Mango Guesthouse - in Aswan, Egypt
I had a great time in Mango guest house. Room was perfect and clean. The manager is nice. Thanks for everything!
Mango Guesthouse is located in the middle ofElephantine Island within the Nubian community. Ehab, theowner, is very helpful and tries to please in every way.Guesthouse staff are friendly and always available to help. The structure is very good, clean and new. If you want tohave an experience close to the Nubian community this isthe best place.
Incredible accommodation! The staff make this place a 10/10. They went out of their way to accommodate our needs. They assisted us with many trips/activities at very reasonable prices. They upgraded us to a bigger room that was available and the rooms were very clean and had good air conditioning.
Good service and friendly staff, welcoming and relaxing environment, and good value for money.
Just stayed at mango this week. 10/10 would recommend. We came to Aswan in the early evening and within an hour of texting, we were in a room on elephantine islandsClean lovely rooms & bathrooms w hot water and good water pressure, staff was super responsive and extremely kind ( especially to me when i got sick on the day of my departure.)Would absolutely return
Absolutely recommend!! Super friendly staffs and clean room (like you can smell the washing liquid of the bed sheets). Had my amazing experience here for four days:)
I can only recommend you Mango Guesthouse : peaceful, clean, agreeable people and owner (Ehab). I truly didnt want to leave. It just feels right to be here. The room we booked had a huge bed, a couch, a private bathroom, storage space, AC and a small balcony.
Staying at this lovely guest house for two night. It is super clean. Better than expectation.
Highly recommended! Warm welcome, free coffee and tea, clean room, wonderful breakfast, and super host.Dont think any longer, just go visit Elephantine Island, and book this place.
We had a great time here and where really happy that we stayed on the quiet island. Clean and lovely place to stay. Must go 🙂
A quiet oasis after Cairo. The food was good, and the staff was great! The in-house dogs made me smile & feel at home. Would highly recommend these accommodations!
Cosy hospitality, beautifully decorated house, nice location, spacious bedroom. The team was delightful, and Elephantine Island is a place to meet bagpackers ! Special thanks to their two dogs 🐶
Exceptional stay, warm staff who help you with every need, clean, modern and nicely decorated rooms
The mango itself is a nice place and has a beautiful garden to sit in. There were a few things that bothered us. First of all they put us in a other room than we paid for. The one I booked was more expensive. Also on the website they advertised with AC but when we got there, the room had only a fan. So it was really hot in the room. The last thing was that we took some beers from te fridge and they put an extra one on the bill. For the garden I would definitely stay here, but not for the service and agreements.
you’re better off staying somewhere else. got a room w no AC, although advertised+booked with… flagged issue to staff but they don’t speak English. owner came up with plethora of reasons why there was no AC. Anyhow, if you want to haggle over what is “fair” with the owner, on your precious days off - by all means book ahead…
We had such a unique and amazing stay at Mango Guesthouse for our two days there. I think there may have been a bit of a miscommunication as we initially had booked a room in the guesthouse but when we wrote to confirm, it seems the space was filled. Nonetheless, Ehab (the ownerand his wife were able to get us into a studio apartment a short walk from the guesthouse. For us, it worked out, but the main guesthouse or the houseboat may be the better options if you desire more of a hotel/hostel environment, as this was legitimately an apartment that seemed to be used when not occupied by guests (we were offered the houseboat, also, but chose the apartment). We felt like we were really living in the village. The premises are clean, the staff is friendly, and breakfast is DELICIOUS! Honestly, my wife and I agree that those are the best falafels we have EVER had. I forgot the name of the one staff member there (Mohmoud?but he works almost non-stop from morning until night and does it with a smile on his face. He welcomed us late at night from the ferry to show us to the apartment, and was up serving breakfast the next day after only 4 hours of sleep. The gardens are beautiful and the town is so friendly and authentic Nubian. Highly recommend.
New room but without AC - spent the WORST night of my life at 40 Celsius degrees inside this room. We checked out one day earlier because of that. I asked three times the staff to change room but they would not understand or react - as they barely spoke any English, which I would understand for some of them but there needs to be at least one person with some basic understanding and communication skills when you run a guesthouse aimed at international travelers. The owner called from Denmark when we said we’d check out one night earlier and offered the one night we’d not spend there back. However the explanation on why our room did not have AC was not good - he claimed that it was a brand new room and they were supposed to install AC the week earlier, but that did not happen - however given he had been knowing that for a week he could have sent us an email earlier so we could plan accordingly. I do not recommend this place. The reservation was made at the name Krikorian and even if the owner is claiming that we were not that this is another lie on their side….unfortunately this place cannot be trusted.
Defenitly the best place to stay on the island. Very clean, good breakfast, nice garden. Unfortunately I could only stay 1 night as the place was fully booked the next day. The owner was not there and this caused some trouble with the staff. The main guy present was quite rude and it was hard to communicate.I spent the whole day looking on the island for accomodation with a bit of clean standard. After seeing many rooms I know for sure mango is the best place
A wonderful place that exceeded my expectations! Everything was great there, from the fantastic hospitality and smiling faces of the staff to the very well furnished clean rooms and comfortable beds. I felt right at home the moment I stepped foot inside! The garden outside is gorgeous as well ☺️ Rooms were clean and comfortable.Due to our late train we could not afford to go to Abu simble but the Ehab were generous enough to help us extend our stay in Aswan.Ehab arranged the Abu simple trip for us which was really a great experience, they even packed breakfast for us.All other staff are very friendly and makes sure, you are happy. For Dinner, we had went to Ashry Toky which is a cool place and the food is also good.Elephantine island is very unique, and the place is surrounded by nature. But at can be very quite at night so try to go out at night only if you really needed.Staying here again is definitely something I would consider if I had the chance.
I truly loved this place and was quite sad when I had to leave. The place is really nice Abd clean, the people there are very friendly and super duper helpful, and overall my stay there has been fantastic. Also, Bobbi (the dogis definitely one of the bestest dogs out there. She was our guide every day and we will definitely miss her.Would definitely recommend the place and will be going back there soon.
Great hospitality. Very homely.Very clean hotel, room and bathroom. They organise trips to Abu Simbel and other tours as well for residents.Best guesthouse on the elephantine island in Aswan!
The highlight of our 4 day trip in Aswan. Elephantine island is very unique, and the place is surrounded by nature. The owners were super helpful with everything: tours, pick ups, info...I would definetly stay here again if I have the chance.
Amazing Guesthouse!I was in other Guesthouse in Elephantine Island, but this one is really a good one!! Its super clean! Rooms are always clean and comfortable! Food is also good! Staff is really kind and the owner is really helpful and gentle!
Exceeded my expectations this place! Everything is just right there, I felt at home as soon as I got there from the people’s great hospitality and smiling faces to the very well furnished rooms and comfortable bed and bedding! Loved it! The garden outside is gorgeous as well ☺️Moreover, the breakfast was really tasty and filling. I ordered lunch and dinner a couple of times too and was really happy with what I got.Totally recommend 😊
Beautiful guesthouse on a cozy little island (you can go to mainland with a cheap public ferry for only 5EGP). The rooms were very nice and the garden was really beautiful! Also the two Nubian villages on the little island are worth a visit, the people living there are very friendly and since there are no cars on the island, it feels very peaceful. We booked a boat trip with ‘My dream Felucca’ (you can easily find Eddie and his Felucca on google maps or booking.com). Eddie came to the guesthouse to arrange all the practical stuff. Our felucca boat trip started next to the Ferry station. Delicious food is served in the Bob Marley Restaurant which has beautiful rooftop teras with an amazing view in the Nile (5min walk). We can highly recommend this place!
Absolutely brilliant. Perfect rooms, kitchen, very kind master with a good English. Beautiful garden, roof view. Highly recommend!!!
Nice guesthouse and friendly atmosphere.Ehab, Ali and all other staff are very friendly and makes sure, you are happy.Place is on elephatine island, but you can move easily with a ferry to aswan city.I highly recommend and would stay there, when i visit aswan again
We loved everything about the Mango Guesthouse! The room was spacious and very clean. It had lots of storage space for our things and a little table where we could sit with tea or meals. The was air-conditioned and we always had hot water in the bathroom. All of the public space in the guesthouse was very clean. There is a fridge where you can store your own food or drinks and you can buy water and beer on site. The garden was beautiful and so nice to sit in.All of the staff were welcoming but Hamada was especially welcoming and kind to us. He ordered food for us and took us out on a boat to the Tombs of the Nobles and the Botanical Gardens island. He also set up a day trip to Abu Simbel for a reasonable price so we didnt have to figure it out on our own. We definitely recommend staying here at the Mango Guesthouse if you stay on Elephantine Island and, honestly, if you stay in Aswan you should stay on the island. It is quiet and the Nubian people are so friendly. I cant recommend it enough.
Amazing place, the rooms are beautiful and very clean, the owner is very helpful in what ever you need.We had great time there and the garden is very green and well taken care of. It feel good to have a green place to rest on the hot days.Thank you so much for the time 🙏
The guest house was very comfortable, we liked the quiet location and the small garden. There has been a selection of drinks to purchase as well as a menu. We didnt eat a meal there but the choices looked great. The staff was very nice and attentive. They arranged the trip to Abu Simbel and packed us a breakfast box. We appreciated the possibility to wash the clothes in the washing machine. We recommend staying in this place.
Staff was super friendly! I think we never had so many great mangoes in such a short time. They just pick them up in their backyard. Our room was very clean, a nice kind of basic, it had everything you need for a short stay. They helped us with airport pick up and travel arrangements to Abu Simbel. I loved sitting in their beautiful garden, sipping tea and reading a book.
Absolutely the BEST place we have ever stayed. Treated us like royalty and we wanted for nothing. Skip staying in Aswan and come stay here on Elephantine Island.
This is really good Nubian guesthouse. Owners are helpful and kind. They can help you with the luggages, or help you to order food. They can speak English and Arabic. The house and rooms are clean, and there is a coffee and tea for free to drink. They also can make a trip to Abu Simbel, Nubian village or tombs and the botanic garden. Just ask them. They are ready to help. There is a garden so you can sit and eat breakfast there. There is also place to sit inside the building or the rooftop to have a look at the island. To get to the Mango you have to take a ferry. Is every 10 minutes. Paid by cash. There is a sweet dog called Bobbi, he is really friendly and likes to play.Next time if i go to Aswan i will go to the Mango again. Recommend!!!
The room was nice and clean, I loved the outside design of the hotel with the beautiful garden, smell of the fresh mint and flowers. This hotel looks like from fairy tale, fantastic. However, I strongly believe that the owner should put more attention to food and staff. Of course all the staff was very kind, nice and very helpful however the potential of the hotel is much bigger. I definetly would love to go again in that hotel and I would recommend to my friends but I would not eat or have a breakfast in such of place. In the kitchen they must to improve a lot the cleanness, organize well all the items and buy few little things, a small investment what can improve a lot the overall of the experience. The staff should learn little bit more english, to be able to understand well a request, otherwise there is really hard for them to understand what the customer needs, in that way they will avoid any big errors. Communication is really important in the hospitality, and yes I know is really hard for them and all the situation but slowly slowly with very good directions from someone who knows they can improve a lot in small amount of time, and its gonna be more easy for them to do their job and all guests are gonna be more satisfied. Thank you Mango Guesthouse and I am sorry for being so direct.
I booked the wrong dates for this place and Ehab was very accommodating. We stayed one night before being moved to a nearby apartment because the guesthouse was in fact fully booked. The guesthouse was very clean and comfortable and the $3 breakfast was good enough. All hot drinks are free, the WiFi is good, the garden is a lovely place to hang out.The apartment was also great. Mustafas family own the apartment and it was very spacious and comfortable with full kitchen, and Mustafa was very helpful and accommodating. He took us to a few shops on the first day so we could cook for ourselves and be charged local prices.Dont hesitate to stay at either place, and especially dont hesitate to stay on Elephantine Island. Such a blissful oasis of calm in crazy Egypt.
Me and my friend stayed 2 days in Mango guest house. We had an amazing stay. The room is clean and comfortable, and the views of the Nile from the terrace on top are amazing. But what was specially remarcable is the friendliness, smiles and helpfulness of the staff. They seem to be genuinly happy to help with our requests, organise tours and try to make our stay more comfortable. Thank you very much.
Cosy guesthouse on Elephantine Island, 5 min walk from main ferry to East Bank. Homely vibe and a good place to meet fellow travellers. Staff are very nice, although limited English. Rooms good size, strong wifi and nice communal garden at the front. Would stay again 👍
The best place to stay in Aswan. The Guesthouse is very clean and the staff very helpful and kind. We arrived there without booking and it was full but we really wanted to stay there so they quickly found a solution and found a place to stay for the first night. The garden is lovely and the breakfast very tasty. There is also a cool dog to play with!! See you
Many thanks to Ihab, the owner of the place, who was always available even though he was in Denmark at that time. He helped us organise an excursion to Abu Simbel and gave us some tips on visiting the city. He also offered us a free upgrade, but we were quite content with our room already. The place is quiet and clean, the staff are very helpful. Highly recommended!
The absolutely best is staying on the island! Before booking, we considered it might be better to stay in the city, where the action is, where there are more things to do and see.But the fact is that the city is not pretty, it is dirty, noisy and theres people trying to get your money more than we could handle in one day.The island on the other hand, being also dirty, is a sea of peace and tranquility, with beauty hidden in its narriw paths and run down (or unfinishedbuildings, with lovely people that start to open up when they see you a couple of times. If you havent thought about it, consider staying an extra day to wander on the island and get lost in both villages and in between. If youre lucky and Bobby and Blanchette (Mangos Guesthouse pet dogslike you, they will go out and show you the way. The views from the West side of the island are particularly interesting throughout the entire day, but magical during the sunset. The owners of the guesthouse (Puk and Islamare amazing people ready to help you (or just have a chatin everything they can. The rest of the staff (let me mention Ahmed in specialare also professional, extremely polite and friendly. The coziness of the guesthouse is great, with the garden and seating areas organized in a way that encourages the conversations between guests, but also allow you to seat on your own if you prefer that. All in all, it was a great experience and a pleasure to stay here...Highly recommended!!!Its true that the building is not finished and the services and amenities provided are not many, but this is a guesthouse, not a five stars hotel! What they do offer is so much more, that these irrelevant things are quickly forgotten. When you arrive at Aswan, make sure you take the ferry located next to the KFC...Our driver didnt know where the guesthouse was exactly on the island and left us in the dock further South, which meant we had to walk quite a distance, carrying the bags, through narrow, unpaved roads between the two Nubian villages. Also, if you plan to go to Abu Simbel in an organized tour, remember that the ferry only starts to operate at 6 am and that most organized tours leave Aswan earlier in the night. The Mango Guesthouse offers a boat service that can take you to the city side, but thats an extra step and it might be hard to coordinate/explain with/to the tour operator that you want to be picked up next to the ferry. Our solution, get a private car and driver to take you there, leaving around 8/9 am. It will be faster, more comfortable and chances are there will be less people since most will be leaving by the time you arrive at Abu Simbel.
Comfortable bed in a large, clean bedroom. Friendly host who helped us plan a trip to Abu Simbel, arranged pickup from the airport, dropoff at the train station, and packed us a lunch to go. Wonderful little garden, friendly dog. It was fast and easy to get back and forth from Elephantine Island where the guest house is located and the main part of Aswan using a cheap, frequent ferry that was only a couple minutes walk. The village was interesting, giving a glimpse into a different sort of life. There were several traditional restaurants nearby. Loved it!
We absolutely loved this place. So peaceful and tranquil. Lovely air conditioned rooms. Kafana was so helpful. We arrived early in the morning after the hotel collected us from the airport around 7am and our room wasnt ready so he kindly let us sleep in the staff bedroom. Amazing place highly rate. Thank you all the staff at mango guest house :and poppy the dog :)
The great reviews are right; the Mango Guesthouse is exceptional. We arrived reasonably early in the morning, happy to drop our bags and go exploring and were looked after immediately, shown our rapidly remade, immaculate room and left to relax.Any plans to go exploring evaporated quickly when the calmness of the place washed over us. We had three days there, so there was no need to rush around and we got to enjoy sitting in the lovely garden, drinking cold, well priced beer, chatting to a fellow guest and listening to the donkeys and sheep outside. Our room was large, well decorated, comfortable and cool, and the rest of the house is clean, well decorated and comfortable.Ehab and Puk are perfect hosts. They made us hugely welcome, offered great advice, organised good, very well priced tours and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we wanted. Breakfast of eggs, fresh fruit, coffee and delicious homemade bread is a great treat. The guest house is in the centre of the, very rural feeling, village on Elephantine Island. There are no cars, motorbikes or other motorised vehicles, so the narrow dirt paths between the houses are the preserve of locals on foot or on donkeys, and of livestock and cats. You will see on the pictures that there is building going on to add more bedrooms upstairs. This won’t disturb you if you are out and about sightseeing during the day and it didn’t feel like a building site in any way. Also, don’t be put off by the fact it is on an island; it is super easy to get back and forth, a a lovely short trip too.If you are comfortable in downtown areas, surrounded by 5 star hotels, this may not be your scene, but even in this case I would say give it a go. The value for money of this place is incredible and Ehab and Puk are generous to a fault. They were being so generous and kind that I felt embarrassed to not be paying more. Really. After 3 weeks in Egypt, this is a million miles away from the majority of the normal tourist experiences we have had. This, on top of the fact they are both really lovely people made us really fall in love with the place. I felt more comfortable here than pretty much any 5 Star hotel I have stayed in and onLy wish they could clone themselves in Cairo. They are ably supported by Hamada, who escorted us to get a mobile phone ‘top up’, drove us to the airport, ensured we met with our car in the morning and generally helped ensure we could want for nothing. I smiled from ear to ear as we went to the airport in his car, singing Bob Marley classics. The icing on the cake is the two lovely dogs who will join you in the garden. If you are coming to Aswan, want peace and quiet in a truly welcoming place, stay here. It is an oasis in every way and you will love it.
Such a beautiful guesthouse! It’s wonderfully quiet and the beds are comfortable so you will sleep like a baby. It is easy to organise trips to Abu Simbel with the staff, I think we paid 350LE per person for a shared tour and they set it up within 10 minutes of us asking for the next morning. Ehab could not have been more wonderful, and all of his staff (and his dogsare such beautiful people. At the moment there are not many rooms but I am excited to see the second level and rooftop when it is completed! (On that note there is NO construction noise, so don’t worry about that :)
Stayed there for 3 days with my girlfriend in September. Some of the nicest/kindest people I have met in Egypt. They are very accommodating, and do everything they can to make you feel welcome. They can set up any tours you may need, and can even organize boats to/from the island at odd hours (3am one day, 430am another day).
We had a great time at Mango! Beautiful new room and garden on a really nice and peaceful island. The owner Ehab took great care of us and even invited us on his boat along with his dogs to go swimming at a nearby beach! Would definitely recommend this place to anyone!
This place in wonderful! Wonderful hosts, beautiful rooms, delicious breakfasts....the hosts were so helpful and accommodating. They were so kind. I’ll never forget staying here, it was such a wonderful experience. The island is beautiful and the guesthouse is one of a kind. I truly recommend this place.
This guesthouse is run by a Danish lady and her Egyptian partner. When we got there no one was home so we sat on the porch and patted the pet dog (theres two dogs). Theres a nice vibe here and the room was very comfortable. The room was quiet and dark and the mattress excellent! Wifi was a bit slow at peak times. A shared indoor outdoor kitchen to make tea or cook if you like.
This is a really cozy and comfortable guesthouse. The host is helpful and friendly, and will help you arrange transportation or tours to keep you from getting ripped off in town. The breakfast is delicious, consistently fresh and local. There is a patio area in the front of the guesthouse which is great to relax or meet other people traveling. The island itself is very peaceful and relaxing, and the ferry to get over runs just about every 10 minutes, so you never have to wait long. Overall a wonderful visit, which I extended multiple days just to stay at this place for longer.
I have been to this idyllic Nubian island several times. Yet, arriving at the Mango Guesthouse was an unexpected wonderful surprise. The house is decorated in the Nubian style but has all the conveniences of modern living. The owners, Puk (Danishand Ehab (Nubian), beside being very friendly and helpful, keep the place immaculately clean, I will add, to European standard. They serve delicious meals with a smile. One can dine in the privacy of ones room, or on the veranda looking at the cozy garden and surrounding colorful Nubian houses, listening to he neighbors goats and donkeys Well, I did like it.I stayed there 3 nights. looking at the face of the other guests, it seems that they did like the place as well. They felt being home. Some even helped with the cooking.I will definitely stay there when I come again to Aswan. No doubt.
