Mama Loco in North Shore

Terrible gin and tonic, taste like water. Worst expresso martini ever. Only drinkable beverage is the non alcoholic drink.

Recommended for everyone who likes a variety of drinks and delicious nachos. New experience!

I love mama loco. Not only is just visiting here always a delight but I had my birthday here a few months ago and they went above and beyond!!! The service and the food is always top quality.

Love this place!! They make the best frozen margaritas. And food is also tasty. Great atmosphere, prices are affordable. Our go to.

Great vibes here and the food was amazing! Definitely recommend the chicken quesdilla. The platter was also good - the skewers were my favourite, super tasty. Drinks were delicious as well. Special thanks to our server Karla who did a great job as did the other staff on the night :)

Fantastic place, lovely food and atmosphere as well as a great cocktail.

Staff was short due to covid, the restaurant wasnt overly busy and we had to ask for service, our waitress just kept walking past us. Food was ok, nothing spectacular, almost everything was HOT with a lot of chilli, so if youre not a fan of spicy food, its probably not for you. But would recommend it for a catch up with friends or after work drinks. Definitely set up for the Millennials more than Gen X

They had limited menu because less chefs, below average food even with limited menu. I have one advice to you people AVOID this place.

Sort your phone lines out. Called twice, chose mama loco option only to be patched through to merchant, where staff said they were Mamas. Told okay to come down and open today for MAMA Locos. Drove up from Henderson only to be told theyre shut and only open at night. Was excited to give Mamas a go, what an absolute waste of time

Tasty food and friendly staff. Lacks a little atmosphere however, with the concrete floors and sparse tables, however that has never stopped us from dropping by for a meal before a movie

Great service, horrible kitchenCame on a Friday evening so place was busy but not packed. Server was a wonderful blonde lady in a purple Tshirt who was amazing. Very professional, helpful, just great.Unfortunately the kitchen let the place down by putting the food out extremely slowly. The tacos were okay, but not very authentic, well seasoned, or tasty. Unusual to find a Mexican restaurant that doesnt provide the (cheap as chips!side dishes of rice and beans or refried beans with its mains, but this is one of them. Oddly, after rather ungenerous portion sizes for the mains, the dessert was way too large. Especially since the churros were raw in the middle - despite a long wait time. Weve had better ones from Dominos and Burger King ! Really sad when fast food chains do churros better than a Mexican restaurant. A disappointing end to an underwhelming meal. Would not return, though the server was exceptionally good.From what I could see around our table, though, people seemed very happy with their drinks, and that probably helped them care less about the food quality.

I go to Mama Loco’s every Thursday after we play 5-a-side football at Football Fix in Albany. Jack is great…he sees me and my friend, Mark, and instantly knows to pour 2 pints of Tiger for us. Very hospitable and friendly guy, who’s really easy to get along with and we have an excellent rapport with him! Top man!

Went to Mama Loco last night. My wife ordered beef and pork lettuce cup tacos, and I ordered chicken quesadilla. After waiting 45 minutes for food, the food was served. The taco meal was incorrect - no lettuce cups. They replaced the meal, however the meat was rock hard, the pork tasted like chicken. The quesadilla was over cooked, it was like eating cardboard. A manager spoke with us and asked us what he should do! Not a restaurant I would recommend to anyone. BTW we still had to pay for the meal and we were charged a credit card surcharge!

Really nice place to sit down, have a couple of drinks and chill with your friends.They have a huge selection of cocktails, beers and finger food. Prices arent too steep either.

Could have been a lot better. Took 15 mins to be seen and get a bottle of water for the table. Then another 15m for our orders to be taken. then 1 hour for food to arrive (people next to us who were waiting similar time gave up and left). Didnt even bring out the chips with guacamole (which had enough guac for 3 chips for $9.00!). Fried chicken was dry and had no sauce. Taco was average. The beef stewers were lovely though. Also curios were really good.

Went for dinner and drinks with a friend. The food was good but the drink order was unclear. When I spoke to the manager this was cleared up. But server was only on his second shift.

The experience was memorable due to the amazing staff who are so helpful, welcoming and dedicated.The lovely lady serving us recommended a drink and it was so good we got 2. Hosted my 21st birthday here over the weekend. Lara and her amazing team made the night run smoothly and went above and beyond to have it exactly how I wanted, if not better! Great food, drink, atmosphere and service- a perfect night!

What an awesome experience at Mama Loco Albany branch! We were looked after so well by Britta! Her cheerful attitude and and recommendations on food were very helpful! Would definitely recommend visiting Mama Loco and ask for Britta to look after you! You won’t be disappointed!

Delicious food and tasty drinks - mama loco has become our regular spot now, the staff are so friendly and attentive. We normally get served by Izzy who always remembers us and knows what we like to order. The platter is our go too, and the sangria jugs are great value for money and super tasty!

Had an amazing dinner tonight. We were served by Bridie who was awesome and so was the guy behind the bar. They both had warm and welcoming personalities. We absolutely loved the frozen strawberry margaritas - just the right sweetness with a kick. We ordered the shared platter and everything on it was honestly delicious and so tasty - perfect option if you are not sure on what to get and the size if perfect for 2/3 people. Can’t wait to pop in again soon and try some more of your yummy food :)!

We had the platter, it was enough for 2 - 3 ppl, (forgot what it was called1 quessdilla, 2 sangria jugs and it was $39 per person. Delicious!! Defs go.

Mama Loco is so perfect for dinner and drinks- vegan options are great too, I had the mushroom quesadilla which was delicious. Great atmosphere and service :)

If you dont like noise and hubbub, but want to sit in a calm and pleasant atmosphere, this is the place for you. Sangria is amazing and just $22 for a big jar! Friendly staff! Love this nice place!!! 👍❤️

Very friendly staff. Generous portions, recommend the beef skewers- yum! Chicken was very tasty - jalapeño peppers - huge portions probably better for a group than two or ask for a half portion. squid was a bit disappointing but everything else great! Go feeling hungry!

The food was overall good with nothing to complain about though it seemed everything is deep fried. Waiters were not attentive even though it wasnt that busy, each time I had to shout out.

The staff are very friendly and attentive, not to mention they make awesome cocktails! A good place for kids as well with their colouring stuff and their authentic original PlayStation! Will definitely be back ☺️

I rarely eat Mexican dishes but I love the food served by this restaurant. It has great flavors with fresh ingredients. My personal favorite is the chili nachos.

Have only previously gotten churros here which the first time were delicious but the second time not-so. However my friend and I came recently for sangria and were amazed at the size of the $22 jug. Would recommend. Nice indoor/outdoor seating also and friendly service.

I actually do not like Mexican food, and my partner has forced it on me many times over the years and I always hated it, too hot and spicy for me. That was at all the fast food type Mexican places around Auckland though I suppose.Got dragged here recently! and after getting into the tacos and platter I was a changed man! this is definitely a mean take on Mexican food and I thought it was genuinely authentic? I dont actually know but I am presuming it was. The platter was a HUGE hit I really liked the different things to try, and the tacos were really nice, the best one I had was the pork belly taco, the prawn one was really good too. Definitely stop in its worth the feed. Thanks heaps and look forward to coming back, although I will have no halapenos! my god those things, take them out of the mix and its a winner. Great customer service, the staff were very attentive and took their time explaining the menu specials. The portion sizes for their street eats were adequate however the sauces were lacking in flavour. We went on a Tuesday night and went for the tacos and the 3 for 2 street eats deal. If it hadnt have been for the 3 for 2 deal I would have been disappointed in what I had paid vs the quality/taste of food.

I really love mexican food!! this is is delicious!! yummy dip!! I have a friend who went here to celebrate her birthday and I was thinking, why nit try it? so we went there and try. Asked the cashier the best seller food they got and this is what they served!! absolutely delicious!!

Cool little Mexican bar in Albany Auckland. We had a small party and a few drinks. Food was nice, not amazing but great for our group. Good range of drinks. I would go back

3.5 stars Good food and good service, but nothing outstanding night flavour wise. Had the Fried Chicken the polenta chips and nachos. Fried Chicken was average flavour the polenta chips I thought or a bit small serving but the nachos had a nice mince on it. The Margarita seem to be from a premixed Style so didnt taste as good.
