Makka Restaurant - Restaurant in Aswan, Egypt
Good local dishes. Try the lentil soup. And don’t miss the rice pudding
Tasty and clean food. Prices are very good and very very expensive for tourists
We enjoyed our meal in Makka! A lot of good Egyptian meat dishes of different kind! The variety of vegetarian dishes is limited. Cards and cash accepted!
Great restaurant, had a terrific dinner with friends 😋, recommend this restaurant 👌
Good restaurants for oriental food and grilled beef and chicken
One of the best authentic restaurants in Aswan offering traditional oriental plates. A bit overpriced though.
I guess the best restaurant in Aswan. Most delicious Egyptian food. Perhaps a little bit expensive. But it deserves.
Excellent service tasty dishes cooked to perfection. I would definitely return.
Food was okay, meat a bit dry. Price on the higher end of local foods. Location very good. No scaming or overpricing either.
Food was delicious but quantities are too small for the price
Amongst few decent options for dinner in town - this place was a welcome destination. Food was good, service brisk. We had chicken and mixed grill. It’s simple, basic but tasty, good atmosphere and not expensive.
Went there based on the very popular review., and recommendation from the taxi driver.Chicken white soup is made out of leftover chicken ( bones, and smelly!), Molokhya was cold, fried garlic used to heat it. The kofta was greasy ( not juicy), I wouldn’t recommend it …
The best Egyptian food I ever eat. Every thing is perfect .Idole Egyptian restaurant
Delicious egyptian food. Grills and vegetables with soups and salads. Very clean and very kind and fast service. Great value for money.
The food was awesome 👌 the service was very quick and the ppl are very nice. Thanks a lot Makka restaurant for this nice experience
Expensive (they charge service feeand the food quality is not up to the price. Avoid grilled liver. Grilled pigeon and veal Milanese are okay.
Tried grilled liver, molokhyia and stuffer chicken. Everything was delicious 😋
Worst service. Not welcoming. We entered and no one bothered to offer us the menu or services although we sat there for at least 15 min.
Very expensive tourist trap with mediocre food. Our waiter recommended the daily special of grilled lamb which was quite bland in taste and a small portion. We were surprised to receive a bill of $400 Egyptian Pounds per person. No detailed check, just a total amount. We specifically asked if service was included and the waiter said no. We tipped an additional amount on top of this outrageous amount of $30+ USD per person for lunch.
The food is super delicious and feels like homemade and the service is great. The place is kinda stuffed with more tables than it should be.
Overall ok. Soup had little flavoring and service spoke very little English. It was conveniently located by the train station.
Food here is delicious. By far it is one of the best lamb and kofta I have ever had. Meat was so juicy and has an amazing grill taste. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Aswan. Staff is friendly. Please note they do charge a 14% service charge and 10% tax.
This review is for the tourist looking to find an authentic Egyptian restaurant in Aswan. Makka is just that. They have great food and service, but pls be aware that they over charge non Arabic speaking tourists $100-$150 Egyptian pounds more than others. They did just that to me and my group of friends today. We all paid $150 pounds more, and we only noticed after the fact. The head waiter was also forcing us to order items that we had no interest in which isn’t very nice. Anyhow, pls be mindful of this.
Definitely the best restaurant in Aswan, The food is delicious and the staff are very friendly.
First you have to pay and then you will get the bill. The total price is 40% higher than it could appear from the menu. This is why they do not want you show a bill. Food is average, service below standard and generally typical cheaters
Its not a rip off like many say. They just dont read the menu. It clearly states the tax and service fee. But it is true that the food is just ok. Go to Al Masry instead. Much much better.
Food is tasty and have a huge variety. The speed of service is also really good. It can really get crowded at times so it is better to reserve ahead. The downside is that they tried to overcharge us, when we began calculating and itemizing the bill, the waiter noticed, came running and pulled the bill from my hand saying that you should only pay this amount ( the correct amount). This was intentional and not a mistake. This behavior deserve a one star. However, the food was good. If you decide to go there make sure to revise the bill before paying.
If you’re a tourist you’ll get scammed. Very expensive for the quality and quantity of food offered. When the bill came, they doubled the price of some stuff like drinks (additionally to 24% of service and tax), so be very careful with the bill and request the real prices. Moreover, their recommendations are based on you spending more money and not a humble and real opinion
Beside Aswan train station 🚉 Egyptian great taste, like home made upper Egypt families do.
Be careful. Scam for tourists. Extremely overpriced and despite of that the added 24% to the bill. And the waiter came to us before I finished my meal and announced the price which was higher than it supposed to be.Also the quality of the food was low I ordered stuffed pigeon (120 ef poundsand it was not freshly cooked.
Intimate, but not a hole-in-the-wall. Offered a great selection of soups, of which I tried two okra and one mixed vegetable. The mixed grill was small but fantastic. Great service.
Food is very good, be careful with overcharge. we recommend you do your own calculation and have small note with you. Here is our story we know they charge 10+14=24% extra on menu price (also written on the English menu). so we are ready for it but still shocked when they came with a crazy bill (50%extra- guessed it! We are tourist). No problem I took out my phone, did my own math, one by one in front of the waiter and with the 24%. He agreed on my calculation. Alright! Then he still tried to get something from me saying they dun have change. No problem, we are well prepared. I take out my money, count the exact amount in front of him and gave him. We could have given extra tips voluntarily coz the food is good but this trying to rip off tricks are so irritating and kill the mood.
Food was not good. Not cooked well in addition the minced meat contains some bones . Low quality
The waiter was so pushy to order the most expensive items. And when we wanted more time to look at menu he got mad at us for doubting him. We are vegan so ate the veggie dishes here. Was ok... nothing special. They included a 10% service charge and 15% vat tax. So the waiter asked us why we didn’t tip him when it was included. Very awkward and so uncomfortable eating here. I don’t recommend coming here. Scamy, rude and not great food.
Good local food in a local, lively environment. We had a delicious selection of vegetarian dishes, some they made for us. Also brought us some local spice to heat things up. Friendly staff. No alcohol.
Nice place ,food is amazing ,prices little high, friendly service and varied options.Recommended
We ordered grilled chicken and mixed grill, food was not tasty, pricy, not recommended.
AMAAAZING!! Our tour guide recommend this place. We had all this food for approx $11 Aus! Chicken and lamb were cooked perfectly, would definitely recommend this to fellow travellers in Aswan.
Food was delicious! We ordered hummus, kebab, cream caramel, and fresh guava juice. They offer zucchini with tomato sauce for free. We finished all the food without anything or any sauce left! They charged 14% tax and 10% service charge on top of the bill. I would still recommend this place even though they are a bit pricy (compared to other Egyptian restaurantsafter the extra charge.
Food is good, pretty standard menu. Prices are OK too, but 14% VAT and 10% service charge is not included in the menu prices, although mentioned at the bottom, weird..
We came here for lunch. We were the only tourists here. Restaurants was full of locals and to me that is a good sign that a restaurant is good. Food was great. Really enjoyed the starters - salads, spreads and beans. Chicken was good, but there was so much of it that I left a bunch on the plate.
Good lunch at Egyptian restaurant near the Aswan train station.
I had lamb chop.Lamb chop and the vegetable soup were really Really goodBetter than any other rstraunt in egypt.
Went here for dinner. We got the lentil soup which was very soothing with a hint of lemon juice. We also got bbq chicken, salad and pita bread. Seen a lot of tourist in this restaurant, which means that it is a popular place to eat.
Clean, friendly and great value. Authentic Egyptian food made really well. Staff are really helpful and speak English if required. Menus are also in English and Arabic. If you get a chance try the onion soup, absolutely fabulous. Would not hesitate to visit again, my new go-to venue in Aswan. Thank you guys!
I did not know the tax was attached and the food was quite expensive. But it is very friendly and the food is delicious. Hummus was not a mash chickpea I thought, just a salad with chickpeas.
The food are very good, and the price are reasonable, located inside the Aswan market, not a big place, a lot of people when I came
The food taste is good, not special, but its prices are high and the staff are not friendly as the restaurant is usually crowded, so they are not keen on having you as a loyal customer.
This place close to the railway station, very near to the Aswan market is like a hidden gem. Wonderful Egyptian grills and desserts, and the lamb chops were too good! The staff is courteous, and the restaurant overall is very clean hygienic and very welcoming. Mid ranged prices I would say, but around Aswan a definite visit!
The boss was very kind with us. They serve us a lot of food with a excellent taste. Every clean and good attention. Close to trein station and the Corniche. Pictures before and after to eat.
