Mamma Leone in Luzern

Came here for dinner with my brother and father.The service was very warm and friendly and my gosh, the food was simply divine.The Ossobuco soothed all our desires and we left the restaurant immensely satisfied. This one dish elevated our evening into one of the nicest dining experiences we’ve had in Europe.

So far the best eating experience in Switzerland. Delicious pizza, perfect tiramisu and the waiter who speaks English and is entertaining your kids no matter how young they are. And they serve food throughout the day, no siesta.

We have been there twice! Great food, great service! And a charming place in the Old Town square next to the leaning tree! Highly recommended!

I didnt like it. Previously we went to Bacio and Ammos, both were better

The worst service and mediocre Italian food.I’m not sure if our server is actually a server because she was more focused on cleaning than helping us. She forgot our water (we asked 2x after ordering), no plates for starters, no Parmesan cheese, salt and pepper for the table, she cleared our table and didn’t ask if we wanted dessert but left us for 10 minutes while still cleaning. I commend her for her diligence to clear up for the night but don’t be a server.

Was the worst experience I have ever had!We ordered gluten free pizza 🍕They brought us something like bread 🍞 with a small chopped tomatoes 🍅 with one leave of basil 🌿 and that’s it!!! We ate it just because it was crowded everywhere so need a reservation and we were so hungry!!!

We had four amazing meals here, including the calzone, a gluten free pizza (amazing crust!), and ravioli. It started raining so the hostess / Manager recommended that we eat inside and she was right because it started pouring! But if the weather is good the outside seating is wonderful.

Great place, need reservations if you wish to sit outside. We didnt, sat inside and the service was excellent. The food was cooked fresh and very tasty.

Value for money! Superb 3course meal and a great view!

The pizza de la nonna was really tasty, well cooked and super fast served.The location was tmver good, close to the walls and near the old city.Really nice staff

Wonderful food and great value, each of the dishes was huge! The Fettuccine was particularly delicious.

Haven’t tried the food but I don’t advice you the ice cream of poor quality

The price is reasonable there. Nice location in Old Town Luzern near the bridge, have both out and inside but mostly outside.Staffs cannot speak really nice English but they tried so its completely normal n praiseworthy, and I like the service there.Many choices of ice cream flavor, I love pistaschios one.Last time I went there just to buy ice cream before the closing time apr. 5-8mins but they rejected to sell. Thats the minus point from me.

We really enjoyed our dining experience at this Italian restaurant. Having outdoor seating on a busy plaza/street can be challenging at times with a crowd moving around. Its a good thing this plaza being in a pedestrian-only section. Its about a block and a half away from the Lake Luzern where all the fancy restaurants are located on the lake front, so it is a little more reasonable place even with a very pricy Swiss standard. I read some earlier (olderreviews about high prices, but you really have to remember its in Switzerland. Everything is expensive here!! You just have to spend some more money and enjoy yourself.Service was very decent with several cheerful servers. Drinks and food came out pretty quickly after ordered. It might have been largely due to not being too crowded when we got our table since we were having a late lunch/early dinner. They checked our COVID-19 vaccination certificates as we expected.Food was very good. Ravioli with mushroom sauce (24.50 CHF = $26.75was excellent. Initially, it didnt appear to be too large of a serving to me, but I was completely full when I finished my meal. Chicken on the Cesar salad (17.50 CHF = $19.10was well-seasoned, and my wife really enjoyed it.It was altogether very enjoyable dining experience here at Mama Leone!

Vert rude staff, came to today for lunch and asked for an English menu,and the waiter literally answered me back by saying we are in Switzerland! No English menus very disappointing!!

This place atmosphere is very good, staff is also very nice. If you go there don’t forget to try home made Tiramisu, it’s one of the best dessert.

The worst of Worst Restourants in Luzern , Bread to eat they are giving to guests and they are putting that same bread to another guests these days Covid Time such a shame.

Heavenly delicious Fior di Latte ice cream. A must have in lucerne. They sell 2 scoop for 5 CHF.

I had a wonderful time at Mamma Leone. Staff are lovely. Sergio, our waiter made our meal a special one. Food is very good in quality and serving. Thank you very much indeed.

I had spaghetti with truffle and some special sauce that I dont know and it was superb! Worth the money but sorry I forgot to take a picture. For dessert, I had Tiramisu which was sumptuous too.

Good pizza + ravioli. Too much wine. Kind servers. They swiped only my friends card :But he works for Google so its OK.

Great stuff! Truly italian place, feels very homish and the food is super delicious. Tomaten soup and pizza were perfectly made. Best wishes to the Chief!

Expensive but that is expected. Unfriendly service makes it not worth the hassle. Maybe we were unlucky but waiter rolling his eyes and being rude because we ordered 1 pizza between three guests is uncalled for. Our bill was still 50 with a generous tip. That’s 1 pizza and 1 beer for 50 franc.

We love the food and the service here. Came on a saturday night. The service team provided good service and we manage to communicate in English. The beef was good. Salmon was good. Pasta was good. They serve a good size portion at reasonable prices. The meal were carefully curated and each pieces down right to the garnishes were prepared with heart and pride.Look forward to coming back again. The pasta, risotto, and pizza where excellent. The taste was fantastic and has real Italian flavor. The waitress was super nice even though she did not speak good English, but we were able to communicate with big smiles.

Very unpleasant service from a waiter who assumes every non-European person does not speak English. He also snapped back at me, saying “One minute! You stressed? You leave then!” when I just asked if a table is available. In reality, it was the very first time I tried to ask the question upon waiting ~5 min after he assigned a table to an European-looking couple (btw, this couple came after me, but somehow they “managed” to grab the waiter’s attention first), and he just snapped back as if I bothered him a million times. Disgusting service indeed. I would’ve complained if this happened in North America or any other English-speaking country, but what’s the point of fighting a guy who only speaks the bare minimum, broken English?한국분들 혹시라도 여기 가지 마세요. 동양인이라고 무시하는게 여기 웨이터들 버릇이에요. 특히 매니저인지 뭔지 안경쓴 인간은 영어도 못하는 인간이 테이블 있냐 물어보니까 엄청x100000 초급영어로 자기 바쁘다고, 저더러 스트레스 받았냐고 그럼 가라고 (가게 떠나라는 의미성질내더라구요. 영어권 국가에서 이랬으면 같이 싸우고 나오는 건데 영어도 못하는 인간이랑 싸워서 뭐하나 싶어서 그냥 됐다고 하고 나왔어요. 웃긴건 저 다음에 온 백인커플은 지가 먼저 말걸더니 바로 테이블 찾아주더라구요. 인종차별 없는 데서 살다가 여행와서 이런 일 당하니까 기분 정말 더러워졌어요. 혹시라도 가서 비슷한일 당하고 기분 망치지 마시고 아예 가지 마세요.このレストランは行かなかった方がいいです。ウェイターから人種差別されました。私がレストランに着いた時、何分くらいも待ってたけどウェイターの誰も私を気にしてなかったんです。すぐ後ヨロッパ人のカップルが来て、そのカップルは早速テーブルに着席することになりました。その後私が英語でテーブルがあるか聞いたら、めがねをかけたウェイターが自分は忙しいと怒って、もし私の気分が悪かったら出て行けばいいんだと言いました。そんな言い方は無礼な言い方だと詰ろうと最初は思ったが、そのウェイターは英語もよく喋られなかったから詰っても仕方ないと思いました。旅行でこんな人種差別を経験してとてもがっかりしました。

This was a wonderful meal with friendly service. The atmosphere is casual and the food we had was one of the best meals we ate in Luzerne (the Salmon and the Tagliatelle with truffles). Highly recommend this place!!!

The pizza and pasta was just fine. Service was just okay. Annoying thing is how the waiter sort of pressured my husband to leave a tip. Husband reverted to US tipping and left a hefty tip which was totally unnecessary especially since the service was not the greatest. Feeling pressured to tip in a country where most is included in bill is really obnoxious. I’d spend my money elsewhere.

Very nice staff whos really taking care of you, good food, normal Swiss prices. The Tiramisu on the picture couldnt wait for taking the photo, so its incomplete 🙈

Ordered 2 plates of truffle pasta, one for myself and one for a friend of mine. Didn’t quite enjoy the truffle pasta though. Another friend of mine ordered their fish and it’s better.

Loved this restaurant! We’re Italian, and very hesitant to eat in Italian restaurants, but we took the advice of the desk staff at our hotel, to go here. We ordered the Vitello Traditionale for two people, which was a fairly large veal roast that was presented and sliced at the table, served w/ delicious roasted new potatoes and lovely steamed & buttered carrots, parsnips, peas, and was topped w/ a lovely au jus. It was a huge portion, but we couldn’t stop eating, it was so tender and juicy and well seasoned.The Insalate Mista (mixed saladappetizer was nice, not great, but we really enjoyed the Tiramisu which was made w/ almond biscotti instead of lady fingers, which was very good.Many people around us seated in the plaza seemed to enjoy their huge individual sized pizzas, and there was a large indoor seating area as well, that looked nice. Service was attentive, our waiter gave us good advice, and overall we enjoyed the evening.

Do not appreciate the behavior.Has a problem with sharing meals.We ordered one meal per person but were anyways charged extra (sharing chargebecause took a bite of my friends meal...

Food was excellent home made rustic variety. Staff were also nice and friendly. I wish there was more on my plate. Overall a great Italian restaurant in the middle of Switzerland.

Nice square, staff friendly enough although leisurely, food pretty good and reasonably priced.

A little bit off the main train station area, therefore, not as crowded, but without the river view, still has many outdoor seatings. The marzarella salad was quite good, one can taste the freshness of the cheese and tomatoes, but the arugala was a bit off. The pizza was great, but the pasta was way too salty which covered up the sweetness of the tomato sauce.

We had unpleasant food experience in Italy, but the western food served here completely changed how we think of it. It was just so good. We ordered beef and pizza, as well as beers. Everything tasted so fresh and delicious, and the staff were very helpful and friendly, even serving us chili oil knowing that we came from China. I would strongly suggest this restaurant to everyone. 非常好吃的西餐，强烈推荐。

Very unfriendly service, felt like we werent welcome. Had to wait 15minutes to get the check. The Tiramisu was half frozen and not fresh at all. Dont take the Espresso, tastes bitter and is 4.70CHF.
