Makuja - Sushi restaurant in Helsinki, Finland
The best sushi restaurant in Helsinki! Always really fresh and so many options. Sweet, vegetable, Chinese food, salads and dessert. The employees are also so friendly. I love this place!!
Sushis rice feels more like a porridge and a way too much oil in warm dishes. Very nice personnel but wouldnt recommend the food at all.
Its ok. We went there for Syö10 days. For 10e I would say its okay. Nothing really stood out. Warm dishes were very average, like any Chinese buffet but less variety. Sushi selection was really small, although the taste were good and extra star for being good bite sizes without too much rice. Normal price is around 17e, which I would never pay. With that price you could get better buffet in both quantity and quality wise.
Changed to 1 star from previous 5/5. The tables had tons of dirty plates left from previous customers. The "clean" plates were not cleaned very well with all of them still having obvious food stains on them. Sushi was left out for a long time as they had begun to get dry. One of the tofu dishes had an pretty odd taste.Avoid!Disappointing to see Makuja like this.
Pretty bad sushi compares to other sushi restaurant in Helsinki... very little choices and food taste not so good also...
Dont know about ala Carte menu but the sushi buffet is unbelievably bad.. poor quality, 1.5 hours not a single refill when warm dishes are already almost all finished by 7.30pm. poor variety of sushi salad and dessert (no dessert!)
Honestly it was a bit of a disappointment. I was expecting a better place.I understand we are in the syö week but sushi seemed of worse quality compared to other places and cleanliness of dishes not the best. The amount of available sushi was enough and anyway good to eat. I dont know if I would pay 18€ on a normal weekend to get it.On the good side they have a day, Tuesday, where they offer more vegetarian options. Additionally, they state to use less sugar than on average and no conservatives in food, which is to highlight!
Pretty nice, however nothing special. Solid variety of both cold and warm food, however sometimes the preparation is lagging behind a bit. Wakame salad was awful. Ok place if youre hungry and wanna have a chat with friends
Quite nice vegan selection of sushi. Friendly staff as well. Not the best sushi I ‘ve had but I left satisfied.
Pretty good for lunch but it appears, unfortunately, that the variety and quality of the sushi selection has gone down noticeably while the price remains.
Surprisingly bad quality and taste for some place with nice visual aspect. Really dry rice and they kept falling when picking up. They advertised to use 30% less sugar but the soiya sauce was the sweetest ive ever tasted. Poor choice of salad; and chinese food aspect was quite dried as well. When we ate, the wasabi paste was really powdery and had bitter taste. It was because not enough water was used when whisking the instant wasabi powder. Would not recommend. 1/5 star was only for the good look at the beginning
They have vegan Tuesday and not many vegan sushi options. They didnt have vegetarian)vegan gravy with rice. Dessert was not tasty at all. I expected more from this place
Nice variety of sushi and other dishes
Good sushi, but always crowded during lunch time, probably because of good sushi :)
Many choices of sushi, the taste very good and freshly. The grilled food is good. But the other foods not much. I came here 3 times, and once I smelled the bad smell of seafood, I told with a staff and he looked like that was normal, he didn’t give me an apology. So, then I don’t want to go there again.
Average quality sushi in helsinki. Nice selection of all you can eat, specially on evenings and weekends
Been there. Saw a hair on the sushis and told the chef about it. Flies and fruit flies flying everywhere. Server is resting while the tables are a mess...Hope I dont get an upset stomach when I leave..
Excellent buffet with a large variety of sushi and salads. Buffet theme varies according to weekday. Slightly on the pricier side, but worth the fancier food.
The best sushi restaurant in Helsinki. The food is just amazing and the price is fair. Very crowdy during lunch time but its a good sign!
Nice and polite service: 5/5Food: was average but good looking. And Luomu. Why always and everywhere Luomu. Dont go there.
Bad quality of food, I saw one sushi dropped to the floor and one girl still picked it up and put it in plate! They even collected the dirty napkins but who knows the reason why (to put them on the table again for next customers? The kitchen is suck and dirty. The manager is Chinese girl. She is evil with staff. She hired people to work just several days and paid cash, which i heard from my friend. And treated my friend really bad that she and her husband shouted at my friend who is leaving home on time but didnt do dish washing.
Very nice sushi with a few vegan options as well. Warm food, salad and soup included in the buffet
Very friendly staff, great selection of sushi, healthy food, reasonable price. You should really try their miso!
Honestly I don’t understand why does everyone like this place so much, it is ok, but for 12,9 there are definitely better places in Helsinki. I had to taste a lot of different things here to find something I can eat, and this rarely happens.
We went there on a weekend and almost everything tasted below average. Every fry element on the buffet was dead in its oil. I am sure it will be different experience on a weekday though.
Great quality sushi for a buffet. Fresh ingredients and there’s always vegan options available.
The restaurant is very modern. The Sushi has a great quality and they even have vegan sushi. We went there for Lunch Buffet + BBQ and it was great. You have Sushi, Salads, Rice, Noodles and can choose between several things from the BBQ Buffet (Veggies, Meat and fishwhich they cook fresh for you and bring it to your table. The Service is very friendly and I love the atmosphere.
Its good. Basic lunch place with a little better suhshi maybe than generally.Alot of versions of sushi and always something for the non sushi eaters also.. always been satisfied with their lunch buffe, but i have yet to try their japenese evening buffe which seems interesting also.. but so far Everything is as Good as you get for that price..considering going for a 🍣 sushi quick lunch
Very delicious sushi buffet
My favourite sushi place, lots of options even for vegetarians and vegans, lower sugar contents, not only sushi.
Got the sushi buffet. While a bit more expensive than most, it was definitely worth it! Really tasty and fresh sushi, and the fresh BBQ was a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one! The grilled veggies were amazing.
Really amazing sushi buffet! Great staff. They have a fresh BBQ (mongolian BBQ style), many different types of fresh sushi, and some sorts of dim-sum and tempura. Many drinks on offer too. Worth the price.
The staff is very unfriendly. The woman who works there carefully pays attention at what is on your plate. I was there with my son who has rice intolerance, so I couldnt give him rice, but only topping of the sushi. She came and said that we can not eat like that. What?? Firstly, why are you looking into my plate? Secondly, I paid for myself and my kid and this is buffet and we can eat the way we want. If you cant run a buffet restaurant properly dont make it! Never come back to this place again and never recommend. Moreover, when I read the reviews that the dishwasher puts separately leftovers after other people. Shame on you, Makuja!
Sushi is not fresh and tastes the same as in many cheap chinese buffet restaurants. Fried sushi tasted rotten. Service is bad, plates were out and replaced with random bowls. I saw weird practises with leftover food on customer plates when disher collected the leftover wasabi separately. I am not coming again.
Very fresh fish and many suprising ingredients. Sustainable food and loads of vegetarian options. Fair price, 12,90€ during weekdays. Nice staff aswell.
This is the best sushi buffet I’ve been to in Helsinki and I’ve tried a lot! They have crazy many options for vegans and the whole buffet is huge. The quality is excellent. It’s affordable and you get a lot for your money. The buffet includes miso soup, around 3-4 types of hot dishes, tempura, many types of salads and fruits, and coffee and tea. They have oat milk with the coffee which I like a lot. One of my favorite lunch places in Helsinki.
My favorite sushi buffet in Helsinki. The fish is very fresh, and it is extremely vegan friendly (lots of options and tasty).
Went for the lunch buffet. Sushi was fresh and rotated often. Went on Tuesday and they had a great vegan selection
Below average quality of sushi and Asian dishesTHE GOODCentral locationTHE BADSushi not so tastyThe ingredients dont seem to be the bestAsian dishes without flavorThere are sweet sushis which are not attractive to meBOTTOM LINEThere are many better places around
Good sushi specially on week days. During weekends it is overpriced and almost empty. They have quite good variation of sushi, but also misha soup, salad, desert, coffee, tea, and also some fried food, meet, etc. Sometimes they have really good tea made out of ginger, which it is a bit spicy, but really tasty.A good option for lunch on weekdays for sure.
Best sushi lunch buffet Ive tasted in Helsinki
Probably one of the best sushi buffet in Helsinki. Excellent Asian salads, too. Great atmosphere, friendly service.
Excellent sushi buffet and service is great. Fair price ~12€
Maybe good to eat, but not good to work. low salary 7-8eur/h. dishes are clean or not depends totally on the waiter
Not too expensive buffee, really good sushis in my opinion.
The best sushi in town, the all you can eat is amazing and it has a lot of options, and definitely not so expensive... its all organic with low sugar content!
Ive gone here for the lunch buffet twice. The price is around 12€ and it includes a big variety of sushi, some hot food like noodles, chicken and of course dessert.
Wonderful and delicious japanese food. Staff was really nice and helpful. Price-quality ratio excellent.
After finding this gem in an office building (yes, this is a bit hard to find), the selection they offer during lunch-buffet is staggering. Fresh, tasty and wide as a selection. Definite "yes".
Had the 13 Euro lunch buffet. Decent sushi, but nothing special.
