Mama's Pizzeria in McAllen

First time visiting for a bday. Tried the Pasta Alla Bolognese, very flavorful and a good amount of food. Our table also ordered a 5 topping deep dish pizza. Very good stuff! Would definitely go back.

Hands down one of the best Italian places I’ve ever been to. The food was great , I had the chipotle pasta recommended by our wonderful waiter Axel. The service , the food , everything was perfect. What a wonderful establishment .

The food is not bad,but the service is terrible,when we walk in we walk to the register and they just tell you to sit anywhere,but actually we waited in the room to the left for 10min and no one gave us a menu,we moved from table and and we waited for a menu the same time,my daughter ask for calamari but I was confused on the presentation it was hard to get the attention of the server,but at 6pm it started to get full and we had 3 serves trying to clean the table so we could leave,I wasnt sure if the were short on staff,again the food wasnt bad but actually the service is what disappoints you.

Most of the staff here is so rude. There are a couple of nice people who work here, but it seems to be the people in charge who are always in a bad mood (maybe its their natural state idk?). The manager is a snarky, entitled woman with a terrible attitude and several of the servers have terrible attitude problems as well. The food is ok, but the lack of personable staff really makes this an uncomfortable environment and doesnt make the mediocre food worth it in my opinion.

Staff was really nice to my son, I didnt feel like it was a bother. I went about noon time and it was nice and calm. Id come again with my husband.

I absolutely love the food here. I feel that out of the other Italian food places that are around this one serves the most authentic and best tasting dishes around. The pizza is good but the actual entrees are amazing. At the end make sure you try the Tiramisu. Service can be a little slow at times, but it is mainly due to how busy they are all the time.

Did not enjoy my meal & the food was actually decent but the lack of costumer service spoiled my meal. No refills, napkins, condiments offered. Not once were we checked on. HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE service. Never going back.

Went to eat with family ordered 1 pizza and an appetizer and one entrée and was charged 90bucks ..worsr part about it was that the pizza dough was flat with no flavor along with the toppings. Service made us feel rushed wanting to close up already. I wouldnt have minded paying that amount if the food was good. Im Italian and that was not real Italian food. Sorry for the review... need better customer service for that price...

Well.. hate to do this.. as a regular customer we so enjoyed this restaurant.. quality was going down slowly but today it tanked.. my usual spaghetti bianco was flavorless & had CARROTS😮.. sorry to say will be staying away

Disappointed. My pasta had a long hair in it, and I waited for like 20 minutes for someone to come by. I had to walk to the cashier to ask if I could get another pasta because no one came by. The lady told me TO BRING THE PASTA TO THEM so they could change it. They couldnt even come to my table to pick up the plate. Terrible service :(

Food was great! The whole family loved it! Parties with 8, gratuity gets charged automatically just FYI.

When you order take out they put very little effort into the pizza. I ordered a Hawaiian pizza only to have trace amounts of either pineapple or ham. Poor pizza!

Issac was the definition of a perfect server. Touch and go, knowledgeable of the drink and food menu and made our experience perfect. Great little spot, inside has great ambiance and the outdoors have fans for that RGV heat. We will be coming back again soon. Highly recommend.

We didnt really have a waiter or waitress. The person who took our order was a blonde woman and she didnt even greet us. Just came up and said "ready?" Her attitude was unpleasant throughout our stay. Waited 20 mins to get ahold of someone so i could even get a refill on my drink. When i got my water from the other waiter, I asked for a to go box and the check. While looking for my card, the blonde woman slapped a glass of water that I didnt ask for on the table and walked away fast. It was quite rude. The food was good but service means everything to me. Unfortunately we didnt enjoy our stay.

So, first time visiting this place and the atmosphere was nice and cozy, but man was the service terrible. We were served by 3 different people, and it was a chaotic mess. Our initial server was a blonde woman who was extremely rude, for absolutely no reason. She kept giving a loud party these "death stares" and was just so unenthused. My girlfriend asked for water and never received it, and finally had to ask someone else and they brought it to us. Moments later, the blonde woman just comes and slams a glass of water down at the table and says nothing, and leaves. Only reason why im not giving this place 1 star is because aside from the horrible waitress, the food was delicious, and the other employees were actually very helpful and had great attitudes. With some changes to their staff, this place would be amazing.

Brought my parent to this place to try it out. My dad had Stromboli my mom had chicken salad and I had lasagna and we ordered also a large pepperoni pizza to try out. And let me tell you everything was all great. The service was good and the environment felt like home.

The food was delicious especially the shrimp! The only reason I did not rate this place a 5 star was because, if you did not order an appetizer you would have to wait for your food to arrive. It would have been great had they brought out some complimentary bread or something of that nature just like the bigger restaurants do. Other than that it was great.

I came to eat with my daughter. We were left unattended for over 15 minutes. Food was good. Still no server. I asked a young man to please take my food and drink order. Unfortunately he couldn’t take my tip because he is not a server but made the experience somewhat pleasant.

Well where can I start... the food was great as usual.. the SERVICE was the worst Ive seen in a long time.. 3 other tables have come and gone before we had a chance to get a drink refill. We had to ask the busboy to check on our order and we were answered with rude comments.. the waitress was friendly, but she didnt tend to us like she tended others.. we were not rude, we didnt make any comments, yet we were treated poorly.. big surprise, the bill came to the table PRETTY QUICKLY.. then the waitress argued with us about how we are required to pay for a tip even though we expressed we would like to pay the tip to how we deemed worthy... anyways, I gave 1 star for the food and 1 star for the iced tea..

This place never disappoints. Ive gone a hand full of times, and gotten a variety of things and they were all enjoyable. This time around I got the Spaghetti bianco. 10/10 would highly recommend this place.

10/10!! The shrimp scampi was tasty & well portioned. Their garlic bread is very well paired with their marinara. Not the biggest fan of how thick their calamari is, but it still tasted great. Their pizza is also great! Good amount of toppings & a lovely amount of cheese. Husband had the spaghetti bianco with chicken & loved it! The environment is also great. Prefer outside seating. Staff is very welcoming.

I dont know if I can adequately say how delicious the pasta is here. My wife and I loved every bite. Everything tasted made from scratch and the portion sizes were perfect. Well worth the price. The only concession is there was a little too much time between being attended by the wait staff and getting drunk refills or orders taken. But I dont fault this on the wait staff themselves but on the fact that it was a very busy night and that either they were short a staff member or need to hire another waiter. When attending to us, the waiter was great, our orders accurate and joked around with us. So our minor grip is completely minor and in no way diminishes the great meal we had.

The pizza was as good as they say it is.The only problem was that they were very understaffed when it came their waiters. We asked for a pepperoni with ham pizza,but instead we only got a pepperoni pizza.Which was fine since we had been waiting an hour in our table and the kids were very hunger.So we just ate the pizza.Plus the waiter never came by to offer us a refill,but I decided not to make such a big deal and it is the reason why I just gave them a 3 ⭐ rating.

No hostess was available, I walked up to a server and asked about seating. No mention from server that they had busy or long wait times which would have been nice to know. Waited 1 hour exactly for our food to come out. Asked for appetizer after 30 minutes I was notified they were out of that item. Table next to me was worse. Poor lady ordered just so that 30 minutes later they tell her they ran out of that item, she orders something else and then about 15 minutes later they tell her they are out, she has to choose something else. I felt soo bad for her the service was awful or maybe they are just super short handed. Im a patient person I feel like they could just tell you they have long wait times and leave the decision up to you if you feel like waiting that long. People were waiting for tables for about 35 minutes then another hour for food.

Really good cauliflower crust pizza. Great waitress, very attentive.The chili on a fresh/cold day is delicious.

Pizza tasted really good. We got the Chicago style deep dish. Buuttttt it was warm in the middle and hot in the crust area. My sister got a cheese pizza and loved it.

I always enjoy the food here, but the service on my last visit was foul. We waited thirty minutes for our appetizer that never came, waitress never checked on us until she brought us out our food. I asked about our appetizer and she said, “you never ordered an appetizer” until I reminded her what we ordered and she said “oh yeah I remember.” The appetizer came out when we finished our food but we didn’t want it anymore as we already ate our meals.Would’ve rated higher, but today I was talking to my coworker about our experience and he asked if it was, “the skinny white waitress” (yes). I was informed that the waitress doesn’t like other girls, as she’s usually very attentive to him but is always rude to his girlfriend.I had assumed maybe our waitress was having a bad day, but I don’t think as such anymore as this seems to be repeating behavior that other people have experienced and recognize.Hope she can get over her internalized misogyny or whatever she has a problem with, as girls eat out and have money to spend too.

I always enjoy the pizza here. Just know your going to wait a bit for your food

Love the food here. Never disappoints! Spinach dip is the best! You have to tried the chicken pesto pasta

Went to try this place for the first time recently. Hard to put in words what this place is. The food is better than your common chain restaurants but not really near other mid to high end restaurants. The prices are close to mid to high end. So I feel there is a bit of disconnect between quality and price there. This place is perfectly adequate. If you want a decent pizza this is a good choice but your gonna pay a bit more than you should. Not bad but not extraordinary either. I probably wont be back but I can see why others would.

Excellent customer service. First time visit, I tried the Philly Cheesesteak and it was really good. No complaints. The fries were hot and fresh. My buddy ordered a pizza and he advised that it was really good. We will definitely be back soon.

First time here and omg I loved it! My husband had wanted to take me here for a while but I thought it was only a pizza place. Wow was I wrong. I love cesar salads the one I had today truly is the best I have ever had..omg and it was my first time trying the fagioli soup it was so delicious..I loved the food so much definatly going back...

Nice atmosphere for a family outing . The dishes are amazing. I would go back to try each one. The pizza is full of flavor.

I think this is the best pizza place in the valley, which is an area that’s developing its cuisine culture. Eating on the patio at evening or night is a great ambience and I had a great time with friends. We ordered a jumbo goat cheese pizza that would be filling for a party of four. I believe this is a four star establishment but it shines above other pizzerias in the Valley giving it a 5.

We stopped here on our way out of town because we had passed by it and loved the look of the building and we were definitely not disappointed! It smells amazing in there and the staff is very nice. We went around noon on Valentines Day and I am pretty sure our waiter was high, but he was still nice and attentive. My boyfriend was with me and he wasnt too hungry so I ordered the side Caesar salad and cup of soup for myself, and it was a good thing because they were very big and more than enough! We shared each and almost ended up too full to eat our pizza. We had the small deep dish/Chicago style pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms and it was delicious! We both were only able to eat one slice each and left there very full and very satisfied. Well be back in the summer when I visit my family in San Juan again. HIGHLY recommended!

The pizza pie was delicious so was the lasagna delish , salad and garlic bread slices ( but forgot to take a pic washed it all down with a Dr Pepper . if u havent gone I suggest u all go its very good.

Calm environment, good food. Tried the meat lovers pizza and the soup of the day (pasta fagioli). Food was to expectations... although I took one star away, because as you can see on the last picture the pizza tray must be switch to a new one. The reason I say it must be switched is because I saw on one of Gordon Ramsays show that once they look black they must be switched out due to bacteria build up. Quote the head master chef, Gordan Ramsay!

This is legit some of the best pizza and pasta I have ever had. The service was a little slow, but the waitress and other staff were very polite. We will definitely be back and recommend the food 100%!

Side salad is delicious ($4). Sangria ($7is tasty but I think it is a smaller size than before. They offer a to go menu. There is a nice outdoor area which is perfect if the weather is good.I did have the cauliflower crust pizza. It was okay. I prefer the regular crust. It wasnt worth the addition prize of $4.00. (Medium pizza with cauliflower crust, $22)Their pasta dishes and chicken salad are my favorite.Restroom was clean and roomy.

It was good. Its a very cute atmosphere. Idk why but cute places like this I expect for the food to be outstanding. We had pizza, hot dogs with some fries and onion rings. Food was good but I personally think food can taste better but it was good👍

Went to have an early dinner with the boyfriend and the new pups since they have patio seating and we figured it would be okay to have them with us.Not only did several of their employees come out and ohh and aww over they them, they were totally above and beyond kind, bringing us out a little bowl with water for them without us even asking!Would definitely recommend it as a great place to visit with your dog(s:)

I went to mamas pizzeria because the fish tacos were highly recommended by good friends of mine. I really love the fish tacos it was just delicious, I will definitely go back and order some more fish tacos. They have the fried version, the grilled version and the black version which is basically different seasoning. This is a great place to relax and enjoy the weather. You can eat outside or inside it is a very cozy place. the only things is that it does take a while but overall it is an amazing place. I highly recommend it!😊

We got a giant pizza half meat lovers, half veggie lovers. It was AMAZING AND my kids didnt finish it all so we got to take some home. Everything was fresh, the crust was perfect, the atmosphere was great and we enjoyed sitting outside. This was our 1st time eating here and we were glad we did.
