Marché soumbédioune - Market in Kaedi, Senegal
The best place to see African art and handicrafts,
Cool place... Affordable price (after negotiation 😏)
Stinky, dirty and expensive...
Everything there is overpriced. Better send a local to make purchases after you scouted items you want.
Nice
Great place for Senegalese artisan goods and souvenirs. The best stuff is hidden within so dont settle for whats close to the street. Be ready to bargain - the correct price is 1/2 to 1/3 of the first price given.
FST
Interesting local shopping stalls, with a wide variety of goods.
Nice
Good
Cool
Great shopping
Nice
Nice stuff but prepared to bargain
Nice place for shopping
Got the best of African Print ,sculpture and amazing art works here, also very affordable if you negotiate properly..
Local market in the down town dakar
Cool spot. Go down to the beach for local grilled fish and cheap drinks
The Senegalese people are a beautiful people and their talents are beyond me! 2 of the many pieces I bought. If you can handle everyone calling you to buy something just do it!
Fish at its best nature
Good selection of curios & souvenirs at decent prices
Theyre a little bit aggressive. But beautiful pieces
Descent traditional fish market .... you need to know how to talk to the peoples or they will overcharge you... so its better to go there with a local like that they will help you talk to thems for anything related to the price....
place to be if you want to eat good fish
Fresh fish
This is a major collection of local shops. It is a REAL experience of shopping locally. Lots of local artisans. Lots of shops selling products made elsewhere. If first time THEN best experienced with a trusted guide.
Great for pretty little mass produced souvenirs. Same items are sold in all the markets and wherever tourists go. Many nice things but almost none are handmade by artisans.
African fish nice food
Some souvenir you can get here and you can bergain it
This is the number one street fish market. Go around 8pm. The best time to find luxury fresh fish without the heat of the day.
Cool
Bags, art, craft, clothes and mementos are in abundance here. If you can, go with an indigene friend that will help with negotiations.
nice place to buy fresh fish
Good Fresh Seafood: daily catches
Fun bit of local color. The market can be an overwhelming experience if you arent used to markets in a third world country but is well worth a visit. Lots of locally made crafts and crafts imported from elsewhere in West Africa. The vendors are friendly if a but pushy. You will be everyones friend and they will all make you a special deal that you cant tell anyone else about. And you will get to take home some reminders of your time in Senegal. The vendors always pay special attention to the kids and they will often go home with a trinket or two as a gift from a vendor from whom you are buying. Lots of fun.
Good selection of local crafts although some of the stall owners were a bit too pushy.
I love it. This fish market made my day. Excellent product and varieties
For all art and culture lovers. If you are in Ouagadougou take time out and stop over.
You can find almost anything from food to beauty products.
Nice place to get some fresh fish...
One of the oldest market in Dakar. Fresh Fish and seafood always available
Although it isnt very clean, Marche Soubedioune provides very good fish at a reasonable price.additionally, their sea food (mussel, oysters, urchinsare so tasty 😍
Excellent fresh fish. You have to come after 5 till late. Fresh fish is sold on the beach and on the stalls. They will clean it for you. Grilled fish is available at the far corner to the canal. Dont worry about the canal. Its fresh and clean. If your choice is not among you buy it and they grill it for you for a small fee. I love the grilled oysters and mussels. You can buy prawns, tiger prawns lobster and shrimp. Some women sell vegetables and salad to complete your dinner. At the petrol station opposite you can get wine.
Examples of hand art work of Senegal taken in art village near the cornish.
This is the best market in Dakar. It has a wide selection and is not as pushy as some others. Some vendors are grabby and insistent, and wont take "just looking" for an answer -- walk away from them and reward the professional ones. Instead of trying to get the lowest price possible, think about what the item is worth to you and negotiate to that number. And if you cant come to an agreement, just leave. Its your money, so spend it wisely, but be willing to pay a fair price - they have kids to feed just like you.
Wide variety of goods, typical African craft market with some gems if you care to explore. Sharp sellers. Be prepared to bargain.
Just a few of the vendors are very aggressive. Pls do the world a favour and do NOT buy from them. Plenty of nice ones to buy from.
Very good market for buying fishes and African handicraft items
Also called The Artisans Market by some. Bring someone with you who knows what prices to pay otherwise you will get ripped off. And definitely buy a meat stick sandwich on the way out!
Very colorful sea market!
