Mama Mia Pizzeria in McAllen

Ordered a mama Mia deluxe hand tossed. Pizza is not the same as I remember it. Pizza was super dry , sauce tasted very different than before. Never again! Way too expensive too!

Good service, pizza is not the best but the other items ordered were good.

I like this place because of the family atmosphere it has. Food is good and they treat you well.1. Lasagna is great.2. Pizza is great.3. Spicy shrimp with pasta is what I get.4. Calzones are awesome.Overall I have no complaints about the place.Parking is limited.

Really enjoyed this place 😊. Ive had their pizzas a couple times to go but finally ate inside and we were sat very quickly and the food was great 👍 👌. We had Nonnas Lasagna and Shrimp Fra Diavalo. Will be coming back for sure.

This place is awesome food was great our server was awesome didnt get her name but she took excellent care of us a party of 28 😯👍❤️ definitely a go to for great food and service 👍❤️

The BEST TIME AND CUSTOMER SERVICE this evening. DAVID our waiter was incredible, table of 8, 65th Birthday celebration for my partner and he never missed a beat and he also had numerous other tables as well. The food was magnificent as always and wine selection very diverse and complimentary to the meal.We will be back again and again.Thank you Mama Mias for a wonderful celebration with friends.David thank you for the unique service and refreshingsense of humor.Lonnie and John

Always love coming to this mama mia restaurant decided to change it up a bit with my order with was a great dish. If you like spicy then you will like this dish. Its not like omg Hot 🌶🌶 that you cant handle and need water fast. but, just right. Unless your too sensitive then dont. I will order this again. The only thing I changed was the pasta I chose angel hair instead of the one it comes with but thats just my preference also some good stuff shells w/chicken and Angel Hair bianco even a childs plate, but for my furr pup nephew his fav. Is spaghetti couldnt leave him out and bought him a plate and ate it all. Only down fall is for the portion I was dissapointed for a childs plate. Have in mind I am buying a childs spaghetti plate this was $6.00 I dont mind paying but I didnt think the serving was an accurate childs plate serving. But. Yes I bought for my Pet. Only reason ita his fav. Dish spaghetti with cheese of course I got him the childs plate. But had me wondering.. was good tho but not the amt. Very shysty the cheapest pasta yet sold 6.00 for this amt is wrong. The other dishes for us were good. Was a good day to eat outside thats why I took my bud.. obviously not inside the restaurant and gave his own plastic container and not their dishes. I wouldnt not there yall. Not good manners maybe home but not in public. Hes a good boy!. Lol

The pizza here was pretty good and the appetizers were good too. I especially enjoyed their calamari. We got some deep dish pizza and it was good but I’m not a fan of a lot of sauce and there was a lot of sauce which wasn’t super flavorful. But would still go back!

So disappointed!!! The first time I came here this place was awesome. Came here yesterday and the experience wasnt as b4. The setting was on spot!!! Good job on that 👏 👍 what fkd it all up was the food. I ordered a chicken Parmigiano and it was st8 pathetic. Im Sorry but Im gonna be honest!! Its like they bought them at Sams club and tried to pass them off as their own. So can you picture a burger king chicken sandwich plain. You add a little sauce and a sprinkle of cheese. Thats what you end up with. They do not offer any bread, NO BREAD IS BAKED AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!! Their deep dish pizza was a joke it literally tasted like that pizza that you would get at school lunch. The sauce definitely comes from a can. NO HOMEMADE SAUCE HERE EITHER!!! The best part of this experience other than the drinks was the calamari. SHOT OUT TO THE FRYCOOK!!! GOOD JOB!!! Not only was it perfectly executed but it to was on point. Once you bite into a piece, it literally melts in you mouth. I would gladly come and teach you all how to make a good chicken Parmigiano sandwich from scratch. Cant help with the bread but can help figure something out. Sorry but some one had to do it.

Wife and I went here on a date. The atmosphere was nice, staff was friendly especially our waiter David. The food was fantastic. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back and maybe bring some friends along as well.

OMG, the best Whataburger pizza ever! We were in for a birthday party celebration and their attentiveness was outstanding! All our family members loved their food. Besides the excellent tasting food, the inside and outdoor seating areas are the cutest! Great conversation starters all over their walls. I will definitely come back --- a lot!

It was a nice little place. The food was really good and the staff was really helpful and friendly. It was my first time here, so I didn’t know at first that the parking is in the back of the building. And it was reasonably priced.

Ordered the Pollo Carlito was disappointed menu states it has artichoke hearts, mushrooms and olives.Wow one slice of mushroom , one slice of artichoke and 3 slices of green olives. What a disappointed 😞 order. It was take out by the way. Must do better for the price absolutely not worth it.

We walked in the door ordered our food at 9:00 they close at 10:00 our food was not set on the table until 9:35 they kind of rushed us to get out of there so they could close not our fault it took 35 minutes to get our food. Atmosphere is very good food was good service was mediocre.

Went here, food was bland and gross. They messed up our order twice and charged us an extra cheese cake for no reason. When the check came it was 48$ total, issues fixed, then when they charged us it came out to 60$. The waitress decided that she earned a 12$ tip. Needless to say me or my family will not be going back this place is a rip off.

I just wanted to take a moment to point out extremely considerate, friendly and customer oriented service offered kindly from both management as well as our awesome server David! Without going into excess rambling, they were incredibly thoughtful and understanding of my onion allergy and went very out of the way to make our experience as great as it was :)

Ordered the calzone, deep dish and pepperoni and jalapenos pizza. It was good.Update...went with my brother his wife and my parents. And it was great food and service.

have been coming here for years, the food only gets better, have yet to try everything on the menu but what I have tried never disappoints. love the ambiance, perfect for a romantic dinner. highly recommend

This place is a favorite place of mine for quality food and great service ever since they started! Todays visit was no exception. Isaiah was our server and he was very patient because we had not been there in awhile and there was a new menu. He was very friendly!We ordered off of his suggestions and we were not disappointed! Food was on point! Service on point! Only drawbacks are they took off my favorite dish-Portabello Mushroom Parmigiana-and the Diet Dr.Pepper was flat. Otherwise, we will be back again and we always bring or recommend this place to new people. Keep up the good work!

The pizza was divine! The calamari was breaded perfectly and the place was nicely remodeled since the last time i had been there. Their sangria was good too. Our waiter was really nice as well.

Have been going for over 10yrs and for the last year my family and I have been extremely disappointed with their food, service and prices. To charge $5.99-$7 for the simplest substitution is insane. Waiters are so busy that their service lacks because of it. Undercooked chicken, watered down pasta sauce. We have kept going thinking it was just a bad day, but the bad days have kept going for over a year. & to top it off their restroom sink had low water pressure.

We had been here a couple of times years ago and enjoyed the food but were put off by snail paced service. This time was much better.Our server Gigi was great. 30% tip kind of great. The spinach artichoke dip was perfect as were the entrees. And all was served quickly and with a smile. Theyve also done a great job of redecorating, so it looks cozy and romantic. We will be back.

Love the food, atmosphere, and staff. However, its a pain to place a to-go order. you can hear all the background noise over the phone, i was basically screaming the order out, worker could barely hear me and prompted to ask me over and over what i wanted. It would be a lot smoother if phones were fixed. What should’ve taken 2 minutes took 8. Aside form that, i love it here.

We liked the pizza sticks but a bit pricey and everything has an extra charge. Foe example you want pepperoni on your pizza it is extra 3.00. I am not a fan of the hand tossed crust too much crust not enough flavor. Staff was nice and ordering was quick and ready when promised so those are positives.

I absolutely loved this restaurant! I am not a fan of olive garden for their very small selection and high prices, so I was so excited to try another Italian restaurant with so many pastas sandwiches pizza and salads for great prices. Their pizza and pasta was so yummy. I also especially liked their spinach cheese dip, it was delicious. The atmosphere was perfect, it was so cute and really clean. The food did not take long at all despite there being so many people. Our waiter was awesome as was another waiter who kept checking up on us and made sure we had the best experience. She was super friendly and nice. Overall, we had a great time and I would definitely recommend!

Had dinner with the family on a Friday night and the restaurant was packed. Most food was delicious--I recommend Chicken Picante, I dont recommend the Supreme pizza--but the service was lacking. They were extremely short-handed and the waiters kept forgetting to refill drinks. Also, it was excessively noisy and that definitely put a damper on dinner. I had been here once before, and my experience had been much better. Will have to give them another chance.

Always enjoy going to Mama Mias. Ive been going since they were a 4 to 5 table establishment before the first expansion to the old building in the late 80s early 90s. I am happy that they have come such a long way, and continue to grow in their endeavors. Wish you they best, great food and atmosphere.

Went there the other day after reading reviews. We both had the thin crust pizza…excellent! Sat outside which was awesome.The only negative I can come up with was that the service was a bit slow but this was completely understandable and explained by the manager/owner? Who kindly came by to see how we were making out and to apologize for our wait.Staff shortages are the villain here, the unfortunate and lingering after affects of COVID.

We ordered the pizza with 3 meats, was absolutely amazing. Our waiter was awesome,never let water run low, checked on us often, met all our demands/wants. Wasnt real happy with our wine order, wasnt even a half glass for $7.00. a tad expensive, could buy an entire bottle for that.. but, other than that, it was a delightful dining experience.

Group of 8 & they did very good with service. Got several dishes...Original Lasagna, Baked Ziti, Stuffed Shells w/ meatballs, Pizza Ala Tuscana & a Deep dish pizza. Everyone LOVED their food!

This food is made with love. Its a cozy atmosphere. The pizza with mushrooms on it is my favorite. The mushroom is juicy and not dried out. You pay a buck for the food but its worth getting at least once a month if youre on a budget. Nice place for dates. I recommend the chicken picante.

This place is awesome. Id give it 8 stars if I could. The food is fabulous and so was the service. The prices are very fair for what you get. We drove an hour and a half to get there. It was worth it. We are camping at Falcon county park Texas. About 62 miles and plan to Return. Very clean. I cant say enough about this place. Thank you everyone for great dinning experience. We ate in and ordered 6 dinners to go for our friends.

Second time visit. A little busy but they had 1 table available for my buddy and I. Excellent waitress, so friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. I ordered a Philly Cheese Steak Calzone. Very, very good and alot bigger than I expected. Also the half sweet/half unsweetened tea was on point. Very good overall. Definitely recommend.

I dont recommend. Service was not bad but food needs to improve. 😔 Sauce tasted like it was from a can and the inside had no flavor. Pizza was a simple pepperoni and cheese and I was not happy with it. For what I paid I brought it home hoping my son will eat it.

Everything was really good! We ordered the chicken ala florentia & Mama Mia deluxe pizzas, and the rigatoni bolognese & chicken picante pastas. We took it to go and it was still hot when we got home. And everything was packed well! It included cheese, peppers, bread and utensils. 👌🏻

I just love Mama Mia pizzeria, I think they have the best pizza in McAllen but the worst sangria ever haha, this time we tried the "Fun Guy" thin n crispy pizza and omg, delicious! It was amazing! We ordered the fried calamari, mozzarella sticks and stuffed shells too, everything was on point, hot, yummy and great as always. The service was amazing too, our waitress was so patience and tried her best for our party so yes, absolutely recommended!

Went for lunch and was not disappointed! The server suggested the calamari (which I never order at any Italian restaurant because it usually looks too fried or too smalland I loved it; I also ordered the chicken and shrimp fettuccine which was perfectly balanced for a sauce and noodle ratio. We werent planning on it but we also ordered dessert and the moment that the server said tiramisu thats when I stopped them and said well have that. It is a very close thing to the actual tiramisu from Italy itself - its super scrumptious and the texture is luxurious.

We used to go there in the early 2000s. We were not disappointed with the food today! Tasted just like we remembered.

Very good Pizza and is as good as I remember from back in the day! We are really happy that we stopped by. However, I would only recommend the pizza as the the Spaghetti and Meatballs was so so. Also, Im very much the kind of person that would say that pizza tastes just as good cold (I know my wife thinks Im weirdbut for this type of pizza, I would suggest that you just finish it while its hot.

My husband & I had been wanting to try Mama Mias since I moved here 2 years ago & it just hadnt happened til today! The hostesses could have been more personable & inviting, but everything after that was fantastic! The ambiance & decor were both lovely. The music was fitting, although it could have been turned up a tad. Our waiter was great- very friendly, & we appreciated his attentive service. We tried the raspberry chipotle wings, which were excellent with their very flavorful ranch dressing- extremely hot temperature-wise, though, so careful you dont burn your finger in the sauce like I did- yikes! The Mama Mias Deluxe pizza we tried next was awesome! Id have preferred fresh mushrooms to canned, but the Canadian bacon had a wonderful smoky flavor & enhanced the entire pizza. Wed seen mixed reviews, so we were a little worried, but all in all we were definitely pleasantly surprised & look forward to going back!

The pizza (takeoutwas good until I bit into a solid hard piece that could have broken my teeth. It actually looked like a tooth! We took the pizza back and were able to get a refund.

So I know this place has been around quite some time. It was a stop on my list when planned my visit to the RGV and family this weekend. The food is never a let down but I removed a star because I was disappointed in noticing that when I requested my check that I was not given an itemized that receipt and wasn’t informed that gratuity was automatically added to my total yet the check presented to me had an space to add gratuity implying it hadn’t been. Now bare with me I’m not used to eating in parties of 6, so it didn’t occur to me to ask if gratuity was already calculated. That said, having received my itemized total when given the bill I would’ve felt that would have been more honest. I still added an additional tip but I felt it was a little deceptive. This was most definitely an interesting Lesson learned.

The Shrimp Plate I enjoyed for my taste remove the cheese sticks becuase mine did not melt little cold as a valie add i would say no. Second Plate yes indeed the meatballs a nice flavor that I taste here yes in works perfect but i would add 3 mest all. I only received 2 for almost 9 dllrs. The dessert, my respects way different texture to achieve a same taste well done excellente. I enjoyed the place the Price and the food dis not try the pizza very hard to compete with capri pizza but the best on the Valley. The wine excellente decisión I made but sould be serve in presence not in kitckenThen removed to be temperatura controled of chilled. I would remove runite and maybe replace Lamburzco for economic choice bit i have not Tried the pesch merlot, but i believe its Like Blooms artificio. Mama Mia’s never disappoints! We went there on a Saturday afternoon at around 5:00 with a party of 13. They said the wait would be about an hour, but luckily there was seating available outdoors, and as it was such a lovely evening, we took advantage of the nice weather and dined al fresco. Our server was great, and we never had to wait long for a refill. I shared the shrimp al diablo with my mom and my husband ordered the Italian Stallion specialty pizza. Yet again, Mama Mia’s delivered excellent food and service.

Hands down best pizza in RGV!! Mozzarella sticks are fresh and hand made. Service always great. Friendly, clean, fast and family friendly!! 10 out of 10

Delicious food, combined with a warm, cozy environment, made for a most memorable lunch on an easy breezy, spontaneous trip to McAllen to kick around town and check out the sights. Once here, I could not pass up a chance to try something new, so I started with some Italian Nachos. These light, crispy Italian Nachos were followed by a generous portion of hearty, perfectly seasoned lasagna! Bam! Hit the spot! (To go box, required! Delish! Great service made the whole experience one I wilI care to repeat in the very near future. Pizza next? Hmmmm....cant wait!
