Mami's Restaurant in Schenectady

No Latin shop at ALL in Schenectady is messing with Mamis. NOBODY! You would thought you were back home eating here. I can get food here and fake it like I cooked it for guests at home and everyone would thought we cooked it at home. Its that GOOD! Go NO WHERE else! Go to MAMIS!

Came I’m here for the first time and had a bad reaction to the food. Next day I had severe stomach ache and nausea which never happens to me. Not sure if this food was fresh. However, I called the restaurant and all the man that answered said is “hope you feel better and no one else complained”. The food was pretty bland as well. Definitely do not recommend and I won’t be back.

Definitely the best Spanish food in the Capital district Ive tried them all this is the best one she use to be on South Pearl Street in Albany and has been making great food for over 10 years in the capital district. Always greeted with a smile and never leave hungry.

Well if ya don’t know, know ya know… Seriously delicious food, like amazingly delicious! Tons of choices that are all fantastic. We got the pork and stew fish for lunch served over rice and beans. I might just have to go back for dinner and try something else! Oh yeah… I would drink myself out of a bathtub filled with that hot sauce! Thankful for the guidance, but honestly there simply isn’t a bad choice, everything is that good.

We came from Brooklyn NY to visit family, We stopped here to get lunch and the food was delicious. The man behind the counter was very pleasant and welcoming.

Nice people but the pulled pork was dry like it was sitting out without being covered and the rice and peas was oily in a weird way. Chicken dinner was ok mom said the chicken was overcooked. Hopefully I just went on a off day

Always make sure we make a stop at Mamis any time were working in the area. Absolutely delicious food and incredibly friendly staff.

Food is good, but not like it used to be. They have also started skimping on the portion sizes. NOT GOOD !! 2 large orders feed my family of 5. Not amy more. Go back to regular serving amounts.

Love the food! Our son flew in from Vegas last week. And like always, we had to hit this spot a few times b4 he left. Great food, always fresh. The proprietor is very sweet and engaging. And might I add...you get a healthy portion of food for your money. So a win, win, win for us!!!

The roasted pork was to die for, I eat alot of Spanish food and this is super authentic. My s/o had the pepper steak and said it was amazing. We also tried both empanadas the beef is definitely my new favorite in the area. Perfect price range as well.

Absolutely love this place! We drive 30 minutes just to get their great food! Never disappointed! Always amazing service as well. Absolutely recommend! My favorites are their stew pork chops, stew chicken, roast pork, pepper steak and their chicken and beef pastalitos! Portions sizes are big and flavor is always on point!!

I ordered 2 days in a row.....I grew up downstate NY near the city. I grew up with a Dominican Aunt and her whole family, and I have to say this is the best, most authentic Dominican/Puerto Rican food I’ve had since I’ve moved upstate. The food is delicious and the people who work there are amazing! 10/10 for sure, will definitely become a regular. Mami is the best cook seriously!!!

Good prices small medium n large I got small for $6 nice portions great authentic Spanish soul food. Nice man at the counter, had the pepper steak so tender & delicious! Pernil was a little too salty for me but it looked delicious n had the right flavor not raunchy at all. Small unsuspecting place! Don’t sleep on Mami’s~ Thanks ~ Lulu da Trucker

If I wanted stale overcooked leftovers I wouldve cooked dinner and heated up leftovers myself. The alcapurrias were dry and rubbery. Yucca which is supposed to be boiled was dry... not sure how that happens. Overall Im disappointed to say I thought I finally found a decent spot to get decent Puerto Rican food but I thought wrong. Excitement was killed really fast.

I think they reheat the dishes from the day before or even more days. I want fresh not overcooked leftovers that didnt sell!!!. Very dissatisfied. Ive been there 4 times and once got some great oxtails so i kept going back. Well the next time I went they were over cooked oxtails receding away from the bone and chewy. Then I tried the stew chicken and it was the same again this morning that happened to me and I wont go back now I gave them the benefit of the doubt and kept retrying the dishes and Im still not getting fresh cooked food since that first time when it was great. :/

This restaurant is the GREATEST!!!!!!!!!!!!Owner and staff ( family are wounderful people. My 9 year old with Autism wanted to go in and order our dinner. The lady ( whom I believe is the owner and a gentleman whom was there are really awesome, kind hearted, lovely people. They treated my child with respect and kindness and helped my daughter. Thank you so much. And your food is amazing

Went in for a lunch pick up. The gentleman there was very nice. Good prices. Food was absolutely delicious. I recommend to anyone that enjoys a real Hispanic flavorful dish!

Awesome food!!! My bf had friend chicken with rice and beans with a side of Mac & Cheese, and I had beef stew, rice and beans with a side sweet banana. I personally didn’t care for the Mac & cheese. But overall is excellent!

Yo I just got my food and ate some of it in my car and lord knows this lady is on point with her rice beans thank goodness I havent left yet becuase Im about to go back inside and order more food and I aint even done with what I have why I am just now knowing about this place why no body told me Im upset ...i could have been spending my money here ...to hell with Mickey ds and Burger King this there food establishment deserves an award very clean and I got food that will feed my whole family with only one plate !! Very reasonable and great I cant thank mami enough my first time was well worth it !! She has blessed hands in that kitchen !! Fair prices I even gave her a tip I love her already made me feel at home!!

Shes so sweet. Its a sweet and comfortable environment. As soon as you walk in, she treat you with love and respect and she definitely leaves you filled. Her desserts are excellent and her selection of drinks and tropical drinks are on point. So, I would highly recommend this place to friends and family.

Food is DELICIOUS! I swear Mamis chicken soup is the cure for the common cold. I cant say enough about this place. Mami is always so sweet, and treats us like were family. My family cant get enough!

Mami puts so much LOVE into her delicious food, you can taste it. The meats are excellent. The stews hit the spot. Her pork is out of this world. And the plantain, Oh yum!

Cozy , friendly, neighborhood hangout designed more as a carryout than an eat in place. Food was generous and delicious. If you got a craving for pernil, this is the place to go. Lots of other Puerto Rican favorites are on the menu too.
