Diner using produce from its own urban farm project in dishes from meatloaf to tuna-salad hoagies.
Came in for lunch after getting in to Philly and dropping our bags off at the Loews hotel. Service was reasonably quick given that it seemed like they were understaffed, but the food itself was delicious- the toast on my Rueben and the chicken on Nat’s salad were both delightfully crispy. We also got a matzo ball soup that was decent but by no means a must-try.
From ordering to exit everything was wonderful. Friendly staff and food was absolutely delicious. While waiting for my food I had the pleasure of watching how seamlessly they operate. My next visit will be dine-in I was so pleased!
The food was alright. Nothing over the top. Maybe add more vegan options. The atmosphere was more like a diner, which is pretty cool . The service was good.
We were visiting Philly, and had a train to catch. We stood for a few hours, and had some drinks, and the food was solid diner food.If I lived there, Id definitely be a regular.
The Mac and cheese needed salt. The shrimp tacos tasted like soap. I wasnt impressed by the gazpacho but it would be a good cold snack on a hot day. The tortellini was pretty good and the salmon had a nice presentation
We had a very poor service experience. We had reserved a table ahead of time for brunch and once we reached , our table wasn’t ready for 15 mins. The staff had no explanation and just asked us to wait. Once we got our table, our server very rude and unhelpful and seemed to always be rushing away elsewhere. The food itself was pretty good but our entire experience was very poor due to the bad service. Hope they can improve on that aspect. Especially because it isn’t a very cheap place to eat at either. The decor and the seating were nice and comfortable.
I ordered way too much for one person, but everything was very good. I started with an iced tea, which was a very good brew. Mostly places give watered down iced tea, but at Marathon the drink is very dark and actually tastes like tea. This is very rare. I then had the Crispy Calamari, Elijah’s Mac+Cheese, and the turkey club. The calamari and Mac+cheese were both amazing. Every bite made me what the next one even more. The Turkey Club was just average. I was already full by the time i made it to the club, and had to remove all the bread and just eat the bacon, turkey, tomato. Everything served was fresh, and you get a lot of food for the affordable prices.Very impressed with this place. Simple, convenient, and affordable. Service was fast and friendly. If i lived in Philly, i would be a frequent visitor.
Visited on three separate occasions and all times food was really good. As expected lunch time gets really busy so plan accordingly.
All I can say is amazing!!! Please if in Philly visit, dine and enjoy!!
A great place to stop for lunch and watch the busy world pass by the windows!
Love this place. I worked in Philadelphia for several weeks and frequented Marathon Grill for both lunch and dinner. The food is great for a very reasonable price. I didnt order anything I didnt love. Highly recommend.
Had a late breakfast with my sister and it was fantastic. Food was great and the staff was very helpful in correcting a mistake. Drinks were awesome!
Its a greatly small restaurant but it serves well just like the staff. Though having a small aspect it has a great aesthetic and a very neatly done performance that all the staff have acquired. Id rate this restaurant a 10/10.
I ordered this from Uber eats when I had COVID. Chicken noodle soup, cheeseburger, and Cobb salad. Broke my fever and felt better from then on. Thank you Marathon Grill! That chicken noodle soup is so chunky and dense. And the cheeseburger was so good. The salad also was quality.
Food is Sooo Gooood!!! Very healthy and high quality ingredients. My favorite is the grilled salmon with smashed potatoes and asparagus with whole grain honey mustard. Worth every dime
Casual little sister to the Rittenhouse Marathon location. Same fantastic menu, but the seating and the vibe is a little more diner like. I came in with 5 co-workers after a work function. We were shown to a booth, and they pulled over a small table and 2 chairs to allow us to fit comfortably. I ordered the blackened chicken quesadilla. It was large enough that I did not think I could finish it, but tasty enough that I did anyway. The blackened chicken pasta (huge servingand the brisket were also excellent, according to my tablemates. Service was solid - no complaints. If you are looking for great food, and dont need the fuss of a fancier environment, this is the place for you.
Absolutely, freaking, incredible!!!We, 24 of us, have come to the city from Alaska 🗻to Florida 🐊 on a trip to celebrate our parents 5️⃣0️⃣th wedding anniversary💍. It came to dinner and our original planned dinner failed. 🚫 We were looking for a place that could take us in. It was proving to be a challenge until we got a hold of Marathon 🏃🏼♀️ Grill. They welcomed us in with open arms!As if this wasnt awesome enough 😎, our parents have food allergies and so since they didnt have any desserts 🎂 that would accommodate them, while we were eating, our waitress, Delaney, found a bakery that had some 🍪🍪 that they could both eat for dessert. 😯❤️Our service never missed a beat and the food was truly AMAZING! 😋😋😋It just really made our night and will be part of the experience we will not forget.Thank you so much!
Super delicious! Everything was amazing! They were kind enough to take in our party of 24 people! Delany was our waitress hero! She was incredible and took great care of us! Best dining experience in Philly 👌
I ordered from grubhub, the food was great until I was chewing my burger and noticed something that was hard. It seems like it was glass or something. The food was really good but I was just concerned on what I found in my food.
Excellent pork chop, ask for extra sauce! All sides can be customized as well.
Great food and great service! Had my brother grad lunch here and he loved it. I got the grilled herb chicken with mash and vegetables. It was very nicely seasoned. We also had the calamari and hummus for an appetizer. The pickled veggies that came with the hummus were so good. The calamari was fried to perfection we had to get seconds. Highly recommend
This place never disappoints honestly. Drinks & the food were good, as always and our server was polite and timely. I always love this spot for people watching too!
Always delicious, fresh, hearty portions. This place should be studies for a place well run. Kudos to the managers , cooks, waiters. I have never had a dBad experience eating here.
Food was great. Staff were friendly, vibes of casual/ upscale casual
I dont know what word to use but great!!! Me and my friends decided on this restaurant just from walking by and hearing the music. Really fun. The food was really good I really tried to save some for later but it was hard. I havent had chicken parmesan in a while and Im glad I had it and it was actually a good dish from a great restaurant. Like I said before the music is what brought us to the restaurant because we could hear it from outside. The music was jamming and the atmosphere and the people that work there were really good. Anytime we needed something brought to our table it came and it was not a long wait. If you are visiting Philadelphia make sure you stop by this restaurant with your friends are family. FYI BE HUNGRY
I love that Marathon has brunch/breakfast all day. The food was incredibly tasty at a very reasonable price. The staff was friendly without being overbearing. The atmosphere is casual and upbeat, and well decorated. I enjoyed my visit. My only small complaint was that I wish they took Discover Card- but I just use my other card when I stop by.
I was in town for a conference and we dropped in. Great food and service. The salads are delectable and so filling. The atmosphere is cool as it is very open. Id return for sure.
I thought the food was pretty decent, no complaints on the food. However, I am visiting out of town and I am perplexed by the entire WHITE waitstaff, even the hostess. The kitchen is diverse, but that’s where it stops. Maybe all the Black, Asian, and Hispanic people took the day off? :/ Won’t come back for that reason.
The service was fantastic. The food was beyond delicious. I had the pork chop on the bone and it was fabulous.
Nice atmosphere. Good food. Not too pricey. Good kids options.
What a coincidence, great place to have some breakfast before heading out to our race (Philadelphi Marathon). Offer indoor and outdoor dining with patio heater. Ordered the Benedictine eggs and quesadilla and it was delicious. Highly recommended to full you body before or after the races!
My husband and I had lunch here. The food was very good. Service was excellent as well. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed. If in town again, Id definitely return.I had the grilled Salmon and mashed potatoes, starting with a house salad with avocado Ranch. My husband had the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich. It was good & the fries with it were perfectly cooked.
Nice fun outdoor restaurant in the heart of Philly. We ordered the salmon burgers.. they were good.. if you want great Noyo Harbor in Fort Bragg California is the place to go!
Met my wife at Rittenhouse Square after work. After looking at Google Maps for dinner locations, we decided to walk around and see what looked good. We walked one block when we came across Marathon Grill. There two sections of outdoor seating looked appealing and the menu looked great. There was a variety of options to choose from and many sounded delicious.I ordered a sauvignon blanc from the waitress and the wine was from New Zealand. It was delightful. The brisket was good, I especially loved the crispy shallots and onions. The gravy could have used a bit more flavor. The burger my wife ordered was also tasty, particularly the barbeque sauce. Whats most appealing is that they use local ingredients. Staff was friendly.Bathroom finder: walk past the bar and try one of the two nondescript black doors.
Pretty typical American grill fare. Service was good but food quality is a little lacking. Their “Greek Salad” is anything but a Greek salad - mostly lettuce filler with two little grape sized tomatoes sliced in half, a tiny bit of diced cucumber and feta cheese sprinkled on top. Fries are a little soggy as was the bread in the brisket press sandwich.
Shared a buttery plate with a fly and found it the helpful deterrent. Added syrup: He stopped begging at my plate. Banana pancakes were perfect texture and yummy! Bacon tasted fresh and no drippy grease. Eggs were done over-easy and lifted nicely on top of my pancake stack. The floor mopping worried me to the point of giving my napkin to a puddle neighboring a table of elderly patrons. Good waitress!
Great service and the food was pretty good but not amazing. I had the 18hr Brisket sandwich which was realy good, tender and had lots of flavor. The side caesar salad was wilted so I asked for fries instead but they were a bit disappointing as well.
Nothing special, but the food was good, nice sized portions and the staff was friendly. Our server made an excellent extra spicy Bloody Mary!
Can always count on marathon for a good meal, drinks and atmosphere. They have breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. Service is good and food comes out quick. Prices are reasonable too .
We ate outside near the fire lamps, loved it. The calamari was delicious along with the dipping sauce. The blackened chicken tortellini was everything, they used a tomato based sauce instead of white, good job. The gin cucumber martini was smooth and refreshing. The blackberry margarita was sweet, a good choice to mask the tequila, not weak at all. I sampled the chicken tenders and they were nice and juicy. I gave five stars because the food was good and we had waited awhile to be seated, with reservation made, the owners came over at different times to apologize for the wait. Our server was really good at putting in all of our orders and having things brought out in a timely manner. Great Job!
My friend and I came here on a whim for brunch as we were in the area and it was pretty nice. Very casual place and the service isnt bad but it isnt great either... They took away my drink without even asking if I was done.. the food and coffee was really good! Id recommend brunch here
Our food was delicious and reasonably priced, especially for downtown Philly! I was very excited to see an extensive list of dinner specials. The staff were the friendliest people. Definitely recommend! Perfect date spot. Plus they served us very quickly as we were headed to a Flyers game after.
Decent place, came here for lunch. It gets pretty busy so expect to spend at least an hour. Over great experience, for myself Greek salad with shrimp and coffee. Both were great.
First time at Marathon and I was not disappointed. Our waitress Lauren was amazing. Very polite, professional, and checked on us quite often which I like. The food was spot on from the appetizers to dessert. Some of the best Ive had. The strawberry cream shake was the best I ever had. Great environment, great location. If I had to critique one thing is the seating is a bit close. Other than that great place and I highly recommend stopping by.
...been going to Marathon for 25 years, starting back at their original location, but I think this one is my favorite one ...it has a casual atmosphere, like a restaurant and a diner combined, the food has been consistently excellent, the staff has always been professional and very cool, and the prices have remained reasonable ...plus its a great spot for people watching because of the full length windows all around! (they also have outdoor seating)
This is my second time coming here and i haven’t been disappointed! Great food with a relaxing atmosphere! Every meal I’ve had here including my friends have all been amazing. The service was a little slow but worth the wait. They also have a great drink selection. Definitely will be coming back with more people soon!
Went there for lunch with a friend of mine. Upon arriving we were kinda standing there for a while waiting to be seated. I understand when things get busy but none of the other employees acknowledged us or told us to wait to be seated or anything. Both the person seating us and the waitress seemed uninterested when helping us as well. We got the sampler which had chicken fingers, calamari, cheesesteak wontons and sweet potato fries. The wontons were good but for some reason the cheese whiz came with hot sauce in it which ruined the experience a bit. The sweet potato fries and the calamari were our favorites. The chicken fingers were really good as well but very filling. We were pretty much full after eating the sampler. Their fizzy drinks tasted like tap water. We ordered the vegetable capellini pasta with added herb roasted chicken and the make your own burger for the main dishes. Both were very average if not below average. The pasta is a good option if youre looking for something light but the chicken kind of dragged it down for being so dry. The marinade however was very flavorful, I just couldnt enjoy it because of the dryness. The burger was also dry. We requested it be cooked medium and while it looked cooked perfectly it lacked any juiciness and the char grilled flavor overwhelmed everything else. I think the sampler might have been the best dish of the day. Very average. We had to wait around for almost an extra hour to get our check and get the payment through. And for some reason they dont take discover.
What a cute place, I loved the earthy vibe. They have ample seating for big groups or just yourself. Open kitchen is visible while standing, I enjoy being able to see the cleanliness of the kitchen. The menu was big so you have many options including gluten free and vegetarian dishes. My friend and I both enjoyed our farm fresh food.
Breakfast on a Sunday morning. I ordered the bacon, swiss & tomato omelette with a salad as a side. A salad! what a great option instead of potatoes! The omelette was delicious and the salad dressing was too. I asked what kind of dressing it was and I was told it was a vinaigrette dressing, it was white, creamy, not heavy cream, dill taste, my son said it was made with yogurt tool! I would buy it if they bottled it! Nice atmosphere, Watched the world go by as we ate. Prices okay. We will definitely return our next visit in town!
Incredible food, light casual atmosphere. All 5 of us LOVED our food. My Mom is still craving more of the calamari haha. Waitress and the waiter she was training were both awesome. Will be back again when I visit family in Philly!
