordered a veg/tofu coconut curry (4000 kyatand one chapati (500 kyatwhich was served in a bowl. Sadly the dish did not taste very much of coconut. The coconut had turned into curd as there was too much oil. The tofu had been fried beforehand as well which made the whole dish too oily and tasteless. Looking at a table nearby, I saw a vegetable mix curry which seemed to have the same issue being submerged into oil. Also I was disappointed with the roti. It turned out to be a doughy crepe that had not cooked properly inside. It wasn’t pleasant to eat.On the other hand, my partner ordered a mix veg noodle and her’s came out ok, although she found it a bit too oily, but it wasn’t as bad as the coconut curry. In the end, we still both had a sore stomach after we left.Lastly the service was not so great. As I said earlier, the food took a long time to come and none of the waiters attended our table or paid attention to us when we waived at them. It also took them a lot of time to get the bill to tables and they didn’t clear anything on the table until customers would leave.Overall the prices do not match the service and food quality, and the Indian dishes were not great at all. I would recommend sticking to Burmese food instead until they change their chef.
Very good food with fresh juices! Good prices. They even use bottled/boiled water to prepare the food :)
This place is near to the maesod hostel so you can go and eat all Thai food . They have only noodles and stuff but tasty soup . This place is easy to find and have good reviews . Its usually no wait here they have high chairs . They dont speak English , they accept both Burmese and thai baht. I like the food.
After travelling in South East Asia for months Id say these juices are the best Ive tasted. Not that I drink that much juices but give them a try, they are awesome! Veggie restaurant with good service is allways a find!
Truly dont understand all the good reviews for this place. The tea leaves salad was average. The dish supposedly served with coconut milk was lacking coconut milk.Banana + peanut butter milkshake = banana + crushed peanuts + sugar + milk.I guess the "hype" come from the fact that its vegetarian there.
Very good food, medium price and nice quite place! The tea leaves salad is a must
Super awesome. Make sure you eat here. We ate here twice during our time in Mandalay Really quaint, family run feel (which I think it is). Food is excellent, prices are excellent, speed and service are excellent.
Not bad, but its not real Indian food. Moreover the steam rice its such a small portion.
Delicious food, especially great if Indian is your thing, or perhaps youre just keen on a vegetarian option for a change of scenery. The pumpkin curry was absolutely fantastic, as was the chocolate, banana AND peanut butter milkshake I got to accompany! I had a very happy belly afterwards... Only thing lacking here is a bit more ambience, but its forgivable in consideration of the quality of the food and friendly owners. So good, I forgot to take any pictures before I tucked in!
Tried 3 times to eat here over a 3 month period but it was never open. They just tell you to eat in the Thai restaurant opposite, which had lovely food, although staff spent too much time on their phones and not enough time serving the guests.
Went here this evening. Had the Pumpkin curry, rice, two chapatis and banana lassi. The curry was pretty tasty although not quite spicy enough for me. Almost no spice at all, however it was still quite flavourful. Banana lassi was very good. Service was quick, although could have been done with more of a smile. I would go again if I was in Mandalay. Price was quite reasonable. $6 US for everything including a bottle of water and government tax.
My wife and I ate here at 3pm and unfortunately, she vomited by 6:30pm. We had no other food that day, so it could have only been here. The food seemed fine - we had samosas, vegetable stir fried rice, and a banana pancake. My wife got very sick and I too had a bit of an upset stomach, but not as bad as she. Maybe just better to only eat at restaurants during busy times so you know the food is fresh.
Good food and cheap prices. I was worried it would be extortionately more expensive based on popularity but it was normal foreigner prices. 2500 for a soup.
Nice little vegetarian restaurant. The food is a bit pricier than normal, but it is really tasty and the portion sizes make up for the price. I got everything pictured for 7500 kyat. Also the location is pretty nice. All updoors overlooking a fairly quiet little street. I recommend the tofu and vegetable coconut curry.
The mixed vegetables curry with steamed rice and the strawberry juice were fantastic and the staff there is very friendly. I highly recommend this place!
Good vegetarian place. A bit pricey. Would be great if the waitress smiles.
Nice little vegetarian restaurant on the first floor balcony. Nice food and friendly staff but a bit pricey and overall not all that special to be honest. Worth a visit if youre in the neighborhood, but dont go out of your way to go here if you stay far away. They do accept credit cards.
Food was great! Prices are reasonable. That Restaurant isnt very big but thats fine.Milkshake was also delicious! I defenetely recommend this restaurant
It is very Regular food, definitely not worthy to travel all over the way for it. Service is normal. It is ok to go there if you pass by.
The curry is good, i tried the papaya salad which was also great and the coffee milkshake was really good. Good job and nice motto👍
If youre searching for a decent vegetarian restaurant dont go there!!We were fooled by the good recommendations (I really wonder how they got those?and expected tasty vegetarian cuisine. We ordered two curries, a lentil soup and a mango juice. The curries barely consist of anything tasteful besides ridiculous amounts of fat and deepfried tofu, while the lentil soup tastes like vegetable broth with garlic. My mango juice was served with hairs in it.You can most certanly get better vegetarien meals at literally any "normal" restaurant. We paid for our meals and left without beeing asked why we did barely touch them...The biggest mystery is how they got all the good reviews.
Always a great place to go to for top class vegetarian food. I have been there a dozen times, and each time I love it a little more.
I enjoyed the pumpkin curry and samosas very much. Service was a bit slow/inattentive even though the place had quite a few customers present. I just wish they served alcohol!
I’m not a vegetarian but this place confuses a lack of ingredients and taste as the same as vegetarian food. The curry was served hot in temperature but not spicy. I’ve tasted a lot of Indian food from all over the world but this does not measure up one bit. Try your best to avoid this place if you’re looking for a good meal in Mandalay. We actually had to go to the nearby restaurant for a second dinner because this was quite terrible. Prices are cheap ranging from $2-7 a dish but again, they lack quality.
English menu provided. Had the pumpkin curry, potato curry, cepati, strawberry lassi, samosa, and lemon honey ginger juice. Tasty and very filling. Special mention for the strawberry lassi.
Fantastic choice of vegetarian Indian food! We loved the coconut and tofu curry with chapati and lassi. The dream! Everything on the menu was freshly prepared and it’s evident a lot of care goes into cooking the food. Highly recommend for repeat visits, so you can work your way through the menu. There is also a great Thai and laundry place opposite.
Nice location on a terrace with great veggie curries. Our favourite definitely was the Pumpkin curry.
Nice retaurant, has nice indian and some local food. Pumpkin curry was really good and the lentil soop as well. The coconut milk curry with tofu was not tastey at all and tofu was oily an over cooked.
Fantastic authentic veg food. Friendly and welcoming service. Very safe and clean for tourists to eat as well as plenty of locals. We will definitely be back.
We tried four dishes. Fried rice, noodles and two typical Burmese dishes. The papaya salad and le pet thouq, which were a good experience to try, were for us, not used to this kitchen, pretty intense. You should consider to share those meals.
Our taste buds were in heaven when we tasted the delicious food of Marie Min! Endless vegetarian choices of Indian food with a Burmese twist. We had to go back twice and also ordered take away for our bus ride. The staff was very accommodating and spoke good English.
We ate two times at Marie Min. It is a little more expensive but it is definitely worth it! You should definitely try the vegetable curry with coconut and the banana lassi.
Very good vegetarian food. All vegetables are washed with boiled water. I can highly recommend the tomato salat with a taste of nuts.
Very good Veggie Options. Had the Tomato Salad and the Coffee Milkshake. Coffee Milkshake was very, very good. Tomato salad above average as well. Very good service and quality free WiFi.
Ate here 3 times, good portion size and good veggie food. First 2 times were great, 3rd time it was really busy and the food was a little greasy but it did come out quickly to be fair to them. Staff are friendly, full of tourists.
Ate here twice during our stay in Mandalay. The first night we thought the food was amazing. The second night was still great, but the curry was a bit bland and there was an intermittent power cut.Highly recommended the tea leaf salad and the pumpkin curry. Both were amazing. The price is pretty reasonable (~3500 kyat per curry at time of reviewbut side dishes do seem a bit pricey if you want extras.Overall I really enjoyed the food.
One of the best vegetarian/vegan restaurants I have ever been to, anywhere. Such a shame we went there on our last night in Mandalay or else we would definitely have gone back again! Wide variety of dishes, perfectly cooked, relaxed environment, quick and friendly service. Loved it.
Amazing and delicious food! A good varieret for vegetarians and vegans and very tasteful. Some of the best weve had in Myanmar. Prices might be a little higher than average, but is totally worth it!
Healthy vegetarian restaurant with really friendly staff. Prices are a bit higher than normal but only by a fraction. If youre looking for a break from noodles and Burmese meat curries then this is your spot.
Loved the pumpkin curry and fresh lemon juice. Prices were good at around 3000 Kyt/main meal. Nice quiet location to get away from the bustle of Mandalay.**Location is on the north side of 27 and not where currently shown on Google maps
Good selection of vegetarian dishes with Indian twist. Prices in line with average clean Burma restaurants. Hard to find since theres no access from 26th street, you have to come from 27th.
Good value for money. We went there twice and always enjoyed it. Curries were our favorits. Want to point out the quiete area while sitting outside which is not so easy to find in Mandalay.
