Traditional Thai cuisine served in a casual, long-running restaurant with white tablecloths.
We absolutely love this restaurant and always have. Havent been for a while (since before covidbut nothing has changed, it is still absolutely awesome. The food is delicious, the service is fantastic and the prices are very reasonable. Overall absolutely wonderful!
Was here a date ... loved the experience
Dinner there on short notice & not disappointed. It was pretty full but the staff happily found a table for 4 after a short wait. The food menu was quite comprehensive Thai based & everything was to our liking. The waitress Urana was lovely & although busy she was attentive to our needs. No problems
Food was great drinks were cold, service was a1 wouldve liked a little more on the plate for the main meals. Would go again and I do recommend that you try this place if youre interested in a change.
Always amazing food and service A+
They dont take orders over the phone. The online order system doesnt work. We did not eat here
Just left restaurant disgraceful behaviour from the male manager . Never been so offended in my life. I have lived over 20 years in lorn and have never been spoken to by anyone in this manner. Disappointed that his behaviour is condoned or accepted. Will not be returning . If youre under pressure and a team member is making excuses for your behaviour, then maybe access and hire more staff or not accept bookings ! 7:54pm 21st May.
The restaurant has a quaint, old world feel to it which appeals to me. Being seated at the front, looking out across the street to similarly aged buildings complimented the ambience inside the restaurant. The waitress was friendly and chatted with our table creating a welcoming atmosphere. The menu has an impressive variety of dishes. I found the selection we made was prepared exquisitely, served promptly and tasted divine. I will recommend this Thai restaurant with no hesitation and will look forward to returning on my next visit to Maitland
Meals were not that great, apart from the Massaman which was good. Had a 40 minute wait from ordering, then an additional 40 minutes once arrived to pick up. Ive eaten in previously and found the food quality didnt improve.
We had a very long wait for our meals & one meal didnt arrive at all but the food that came was really nice
Absolutely beautiful as alwaysEvery dish was fresh, tasty and cooked to perfectionLovely service/staffHighly recommendedYou wont find any better 😋😋
Great Thai, consistent quality and friendly staff
Ordered a chicken and prawn cashew nut. Both dishes were tasteless and very disappointing.
A great Thai restaurant. Brilliant food reasonably priced and great service.
Our favourite Thai in Maitland. Doesnt make you feel bad after you eat it like some other take away places. Always so fresh and tasty. Great customer service too 😃
Very over rated, food is good but the prices are a bit rich for Thai food, a good place for that special occasion, if you dont mind paying.
Very good food, reasonably priced.Praise God for a good night with my wife.Remember all, to see the kingdom of God ye must be born again...jhon 3:3
Absolutely shocked with my service last night when the owner asked my partner and i to order MORE food or leave. This is after we had placed our order which we believed was very much sufficient for both of us.(Note that the resturant was taking walk-ins and was not busy at all!)We were both definately not expecting such apauling service and will not be going back to a resturant with such a cheap management despite its reviews.
Great service. Comfortable homely setting. Good food.
So I was going to leave myself leftovers but that was impossible! My massaman curry was just insanely delicious, I couldnt leave a bite. Thank you so much for my scrumptious dinner and for the kind hospitality my partner received in picking up my order. Cannot WAIT to get this again 😊
I had crying tiger and it was really delicious!!!
Loved our experience at Maneeya Thai! Entrees and food came out fast and quality is amongst the best Thai food I had. Great place to go out for a quick meal or a nice formal dinner. Curries are amazing and food tastes fresh. Thai desserts are usually pretty average but extra points to Maneeya for having delicious and creative desserts. Highly recommended and can’t wait to return on our next trip to Hunter. Friendly staff as well, thanks for a great night.
This place had a lovely setting with great ambience. The food was great however our experience was less than pleasant. We arrived at 6:30, and waited an hour and a half for our mains. The entrees arrived at 7:30, and we didn’t get mains until around 8pm. One from our table had to chase his main as it hadn’t arrived with the other mains 15 minutes later. The server, instead of tracking down the main meal, decided to argue the point with us. He got angry that we had mentioned our long wait time in front of other customers and tried to justify the delay because we had ordered entrees. We did not ask about the missing meal in a confrontational manner however the server certainly made it seem that way when he returned to our table after we had gotten the meal and further pushed his point that our wait time was acceptable. To make matters worse, a couple that had arrived AFTER us had already received their entrees and were onto their mains before we even got our entrees. The bill included two sides of rice we ordered but never received, which we had to explain and get removed from the final bill.I can understand it was a busy night but that sort of wait for food and then attitude made the nice food much less enjoyable.
delicous thailand food. 5 star for great food n good services. worths the time eating there. recommend for thai food lovers.
Beautiful food, great atmosphere. Will be back again! The chilli fish and the massaman curry are as good as youll try. Cheers,
We had an absolutely wonderful time here, delicious food, friendly staff, great service. The food here is excellent, tasty and authentic. Highly recommended. A great variety of Thai food and delicacies. Definitely with the visit, good idea to book on Friday and Saturday nights. Very popular!
Spectacular Thai, not much else to say, Leki, Sacha and Ousna provide amazing service and it is by far the most flavoursome and enjoyable Thai in the Maitland area. If you are in the mood for Thai and dont stop past its your loss. Personally Ive been many times and have never been dissapointed, cannot reccomend highly enough.
Totally terrible food and how they get away with calling themselves a Thai Resturant its a dishonesty to the Kingdom of Thailand and even the waitress who insists that we are here 26 years and we are great Thai Resturant. Now having lived in Thailand since 1997 and i am a Chef the food is jus discussing.Ok UPDATE; we could not eat the lamb or the Dry Chicken Satay, so we said we are not paying for those two dishes. The lovely hospitality of the arrogant muslim chef and owner was to call the police. They would not even come to the table to discuss it with us they just took all the dishes from the table so there is no evidence that we left 95% of the lamb and called the police.Amazing that they have the ashes of the customers that they dont like on the counter and the non Thai attitude.Your reply to this shows you could not lie straight in bed so could not be bothered wasting any more than the second it took to write this!!!
We had the banquet (min 4 people), mixed entrée and a mixture of mains. All of it was delicious and the five of us were all full and very happy. They do BYO so the ladies brought wine ($5 corkage). We will definitely come back here again. They also do takeaway.
Customer service, I mean what customer service? Absolutely appalling, we have visited many a time over 10 years and waited for 10 min to be served as they served people that came in after usNever be back awful
Everyone loves this place, it’s ok but food isn’t as tasty as I think it could be. Had better tasting Thai other places
Tried to order takeaway over phone sat evening . Gentleman answered and passed me to lady who was unhelpful and struggled to take an order ( a large one!I was told ‘ no prawn curry ‘ at which time I decided to go elsewhere . We have eaten there before so know food excellent but need to sort this out
A great Thai experience. When I arrived it was a bit busy, a very good sign. Good menu with dishes for all tastes. Chose curry puffs and jungle curry, very hot, the way I like it. Excellent food and excellent service, highly recommended.
Really enjoyed the food. Well presented. Great Service. Very supportive of large group.
The food is always delicious no matter what you order, a little pricey....Staff are always happy and friendlyOne of our local favourites
Best Thai in the hunter. Amazing fresh food with beautiful smiling service. The chefs special and chicken and cashew are our favorite but every dish never fails because it all tastes so good. Price is cheap for what you get. Amazing!!!
The owner of restaurant had really bad attitude, he doesn’t know how to talk had very bad experience. We paid full amount didn’t even we get our food which we ordered.
We had a lovely dinner, staff very nice, food delicious at a good price and the place comfy and warm. Well come back ♡
How disappointing!we made a reservation and we arrived 45mins late. They cancelled our name.Fair enough, the blame is on us.We ordered tom yum, garlic beef stir-fry and mixed vegetables.Tom yum was just water with some flavouring.Garlic beef stir fry was just beef-stir fry with garlic garnishing and vegetable stir fry was ok.For a thai restaurent to stuff up on the tom yum is an unforgivable mistake. We can only judge on the dishes that we tried. So based on that,we will never return again nor will we recommend this restaurent to our friends. However,if you still want to eat here,it is advisable to make a reservation. It appears the chef has decided to tone down the taste to cater to the locals. If you are from southeast asia, there are other better thai restaurents in Newcastle.
Nice friendly and timely service. The restaurant is well presented and in immaculate condition.Staff are friendly and helpfull and the food tastes as good as it looks, yummy!Great place for couples or small groups.
Very nice Thai food, highly recommend! Only reason its not 5 stars is cause their tum yum soup isnt quite as flavorful as Id like it. I dont mean its not spicy enough, I just mean it doesnt have enough tum yum flavor. Their pad thai is off the hook though, so is the chicken cashew, and everything else Ive tried, delish!
Delicious authentic Thai.Highly recommend their Massaman Curry.Could offer a bit more on the drinks menu but fortunatley you can byo wine. Will easily become a fave in Maitland for those new to the area.
As far as thai resturants go they were average. Cramped and noisy it is hard to talk. Prices do not equate the quality of food. Quick service though.
RE: Dylan & Hunter ReynoldsDylan:Thank you for your review. We regret you did not have a good experience at our restaurant and endeavor to improve for next time.We appreciate your feedback regarding the quality of our food. However, it appears there has been a miscommunication. The particular dish referred to the waitress was Chicken Satay Skewers. She did not say that we “can’t cook Thai food” due to an inability to acquire ingredients - she meant that we do not serve it like it is in some particular regions of Thailand, where smaller amounts of chicken are used on longer skewers (most likely, the style you are accustomed to). Instead, we serve it as a main-sized dish with larger pieces as stated in the menu, and so charge the price of a main-sized dish. This does not compromise the quality of the dish; it merely alters presentation and suits the clientele.________________________________________________________________________Hunter:As in Dylan’s review, there appears to have been several miscommunications. We regret you did not enjoy your Lamb Dish and Chicken Satay Skewers, but are confused why you did not take our offer to replace/swap the dishes when you expressed unhappiness with them. At this point you were obligated to pay for it as it had been partially consumed.Dishes were removed from the table as per standard restaurant practice when customers have finished their meal.Authorities were called only when you refused to pay for your meal. The call was later justified when the owner was physically pushed. We are unsure how the chef’s religious orientation is relevant to this matter. We appreciate if you would refrain from leaving any more voicemails that are unrelated to our service. We apologise for any animosity this unfortunate scenario has produced. All the best,Maneeya Thai
The best Thai around. Operating since 1991 this family owned and run restaurant has never disappointed me. Whether dining in for a special occasion or simply grabbing some cheeky take away on a Tuesday night, the high level of customer service and consistently high quality food keeps me coming back time and time again.Highly recommend the mixed entree, make sure you use the lettuce leaves to eat the larb (minced chicken).
By far the best Thai restaurant I have ever visited. Great service, incredible food that arrived very quickly, and all at a modest price. Will definitely be going back!
Consistently great Thai food, perhaps one of the best Thai restaurant in Maitland area. Try the Jungle Curry if you have the stomach for it! It was one of the hottest curries Ive ever eaten.
The service was good. Its a friendly enviroment as well. The food was ok, I think it needed more flavour , it was just lacking in taste a little bit. Id still go back.
I ate here twice; once with just the wife and once with another couple on Valentines day. Both times the food was very good, even though the room does feel very dated and under-lit, and not in a good way either. The choices in the menu are larger than I would imagine for a place in East Maitland, but this was a welcome surprise. The staff are ok, friendly enough, but certainly not professional waiters.I think this is the only game in town, and taking that into consideration, they are not doing too badly!Worth a visit if you fancy thai and you are in the area.
Walked in with two friends, early on a Friday night, without a booking, but the staff handled us fine, placing us at a table. They didnt have ginger beer, but they did have diet ginger ale. The dishes were well described, arrived quickly, and tasted great. As the restaurant filled, it was a bit noisy; there were no sound deadening hangings or ceiling tiles.
