A truly beautiful church. Felt a lot of sadness when I saw Jesus in the grotto. This church has a healing vibe, you feel so calm and mindful while there.

Amazing and prayerful church, surprisingly warm temperature inside although it was very 🥶 outside. Only sad thing was the graffitis all over certain statues of the saints ☹️

Mariastein Abbey is a Benedictine Monastery established in the 17th century. Because of the Marian Miracle in the fifteenth century there was a Marian Shrine whose caretakers became the Benedictine Abbey. Thus Gothic Church conducts Organ Concert on holidays, Sundays and Feast days. The beautiful and powerful organ play could be listened to quite often and I had the opportunity to listen yesterday evening. It was such a fantastic experience. The Grotto of Mother Mary created in the caves of the Jura Mountains is most beautiful and prayerworthy. Lots of people visit the place and as thanksgiving place commemorative plaques. Mother Mary bless us with your immaculate and compassionate heart.

Its great! The grounds are amazing. There are hiking trails as well. The monastery grotto hewn into rock was very moving. The walls on the way to the grotto are covered with Thanksgiving plaques. There is a shop where the Abby sells home grown veggies and products. Its lovely and worth a visit

Beautiful monetary!This place has plenty of parkings.I went there a few times already with small kids (1.5yrs and 4yrsand they also had fun walking around.There is an separate entrance to visit Chapel (half way of underground wayand all the way down is a quiet pray room.Public toilet available.It is small place but very relaxing 1-2hrs visit with small kids.

Religious or not, it is worth a visit. The sanctuary is outstanding and you will certainly feel emotional by the miracles testimonials. However, there is no wheelchair access to the underground chapel.

Church with adjacent underground Grotte (chapel in cave). The church is dedicated to Mary. The story is that a family used to reside in the cave, and that Mary appeared to save the little girl from falling of a cliff. There are beautiful paintings inside the church depicting this, as well as other Gothic decorations.Nice surrounding area as well.

Beautiful church and gardens, especially the restaurant in the park is nice.

Absolutely beautiful. But it has a lot of tourists, so dont expect a prayerful environment.

Mariastein Abbey is very holy place where I am Regularly going for Mass. Everyone will understand and experince the holy Viberations that exist when you visit that place. I suggest everyone should visit this holy palce

Beautiful place with amazing view. It does have a crypt in a cave and beautiful surroundings. A castle ruin is close by. There are hotels and shops in the same village and enough parking spaces.

The place is something special you fill in your mind peace

Worth the trip from Basel to here. The bus which takes you from the station to church is not very frequent. So I decided to walk up the steep slopes. Located amidst farms and trees all around. Good shop outside of it. Has a praying room at the basement which you reach through a tunnel.

So peaceful and calm.

A most beautiful complex of several buildings with a pretty road through an orchard leading towards it. You can go inside and look around or sit. Lots of sculptures and detail.
