Manduševac - Fountain in Zagreb, Croatia
Nice hot water near-earth fountain.
You can sit here and chill.
Place rich of history and rich in coins of almost no value. Walking past it, average person would see just an ordinary fountain, but real habitant of Zagreb sees monument to the origin of the city name, and a reminder for its rich history. You should definitely drop a coin in there for good luck.
Youngsters bathing- cooling in the fountain

Christmas time. Its a must to see 🤗
Despite crazy times… there is still ‘this time of the year’
Thats some fine fountain youve got there.

Beautiful
The old love story between a beautiful local girl and a soldier.
Famous well which was used by Manda in the early history of capital Zagreb
No problems at this location....
Perfect
its a fontaine by which Zagreb, at least by the old tale, got its name. the young girl Manda, hence Manduševac, came and grabbed, or in croatian zagrabila water from it... and thats practicaly the whole story :young, mostly young ppl, gather here.
This is the main square of Zagreb. Some of the coolest kiosks and local sales stands happen here often! Its such a great place to buy souvenirs and local products. I love the cheese and honey stands the most haha!
Great
It is beautiful!
Legendary Zagreb fountain, the story of which gave Zagreb its name....
Pretty small for a swimming pool, however, I see many young people take a bath there every year around the start of summer season :)
Super!
Super
Super
Manduševac used the locals as a source of drinking water a long time ago. Today there is a beautiful fountain in the center of the city. ⛲
Super
Nice 🙂
Infamous Zagreb fountain based upon the legend of a girl named Manda, who helped one knight who was thirsty by saying "Zagrebi!" which means "Scratch!", and when he did, water started pouring out of the ground, and in the girls honor the fountain was named Manduševec. It is too believed that Zagreb gained its name from that phrase, as Zagreb in Croatian literally means "the scratched place".
The most famous fountain in Zagreb. The legend about Zagrebs name is linked to story about this fountain. Located on ban Josip Jelačić square it is one of the main tourist attractions in city and most of the guided tours around old town are mentioning the story about Manduševac.
Its beautiful, so Christmassy ♥️
Interesting spot! with a nice view towards the cathedral.
The Manduševac Fountain was built above a natural spring that provided Zagreb with drinking water right up until the end of the 19th century. There is also a legend connecting the spring with the name of the city.Namely, one sunny day an old Croatian war leader was returning from battle tired and thirsty, and asked a beautiful girl Manda to scoop up some water from the spring for him.The Croatian word for “to scoop up water” is “zagrabiti”. So the spring got the name Manduševac, after the girl, and the town got the name Zagreb after the scoop of water.A good meeting place for people today in the centre of the town, also gets fully decorated during Xmas n other festivals. Definitely a small place with big position in history of city & country.
Nice fountain.
Have to visit Zagreb in winter
Historical place related for the name of the city of Zagreb

It is a common belief that dropping a coin in Manduševac fountain will make your wish come true. Another idea in circulation is that drinking water from the fountain puts a spell on you which makes it impossible to forget Zagreb for the rest of your life.I didt forget Zagreb, but also didt taste water from the fountain :)
Nice historic place.
Great place to relax and watch pigeons.
Beautiful fountain in the centre of main square!
The stuff of legends of the citys birth.
The Manduševac Fountain was built above a natural spring that provided Zagreb with drinking water right up until the end of the 19th century. Court records about the persecution of witches mention the spring as their main meeting point. There is also a legend connecting the spring with the name of the city. Namely, one sunny day an old Croatian war leader was returning from battle tired and thirsty, and asked a beautiful girl Manda to scoop up some water from the spring for him. The Croatian word for “to scoop up water” is “zagrabiti”. So the spring got the name Manduševac, after the girl, and the town got the name Zagreb after the scoop of water.
I just love this place. 😄
Great atmosphere, especially around holidays
Beautiful, make a wish! :)
