Family-friendly chain dishing up Asian fare from potstickers to stir-fries in modern digs.
Did not enjoy the cauliflower rice meal at all. Didn’t taste as expected
Phoned in order to go. Two basic dinners asking for extra sweet/sour sauce for egg rolls and dinners. Received zero sauce. One dinner was incorrect with chicken. Got one whole fortune cookie. When I called about receiving the wrong order I was told “I don’t know what to tell you… I just got here”. Employee did not offer any apology or anything to make it right. Too bad … MFs just lost another good customer. Oh yeah… and egg rolls were burnt!
I have never had such fantastic customer service. Adam is a gem! So freaking friendly and the cauliflower fried rice was excellent to boot (just a tad salty). I got three fortune cookies because the first two didn’t contain a fortune. Please don’t fire Adam for that. It wasn’t his fault. Thank you and keep on shining!
service was lacking. You can see the cooks in the kitchen and not a single person had hairnets, gloves or masks. Also seems overpriced.
Had the best customer service at the front cashier. Dude with black rim glasses was very helpful.
The food at the South Austin location does NOT compare to the food at the Triangle location. My noodles were like Top Ramen noodles and the taste of the food was not well seasoned. I ate it ONLY because I was hungry and had just returned from a 10 hour trip😩
We have been ordering from this location for years. Unfortunately it seems that kitchen QC has slipped. The last several times we have ordered, the Mongolian chicken has been OBSCENELY salty.Fortunately, the egg rolls and flavors are consistent and the food comes out quick. Please get the salt under control!
First time eating at this place. The cashier was so nice and very helpful. She is the reason for the 1 star. The food was not good at all. It tasted like the microwaveable lean cuisine frozen packs. The cashier gave me a different order and it was still not good. I left hungry and paid over $20. First and last time visiting.
The food its really good, but the service of the cashiers its not like excellent
I took a chance and lost! Salty, salty, saltyChicken was tough and hard to chew! Skip this place and go next door to Panda Express!
The good was good. The only complaint I have is the cashier/server. She was really rude from the beginning when we were ordering and she then brought our food and it was wrong. I explained to her the food was wrong and she kept giving my husband and I attitude the entire time. Patricia was her name. Please don’t work in the food/customer service industry if you don’t have the patience or time to get things right.
Food taste good , healthy and light over all. Sauce taste good and cauliflower rice was better then expected , glad I finally got to taste it.
I enjoy this place. Brisket fried rice is amazing and great food options. Only done carry out, no delivery
My husband and I ordered pad Thai. It’s doesn’t taste good because the chicken is not fresh enough/or because of the method they cook. Based on the price it’s okay... The noodle itself is good.
Well this is the second time that I’ve been back and still disappointed with the food. The egg rolls were burnt the main dish was horrible and the crab king was also a let down. I’ve going there for years but this chapter is closed. It was such great place that has changed from inside service to just plain bad food
Shoutout to the chef working right now (5:30 11/30/21, looked like only one person back there 15 minutes earlier when I was there). I’ve ordered the same chicken fried rice here a number of times but somehow, I don’t know how, this time it was exceptionally better than usual.
Delicious! As a vegan in south Austin I’ve noticed a lot of take out places are in the city and with two young kids we rarely want to trek out there to find parking so when we found Mama Fu’s in southpark meadows had tofu options for meals we were so excited! The tofu sweet and sour with white rice, the tofu general fu’s with white rice, and the lo mein with vegetables, ALL were delicious! The front desk has great customer service, answered all our food allergy questions and are always so polite and kind!
I came here at a pretty good time (I was the only customer in line). I asked if they had vermicelli and they gave me this nasty overly sauced meat, with barely any lettuce and mostly spinach. There were hardly any other veggies, barely three pieces of tiny tiny cucumber and the smallest plate.Usually a vermicelli comes with a variety of veggies like cucumber, carrot, onion and they add peanuts........never heard of spinach in a vermicelli, only shredded lettuce.Long story short, it was nasty and it made my stomach hurt. (Too expensive for tiny plate, 11.50)Would recommend Jason’s deli around the corner, or a more authentic restaurant. (Plates are around 9 bucks)
Found a needle in a haystack!!Food taste fresh and has tons of healthy options. From wheat noddles ,tofu or brown rice to cauliflower rice. Stay trim and eat yummy foods with Fantastic service. If you do t trust me, look at my proof. Enjoy!!!
Our first time at Mama Fu was good, we got shrimp and tofu dishes and they were well-cooked and tasty! Not overly sauced or seasoned. We got BYOB, Vermicelli noodles and pad Thai with sides of crispy and steamed potstickers. All delicious! The portion sizes are decent. They are definitely meals you eat completely in the moment (not like Panda Express where you could make two or three meals out of it).The sweet girl with the amazing eyeliner took our order and was trying to keep everything afloat with online orders and answering phone calls at the same time. She deserves a raise. However, the cooks in the back were a little loud and annoyingly brash, we could hear their full conversations into the dinning room. Especially the older man with glasses and grey hair.
The food here is good. We ordered the wonton soup and it only came with 2 wontons???? We also ordered beef and broccoli but the beef, per my husband was tough. I had to remind him he said the same thing the last time he ordered that item. My garlic chicken was very good. I wouldnt give up on them in a pinch and they are close by. Egg rolls are pretty good. For the price its fair to decent.
Ordered food online about 2 weeks ago and paid for contactless delivery. Delivery time reported to be 36 to 51 minutes. 60 minutes later I called the store to check on status and was told the driver had forgotten to take his phone with him so they couldnt contact him, and that he was driving on a spare tire so he may be driving slowly. Weird, but okay.Another 20 minutes later I called again and they still couldnt reach the driver. They said they would void my order and provide 20% off the next one. I asked for email confirmation or coupon code, and they said not to worry because the charge on my account was still pending, so I would see that the charge would be cancelled. The person on the phone was apologetic, which I appreciated.Ten minutes later I heard a knock on my door. I waited for the driver to walk away (contactless delivery, right?), but he just stood there holding the food and knocking. I figured maybe he was waiting so he could explain/apologize. Nope. He saw me come to the door with my shirt over my face (didnt have my mask handy), said "oh", set the bag of food on the doormat and left.At this point it was nearly an hour after we had expected to eat and we had just started to make some PB&J, but decided to eat our very late (and presumably refundedfood. Then yesterday I checked my bank account and, lo, they had charged me the full amount. The food was fine, but we are not ordering from them again. Im not the type to get upset over small things like this. I do, however, expect to get what I pay for -- including timely service.
Ordered a delivery tonight and waited an hour without receiving it. When I called to find out about it, the manager gave me a bunch of excuses as to why he didnt see or place my order. He then raised his voice at me when I said I didnt understand why transitioning online ordering vendors caused him not to place my order and why I didnt even get a phone call. Not once did I get an actual apology! First and last time trying this brand - there are a dozen others that will welcome my business and show true hospitality.
came in on a Saturday. they werent busy. brought my service dog with me. AFTER placing an order for two, the cashier promptly went to fill up the wifes cup with a beverage-no clue what the wife wanted. we were THEN told to wait outside with our dog. My wife channeled her inner me and went to clarify the animal policy regarding service animals for veterans. "we dont care about that," said the blonde manager (appeared male-not assuming genders in Austin). we took our refund and our appetites elsewhere.I suggest you do the same.
The place was clean and the staff was light hearted. I had the drunken noodles, which w hi Ike tasty were not as hot as I hoped the "3 🔥" icons would have indicated. A little extra garlic-chilly sauce fixed that though. The crab Rangoon were crispy and had a decent amount of crab.
We tried mama fus because they were open and delivered to our location.... But that was a mistake. We ordered 4 different meals and all of them were terrible in taste. And the crab rangoon we ordered as a side was dry and flavorless. How can any Asian restaurant not know how to make combination rice. Do not ever go to this restaurant.
I was pleasantly surprised by this place. Pad Thai was VERY good, presented well, large portion, and good price. Agree with some of the reviews that its odd to ask for tip when you order from a counter. But all in all, good experience. They also have WiFi and seating to work, which is a plus.
To be honest I have never eaten in Mama Fus Ive only picked up or had food delivered, but it has always been good food. When I run in to order takeout it doesnt take forever and the atmosphere while I wait is comfortable and I could see myself eating there. It just happens its awesome to pick up to bring home to the husband after a day of errands and enjoy some awesome food from Mama Fus.
We recently visited Mama Fus at Southpark Meadows for the first time in more than a year the other day for lunch. In spite of living nearby and being frequent patrons of Fus in the past, weve drifted away in favor of alternatives that offer better value and eating experience. Because of a promotional email offering Buy One Get One, we went for lunch. I was really surprised when we got there that the place was nearly empty. When we used to eat here regularly, they did very steady business, and got downright swamped during the typical meal times. This was early afternoon, and the place looked barely staffed, with only one other party in the dining area.I was surprised to find they have moved away from the traditional model of ordering from a menu at the table and being served by a waiter or waitress, instead using menu boards and ordering at the register, pre-pay, self serve, and still looking for tips. Wow. Tips are earned, folks. . . . Taking my order and swiping my card doesnt warrant a tip. Anyway, the prices are noticeably higher than they were when we last visited, no surprise. We ordered our meal using the BOGO offer, seated ourselves and fetched our own drinks. Our food was brought out a short time later, the only time the staff interacted with us other than to take our order at the register and then clear the table when we left. The noodles were overcooked (mushyand the chicken overcooked and cold. The sauce was unremarkable, in spite of being ordered Level 2 spicy, and made me think of another nearby eatery with a Panda. . . . The portions were also pretty small. A huge bowl was used, and we ordered and paid the regular (not smaller lunch menuentrees, but got roughly half-sized portions. The BOGO offer should have read, "buy one entree, get two bowls." Pretty disappointing. We usually wind up bringing home something in a takeout box when we eat at these types of restaurants, but there was no excess to be enjoyed later. The food wasnt bad, certainly better than Bamboo Bistro (gagbut it isnt what it used to be. The value isnt there anymore, and I think I can see why this store isnt patronized as enthusiastically as I remember it. I dont think the management is doing themselves any good to offer promotional pricing, then under-deliver on quality and value. If you want people to patronize your business, you have to not only get them in the door the FIRST time, but then do a good enough job that theyll be eager to come back. Frankly, Fus (at least at this locationhas lost their way and has devolved into just another forgettable quasi-Asian eatery. Might as well order up a Panda Express sign. Pretty sad.
My daughter brought dinner home and to my disappointment the food was horrible. She ordered beef and broccoli, lettuce wraps, and rice wraps. I took two bites and immediately was sick. The broccoli looked and smelled old. In fact our entire order tasted as if it had been sitting way too long or it was days old.Looks good right! Not good at all, been in the bathroom every since, I took a few bites!
DO NOT EVEN BOTHER! I ordered from here once before, the food was mediorce, but delivery was easy so at 7 oclock I ordered. It was supposed to arrive at 8:20, at 8:50 I had nothing so I called them. They told me it was out for delivery and should be here soon. At 9:20 I still had nothing, called again and was told it was never taken. The manager said he would send the driver with THE SAME FOOD THAT HAD BEEN SITTING THERE FOR AT LEAST AN HOUR. If you know anything about ServSafe you know that no warming bag is going to keep food out of the temperature danger zone for that long. I am not looking to have mediorce food thats an hour late and get food poisoning. Got my refund, and now Im left with a straving toddler and a hold on my money. This place is awful.
Thought we would save some money with with "kids eat free" Asian fast food, but the [expletive deleted] at the register was not able to ring up sides of mac and cheese and rice as a kids meal. If I wanted to spend $30 on lunch I would have gone someplace with good food. My fried rice bowl was undercooked with crunchy rice and my wifes sesame chicken had a tablespoon or two of extra salt. It was also hot and sweaty in the dining area. My 4 year old did enjoy the easy mac they probably microwaved for her, but we will not back.
Not sure what has happened to Mama Fus. Used to be one of our favorite eateries. They have now done away with waitstaff, portion size has shrunk and quality has decreased. Had Lemon sarachia chicken and it had a strange plasticy flavor.
The Pad Thai: A bare sprinkling of vegetables in a big wad of over cooked noodles. The sauce was weirdly tart and not an actual peanut sauce. Also no chili sauce was offered. So the overall effect was mediocre and unfortunately not very good. The staff never returned to ask if the dish was acceptable or acknowledged when I left. Why should they since I had already paid and tipped at the counter.
Best Vietnamese food in town, I really like the size of the plates and the variety on the menu. Try it ASAP!
This place is okay. Great location and atmosphere, surrounded by many restaurants, shops and it right next to a playground. Staff members were friendly BUT their food is just okay for the price you pay. Much cheaper places have way better Asian food. But places like that are trendy because of the location only. For the price on the food quality I dont think Ill visit again.
3 ☆☆☆ because some time can take to long why i dnk only them know why it was not even busy I am disappointed because weve been there many times and this time ever happened to us we had to order everything on the same time because we were hungry hope they can look more in to not taking long to get to the tables and clean more tables soon.
I recently ordered two separate times from this location for delivery. The first time was 12/14 . The order was estimated to be delivered 1 hr from ordering (it was around 5pmand it did not get delivered until 6.45 ( 1hr and 45min).I was understanding due to it being dinner time. Today i set an order at 11:54am to be delivered at 1.30pm. The order was 25 minutes late. I called the store to ask an associate and the response was " he should be there any second now". The food was cold both times, soggy crab ragoons and garlic soy sauce from lo Maine EVERYWHERE. I will no be ordering delivery from this location, the time of delivery and the food was unexceptionable.
Still waiting for my delivery- 1.5 hrs later. (Grump). I ordered through a delivery service and apparently missed a phone call about the order; One question about it that I feel could have easily been curcumvented ( and the order processed). I got in touch with the restaurant an hour later, they made the order and delivered it an hour later. Their response was " weve been trying to call you" which to me says they made an extra effort but my one missed phone call says otherwise. I was not impressed with the food either I thought it was odd: it was unlike any other Vietnamese food- pho was mediocre, hardly any vegetables in the vegetable fried rice and the tofu was just okay. it was a rainy day and I didnt feel like getting out so I had them deliver which is rare for me but needless to say I would not definitely not ever eat here again. They did "comp" the food and no one died of starvation so use caution, be specific and be available (or dont order online, call the restaurant directly in case they have questions).
Everything you’d hope for - clean, quick, and delicious. Docking a star because a small part of my order was wrong, but I wish I could only dock by a half-star. I’m delighted that they offer a wide variety of gluten free options and are knowledgeable about gluten free requirements. I’ve never gotten sick from gluten (or any other reason:-from this Mama Fu’s.
Received a takeout confirmation for a 5:50pm delivery, but the driver showed up at my home before 5:30pm. Yes, Mama Fus called my phone as no one was home before 5:30pm but I could not answer the call as I was driving at the time. I didnt even know it was Mama Fus who had called as they DID NOT leave a VM.When I called at 6:10pm to check on the status of my order I was informed they had tried to deliver....no explanation as to why the delivery was so early. Again, my order confirmation states the deliver time was for 5:50pm. I was told at this point my food would have to be remade but that they were super busy. I can read between the lines to know when by business is not wanted, basically trying to get me not to place the order again. Well success! I will never place another delivery order with Mama Fus. Please dont list specific delivery times on your website if youre just going to deliver when it is convenient for the business regardless of your customers request, its a waste of resources.Sincerely,Former Mama Fus Customer
I love eating here. Their food is always delicious, and I love this location. It is small and cozy but you can still choose a table or booth; have a small or large party; and eat inside or outside. They have a great rewards program and since I come here a lot, many meals are free with points. It is also a great place for kids. They have delicious dragon tails and the playground right outside to enjoy before and after their meal.
After having a small problem with my place they quickly refunded me for the food, replaced, and have me a gift certificate. These guys are awesome will definitely be coming back.
We have been coming here for several years and there is great consistency with the quality of the food and service. The portions are perfect size for most adults, but the kids meals are a little small for bigger kids. The menu selection is good and creative. Everything Ive ever had here has been very good and the kids love it too, especially because it backs to the huge playground called "The Grove". You can dine on the back porch and watch your kids run a muck!
Service was not very good, it was hard to get the waitress to even get us silverware. Food was expensive and also not very fresh. Felt like the rice had been sitting out a while. We showed up on a Sunday with 2 kids and ordered meals for all 4 of us and later found out Kids eat free on Sundays. (Our server didnt tell us, nor were the kids meals free. I called back and sure enough they should have been, but theyd rather take advantage of an unknowing customer than have a repeat one.
You pretty much get lucky if the food is on point. Its really good if it is tho. Service however, sucks. Me and my daughter were seated on the patio so she could play on the playground and waited 20 min before going inside and asking if I could get a server. Never checked up so had to re fill my water myself, put mushrooms when I asked for none, covered my water with a napkin clearly indicating I wasnt done and it got taken away anway, never came back to get my card so I could leave so I had to go inside to pay... when she brought me my reciept she had written "sorry for everything" and I was given 5% off... because that made it all worth it. Better than nothing then I guess. Unfortunately for me, I love the Mongolian steak dinner so I will be back, but hopefully some negative feedback will allow them to step it up a little .
Would have given this place 4 stars easily a few tries back, but the last few times Ive been here the food was just ok. The service was pretty good though and has consistently been pretty good for me. Even when theyve gotten my order wrong they do it with a smile. This location is great because of the Southpark Meadows play ground that is outside behind the restaurant. After enjoying dinner my kids LOVE going out and playing on the playground. It is an open playground so I do have to work hard to keep an eye on them when the sun goes down.
I never write reviews, but the food here was so good I feel like I had to. Bought dinner for the whole family. I had the Thai Fire Curry Chicken and it was amazing (and hot! Nice to find a place that lets spicy dishes be really spicy). Wife had the Vietnamese vermicelli and loved it. My 15 year old son is very picky, but agreed to try the lettuce wraps and ate them up along with 2 sides of white rice. My five year old enjoyed eating his Mac n cheese and chicken strips with his chopsticks (they give them the chopstick helpers). All in all excellent experience. This will become a staple for us.
I really like this place! The vegetables that are used in the dishes are always so fresh. The fact that they allow you to choose if you want your food made the traditional way or wok-seared is great as I prefer the slightly crunchiness of a wok-seared prepared meal! Their dynamite ranch salad dressing is nothing short of amazing! I even have my boyfriend hooked on it and hes super picky about his Chinese food! I encourage people to try it!
First off: Dont waste your money on delivery! EVERY SINGLE thing we ordered came to us COLD and we live less than 3 minutes away BY FOOT. Listed below is the verdict on each dish we ordered:Crab Rangoon $3.99 - The flavor was "OK" more crab "flavor" in them than at most places but I didnt actually SEE any crab which is strange and for $3.99 I would have expected more than 4 little wanton, their website neglects to tell you this.Coconut Soup $1.99 with Entree - VERY watery, the flavor was almost sour and tasted like the plastic container it came in.Hot and Sour Soup (I tasted my husbands$1.99 with Entree - SOUR it was not, the coconut soup was more sour, SALTY is most definitely was. THE WORST hot and sour soup I have ever eaten.Chicken Pad Thai $8.49 - Tastes NOTHING like Pad Thai. The noodles were thin and rubbery, the chicken was grilled and had an odd metallic taste. It was just thrown on top with no pad thai flavor at all. The noodles with the sauce was SOUR and other than that not very flavorful.Orange Peel Beef $8.59 - I dont understand why they even call this one Orange Peel, there were NO orange peels in my beef. In fact it didnt even taste of oranges. It tasted like slimey cold meat. The portion size very small for the price.KIDS MEALS: My kids food tasted better than our grown up food. The honey chicken was pretty tasty but my youngest wouldnt eat hers because AGAIN, it was slimy!Bottom line, this placed is literally OVER PRICED crap! And to think, they charged my card 10 bucks more than my receipt stated! I think I will stick to Panda 2 go, I am not crazy about their all of their food but much of it is good and it never arrives cold. I dont know how this place stays in business with food like this! HORRIBLE!
