10001 Minaret Rd, Mammoth Lakes, CA 93546, United States, Bishop
Year-round ski area offering 3,500 acres of terrain for skiers & snowboarders of all ability levels.
This ski resort lived up to my expectations. Wow they have plenty of trails to choose from beginners to the world class skiers .the lifts were nice no problems there. I strongly recommend to ski an visit during the week if possible other wise the wait times for lifts can or will be long.plus I recommend getting the ski in an ski out condo parking is taking care of. I give my allotted 5 stars for a well organized resort an friendly staff employees very knowledgeable about what trails they recommend to you its there expert opinions an I appreciate there help
This is the place to go if you love to ride mountain bikes...Super awesome trails, all different levels of trails, from beginners to expert.Just watch out for yogi.
DO NOT BUY YOUR TICKET ONLINE!! We bought online same day. When we arrived, they informed us they were closing early. We had 15 mins to view then had to leave, as we werent skiing. And since we were departing Mammoth, we could not use it the next day.The gondola ride itself was fine.
Easy drive from LA. It gets pretty crowded at times. Some snowboarders come down pretty fast at the base so watch out.Lines are base could move more smoothly with better instructions from the staff.
Excellent, closing the season out and the Mountain Staff is doing a great job keeping up what we have left to play on...
I have been coming to Mammoth Mountain for about 20 years. Was a founding member in the MVH pass club. I really enjoy this resort. I bring my family and friends here. First off, there is a great amount of terrain to explore and ski. Plenty of beginner to advanced runs. The main bases with rentals/food/merchandise: Eagle, Canyon Lodge, and Main Lodge. The Mill has food/merchandise. Yolder Restaurant and Bar is located next to Main Lodge. Havent stayed ar any of the hotels. Mostly stick to Motel 6 type hotels. Favorite area to ski is from the Mill. Large parking lot close to the lift. From there you can access Chair 5, 3, 23, gondola. McCoy Station is the middle at the bottom of chaor 3/face-lift. My daughters learned to ski her. Group lessons are good in the beginning. Private lessons help focus on fine tuning your abilities. Ibhave used both. Instructors here are amazing. They are top shelf compared to other ski areas in CA. They have a very long ski season usually. I skied 2nd weekend of May. A bit warm, but able to get in 3.5 hours each day before it really softened up. I highly recommend coming here if you are new to skiing or want to get in some fun days of skiing.
Great snow & many other activities especially in summer. Today, May 3, 2022 was classic spring skiing.
Mammoth kinda has it all. Even in dry spells their team does a great job making it fresh. As with all corporate ski resorts these days I hope they stay with the times and increase pay, benefits and ease of housing.
Beautiful view and our kids enjoyed so much!
Came here last weekend and we got a winter storm with 20-25 inches of fresh powder! The resorts offers various of trails: trees, moguls, wide piste, etc.The lift to the upper part of the mountain often close when there are strong winds. Also, the easiest way down to the base area is a blue black if you’re not taking a gondola down.
The big mountain for ski , they have big canteen , hotel, nice restaurants around there very nice place for ski eat and relex
Had an incredible time in MammothBoarding was Epic. Caters to all levels of Skiing or Snowboarding.Get up and Go Board!
Love it, super great area to ski, green, blue, black blue, diamond, double diamond, all, plus plenty of lifts, gondolas, etc. Plenty of eateries, great snow, some not to great, depending on old/new snow.
Absolutely beautiful ski resort. Tons of runs. Seemingly well maintained chair lifts. Excellent customer service from all of the staff. Multiple locations to hangout while riding. One place that was particularly cool was The Outpost at the back of the mountain by chair 14. The MeltHouse is the main building in The Outpost and they have gourmet grilled cheeses that sound amazing. They provide free water and ample seating. There is even a mini bar. There are a ton of cool places like that all around the mountain. Another place I enjoyed was The Mill. They served delicious tri-tip chili and other really great options. The gondola takes you from The Village almost up to the summit and has an incredible view at the top. Mammoth also offers an incredibly convenient and efficient public transit system that goes all around the entire resort and covers most of the town. I was very impressed with it. The conditions were decent when I went but Mammoth is known for getting tons of fantastic snow throughout the season. One of the days I was there, there were extremely strong winds and most of the chairs had to be shut down. I heard the summit had winds up to 180 MPH. The cost of lift tickets is extremely high in my opinion but I can see why based on the amount of effort that is required to run the ecosystem that is Mammoth Mountain. I would highly recommend going to Mammoth at least once.
This is by far the best mountain Ive been to in the California area. They were well organized with their lifts and lodges. The snow and skiing was tremendous. There are many, many lifts and different runs to go down with lots of different skill levels. All of it was so much for my group and I. Even though it is expensive, the experience is worth it if you ski a lot. It is beautiful at the top as well with views so far as what we are pretty sure was Yosemite.
This place is so cool! If you enjoy to ski with a beautiful sin and weather, this is your place. Also, they have an amazing apres ski, the dj is a bomb! If you want to attend that, I would recommend Friday because sunday is completely packed!
So far my all time favorite resort with so many different options for skiing - will be coming again and again! The place has perfectly groomed trails, with a variety of options (from skiing in the woods to vertical drops). The lift locations make sense and its easy to get from a lodge to lodge even though theyre in various parts of the mountain.
Been coming here since I was a little kid so this place brings back a lot of nostalgia for me. Not only the resort itself but also the drive up with my family from LA county. These last few years it’s just been with the usual suspects and also my new lady. With the ikon season pass, you come out here a couple days and your really get your moneys worth since lift tickets here are crazy expensive now. As with any resort, my complaint is that sometimes the ski lifts have long lines but this is a massive mountain so as you make your way to the top lifts, the lines are generally smaller. Keep in mind that since this is a huge resort, it’s very easy to get lost so I suggest downloading an offline map on your phone. Also, be aware that if there are heavy winds, they will shut off the gondola that takes you all the way to where the Dave’s run signage is. This doesn’t happen very often but it’s not uncommon. This is a good place to bring family as there are all sorts of runs for any skill level. In addition, I’d recommend getting a ski in ski out condo so you don’t have to worry about finding parking.
Mammoth is the mountain that if you know about it, you ski it. Great grooming, higher elevation brings better quality and more snow, friendly staff and decent lifts. We spend a week here every year and love it!
If you have a top third, middle third, bottom third ranking, not everything can be in the top or middle. Mammoth is bottom third of major resorts for sure. I feel a junior version of Big Sky is a good way to describe. Larger acreage that wraps about 2/3 of the way around a mountain. As of 2022, the lift stock is very outdated and well behind comparable resorts. Only 2 new chairlifts in the last 18 years. None in the last 10. Only one 6-seat chair. They are in need of replacing old high-speed quads with 6s, 8s and "chondolas" to reduce lift lines. Back to junior big sky, they have a gondola to the top as well but lack the "extreme" terrain. They have some but its less extreme than other places. There also seemed to be far few expert skiers and more intermediate and beginners as the double black runs were almost empty despite huge crowds. As is the case for the Sierra Nevada resorts, its feast or famine in terms of snow. You can get 10ft or you can have zero inches recorded in January. Finally, this resort has a high percentage of snowboarders to the point that it apparently caused problems serious enough that the lift operators had to limit it to two snowboarders per chair due to frequent lift stoppages and injuries. With all those weaknesses, Mammoth does have one clear strength, prevalence of sun decks and weekend DJs. If you want to go to a place to ski a little, party a lot, this might be the place for you. Interestingly we did not meet a single other person from outside CA. In fact, we only meet 2 not from SoCal and we did not meet a single local on the mountain. All around a substantially different resort and clientele then is typical in UT, CO and other major destination resorts.
Good mountain with lots of different trails for various levels of experience. Many trails are groomed nightly so it is always nice to hit the slopes on softer snow daily. The downside is that on the weekends its gets really busy and the lines are long, so save your self some time and go on the weekdays if you can. The lift ticket prices are astronomical so buy in advance if you can, the other issue is their lift ticket scanners at the lift dont work half the time so thats the only reasons for the 4 stars.
First class ski resort. Best California has to offer, hands down. Recommend going midweek as the weekends are very crowded.
Awesome ski resort. Snow is typically deeper and better than any resorts in the area. Lifts run smoothly, they take safety very seriously. A great mix of smoothly groomed runs for beginners and intermediates, and some adventurous runs for the experts and thrill seekers. Staff is friendly and fun. Amenities are great too.
My favorite ski resort and the best in California, Mammoth Mountain is an extensive resort including variety of trails for starters and professionals, if you’re into black diamonds don’t miss Dave’s Run
I have never experienced fresh powder before today! The winter storm brought plenty of fresh powder! Fantastic day shedding the mountain! I’ll be back asap
Beautiful experience of Gondola to the mammoth mountain at 11K feet .The views of the snow capped mountains from the gondola are floorsweeping .We reached there at 9 in the morning but managed to find parking 40 min later down the hill .Its that packed . Took their shuttle to reach the gondola area
Bike park is amazing, lots of different trails. Highly recommend!!! Below is a picture of the top of mammoth mountain. The next is June lake
Visited on feb 27. It was an amazing experience. Road trip from Roseville to mammoth. Must visit once. Ticket price is high on peak season.
Mammoth has it all, great runs, quality snow, party atmosphere with massive crowds. EVERYBODY and their brother knows and skis/rides Mammoth. 🤙🏼❄🤙🏼
First time skiing mammoth, and I have to say this it truly amazing. I barely got to go through the whole mountain. But I got a lot of it and definitely will be coming back and with more people without doubt. Great jumps and free funs.
Mammoth is an incredible mountain with diverse terrain. Everything from parking, lodges and lifts are extremely functional. As far as snow, this is a west coast mountain and it very often get dense/ wet snow. Not a bad thing at all just different than the fluffy snow in Colorado. Highly recommend a trip here for any snow sports.
Visited on 28th. It was a beautiful journey from roseville to mammoth. Amazing scenic view. It was very cold. We did gondola ride. Start early so that you can ride N number of times. We booked ticket through online(bit pricey in California):Free bus facility. Clean restrooms. Sanitized.
One of my favorite ski/snowboard locations on earth. Theyre very strict with Covid safety, but as long as youre smart, follow the rules, and dont try to push any buttons, its still a lot of fun.The gondola is so fun and if youre not too experienced theres a very easy route you can take the "upper road runner" route down. No need to be afraid up there. Beautiful views.Absolutely worth it.
Disclaimer: We did not have the chance to ski here but the place came highly recommended by a former ski instructor and friend. It was very busy on this Saturday in Feb 2021. The lines for parking were long.
Mammoth Mountain is just about the perfect place for any skier or boarder! When the whole mountain is open, there is a dazzling variety of slopes and terrain. From beginners paradise, Eagle Lodge, to the experts only upper mountain, there is a slope for every skill level. Similarly, Mammoth has one of the best terrain parks in the nation, infact multiple, perfect for beginners, wild thrill seekers and everyone in between.Mammoth has 4 lodges with quality food and drink options, as well as multiple smaller ski in-ski out locations. With 3 different lodges to start from, free busses and the Village Gondola, accessing Mammoths bountiful slopes is simple and easy. When driving to mammoth, road signage is clear and concise, leaving no chance of getting lost. However, at Mammoth you can experience longer lift lines and limited parking during holidays(pst: ride the bus). In addition, over half the mountain can be closed due to wind or avalanche danger. Luckily, the winds rarely hold, and the fearless ski patrol can often blast away the potential avalanches before the end of the day.Over all, Mammoth Mountain is one of the best ski areas in the nation, and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND it to literally anyone who has an interest in snow sports, no matter age or skill!
Great ski hill and really awesome. Terrain for everyone!! And great powder a lot. They have made a good effort in spite of covid!!
My God. I’ve skied the west, Colorado and Utah, but when I saw Mammoth... I was in awe. The views from the top of the mountain are hard to describe. When you look out from the top.. you see many different mountains around it. It was almost unbelievable. Some mountains look like ski mountains, some are super jagged without snow, there are mountains that look like 2 smooth mounds, you can see tall stacks of red rock mountains that look like they are from New Mexico. The Mammoth mountain and resort is friendly and fun, but the views from the top beat all I’ve ever seen. A must visit. Also they have a restaurant with German food that is Amazing. The restaurant/ hotel right there at the parking lot is awesome too and they have German food that will knock your socks off. Maybe I’m easily impressed, I live in South Carolina, but we travel a lot, and go to awesome restaurants and Mammoth had awesome slopeside food, amazing skiing and just all around amazing. I’m stuck in my house in SC dreaming of Mammoth... ❤️❄️❤️⛷
How do you rate a location like Mammoth Mountain - you keep it simple. Last there we skied. The weather changes not only during the day but by elevation - stay informed.Staying informed is one key to enjoying your vacation or experience. The mountain has a lot of terrain and slopes for all skiers. I am an intermediate to advanced beginner that is out there with black diamond users. We plot a path and meet up at designated places. The town has good public transportation that is free and easy to use. There are many options for activities - go explore.
Amazing Mountain with a huge amount of terrain and great snow for all levels of riders. Mountain accomodations and eateries are plentiful and delicious though expensive. The people who work here are polite and helpful and keep the mountain running at 100%. The town itself it awesome and the region is one of the most beautiful in California. Even though I live in San Diego, I consider Mammoth my home resort and consider myself lucky to live within range of a World Class resort.
Easy to drive to even when its dumping powder. Mass transit is outstanding. Drive to your hotel/cabin/whatever and 99 percent of the time there is a free shuttle that will take you anywhere in town including to the lifts. Easy streets for crazy weather. Oh and tons of snow and dope runs all over! And super easy runs for beginners as well. Now, go get some.
Looks like this would be a fun place to ski. Only wish they allowed me to bring my Trikke Skki here (-1 star). Other than that even in the fall its a very beautiful place. Looks like they have several lifts at the bottom to get people up top very quickly too.
World class resort. From on the mountain to the food and city shopping this place has it all. Personally Ive never been there during peak Winter season. Only super early winter or In the summer. One of the only places you can go snowboarding in June!
Amazing ski resort and town. The locals are very nice and welcoming. The staff at the resort is very knowledgeable and helpful. Drive up here isnt easy, but so worth it!Definitely make sure to get plenty of water with you though. The air up here is quite dry, and combined with an attitude change makes it pretty hard on the body.
Giant ski resort with every single type of run imaginable. Gets some of the most snow anywhere in the US. Average ticket prices and easy to get to from LA. Very nice layout. The only issue I have is that wind causes the upper gondola and chair 23 to close often, so make sure to do those runs if they are open.
I had an incredible time here with lots of fresh snow in May of all times! The views are incredible. Lift lines were reasonable and if you find yourself in a congested area there is lots of space to explore other sections of the mountain. I found this to be a more enjoyable mountain when comparing some other larger resorts in terms of getting from area to area. More fun runs connecting across the mountain and less time on cat tracks.
Great resort. The snow and setup are top notch. We rode for hours and barely got to a third of the resort. So many runs for all different levels of riders. So much fun.
Great mountain, great terrain. This season has been exceptional in terms of the amount of snow theyve gotten. The village below is fun even if you dont snowboard or ski. Parking at their lot is $30. For a Saturday, the lines at the lifts werent too bad, but it just depends on the weekend.
Mammoth had a lot to live up to. Every boarder I know said it was the best snow in California, so I was delighted to see what the hype was about. They were right, the snow is amazing and the views are incredible. Its a great pace to experience, especially in the winter. But once we got to the lift ticket counter we were greeted with a $195 lift ticket! I couldn’t believe how badly priced it was to go there, not to mention more than half the lifts were closed due to weather. I probably won’t be going back. You can get 3 lessons and a season pass at mountain high for $199.
Great skiing. Many times skied in shorts and a t-shirt. Sheets else can you do that except California. Long ski seasons. Not the best of snow but sometimes almost to mid summer. Great areas for snow mobiling. Very very expensive. Ski rings for just about everyone skill level. Amazing views. Fast lifts and many many. Busy season can make long lines though. Buy tickets at several locations at the base of the mountain. Go with lots of sunscreen. Make sure to have a map of newbie.
I went for the Mountain Biking during the summer. With the Lifts and gondolas that take you up to the top and middle of the mountain. The Mountain biking is absolutely phenomenal and beautiful with the exception of the Kitty litter like spots.
